[Q] What's going on with Google android planning - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Android 4.0 is already release on market ! why Android 3.0 only release to big company, does not release to public ?

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

Are you talking sources? Honeycomb was incomplete and only for tablets, so it made more sense for Google to wait til ICS, where the two cross and makke one universal Android OS, and is more complete. Honeycomb sources won't see the light of day, but ICS will, after the Galaxy Nexus's release.

When is the galaxy nexus coming out? And will there be less complex versions for weaker Devices

There is almost zero chance that phone can run ICS (at least in a reasonable manner) IMO.

Only if/when the CyanogenMod team do a version of it. By that stage Samsung will almost certainly have declared the GS2 well & truly obsolete.

Dumb dumb post. GSII is the flagship dude, why would they not update it? Lmao. Oh yea btw- Samsung is holding the event with Google on the 11th - they have close relationships

Of course SGS2 will get ICS, but it will probably take a while, my guess is Nexus Prime for sale in december, and ICS update for SGS2 maybe 3 months later in march.

SGS2 to get ICS Jan 2012?

Take this with a pinch of salt as it's far from official but:
Gaurav Hasabnis, an industry analyst and contributing editor of Fonearena.com posted on Twitter: “Something gonna come in Jan 2012. #sgs2 users gonna rejoice!”, followed by a second tweet: “Soon Mali400 gonna be in full use.”
The mentioned Mali 400 is the name of the GPU on the Samsung Galaxy S II. Rumors states Ice Cream Sandwich will utilize the the full potential of high-end smartphones better than previous Android OS, which leads us to believe that the ICS will be making its way to the Galaxy S2.

Thank you for the heads up. Hope GS2 will not take a long time to upgrade like the Samsung did for Galaxy S.
seems to match up with this
http://www.lifeofandroid.com/news_detail/ice-cream-sandwich-to-debut-on-android-handsets-in-weeks/
The worldwide release of Android 4.0 will begin in time for Christmas with Google’s Nexus S smartphone meaning the new OS should be broadly available for all compatible handsets by early 2012.

They hvn't even released the 2.3.4 update in India.Jan 2012 s too early a date for us i guess .

If they won't release it officially, I'm sure we'll get a custom rom with 4.0 running as soon as the Galaxy Nexus is launched But good news, anyway!
Just think. If it's January 'officially,' then it could be December (or earlier) for us!
That's a great news. Though I think we'll get ICS unofficially before that. Anyone?

Even if we are not getting the official update, i am sure xda developers will cook one for us.

Didn't Samsung drop development of 2.3.4 as they started 2.3.5
I still haven't got any official updates from 2.3.3 on a SIM free handset here in the UK.
Samsung UK have also tweeted that there is no time frame for getting ICS on the SGSII (read in to that what you want)
Think custom roms will be the only way forwards on ICS for some time.
Well that announcement is about Official release, NOT unofficial one. 70% users use Official ROM and like them, existing use this and that. Without a Stock ROM there won't be any Custom ROMs? Would there be?
Count me in those 70%.
We'll sure have some custom rom runnig ICS before the official one but I wonder what they'll do about touchwizz...
Looking forward to it

Official CM7

Not likely, CM9 is only for devices with > 512mb ram.
But we will have the version 7, right?

I believe RAM is not the real problem here, especially with CM, and especially if Nexus One can. And N One has the same amount of memory.
Probably the problem is the gpu or something like this.

I have moved on to a HTC Desire and sold this phone, but CONGRATS O1 USERS!
I only hope that he will not stop working on Optimus One. Seriously, in this moment no one wants to work on it (not over Gingerbread) and us users need a team like Cyanogen ready to put efforts if possible.

If I may elaborate on what Jrhodes85 was saying:
With the new baseband, the 1700Mhz band (which accounts for half of T-mobile's HSDPA coverage in the US, among other carriers) is completely unstable, if not non-existent.
Most international carriers' data works great, but O1 users in North America and possibly a couple other regions are slowly getting pushed into obsolescence.
so Franco did you managed to remove blackscreen bug with framebuffer console = n

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie

Android 5.0 beta is starting to gettin out. Who would like to have it on cooper too? For people that dont know is name: Android KeyLime Pie (Dont know acronim but think will be KP). For our Ace and many other phones KP only will reach us by CyanogenMod 11 (because according to rumors and a quite of logic letter K is 11th on alphabeth).
Xpectating OldDroid or Bieltv.3 start working on it too.
Good luck for them.

I hope so .
Android 5.0 key lime pie is predicted to arrive by this October to a new nexus device ( they say Google's next nexus will be in cohesion with the Motorola ). Anyways, it's all prediction. You'll never know anything until it's actually released ! What if android gets cloud backup as icloud in Apple ? Backup all your game data, music, pictures, etc and restore things back on new firmware...! Anytime, anywhere ! But for time being, just dream of it running smooth on ace, be satisfied with 4.2 ! Sad to see pioneers like wayland stop development Can anyone else make it ?! Who knows....?!

Thats assuming it can work on our device, ACE is already under a big strain running ICS/JB, if the new android is as much a jump as ICS was from GB, we might not actually be able to see it on our phones ever.

But they still got ics running on ace, didn't they ?! You can never predict what's coming next on the ace forums As far as I'm concerned, our ace forum is one of the busiest ( may be the busiest ! ) and the most active forum ! Our developers are not really developers, they are rock stars !!! Anyways, are developments for nexus 4 and galaxy s2 better than that for ace ? I think these are the only 2 phones that may surpass the magnitude of development in ace.
Sent from my GT-Xperia S using xda premium
Our devs are the best and the most buziest of all times i think
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
I agree, those guys are rockstars, nexus 4 and S2 forums devs don't exactly get such challenging jobs because they already have a good enough hardware available, but given the hardware limitations in our phone, its really amazing what our developers have achieved so far.
But still, it was a pretty big jump on hardware requirement when they released ICS, if its the same with Key lime pie, its possible that its requirements would really be out of our reach. Its a 2 year old model after all, and with the rate the technology is evolving, our phone is pretty close to being called ancient.

Nice
Who knows ?
Let's wait until Google releases it to AOSP.... Hopefully some one will make at least a booting build for us.. HOPEFULLY
Also I am curious how the phone will perform with all these animations everywhere... HOPEFULLY -again- it performs well...
I am almost certain that Android Lollipop will arrive for our S II. Its such a great device and not outdated by any means ( Mali-400MP4 GPU - quad core gpu-think about it), but the concern may be the updated drivers, if i am correct. BUT the latest Android One smartphones also have a similar GPU (Mali-400), but i wonder if its the same, and hopefully the drivers can be backported to S II.
We're waitin' 4 ya, Lollipop!
