Flash the firmware.zip from the official ota honeycomb zip file by extracting it and make sure you use 7zip. Also, make sure your s-on.

If you don't want to root, and, thus, invalidate your warranty, contact customer care.

I am on WIND how does one use an .exe rather than the .zip files to go back to an original rom?

I believe that the .Exe is a ruu (rom update utility). Basically you download it, plug your phone to usb, wait for it to be found, double click the .Exe. It will flash back to stock everything (at least it does on the sensation and other htc phones I've had). The .Zip is basically the same, except you put it on the root of your sd card, boot to hboot and wait for it to verify and flash. I hope that this helps.

[Q] [ask]flyer just wont boot after flashing

hey,i actually want to post this question on lee droid thread but im unable to reply in the thread so i post it here. i just bouht a used flyer its been rooted an used leedroid GB.since i want to use HC i just use the information on leedroid thread in xda to update it.i loaded the 534 mb rom to sdcard, put it in the recovery, backup it and install zip from sd card.but after 2 hours it wont boot after its succes to install.icant restore and stuck in recovery.im still able to charge though, what to do?
If you are asking why you could not flash Rom directly over gb ROM, it is because of different hboot. Does not matter how long you wait for it to boot. Flash gb version of Lee droid then read threads in development for obtaining soff hc
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
could you explain what soff hc is?
Missed the part that implied you purchased the flyer pre rooted

Read, read, read
Oh and hold volume down and power till you boot into hboot. Select fast boot and power off, then charge. Don't try anything crazy if you are not sure how much battery life you have left

so if im correct this is the solution?
Instructions Part 2
The large download is a stock HoneyComb 3.55.405.1 for 3G and 3.55.1114.31 for WIFI with the following changes:
Rooted
Busybox
Secure flag turned off on the boot image
Stock recovery replaced by CWM
Beginner procedure: If you are a novice using windows
Download the appropriate RUU file:
Code:
3G RUU_3G_B09.zip
after this i would be able to install any hc costum rom,am i correct?
Correct. Since you should already be s off gingerbread, because you are running leedroid so I would assume, you can use that method then try hc roms
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
thanks,so i dont need to flash the leedroid gb rom and go straight to stock HoneyComb 3.55.405.1 for 3G.then after that i could go to leedroid hc.will try this and thanks for helping me
Provided your battery has ample charge, yes

No worries

ok,i did and its booted up into leedroid hc 4.0 using this methode.
If you intend to immediately install a custom HC ROM:
3G-Wifi: f1a04839f7b187887c77b4ab552cc2fb HC-3G-light.zip
Wifi only: 3c3cf126250ba5c9d996262acc334942 PG41IMG-WIFI-light-B10.zip
Install the custom RUU
the i using this one:
Method 2: Using bootloader - NOTE I strongly recommend using method 1.
Rename the downloaded file PG41IMG.zip
Transfer the file to the root of your SD card
Reboot to hboot, which will detect and install the update.
Note it will require two passes to complete the upgrade due to hboot change
If you used the full upgrade file (BIG download) you are finished, enjoy.
If you used the light image now restore your nandroid backup or flash your custom ROM now - then you are finished.
thank you man

[Q] How to install Ice Cream Sandwich RUU on HTC Desire S?

I have an HTC Desire S and I want to download the official ICS update but I don't know how to get it. I downloaded the RUU off the HTCdev website but then I don't know what to do after that. Can someone just give me a clear cut way in how to install it please? Do I have to root or unlock bootloader? Thanks.

I want a fresh install of official ICS because my current custom ROM has bugs, will this RUU erase my current ROM and Clean install the ICS?
It will erase everything on the device except SD card, restore bootloader to locked state, format all partitions, and install offical ICS. It'll return your phone to factory condition, that's what the purpose of RUU is. Just connect your phone to your computer, run the RUU and let it do its thing. Suppose your custom ROM doesn't boot, then press and hold power+volume down, the phone will boot into bootloader and show 'FASTBOOT USB'. Now connect it to the computer and run the RUU, it'll work.
Note: You can only upgrade via RUU, not downgrade.

thanks buddy and please help me lil further,i have 2.00.2002 hboot and S-ON, so am i still able to install the official ICS or I have to do the S-OFF first??
No problem. S-OFF is only required for flashing custom recoveries and subsequently flashing ROMs. The state of the bootloader i.e. S-ON or S-OFF doesn't matter if you're running an RUU. It will restore the bootloader to stock S-ON state. Since ICS is the last RUU for Desire S, you can't have a hboot version that higher than the one in the RUU. So whatever hboot you have, just run the RUU and you'll be back to stock.
Thanx alot

Just download the RUU, connect your phone to Pc, execute the RUU.exe and let it do the rest of the job,you should install HTC sync to avoid any interceptions..

Will the ics up-gradation will replace my 4ext recovery to stock one?
I could not find the answer for it, that is why asking.
Sorry if spamming.
Backup/Restore App Recommendations?
From the posts in this thread I gather all data will probably be lost.
Are there any recommendations for a backup/restore app that:
1. Works with both GB & ICS seamlessly (would hate to backup and not be able to restore)
2. Works for Contacts/SMS and app settings as well.

Yes it will. It'll restore the stock recovery. You'll have to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery again if you want.

It's recommended not to restore application data between phones/ROMs. It can cause a lot of force closes, incompatibilities and errors. Also, you need to be rooted to restore data. You should always do a clean install when you get a new phone, which just involves adding your Google account, letting the phone restore contacts, apps, system settings etc automatically, and then reconfiguring all your apps. It doesn't take too long to do that if you do it quickly.
For SMS, use 'SMS Backup & Restore. Saving your contacts as Google contacts is the easiest and best way to restore contacts. That said, try Titanium Backup or the new and much easier to use 'Carbon - App Sync and Backup' if you want to backup and restore apps + app data.
Note: Restoring apps and app data requires root, so if you're unrooted, you must install apps from Play Store and set them up. You should do this anyway if you want to avoid all possibility of errors.

hi i need help

Looking for a rom,

Ok I am back on XDA and am not going to spam anymore. I need help with something. I am looking for a AOSP Rom in otherwords I want it to be pure android without htc sense. I have the HTC Evo 3D rooted with hboot 1.57.00000000 s-on (cant figureout the wiretrick).
Does anyone know of a AOSP or AOSP Rom based on latest version of ics or jb with all features working?
You can have almost everything working... 3d cam isnt working on anything that I know of outside of sense.

2 queastions does this mean i can still take 2d photos? and do you have a link to a pure ics or jb rom agian please note i have hboot1.57.00000 unlocked with htcdev and s-on?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507616
Works on s-on...3d and everything working...just that it is 4.0.3
Thanks I am going to try this later today I wish this ROM was based on of Jelly Bean but I don't mind ICS.

FYI if you want to run pure aosp ROMs you will need to downgrade your hboot in order to run them. In order to downgrade hboot, getting s-off is required. Follow this guide that was put together by ramjet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
You will need to be on stock ROM
Bootloader unlocked
Root
Insulated wire(a speaker wire or paper clip with electrical tape will be just fine)
USB debugging enabled
PC windows 7 or Linux
If you have your stock ROM backed up, great! That will save you the trouble of getting the appropriate ruu. If not, you will have to go get it.
Here are the steps to get back on stock if you don't have it.
Download appropriate ruu
Hook your phone up to your computer in fast boot( make sure USB debugging is enabled)
Run cmd and get to your fast boot directory
Type fastboot oem lock
If ruu is an exe file run the ruu from your computer
If not Rename ruu to PG86IMG in all caps.
Place on root of sdcard.
Power down phone into bootloader mode.
Let phone take update
After update unlock bootloader
Flash 4ext recovery
Flash superuser
In the guide it will tell you to do the wire trick. Make sure you study the picture and learn where to place the ends of the wire. Both ends must touch the contacts at the same time. Download appropriate control bear based on os, network(CDMA) and computer.
Edit: I must apologize I didnt realize you already attempted the wire trick. However there's no way around it unless you want to perform unknown forces downgrade method which requires you to brick your phone twice. Remember if you do do the wire trick you have to place both ends of yhw wire. On the contacts at the same time.

[Q] Easiest way to return my phone to stock to send back to Virgin Mobile?

I've been out of the loop with this phone for so long that I think I need a refresher on how to return this to stock. I am getting a replacement phone sent from Virgin Mobile as mine is having issues with the charging port and battery contacts making things crazy like the screen comes on randomly all the time and the headphone jack stops working. Should be easy as I am still on Jellybean, rooted, and I have Philz touch. Only thing I'm concerned about really is the HTC screen says "tampered" I've actually sent phones back to Virgin Mobile before though with custom roms on them without trouble but I don't know if they've gotten more strict.

Just run the RUU from the link above. You should be perfectly fine unless you tried to update to kitkat and failed in that case, flash the stock jellybean hboot from the same link. RUU is self explanatory.
I see the RUU is an exe file. Does that mean it needs to be run on the PC with my phone connected or on my phone?
Also to get rid of Philz touch and get stock recovery back I flash the stock recovery from that list?
HTC Desire 601 (Zara_CL)
Yes connect your phone to your pc and start the RUU. It will restore stock recovery for you. You'll need to be in boot loader when you start the RUU with administrative rights.
Sent from my HTC0P4E1 using XDA Free mobile app
U dont need to boot into bootloader. Just boot into android and run the ruu as administrator. If ur anti-virus detects it as a virus, disable it. Make sure u disable stand-by mode and close all runnin apps on ur pc
Okay sounds simple enough. Do I need adb drivers for the ruu.exe to communicate with my phone?
HTC Desire 601 (Zara_CL)
Yes. Go to htc.com and download htc sync manager. It comes with the driver for ur phone
I keep getting an error 155 when trying to do this? What am I doing wrong? thanks.
U need to relock ur bootloader. Get into fastboot and type fastboot oem lock
Thanks I finally found it out and it worked like a charm
