[Q] Rooted Galaxy Nexus won't connect to mobile network after factory reset - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I decided that I wanted to bing my rooted Galaxy Nexus (Rogers) back. I when I reset the rooted device I could no longer connect to any mobile network. Also, I can't and the Rogers APN, and whenever I try to connect under "Network operators" in settings, it says it "can't connect to network at this time". What can I do? should I proceed to bring the device back (I unrooted before I knew about this problem)?

I really sorry to hear that. There are three ways to fix this however.
1: If you have Verizon dial *228 and program your device by pressing 1.
2: Call your mobile newtwork and have them manually reconnect it.
3: Call the Mobile company and ask them what they want you to do.

[Q] mobile network state disconnected

ive been using the phone for a few weeks now and it was fine until today, i cant connect to the internet via edge . ive tweaked with all the settings but nothing seems to work. everything else is fine . ie i can make calls and send text's but i cant connect to the internet. i checked under the status and it shows the mobile network state is disconnected. i have no clue as to wat this is since im new to android.
pls help!
Have you turned MOBILE DATA off via the power on/off menu .
jje
ive checked that too.
Go to Settings- Wireless and Network- Mobile Networks- Access Point Names and see if the APN is ticked or not or the correct APN is ticked.
everything is back to normal again,it connected to the internet, by itself . must be a random bug in the os
problem solved. peace
I have experienced the same thing with my phone, except that it shows "activated". After a while it just started working again.
I've had the phone for a couple of months now and everything has worked fine till now, a little bugs here and there but no issues. A few weeks back (on android 2.3.3) I was unable to make or receive calls, but surprisingly was able to make text messages. I tried everything, turning flight mode on/off; the phone on/off; etc. I was on the verge of contacting Samsung but then suddenly the thing started working once I came back home from the office.
There has been no problems till then but today suddenly (now on android 2.3.6) the outgoing calls no longer work, same for outgoing text message; but I still get incoming calls and messages.
Just to be sure that this wasn't a SIM or service issue, I tried changing SIM's (different SIM did not work on the phone) and used my SIM on different phone (where it worked).
Also 3G doesn't work as well, but connection here is spotty so I wouldn't trust that. The only message I see different on the 'About Phone' tab is 'Mobile State-Disconnected'. I have full signal strength and all that.
My thoughts are that it was, or rather is a phone specific issue and would appreciate someone else's thoughts on the matter. As to my problem I assume it will sort itself out in a little while.
FYI: Samsung Galaxy S2; Android 2.3.6; NOT rooted; Indian version; On Airtel Mobile Network.
Mobile network state disconnected.

phone is stuck on claro network (dominincan republic)

Standard htc one m9 with ATT. not rooted and up-to-date with android 5.1.
I went to domincan republic for 2 weeks and I purchased the att passport package. Once I was there, I searched for networks and used the Claro 4g network over there the whole time. Once I return to the US, the phone refuses to automatically connect to the ATT network and continues to search for the claro network.
What Ive done so far.
-muliple restarts
-remove sim
-When I go into network operators, both options "search networks" and "select automatically" are greyed out and I cant select them
-When the phone is restarted, the "network operators" screen pops up and lists ATT, sprint and verizon. But when I try select any of them, i get an error message saying "operation failed"
-ive reset the APN to default multiple times
Heres where it gets weird. I popped out the sim and put it into my htc one m7 and the phone works fine and connects to the att network. I can make calls and use the web. Once I place the sim back into the M9, it will connect to the att 4g network briefly. I can make a call to my voicemail very quickly once i gain service and it will work and I can browse the web during the call. Once the phone call hangs up, the connectivity bars slowly go down until i lose service and the a msg pops up saying "Claro Network unavailable". I can repeat this cycle over and over.
I tried placing the sim card back in and resetting the APN right away a bunch of times. This actually allowed me to stay connected to the ATT network for a few days. HOWEVER, I had to restart the phone and I was back to square one.
ATT was no help and they basically told me to hard reset the phone. WTF.
Any advice?
anyone?

Have Lost the Ability to control APN and Choose Mobile Networks Suddenly

Hello XDA,
I have a Galaxy Note 3. It is running:
Android 5.1.1 n9200zCU2AOl2 Phronesis V5;
kernel version 3.4.110-idleKernel-hlte-eur-6.6.5-note5port [email protected] #1
Unlocked
TLDR: I can't access APN or look at a list of networks. This is all I see: http://imgur.com/a/83YGW
I bought the phone from Rogers Canada. Unlocked last year. I recently attempted to port my number from Freedom Mobile to Public Mobile. I received an error when activating my SIM chip on their website, but when I powered up the phone. I was able to make calls, and to use data.
The data was unbearably slow, however, and so I went into mobile networks under settings, and told it to go to LTE. I don't remember what the exact setting set, and I can't reproduce it at the moment. I had LTE speeds on the phone now.
About three hours later, I noticed I had absolutely no ability to send or receive calls. But data was still working. I attempted to see if it was connecting to the wrong network, but when I went to see a list of mobile networks, nothing. Just those settings you see above on the screenshot.
Another hour had passed. Now, no data, no calls.
Public Mobile told me that there was an error in porting, and that they would fix it. They "confirmed" that it was fixed about four hours ago.
Despite being an unlocked phone, every SIM chip I put in fails to provide me with any connection. Now all it says on the lock screen is "searching for service."
I don't see what I could have done to have physically changed the menu settings inside the phone. I tried booting in safe mode. I even backed up my ROM, wiped it, and flashed an earlier backup from last year I saved. Nothing.
I'm really stuck, and would appreciate any advice that anyone can provide. I can also provide anything else you might need. Thanks.

New owner. How to transfer ownership.

Hi i just got the verizon g6. The original owner did a factory reset but now i am trying to set it up and its asking for account details of (original) owner.
How can this be corrected? Does google or verizon assist with this.
The phone is unblocked through verizon. IMEI checked and the previous owner is being helpful
I got this bit solved with the help of the previous owner.
I am on mint sim and have got the phone and sms working BUT when i got to turn mobile data on it asks i call Verizon (i set up APN as per mint web site)
Any ideas?
Ok now I get mobile data from settings, but short cut from dropdown menu to turn on mobile data doesnt work (neither does the switch from the 'mobile network's). In both cases it asks I call verizon customer service.
The only way i can turn on mobile data is from settings , and at the top there is a message in blue 'mobile data is off, turn on?'
How can i fix the 'call verizon customer service' and enable mobile data from the dropdown short cuts? ThIs is a pain.
The sim inside the phone is Mint Sim.
Any ideas?

Will rooting this solve my problem. Again I am on mint with an unlocked verizon LG G6.
Thanks.

S9+ will only make/receive voice calls in duo mode

Just what the title says. My phone tells callers that I'm not accepting calls and when I attempt to make calls it simply refuses to do so or displayed a "call ended" message without ever dialing the other person. Everything else works fine and I can even make voice calls if I use duo mode instead of mobile. I can also receive calls if the caller uses duo mode.
Have been through everything except an actual reset. Unable to do that since the phone was a hand-me-down and I don't know the PIN. I've about reached the point where I do a hard reset manually but I hate to lose my data. Does anyone have anything I could try to either bypass or recover the PIN or something I could use to get mobile mode to work again?
Your sure you have service? If you do, do you have credit? Both of those would prevent you making calls. You can still use Duo if your on WiFi or you have a data only service. If you are showing that your connected to the network and you are certain you have minutes in your plan or credit available then you will need to call your network provider so they can see if there's any network issues preventing your calls. Check the network operators status page to see if there's issues in your area.
@Nofsdad
It appears that when using a Galaxy S9+ with ATT service the phone is unable to do VoLTE
The way that I was able to have internet on the phone and voice calling was to go into the APN and set the Network Mode to 3G/2G (auto connect)
That fixed it for me. Still pissed off that I can't use LTE but oh well it will work until I upgrade the phone.

Hello, I have an unlocked s9 that is going through a similar issue in not being able to make or receive calls. Can you let me know how you got the APN settings for 3G/2G? Going to APN settings I only see the nxgenphone setting open and active, which I heard was for LTE.
Also, can you let me know what setting it has to be in the 4636 mobile network settings in order to restore data? Thanks
