[Q] root 4.5.91 - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok guys so I've been off the forum for a while since im a truck driver and haven't had time to play around with things. So my question is simple I did a clean restore and updated to the new OTA update. Is there a root mod yet for this because I really want to get my webtop hack back and install backtrack 5 on here.
I've look through the dev posts but since all the new break through our wonderful devs have performed im kinda lost on what's what and for what mods and firmware.
I look forward to your response and thank you

Webtop hack for atrix without root

Anyone help! Please I really loved the hack on 4.1.26 but don't wanna go thru the whole root process is so annoying

There is no webtop mod for a un-rooted phone the rooting process is very simple now. Update to 1.8.3 place gingerbreak on sd card and run it and its rooted i am the noobest of noobs when it comes to androids and im a very stupid person when it comes to this kind of stuff and i managed it. Go to the dev section and theres a good guide to do it now. It usually takes 25 min to go from a fresh sbf flash to a rooted, sideloaded, Gingerblur and webtop. along with a CWM back up its not that bad no more
Yeah lol rooting is so easy now

Root 4.1.83 v2.2.2

Just purchased my 1st Android phone and am getting used to everything. Without sounding like a broken record and having spent some time on the forum, can I please be directed to or have answered how to root an Atrix 4.1.83 v2.2.2 without flashing back?
Does it make sense to wait for Gingerbread to come out or does it make sense to unlock the boot now?
Any input greatly appreciated.

Look for Gingerbreak in dev section to root.
I would unlock and flash Kenneth Penn's 4.5.91. The Moto release in SOAK will stop you flashing back if you want to.
Beamed from WinBorg 4G via XDA Premium
If you wait and get an update from Motorola and you have your artix rooted on 2.2. How should one proceed? Does one just update and then re-root after that?
Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if I HAD to flash back in order to gain root. As much as I don't like the motoblur bloat, a few items are handy. Any ROMs to look at?

When I was running 1.83, I used a method from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138204
Check out the third post in that thread. You'll need ADB to get it done, but if you don't have ADB installed you may as well do that.
ROM-wise, I'm using CherryBlur, which is a modified version of the latest 2.3.4 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160649
And I think it's great. The original HKTW 2.3.4 beta leak had a lot of bugs, many of which have been corrected by community updates and hacks, but Kenneth's 2.3.4 seems to be pretty clean so far. As to whether it's worth waiting for the official release, well... I think it's worth modding your phone just for kicks, and to gain a better understanding of how it works.
Thanks Obscene! Now all I have to do is find the time. In theory; to get bothyour methods done - how long should I expect barring no issues?

Hi there, i'm no expert in this, but i should imagine that if you made a nandroid backup of your stock rom before installing CM7, you should be ok to just restore that.
I have already installed cm7 buddy nd stupidly I didn't make a backup I understand that I can't completely restore it bck as bl will always be unlocked I just need the stock T-Mobile UK 2.2.2 rom

I can't be 100% sure about this, but seeing as you haven't installed an official 2.3.4 GB, you might be ok to flash the official stock 2.2 froyo t-mobile firmware. Head over to the super firmware thread and have a look there. As i've already said, I can't be 100% sure about this, hopefully someone with a lot more experience than me will chip in and give you the assurance you after, sorry i can't help you anymore my friend.
Well I still appreciate ur assistance m8

No problem my friend, if our official 2.3.4 GB update isn't here by next week i'm going down the same route as yourself, unlocking my BL and installing either CM7 or Alien. It seems that us in the UK get left behind when it comes to official software updates! !

Anybody else than can confirm how to get back to stock just so I dnt brick

Bump cmon people someone must know how I'm desperate here
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I think the brick problem is when you flash a gingerbread sbf and try flashing a froyo sbf...but I've done the same as you. Except I backed up my original stock rom.

I think so too but just wanna make sure before I do it lol

I'm new from ns4g and need help

Ok so today I got my htc rezound
I'm already rooted.
My q. Is how can I get to ics 4.0?
Like step by step.
Your help is apreciated.
I'm on a stock Rom.
And no access to a laptop.
Wat do I need to flash?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
You can flash an ics Rom...such as Scoslers clean Rom 4.2....will need to flash a patch since you are probably on gb firmware, he has it listed in the op, make sure to read it and it will go smoothly.

Can you post a link and thanXx for the fast response.
I'm liking the resound community

Scott has a link and directions in Op with patch you will need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21568997#post21568997
The community is great just make sure to do the reading, most of the time any issue you may run into will have already been discussed and explained. A lot of new users just flash and go to the last post. Reading the Op usually explains everything you'll need to know. Welcome aboard.

Bootloader? Roms?

Hey guys, its atrixno4g and i was wondering if their is away to rom the atrix running 2.3.6 with .141. Oh and if someone could tell me about this unlocked-bootloader thing is all about ( is it when the phone is unlocked?) and how to get the clockworkmod recovery i think its called.. I recently got this phone and without doing any research i used a program called RSD Lite and flashed some sbf to downgrade or something and instead bricked my phone- but i fixed it now. So basically can someone just give me a brief summary about all this, i dont want to brick my phone again.
Thanks.

No search

It would take more of my own time to explain it all and provide all of the links then it would for you to find out yourself.
Search-lazy much?
Sorry but by asking questions like that you are effectively invalidating and making worthless all the hard work and effort put into writing all those tutorials and explanations in other threads. Not nice.

I rooted and unlocked my bootloader a few hours ago using the automatic bootloader unlocker tool
But like everyone said you should search because all of this is included in the tutorial here just choose the option 3 for the AT&T version and continue

Yeah, they are outdated. Like the bootloader thread, its outdated, but its still the way to do it. Theres no newer way. After that, root it. After you root it just install cwm from the market don't follow any threads on it.

Like everyone has said you gotta search. A sign you haven't even looked in those threads is the fact you said they're outdated even though they have responses that are very recent, indicating people with your version and firmware might be commenting. It's a lot of reading and it should be because if you mess it up you could brick your phone. Read everything you can and then read it again. I can guarantee you can unlock, get clockworkmod working, and flash a ROM onto your phone (my guarantee is limited to the US AT&T atrix)
Thanx for everything guys- now i root first or unlock bootloader?

I see you're still not too good at searching the forum...
How about you just follow this guide?
