[Q] What is the current rebranding method for Rogers from X10i - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Many months ago I updated my Rogers X10a to a X10i firmware. Later, thanks to a method and tools posted by Gorokhan (sp) I was able to switch to the Japanese Docomo X10a.
Now I would like to rebrand my phone to the current Rogers X10a firmware. I have tried many methods for about a week now. I've used the different flash tools from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740240 as well as various firmwares posted in these forums.
So far I've managed to:
Revert to a generic X10i
Brick my phone 4 times
Debrick my phone as many times (thanks devs, love your tools )
Never ever been able to switch back to any X10a firmware
I've also tried SEUS, PC Suite, etc... to no avail.
I know some people on Rogers have done this successfully in the past but with various methods that don't necessarily work anymore. Can someone please explain what method, with which files, currently works to rebrand from an X10i firmware back to a genuine X10a Rogers?
Thanks

Download this firmware:
http://hotfile.com/dl/43225669/598add6/a_WWE_R1FA014_DEK.zip.html
Should have the flash tool for 1.6 included.
Flash it then upgrade with SEUS or PC to R2BA020 (latest Rogers FW)

Thank you. I I will try this tonight when I get home.

Well, it did the job for me
If you don't run in java problems with the flasher.
DevID problems, damaged USB or whatever you should be fine

It worked!!
For the first time in my life I was pretty happy to see that ugly Rogers logo show its face Naw, to be honest, they've been pretty good to me, I have no complaints.
Thanks for the help tuxStyle

Do you mind me asking why you wanted to go back to Rogers?

The phone needs warranty repair. I had to buy a new phone in the meantime :/

I have the same situation but I don't know how to use the flash tool, can you give me a brief tutorial? thanks

Where is the flash tool
Is the flash tool included with the file? I couldn't find it in the .zip file. can someone upload it for me please?

I believe I just hit the "DevID" wall. Anyway to "overcome" this?
Thanks.

I ran into the same problem. Trick is, when you find the device id in the registry, if it doesn't work, keep hitting F3 until you find another one. I think it creates a dev ID for every USB port on the computer you have ever plugged the computer into. So either try different IDs or try plugging your phone into another USB port.

Any solution for bricked x10?

Is there anyway to unbrick the x10?
It is showing up an exclaimation mark with picture of x10 when the phone starts up
It just stops there and the phone won't boot.
I have tried using SEUS version 2.10.5.11 and PC companion 2.00.134.
For SE update service, when I clicked on X10 and did the instructions given, it says that I have already installed the latest firmware and the only option was to exit. There is no reinstall option.
For PC companion, when I click repair and followed the instructions, it told me to check my internet connection as it wasn't able to connect. I tried disabling my firewall but to no avail. I'm just stalled at Step 3. I have also pressed both pictures of X10 and both gave me the same error.
From other websites, one person was able to unbrick his phone by using davinciteam's debranding service from their x10 blog. I don't know whether it will work and I do not have an account to purchase their service.
So does anyone have any ideas on how to unbrick the X10?
EDIT: Seems that we can only use Davinciteam debranding to unbrick the phone but it costs 10 euros - I personally did not try it
And I have sent my phone to Sony Ericsson service to get it unbricked.
So next time guys, after you debrand your phone, remember to rebrand it to original before debranding it to another firmware. That was my mistake. After I get my phone back, I'm going to try it again
EDIT: 22/5/10
My phone is unbricked and seriously, how do they do it?
Wonder if they can like share their methods with us
I will try to debrand once again tomorrow, and hopefully I do not need to pay them another visit at their service center
Sony Ericsson service. I was yesterday and 15 - 20 minute to unbricked my phone ;-)

Hey can you explain to me your steps?
I tried to unbrand my phone, the first firmware upgrade succes. The third firmware (nordic 16) SEUS said succes, but when i turn on my phone i gace sam nic picture on my phone. I called my place nearest SE service and i get may car, and drive the service...
Oh, so you went to their services..
How did you tell them to fix your phone?
They are special update software.
Aztriltus - my friend happened the same thing to you, he use this Davinci Flashing / Debranding service and his X10 works well again. But it costs 10euro.
Search google for "davinciteam".
Hmm so I guess there isn't any manual way to unbrick x10..
Nevermind, I have already sent my phone to servicing
Wonder how do they unbrick them lol.
just use the debranding service davinciteam is offering. You download the program off their website and purchase credits, then just login with your user details on the program and follow the instructions (much like seus). You can choose from the list what firmware you want and it'll be up and running.
davinci
I was so happy when I read about DaVinci. My phone hung quite down as described above. But with the software I got him running again. Approximately 15 minutes and he is back again. I have already rooted him again.
Root your phone & it's unbricked
Have you tried the flash unbrick tool? It fixes it nomatter what. No need to spend any money for something available here for free

XIOFUB.rar is the flash tool.
a_WWE_R1FA014_DEK is the Rogers file (select the one that you need for your region)

My phone wasn't Bricked like yours in the sense that it didn't show the exclamation point when you attempted to turn it on, mine just stayed at the "Sony Ericsson" screen and wouldn't not move on.
This video is what got me back to 1.6:

I did a lot of theme changes, I think that's why I screwed my phone up. Lesson learned.

[Q] X10a not getting upgraded to 2.1 despite every effort

Hello there,
Ok this is frustrating me to no end. Months and months of freaking wait and yet i cant get the update.
I have an Debranded X10a (bought in Canada) that I am running on O2 UK network. I confirmed that X10a 2.1 update is available, O2 uk has the update out as well. The SI number of kit 1232-4507 is in the list (http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/) So theoratically I should be able to get it without a hitch.. right ?? NO !!! I have been trying on PC Companion and SEUS for the update but every time i get the same darn message "Your software is update" but when i check its always 1.6.
What is it in this sane universe that i am doing wrong that I am not able to update my Xperia X10. O2 update is available, X10a SI Kit number is on the list, SEUS and PC Companion tells me that 1.6 is the latest..i tried installig/uninstalling.. and deleting the DB.. but nothing
is it not possible to get the 2.1 update in an installable file that we can execute after downloading rather then trying to get it on the whim of SE or the career. its kinda frustrating that a simple OTA process is making me cry like a lil kid
Can any one help me ?
Please help
Im not sure what 1232-4507 is, but if that is a x10i firmware, and you have it on a x10a, it probably wouldn't allow you to update via SEUS.
If thats the case, a couple solutions here.
Change region code to the one in Canada, and update via SEUS.
OR
You could just use the flasher located in the android dev section and flash it to whatever you want without using SEUS.
Hope that helps.

good luck ..

You did use CDA and not SI when you de-branded?
Try reading out "Software Info" 1st 9 digits of Customization Version shows your CDA. Should be 1233-6929 for Rogers or 1234-4820 for World Generic.
To access Hidden Menu in 1.6 home, back, back, home, back, home, home, back
If that shows one of the above, suggest flash, or ignore above and just flash.

Oh crap, so it just got weired
So In model info it says: X10a and Country as ARGENTINA
in the Software info the numbers are 1237-1014 R7A
I am surprised cz i just did a complete install of the os from SEUS. it SHOULD have not got the Argentina version..
So thats that.. i m not on a world generic..
Also, tried doing flash from the other thread. But when i booth the phone in Flash mode, it will give me message "searching for xperia" and will go on to boot the phone normally... Tried installing the flash driver uploaded by Binary but no joy there as well..
i am quite stumped..

You have two choices. One is to search the forum for changing your FW signature. There is a whole thread about this. Another choice is to fight with the invisibility of your phone for the flashing software. I think, this is the driver's issue. In Bin4ry's post about the last version of his flasher check the "Problems" part. For more detailed things search my posts - I had similar problems and actually this part was from my last messages. I just used virgin clean computer (in SE terms virgin clean, it is pretty old one) that guarantied me from any driver's conflicts. And try to use old, non-GUI version. Some people had problem with it. One of the last post told that for non-GUI version you just need to reconnect your phone when it began to search for it. In flash mode, of course.
Can you point me to the thread... Firmware Signature change thread is no where to be found, I have been trying all sort of searches
Sorry for being such a Noob on this !!!
Re: Driver issues, I have tried a couple of things, Tried installing the driver, moved to another computer.. pretty much same result "searching for xperia"
Didnt use the Non GUI.. wasnt sure how to go about it... i got macs every where not windows PC.. which is a bit of issue

Try this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711 only good on a PC.
Driver issues can be a bear. Did you run PC Companion?
There is a rather long discussion on this in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719

I have no idea what should you do at mac... But actually Android is from the same family, as mac os - bot are posixes. Android is linux, mac os is BSD. Possible, it is easier to try to find way in linux/unix forums.
In case of windows stuff, you need specifically flashing drivers for the purpose you have problems now. You need to install only flashing drivers. You can find them in Bin4ry posts. There he included a link to non-GUI flasher as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827065
If you have flashing drivers problem you won't able to use SEUS too - it will try to find your X10 too and will fail. I used another computer just to try clean Windows install - without any conflicting drivers and found right one (too old to know anything about this new stuff like PC Companion, SEUS etc). I can not guarantee the success, but in my case it worked.
So i finally cracked it..
For me, the issue was in the GUI version, i took a virgin computer, went with GUI.. same"searching for xperia" thing ..
i went with NON GUI... and voila.... it worked on first attempt.. had my phone humming to World Generic in next 20 minutes..
So yeah.. for some reason.. the GUI version didnt work for me on 3 different pcs.... also, used MAC OX10.6 with Parallel 6 to run the batch file.. not sure if it had to do somehting with the fix..
anyways.. to my next hurdle.. got all working.. but ..
So i Flashed my xperia x10a yesterday to 2.1.... after that... I am not able to change the keyboard to android keyboard .. its stuck on default..
Can any one suggest what can I do ..
While at it, I am looking for swype too... i know that the beta program is closed, however, was wondering if i root my phone.. can i just borrow Swype apk from some one on the forum and use it ?

(RESOLVED)my x10 mini is bricked! boot looping..

(RESOLVED)hey guys, i've been looking everywhere for about 3 days now and really don't know how to resolve my phone's problem. I bought the rogers e10a version of the x10 mini and really wanted to update my phone to the latest 2.1 version. As most of us know, you have to debrand your phone first as SEUS as well as sony companion will tell you that 1.6 is the lastest version. Anyways i ended up using the "build.prop.claro" file from skzBR from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820009&page=4) while debranding and re-used SEUS to upgrade the phone to 2.1. Now when i used this build, i got the a claro logo when i booted up the phone and i didn't ike that, so i though i could just change the the build.prop in 2.1 to the other "build.prop.vivo"... well when i did that i felt really stupid after since i then remembered it was made for the 1.6 os. So now my phone is messed up! all i get is the Sony Ericsson start screen looping over and over again.
The phone does go into recovery mode, but does not have root permission through ADB so i can't push the old build.prop.claro file back into the phones system folder.. The SEUS and pc companion programs do not work to restore the phone and give me tell me my phone has no new software to update with. Even when i try pressing the repair option through pc companion get that same message. I've tried numerous flashtools with different rom with .sin files and have has zero success. So i'm wondering if i do have a chance at this if someone has the .sin files from both rom descirbe in the link and i try reflashnig it with the latest flashtool or if omnius is my only choice here.. any help really appreciated guys.
Thanks.
shouldve bought an evo
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
re:evo
not helpful, but thx.
Have u tried this:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844219
RE: have you tried this
yes i have, the flashtool establishes a connection with the phone when i put it in recovery mode. When it says its flashing my phone, all ,sin files or a 2.1 generic rom seam to flash fine and whn done, it tells me " finished, now reboot phone", the phone is still stuck and looping. So i don't know if its because i'm not flashing the .sin files of the build.prop.vivo rom which i can't seam to find anywhere or what....
Hi, im a bit busy today. So just give you a link that you can try http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/04/14/debrand-your-xperia-x10-tutorial/
Hope it will help you.
i fixed it
I flashed the phone with 1.6 e10i firmware and the java flashtool and it worked. I then changed the build.prop file to a e10a file and reflashed. SEUS was able to reflasht the phone's firmware to 1.6 e10a and all is good now... thanks guys!

[Q] Does Google Voice Navigation work with the world generic x10a ROM?

Hi. I've been reading through the forums and am thinking of flashing to the world generic for x10a (2.1, latest build) but don't want to lose some of the functions of my phone that may be country specific such as Google Voice Navigation for their Google Maps. I was wondering if Google Voice Navigation will still work after I flash to world generic for x10a, i.e. can I still use it as a gps when I drive (like it'll give me voice directions)? If it doesn't, any way to make it work?
On a semi-related note, I've been reading that there have been issues with the gps and wifi with the ROM update/flash. Have those been resolved with the latest 2.1 update that was released a few days ago (at least those that are software related and not hardware related)? The world generic is really the LAM but non-country specific without any of the bloatware that our carriers put on yes (I'm on AT&T and given their responses...ugh)? And if the world generic x10a 2.1 ROM happens to not install google voice search, I can just install batman_112's apk after flashing?
Thanks a lot for any help!

I use the 2.1 world generic. I have an AT&T X10a.
Navigation is there, yes.
You can install voice search, yes.
Issues, no.
Bloatware from AT&T, no.
You can root from here and remove whatever apps you do not like using root explorer or titanium backup.
Good luck.
Thanks man! That's awesome. Will do it once I charge up my phone (and of course after I do all the set up things). As an official ROM, we'll get the future updates (if SE releases anymore) as they come directly from SE right? Would we need to reroot every time there is an update?
Sorry, I'm still learning... Thanks.

Yes, you can get future updates directly from SEUS. You will not be tied to AT&T anymore. And yes, you will need to re-root every time you update but, that should not be a problem. Just pop in here whenever you need something and I am sure you will find what you are looking for.
Also, before you start, watch this tutorial regarding the flash tool.
Yes the answer to your question. If you use SEUS to update your phone you will need to re- root your devices after the update. I would look into checking out one of the custom roms that are out. i have tried each one and have it narrowed down to 2 to be my daily. either the EminenceBuild or J's 2.2CustomDarkStyle.
Thanks guys. The info and help is much appreciated.
Sorry, forgot to ask- the flash tool would be from jerlepea's massive ROM thread correct? Then I would root using batman_112's/your superoneclick's root program. Thanks.

Come back and post to let us know how it went. Good luck!
Will do. Will do it later on in the week as I don't want to accidentally brick it during the week when I need to use the phone and have an all-nighter (however remote it appears to be); anyway, after flashing and rooting, I may not sleep anyway b/c I would want to play around with it! It's a pretty sweet device that's mainly marred by the official "support." But the support here more than makes up for that. Thanks again!
Ok, I tried flashing for...well much longer than it should have taken. I tried both PC Companion and SEUS. When I first got my x10a, I was able to update with PC Companion no problem. Now, when I'm trying to enter flash mode, my computer hangs. The phone enters flash mode (green light turns on) but my computer than hangs - it detects the SEMC device but then it hangs and the phone eventually just boots up normally then. I read somewhere that it might be the usb drivers? But I can't find the thread now or the files. Does anyone have them? I'm using Win XP SP3, antivirus and firewall off during flash attempts. Any advice? Thanks!
Hey, ok, I've been trying to flash my x10a for...well let's just say much longer than it should have been. Things seem fine in that I was able to use PC Companion to update when I got my x10a out of the box. But now, when I'm using either SEUS or PC Companion, my computer hangs once it detects the SEMC Device...after several seconds, the x10a just loads up normally and my computer hangs. I remember reading somewhere that it might be the usb drivers? I've been looking through the forums but can't seem to find it now - does anyone have it?
I'm running Win XP SP3, antivirus and firewall off when doing the flashing. Please help. Thanks!
---
I've tried it on another computer to no avail - it's the same thing, it sees the SEMC Mass Storage but it does not register as SEMC Flash Device (i.e. it sees it as a SEMC Flash Device but then it stops). I've uninstalled and reinstalled PC Companion and Update Service which should have given clean install of the drivers. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
Ok, I finally got the firmware to flash but I can't seem to root now. Am reading through the threads but it seems like I am doing everything right, just not getting the results. Which sucks.
Btw, why does the haptic feedback not turn off properly? I turn it off but whenever I press a key, it still vibrates?

[Q] Bricked Neo after update - need help

Hello all and thanks in advance for any ideas.
In brief....
I bought a Neo from Ebay a few months ago which was sim locked to T-Mobile. After a bit of basic research on here and elsewhere I downloaded Omnius for SE, purchased unlock credit and after doing a testpoint unlock using a paper clip I succeeded in removing the simlock so I could use the phone with my 3 sim card. Having never done anything like this before i was quite pleased with myself and left it at that. Didn't change firmware or make any modifications at all.
All fine until I unthinkingly accepted the recent update offered to me over the air from SE. After installing the update the phone is completely dead. Can't get it to do anything.
I have of course looked through the threads and tried many of the suggestions that I could get my head around. I have tried:
- Downloaded flashtools and MT15i_4.0.1.A.0.283_Global.ftf firmware and attempted to reflash.
- Downloaded SEUS and tried to installed latest firmware from SE
- Tried to update through SE PC companion
- Tried to get phone into fastboot mode.
- Looked into relocking bootloader?
I have had no success with any of these or lack the technical know how to proceed.
When i connect the phone to PC via USB it is recognised as a flash device but not as the phone. When left connected it appears then disappears as a device.
I would really appreciate any suggestions as to what has gone wrong and what I can try to put it right.
Tim
go to my thread on neo develpment and see fota unbrick. just follow the instructions and your phone will be fine.
Thanks so much
Huge thanks for quick reply and solution. Worked brilliantly. You are a life saver!

You´re wellcome bro.
