[Q] Netlinklistener run all the time... - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I All,
I'm investigated to know why my phone battery is draining so fast...
I have use "logcat" to check what happen.
First I had problem with "MediaProvider" and "NetlinkListener".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16281314&postcount=308
I have rename "MediaProvider" in System/app/ via Root Explorer (and off course the music player bug).
I have restart the phone, rename back "MediaProvider" and from now, no more problem with it.
So finally the NetlinkListener is the one that continu to run.
Did someone can explain what is it and how to stop it ? (is it associated to the Wifi ?)
Thank you in advance.

Exactly why and how did you do that? Im having a similar problem.

Because my watch dog return that Android.media.process is the first power consummer.
Use the Root Explorer, it's in system/app.
I add .bak right after the .apk.

I am having the same issue.
And my battery is gone in something like 4 hours. From 100% to 0 =(((
Someone have any hint about this?
Same logs, same problem.
Gingerbrew 2.3.4.
Many thanks

i also have same issue. does anybody know what is netlinklistener ?

Thanks to this thread, I was able to determine that Sugarsync was using this resource (Android.process.media), keeping the CPU at about 50% all the time. When I renamed MediaProvider, it caused Sugarsync to force close, and the CPU went down to normal, watching in OS Monitor.
Unfortunately, after renaming back, uninstalling Sugarsync and after a reboot, this process is running again. I guess I need to hunt down what is starting this process. It's status is "sleep", but load of 49%. I have renamed this APK to BAK again, and will see what gets broken in the process.

Unfortunately this does not work for me, I am using the Naked 2.3.4 ROM and have removed other apks from tit to try and pear it down to almost nothing. I renamed MediaProvider MediaUploader and MediaSync and still I see the TundConnector I also see the UDEV_LOG not found error too, I thought udev was not on android. I think some developer left in code for linux and not for android specific.

sorry for the forum jumping. but i'm a photon 4g user and my battery drains in 4 hours flat--too. ran catlog and i'm also getting this same netlinkevent, netlinklistener, udev_log not found, and though i'm sure my camera not working doesn't have anything to do with this, it may be that this process or bug is the culprit for my phone's battery problems.
any other atrix users experiencing this issue? got to figure out a way to make this process stop its errors.

[Q] Help needed: logcat to diagnose sudden reboot issue

Hi all,
since a few weeks, I have serious trouble with my mobile phone rebooting randomly - this may happen ANY time - once I turn off "in-flight" mode, and GSM/3G telephony is activated.
I did pipe logcat into file (see exact commands at bottom), and the results are interesting. I hope someone here can interpret these logfiles and give me hints on what the problem is (hardware or software), and possibly on how to resolve.
It only happens when I turn the GSM/UMTS on. If I switch to In-Flight mode, and GSM/3G radio is turned off respectively, the phone runs and runs and runs. The issue has got nothing to do with the other networks running or not (WiFi, Bluetooth; GPS is off).
I've been recording logcats many times, and I do consistently find the below lines stored in it, just before logging is terminated with the phone rebooting:

When it first happened was when I went abroad and turned the mobile on after landing - making it connect to a roaming network. More importantly, the first incidence is NOT linked to:
- dropping etc. the phone (no physical force)
- no major software installations (as far as i remember)
[only thing: possibly I turned on "Cell Broadcast" in the Android settings for the first time... it's turned off now.]
How I created the 2 logcat files:
Code:
logcat -b radio *:V > /sdcard-ext/logcat_radio.txt
logcat *:V > /sdcard-ext/logcat.txt
My Hardware / Software environment:
- Motorola Atrix 4G
- running on stock rom , 2.3.4 (latest update, build: 4.5.2A-74_OLE-31.1; kernel 2.6.32.9)
Your ideas and support is highly appreciates !
Chris

What do your logs say? Also hints on RIL-RDS our modem?
:crying: no solution so far for me.
Factory reset has not solved the problem either. Seems to be the hardware...
The phone just came back from warranty "repair". Feedback: Works as designed, issues/reboots could not be reproduced.
And indeed, the phone works fine now - after the servicing firm flashed a "virgin" ROM.
I am a bit puzzled now, as I had wiped both "data (factory reset)" and "cache" from the recovery menu.
Questions:
- I thought, factory resetting would reset the phone to its initial state - as all (!!) user installed and altered data are wiped.
- What exactly did the service agent do differently than a factory reset?
- Most important: how can I myself fix such a problem the next time ? (Without unlocking my bootloader, which is required on Atrix 4G for most backup solutions)
Thanks
Chris

[Q]Monitoring/fixing random reboots ?

So I have an EU Atrix that random reboots since day 1. It used to be a few times per month and now it's several times a day. I send it for repair under warranty and it came back unfixed as the repair center "couldn't encounter the issue". It already rebooted twice since it got back though.
I will definitely send it back if it's not fixed (what kind of crappy repair center is that !) but in the meantime : was someone who had the issue able to fix it ? If it's not hardware related, it can be the radio perhaps, I don't know.
Was this bug ever investigated ? Perhaps, you could tell me what would be the best procedure to track this bug down...
My build number : 4.5.2A-74_OLE-31.20
Radio : N_01.100.00R
Android 2.3.4
Thanks !
I did have the same random reboots when using data.
After flashing N_01.77.37P radio, random reboots disappear for me.

Could you specify me with Atrix did/do you have ? Is it secure to flash any radio on any Atrix ?
I used "alogrec" to monitor the phone's activity and this is the messages I get right before the reboot :

From what I've read, this is a data issue : data can't reconnect properly (which is a bug I actually have). However, these lines are appearing less than 2 minutes after a reboot so I don't see them being the exact reason for the reboot.
Which radios should I test for my build ?
Mine is an EU Atrix too.
For radio, some people suggest 36p and others 37p.
Sent from my TF101 using xda premium
Changing the radio didn't help. In fact, it's worse, I got like 6 reboots in 12 hours.
I think I need a replacement unit but it doesn't seem that they are willing to do that...it's still under warranty, I don't get this attitude.

[Q] Netflix/HBO/DRM protected content not playing

Hi,
I've been struggling to get Netflix and HBO Nordic working on my Galaxy S2 running Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightlies. I've tried Netflix 2.1.1 and 1.8.1, and a modded HBO 1.0 app bypassing the root check.

This is often caused from a kernel issue. I'd check to see if there's another MIUI compatible kernel for your phone to try. It helps to let us know what phone and version of MIUI being used too.

My phone is Huawei Y210D and this is just a rom port from GT-I9100. Can you build the kernel for this rom please? This is the link kernel of my device: http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=16407
Thanks for help
some one can help me please?
I'm not a kernel developer, sorry. Surely the people who posted the MIUI rom have a thread where you can ask them about the wifi issues or read if others have had similar problems?

Need help interpreting dump file for system rebooting itself.

My phone just keep rebooting itself. It's been sent out for "repair" a couple times now and they aren't able to fix it. They did replace the mainboard, but it's still rebooting. I was able to capture the dumpstate and see where it crashed, but I just don't know how to interpret the info. Can anyone help?

Yep, multiple times. However, they approved to just replace it so it's been shipped out to get replaced. But I would still be curious to know why it kept happening in the off chance an app or something else I was doing was causing it.
