New microprocessor - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

hi,
I was just wondering if it is possibel to add a new processor which more powerful to the xda II
Thanks For Reading

if it was 100% leg compatible
electrical compatible
and a 100% custom rom was made for it
but in real life not very big chance of it ever working

[Q] Ace's Processor

Hello Guys ,
I am planning on buying Samsung Galaxy Ace. I want to make sure whether it is true that Galaxy Ace has the same processor that LG Optimus One P500 has , but it's just overclocked in case of Ace ?
Not overclocked buts its the turbo version, thats by default 800mhz

Are you sure ? and if Yes, is it possible to overclock Ace's processor in the future ?
check pdadb.net's database, the processor of ace is speciafically turbo version with 800mhz as default.
i think we could overclock it if custom os kernel is out, which russell is working on
dont knw about about processor... but my cousin has lg 500 and my bro galaxy ace... and they both agree wid me galaxy ace is far more smoother and better than lg 500... and a medium sized screen is just a charm...
Has your cousin flashed his LGO1 with any custom ROM ? I have heard that "Megatron ROM" for LGO1 makes it perform much better than how it performs when it's stuck with its stock ROM and enables it to handle/run much resource consuming games and apps !!
Well, I, personally haven't used it nor have seen somebody using it

hi bot9011,
custom roms for Samsung galaxy ace are undr development (ie. Darky rom, villain rom and Cyanogen). As of now we have a light weight Villain ROM, and believe me it is very responsive. So if you think about the future when Overclock kernels are built, it can be overclocked to 1GHz! With all these top class ROM and a better hardware, this phone has got the punch.
LG P500 has been around for a year now and the development has evolved pretty well, and in the current scenario new phones are rolling out at an alarmingly fast rate, so it would be disastrous if you buy old phones. You will repent later, believe me...
With all these said the decision is yours to make.
And congrats in advance on your new ANDROID!

If your concern is to have current hardware this is not a good device for that being it uses an arm11 processor. I have not seen anything to indicate this chipset is any different than the standard msm7227 but with an increase in clock speed and most likely voltage too.
As far as the optimus is concerned the additional ram is far more valuable than the extra clock speed in my opinion. Not to mention that the optimus is far more prevalent which is the reason the developer backing is much better.
I'm interested to see if there is any hardware differences and what kind of oc clock speeds you guys achieve.
Thanks a lot for the reply!
Well if you are saying that LG O1 has obsolete hardware and Galaxy Ace is any day better than it, I would like to say that you're pretty wrong !
Both the phones sport the same processor , that is , ARM11 V6 and most of the upcoming updates will be for the phones equipped with V7 and v7+ processors (That's what a senior member on this website, named silvertooth ,told me )
And Yeah, it is true that Ace's processor is said to be in turbo mode so that it can tick at 800Mhz without any issues! But I don't think it is possible to further overclock Ace's processor and even if somebody managed to do it, the phone's battery wouldn't even last for a day
On the other hand it's quite easy to overclock LG O1's processor to an extent of 750Mhz without adversely affecting it's battery backup! It has even got 512MB of RAM !!
The main disadvantage of LGO1 is , it's screen is a dust magnet! Dust easily gets accumulated under it's screen and as far as I know, LG hasn't rectified the problem yet Otherwise I believe it's a pretty good phone that you can get for 10K INR!
Waddya guys say ?

Dude,
If u have an issue with budget get the LG phone, if not, get the ace i am not biasing you. All I feel is, (note:I have seen the LG P500) ace has better looks than LG P500, and I personally like good looking phones and also the 5 MP camera with the LED flash is way better than the LG camera(I like taking good photos and good videos 640x480). the 3.5" screen is pretty good for video playback and I prefer touch buttons than the HW button for the back and menu functionalities.
All these are my personal views.
Goodluck on your buy!
Flash Player
hi, guys! is it true that our ace will have soon flash player?!
Qualcomm’s 800MHz MSM7x27™ mobile processor will be the first to enable Flash Player for the mass market segment of smartphones, allowing handset manufacturers to offer richer Web-based multimedia and graphics experiences for casual games, applications, videos and other Flash-based content.

NOPE.. I am comparing the default out of the box lg optimus 1 and ace...
though ace is the far nore newer launch.. it wud take sometime to it's development phase to flourish.. on the other lgo1 is getting older and thus u can expect soon people getting over it and moving to new launches... well thats just my observation and experince.. i may be wrong..

Kernel with CPU temperature support

Hi all,
so far i havent seen any kernel or module that supports reading the current temperature of the CPU on galaxy s2. Is there any kernel that supports it? Is any of the developers already working on it?
Any solution for monitoring CPU temperature?
OT: sorry for this off topic post but here you are bala. I've heard you bricked your sgsl? Anyway, i was thinking of buying an s2. Good to know there is a fellow sgsl user here

Nice to see u here, i didnt bricked but smocked it once when i was fiddling with overclocking module and got a replacement from service center. But this S2 is mindblowing when compared to SL, so you can get it without a doubt

No one to answer this?? So bad... DO people think monitoring CPU temperature in S2 is useless?
I think CPU/GPU temperature monitor is very useful. However, the question comes down to does the CPU/GPU have a temperature sensor built in, and how to access the information from the monitoring chip.
Most of the hardware are closed source and either requires leaked information or reverse engineering.
If there is a temperature sensor built in, and the stock rom can access the information, then there will be a kernel with this feature coming soon.
So far, I only seen Battery Temperature monitor because the batteries have a BMS, and sadly do not see any application or stock rom function to check CPU/GPU temperature.
Thanks for your reply, i dont think a mobile with all those goodies (and cost) will lack a sensor in hardware, as there are only a very few phones having theses sensors for cpu temperature reading lets hope there are some drivers which can be combined with the kernel to read those.
+1 to monitor CPU/GPU temp. But flashing a different kernel is not a good idea. Sammy better put this feature in their kernel in future firmware update.
Regards.

What you are stating is an assumption, which doesn't make it true.
Here's my assumption, the official kernel is open source, if there are thermal diode in cpu, and a monitoring controller to access the temperature, it is in the source codes. If there are no applications in the original rom, and there are no 3rd party application that can tell you the temperature of the cpu. Then my assumption is it might not be available.
Of course, my assumption doesn't mean I wish there isn't one. I wish there is!
On a side note, [Q] Brutal OverHeat and Brutal Battery Drain!!! thread seems to be talking about system temperature, or might be battery temperature, perhaps they have an app installed?
@ LiFE1688
They are talking about battery temperature on that thread... It would be better if some good recognized developers have a look on it.... Hope this mob has that sensor. Generally these latest generation ARM processors should have it, and if there is one a driver from samsung opensource would be awesome to have this feature.

[Q] [DEV NEEDED] Can we enable FULL Dual Core usage?

Hi all,
I have just seen a post for the HTC Sensation that someone has been able to enable FULL Dual Core abilities on the HTC Sensation. Here is the link to the thread...
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/first-htc-sensation-rom-with-enabled-full-dual-core-support/
As I understand it, our device uses only 1 core and only enables the other core when the first one is being "overloaded". Is this correct? If so then I see benefits to being able to enable both cores on a full time basis to really get this BEAST to FLY!!!
Any talented Dev out there wanna take a shot at this? Is it possible on our device?
Im curious to this as well, but Wont one of the biggest drawbacks be the extra drain on your batteries power?

Hmmm... A very valid question indeed. Perhaps this "mod" would be used by those who may prefer MORE POWER over better battery life?...
Id LOVE to see this phones FULL potential and perhaps this could be controlled by a toggle or an app to turn it on and off on demand thus giving you the best of both worlds?
I would like to know it this is possible too
i was under the impression that the galaxy splits every task evenly between the two cores to eliminate lag and increase efficiency, as it's faster to run a small task on 2 cores than a big task on one and leave the other one not doing anything

I'm pretty sure Qualcomm uses asynchronous on their S3 models, while Sammy has both active at the same time. So in benchmarks the galaxy will always win, since both cores handle the task.
Sent from miuiTouch 4G
The work load is split between the two cores. Look it up on phone arena. Each core its always at work,.splitting they load, more power, and more battery saved.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S II using the xda premium app.
So what does all of this mean exactly? Does this mean that this can't be done or that it does not need to be done?
Wouldn't the Sensations dual core work like this as well - sharing the load so to speak?
Someone thought it was important to do this on the sensation... isimt anyone interested to see this on the SGSII?

From Ninphetamine-2.1.3 thread
Dual core patch is out for cm7/miui/oxygen roms http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208198
WOW full dual core usage??? for what?? i dont think there are applications to use it fully.
may be good for the sake of benchmarks.
This has nothing to do with benchmarks or apps that fully utilize two cores, there's more than one process that always runs in the background, having two cores always on should make everything run smoother by splitting the workload between two cores.
This patch might not make much difference on a samsung rom, those run pretty smooth to begin with, but try running miui for a change, its not as fluid as a samsung rom and that's where this patch should shine.
Nice to see this taking some strides... I will now mention this to Criskelo so perhaps he can impliment this into his ROM as week as it is my ROM of choice...

[Q] Should I make this trade? :P

Should I make this trade guys? I am offered a G2x in great condition(Comes in box) for my MyTouch 4G. So far I like my MyTouch4G. Running smooth and great but this offer has me quite interested. However I would like the opinions of people who own a G2X and not just some reviewer for a site that is probably getting sponsored and doesn't want to be too harsh . or even better someone who has owned 2 devices.
Here is a small summary of things I would like.
-Great battery life
-No hardware problems
-Great XDA Dev support
Thanks in advance! Also I think this is the right section, I looked at all the other ones and I am sure this is it. Sorry if it isn't >.<.
I bought a G2X for my brother and I tested it for quite awhile. Its a great phone. In short if you can trust what the person says and are willing to take the risk, go for it.
Here are the pros:
- G2X has a dual core tegra 2 processor 1 GHz (very fast) vs the Mytouch 4g's single core snapdragon 1 GHz processor (good but not future proof)
- G2X has an 8 megapixel camera vs the Mytouch 4g's 5 megapixel camera
- G2X has a 4.0 inch screen vs the Mytouch 4g's 3.8 inch screen
- G2X has an HDMI port, the Mytouch 4g does not
Cons:
- Slightly less battery life, due to the G2X having a monster dual core processor
But battery life is relative, it depends if you will keep vanilla android or install a custom rom like cyanogen or miui, you could see your battery life improve greatly by rooting and using a custom rom while using root only apps like Setcpu which configure your processor to save battery while the phone is idle.
Long story short, if the phone is in good condition, do it and goodluck!

Why samsung galaxy s 2 i9100?

Basically, i got this phone(GS2 i9100M) a week ago and found way too many problems that i cannot fix. So, why exactly does so many people like about this phone compared to other variant, e.g. GS2 T989 with snapdragon processor? I mean, my brother has the T989 and i also had it before too until i sold it to get this. It seems like i've been experiencing a lot of problem from this phone that does not really occur on the T989. The default music player is faulty which causes auto reboot, and the phone constantly heats up; even when viewing photos from the gallery! What attracted me to get this phone was people's opinion about the CPU and GPU also the gorilla glass, but i dont really notice a big differences in speed between the two phones. The T989 also doesn't heat up this much or this often. Feel free to share your experience people, and would appreciate if someone can offer me some advices on how to fix the heating up issues.
First, its better to talk n read at 9100 forum section but since im a 9100 user, ill share it here
Yes, on day one i got my 9100, it gets really warm even when not charging and got a lot worse when on charge. Its mostly the media scanning process which seems unstoppable on the earlier build when the SGS2 was released
I first noticed that its solved when using XXKG3 firmware and above. And also, undervolting to around 50mv reduces the heat too. A normal 9100 is capable of undervolting up to 175-200mv but it depends on phones are some silicones are made better and its not a constant result. What samsung made is setting the voltage at all the same safe level to avoid reboots. U have the option to undervolt it to reduce heat or even underclock to 1Ghz since 1.2ghz is quite overpowered and u want to conserve the battery and make it last longer.
Try Siyah kernel and learn to tweak using voltage controller and extweaks. There r guides given in SGS2 section here on XDA and it is well compiled.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply. I've posted in the wrong section by mistake. Someday I'd consider rooting the phone, but at the moment I don't want to take the risk because I'm still kind of new to smartphones and don't know much about it. What's your opinions on ICS? Do you think ICS OS release will solve most of these problems?
