help is needed to downgrade from 2.2 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dears I upgrdede to 2.2 and seems to work but most of the phone functions didn't work so I decide to down grade to original 2.1 again.
I went to download mode started odin and put the files and started but nothing happend so I unpluged the mobile and ended with the phone not working so I cant run 2.2 or 2.1 tryed to go back to 2.2 but still it starts on the odin and then stops.
can any one help?

What do you mean nothing happened? And this is the wrong section btw.

odin started to use the files and then stopped saying dont turn target off, and took so long as if it hanged

What version of ODIN are you using?

odin 3.1 .........

And which rom are you using? Make sure its the JDF one and not the JI6.
Have you ever used odin before? If not make sure you have the samsung drivers installed. If using vista or windows 7 open odin by right clicking and run as administrator. Then once its open put phone in download mode and connect it to the computer. Try again.

I think you mean Odin3 1.0
You need to upgrade to Odin 1.7 first of all, it can be found in this section in the Bible. Then like he said, grab JFD and the 512 pit file.

can you provide the links please to get the 4 fils PIT,PDA,Phone,CSC
I will be gratefull

You only need the Pit and PDA
Odin 1.7

JFD firmware (put this as the PDA, it should be .TAR)

512 PIT:

Make sure your phone is in download mode with the big yellow sign.

I will try it and let you know
Thank you for your help, it means a lot

What froyo rom did you flash? Did you flash it through recovery or with odin?
also as someone else stated, you should move this to q&a. While some will help you none the less, a few of people on here like the taste of freshly seared meat from time to time

[Q] Samsung vibrant Errors(odin problems)

First of all im new to xda and i wanna say thanks to all u guys out there that put in so much work to help those like me who mess up phones.
So i decided to root my phone an apply axura 205 and it work pefectly. Then i tried to apply the VooDoo lagfix and my phone said it was complete an then it booted into recovery mode an everytime i boot it it goes into recovery.
So then i ran odin wit the tar file an the 512 pit file. An now when its installing my phone says wipe failed. It restarts angoes to the samsung galaxy s logo then black. So now im stuck. Can anyone help please
What are you trying to flash with ODIN? I suggest flashing JFD and not clicking the repartion option. If that doesn't work flash Eugenes Froyo that does not brick then JFD.
Also there is a good chance you will get flamed for posting in the wrong section. [Q] belongs in the q&a section. Welcome to XDA.
T959UVJFD i put that on the pda tab. Now it that flash on xda? An will that work for the t mobile version vibrant
That's Tmo's official firmware that came with your phone. Just make sure you also load the 512 pit file.
still not working
im know how to run it but my problem is when its running odin my phone say wipe data failed so i dont know what to do. So the what does the phone tap and the csc tab do?

Sounds to me like you have an issue with voodoo. You're going to have to use Eugenes froyo that does not brick first.
Make sure and pull the sd card and sim before odin, it never works for me if I don't do that first.

[Q] Phone not starting up

Okay. So I pushed Axura final onto my phones internal sd card and booted into recovery mode. The damned Axura copy ( it downloaded properly via google chrome, no errors) had some issue with it and DID NOT install properly. I tried again and again to make it work, did not load flash from voodoo eclair 2.1 to axura which is 2.2.
Now I want to use ODIN and come back.
I get into download mode BEAUTIFULLY using youtubes """Samsung Vibrant download mode; Corntez" .
and then load Odin, load pit file, and the tar/jar file. detected as COM 6 Odin says "added" . then run it. RUNS perfectly. firmware update start; cache.rfs;modem.bin;factoryfs.rfs; and all, and the blue bar finished completely.
Then restarts, "VIBRANT" says "data wiping failed " , everything else succeeds...lots of small writing....restart' VIBRANT" ; then Samsung Galaxy S shiny logo.
Now.....the plot thickens and my vibrant does not move forward. Black, black screen.
If I touch the bottom touch keys---viz, home etc...they light up fine. But the screen. the beautiful screen, remains as dark as Lord Voldemorts heart.
What to do??
I forgot to mention that I moved from a forward port on my thinkpad to an aft port )); and the COM4 in ODIN changed to COM 6 , promptly.
Odin is causing some issues. seems like. Any suggestions and links for newer, better versions of the T mobile stock firmware.????
Need I mention that I had voodoo before I tried to put Axura on? I did.
Thanks for all the help, in anticipation,
cheers

Houston we have a problem. Voodoo MUST be disabled BEFORE you flash. There are plenty of info on the board on how to do this. Then ODIN to stock then FLASH. Not all ROM's need a lag fix, some just run smooth!
my phone is doing the same thing but all i did was hit the voodoo button that was available in the oclf app and it went dumb the women counted down and said complete after a while and then it stuck on the vibrant samsung screen. i flash with stock rom and now its doing what this guys phone is doing please help us
Hey, yes, I read somewhere, that voodoo needs to be disabled. I did not do that, I had issues doing that.

For the dear love of [deity]/self-sufficiency, go read how to solve your problem
(You need to flash Eugene's "froyo that does not brick." Then flash whichever firmware you want.)
Can someone post a link to Eugenes Froyo that does not brick please. Eugene himself has removed all support. Also, I found a zip file for Eugene somewher and NOT a tar or whateva file type ODIN uses to restore firmware.

I have tried but doesn't work for me. Unfortunatly I too did not disable voodoo before flashing and now I am stuck and can not get into download screen. I guess I will have to take my stuff to a cell phone repair since I have ran out of options.
got eugenes software. Now I am going to try out this:
""""
ok so here is what you have to do:
1. download odin, froyo that doesn't brick, and 2.1 true stock
2. go to download mode, flash the pit and tar file from the froyo that doesn't brick (DON'T RE-PARTITION!)
3. it will boot into recovery and error out, DONT PANIC, that is what is supposed to happen
4. remove battery (from phone) and usb from phone and computer
5. put battery back in, access odin and download mode
6. flash the pit and tar file from the true 2.1 stock (RE-PARTITION THIS TIME!)
7. if done successfully, your phone software will like when you just took it out of the box!"""
If all this does not work out, I have the 6 $ a month insurance from T Mobile---how do I use that? They might just say **** off, you screwed with the ROM and bricked the phone! Should I told them that someone flicked at Swing dance class.....instead of " I bricked it" sorry!!!!
Your opinions on this???

My opinion on this is not to worry unless it doesn't work. But since you know how to use Odin and your phone can get into download mode okay, it should work.
With the insurance there is a hefty copay. But you should be fine.

having a strange issue need some help

My friend tried to do a factory reset on her Vibrant and somehow it bricked it. she was running 2.2. anyways, i plugge dit in and used odin to reflash it. i used the pda setting and it completed but when the phone came back it booted into recovery and from there i am stuck. it will not reboot and now displays a i9000 logo if i try and boot even though i didnt flash i9000 firmware to it.
so i thought i'd just try again with odin. so i boot into download mode and now my computer says it doesn't recognize the phone, like im missing the driver.
I've been looking everywhere for the i9000 drivers to see if that will work but i cant find them specifically so now i am stuck. Any help would be great guys as i have a motorola phone and am a little lost with this samsung stuff.
install a program called KIES, it will install all the drivers you'll need.

Yes, put the .pit in the JFD odin rom file in the PIT slot and the .tar file into the .PDA slot.

Ok..make sure you are using the correct files....your tar file should be "T959UVJFD.tar" and the pit should be "s1_odin_20100512.pit".
Can you confirm that you have these files loaded into Odin?

Can't flash with ODIN - PLEASE help!

Spent a frustrating day trying to sort this so I'm posting here as a last resort as I'm at the end of my tether!!
So. Was browsing the marketplace(new style) and my phone crashed and then would not reboot. It would only go as far as the Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. so I took out the battery and half an hour later returned to see if all was well when I reinserted the battery. It wasn't. I should point out at this point that I was happily using the latest MIUI and appart from the occasional reboot all was well. When reinserting the battery did not work I tried to reboot into CWM but found that I could not. I can however reboot into download mode so have been trying to reflash my phone using that. However I can't get past factoryfs.img! It just stops there every time! Tried :
Usb Jig
Different USB ports
Restart computer
Reinstalling Kies drivers
A different version of ODIN
Many different ROM files (including Litening 1.5 which I know works from a previous flash)
Re downloading various ROMs in case the download was dodgy
Please, please help. I just don't know what to do now
Im thinking its very possible that something in your phone fried and the only option you have is service.. From the way you describe things as not advancing past factory fs.
You make no mention of flashing a stock rom via Odin .That is the normal method of recovery.

Thru odin you must use 4 files first you have to use pit- ext4 , then- pda , then- phone , and finaly csc.
You got all files here and do please read.
These are stock roms.

Latest:
Unistalled Kies
Installed a newer Kies
Tried Odin 1.83 instead of 1.85
Since reinstalling Kies and reinstalling the drivers, my computer won't recognise the phone at all even in download mode. Might have to admit defeat soon
Flash this recovery package, which is XXKI3, 2.3.5, Open Europe http://hotfile.com/dl/130600047/b70801e/I9100XXKI3.rar.html
Tick the 3 top boxes (Re Partition, auto reboot and F.Reset time)
PIT -> PIT
CODE -> PDA
MODEM -> PHONE
CSC -> CSC
If that doesn't work or fails, flash this, which is a XXKI3 Kernel : http://www.multiupload.com/WDOO81L5H6. After that, re-flash the recovery package (with PIT and repartitiong, but be careful )
Report back if it doesn't work, and good luck!
If that doesn't work, flash the old bootloader : http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD in either the PDA or Bootloader section in ODIN. If that is successful, flash the Kernel again, and then the XXKI3 recovery package I gave you.
