[Q] MicroSD upgrade - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
How much does memcard speed (class) affect system speed ?
I have original X10i 8GB class2 card. I think of upgrade to class10.
Does this speed up photo shooting?
Does this improve camcorder video FPS on 720p ?
Any other information is welcome!
Thanks!

4GB SDHC on Rhodium 400?

Hi all,
For android on TP2 (rhodium 400 for my case), would it be worth upgrading to a 4GB SDHC to run the android files?
Would it be noticeably faster?
I see 4GB microSDHC goin for about $8 on Amazon, and I might go for one if it makes any difference in android performance. Anybody's opinions?
Currently I have 2GB (I think class 1).
Thanks in advance.

If it's not an SDHC (or better) card it's technically "classless". At any rate, I doubt seriously that you'd see any better performance on it. I have a 2gb "classless" card and an 8gb class4 card, and honestly Android runs about the same on either card...

most of the 2gb cards are pretty good in speed, name-brand manufacturers didn't have to put a class on it - i get around 19mb/s read, 10mb/s write on my sandisk 2gb.
anything more - 4gb/8gb/16gb/32gb have classes because they had to do some tweaking for the sdhc specifications, with classes meaning minimum sequential write (C2, C4, C6, C10 = minimum 2mb-4mb-6mb-10mb/s sequential write). obviously, there are some cards that could perform faster than their minimum write speed (my sandisk 32gb C2 does 5.5mb/s write, and my a-data 16gb C4 does 9mb/s write)
just don't get a crappy generic
Mine must be classless. I am not exactly sure how fast my 2gb is, but it's at a decent speed. When I transfer about 200 mb files, it takes me about a minute roughly. I will just stick to my 2gb then.
Saves me $8 bucks! Thanks to both.

[Q] RAZR MAXX / Sandisk 43GB class 4 - 1080p HD+

Hi guys,
Need an advice. I just bought a Sandisk 32GB class 4 microSD because the price was very good compared to class 10 ones.
I tested it with SD Tools and I had write speeds between 5-7Mb and read speeds between 18-20Mb.
Now the question: Which bandwidth uses Razr for full HD+ 1080p recording?
I've read a lot of oppinions that at least class 6 is needed to avoid loosing frames and also that Sandisk class 4 should perform well.
Anyone knows what cache settings has the Razr? This is also an important factor.
Anyone tested this card for recording of videos with more that 15 minutes? Is the size of the file written influencing the write speed?
Thanks.

Well , HD+ video will work but will be choppy .. Even if you increase your cache size to 2048 KB , your recoding a 15 min video ! , i really doubt you will be able to get the smooth frames ( atleast 30 FPS) .. You can give it a try though
The SD Association has the following recommendations:
Class 2 : H.264 video recording, MPEG-4, MPEG-2 video recording
Class 4: MEPG-2 (HDTV) video recording, digital still camera (DSC) consecutive photo shooting
Class 6: Mega-pixel DSC consecutive photo shooting, professional video camera
Class 10: Full HD video recording, HD still picture consecutive shooting
PCMag also had an article called Flash Memory Cards: What you need to know that you might find interesting.
There has been some discussion on if the Razr can utilize Class 10 speeds.
Per Matt (Forums Moderator at Motorola support), "The Class 10 card will work at rated speed for video recording. But if you were loading the SD card with media from your PC, it would transfer at the Class 6 speed of about 8 MB/s."
Thanks for answer SAJdroid but I am curious if someone tried HD 1080p recording using this card. I know the articles and also the recommendation but I really doubt that Razr writes more than 4MB/s when capturing. Also another problem can be, on big 32GB ones, that most probably when the card is 70% full it might became slower. I've read also threads where they claimed that S3 is writing 1080p with max 2Mb/s.... so my 5-7Mb/s might be Ok for full HD video recording. For copying big files from PC, indeed, a class 10 is much faster.
More than this, the simplest test:
1) I made a 1 min video at 1080p and the size of the file was 120-130Mb... so 2.x Mb/s. If it is linear.
2) then I made a 2 min video at 1080p and the size of the file was 220 - 240Mb... rule remains valid.

[Q] Swap Partition and SD card class[SOLVED]

My phone is Xperia X10 Mini Pro
I was testing MiniCM10 with swap partition (256mb) and SDcard 8gb class4, and is real smooth and fast, but a little problem is the multitask.
My question is:
Changing my SDCard to a 16GB Class 10, will i get a best perfomance on multitask? Anyone tested?
I was reading and some forums say that X10 Mini pro have a read speed limit for SD is true?
Sorry for my bad english.

Well, I use an 8gb class ten sdcard with a 256 MB ext4 partition. When I run a tool like sdtools or antutu benchmark, it shows me max write speed 11.4 MB/s and up to 19.2 MB/s read speed, so I don't think there is a limitation (with my old 2gb class four, I used the same tools and I had 3,5 MB/s write speed and 8,3 MB/s read speed)
Please press thanks if I helped .

And about the perfomance on minicm10 with your 8gb class 10, is better on multitasking?

It´s way better than on my old sdcard.
Today i bought a SDHC 16GB Class 10.
My configuration is:
Swap 256mb
Swapinness 50
Enable KMS
Ext4 512MB
Min: 245Mhz
Max: 729Mhz
Smartssv2
And is real smooth and fast MiniCM10

Does the Z3 support UHS-1 speeds on Micro SDXC cards?

Does anybody know if this tablet actuaklly supports UHS-1, while mean that it uses the UHS bus and thus cann write/read with this speeds?
I do not ask if such sd cards work in the tablet, which they do. i want to know if the tablet can use the full performance potential.
I did a speed test with a benchmark app and it seems it doesn't support the full speed of my uhs-1.....
I should try with other test apps
