[Q] Phone -> Car Speaker "adapter" - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
My Peugot's built-in radio/CD player has broken, and I just want to interface my phone and the car's speakers. I understand I'll need some sort of amplifier at some point along the chain.
Apparently this is a strange request, but I want to listen to content off of my Atrix in my car through the car's speakers, and I would rather use the phone's excellent touch screen interface rather than a head unit with a load of crappy push buttons and knobs etc.
I could maybe cope with a volume knob... but that's not essential.
Basically, something like this but for non-iPhones and therefore not costing £200:
http://www.oxygenaudio.com/o-series/363-o-car.html
I had a look in Halfords and the conversation with the Sales Nerd went a bit like this when he showed me what he thought I wanted:
Me: What is it?
Sales Nerd: It's got a CD changer!
Me: A CD changer... a CD changer? I don't even own *a* CD, let alone many CD's that would necessitate an entire changer. What am I gonna do with a CD changer? Are you mental?

So, I don't own any CD's (nor - FSM forbid - any tapes), I don't carry small USB pendrives with MP3s on them around with me, I don't listen to radio, I do take all my media/GPS/calls through my phone: are there any "head units" with nothing but an amp and a 3.5mm jack input ("aux") or A2DP? Surely this should be cheaper for Kenwood etc. to make?

I remember this thread where the OP configured his jeep to use a Nook Color as a multimedia interface and used an active EQ connected to the amps.

In addition to the Nook, I'm adding a Hifonics HFEQ. This will allow me fine control over the signal being sent to the amps. I can switch between inputs and use it as the main volume control.

I hope this points you in the right direction. If it does, just remember the OP.

at the mo i use the Moto cardock and a tape2phono adap to connect up in my van (Wires everywhere ). But amp could be pain in the butt if your not fond of wiring. For not much more money and probablly less hassel than that amp u can get a new headunit with builtin inputs Phono/usb/bluetooth that your phone could jack upto. My old Pug (306gti6) was Standard iso connectors so headunit would be straight swap. Also my old headunit had rear phono connector so all wiring was behind the dash and phone would charge via the dock,
If you wanted to be posh you can connect via bluetooth and control you phone via your headunit and you phone goes into the headunit. But never used this method yet.

Hope this helps a lil

You need a head unit that can stream music from your phone or media device via blue tooth or via USB connection

Bluetooth Audio Quality, EVO 3D

I couldn't find another thread but i have noticed this in all the htc evo 3d roms / stock roms... i have the same headset on a motorola photon and never get this problem. the bluetooth quality when playing music is terrible, there is a "screeching " sound to every bit of noise unless the volume is super low... i never had tinnitus before but i believe this is what may have caused it, i didn't realize it until it was too late, thanks HTC now you can add another person to your class action lawsuit... whatever. don't know where to post this but i'll post it here
No issues with my bluetooth audio on my EVO 3D
I use Bluetooth audio off my Evo 3D everyday at home and at work and never experienced any issues as you are describing. At home I use the Soundfreaq SFQ-1 and at work I use Philips AS140 and both have full rich sound with no screeching when connected via Bluetooth. However, I have seen issues where not all Bluetooth devices work with every phone... I think it might be incompatibility with your particular Bluetooth headset and the EVO 3D.
I use blue tooth for all my music in my car using the head unit below. I was actually surprised at how amazing it sounds. Maybe the issue is with the device you are connected to? I made sure to get a head unit with the parrot blue tooth module.

The bluetooth stack on Sence has always been terrible since day one going all the way back to the Hero.
Using different roms seems to have a pretty big effect on bluetooth audio.
Try zr3d 3.0 gt rom by dropzero c. aftyer establishing a bluetooth connection, start playing some music from the music apk, then go menu, sound enhancer, enable BEATS. you will never go back!

[Q] Is there any Android-based GPS navigator?

Hi,
I have a GPS Navigator for my car, which is GARMIN, but I prefer the Google Navigator and Google Maps.
My question is clear, Is there an Android-based GPS Navigator device?
Or
Can I flash Android to my car's GARMIN device?
Is there a reason you don't want to use an Android phone to run the Google Maps/Nav application ?

My thoughts exactly. Why put Android onto a dedicated GPS device when you can have GPS within Android?

I have the same question, I've got 3 Garmins and they are all giving out. New Garmin devices have reduced functionality and the prices are higher! Its completely retarded.
I actually did try using an Android phone as a GPS, as I've got a spare Galaxy device with dock, audio out, and hard wired power adapter. There is no way a phone will do the heavy lifting that my Garmin devices do. Here is a list of requirements that you need in a GPS that Android on phones don't meet.
Visibility with a matte screen. For use in a standard car or a convertible, you have to have a matte screen for seeing while driving.
Power on automation and reliability. The device needs to power up on its own and be ready to go without any user interaction. One of my Garmin devices starts playing my MP3 playlist on boot up through AUX in my stock head unit.
Rock solid GPS reception. I've never had a phone be near as accurate as a GPS unit.
Offline maps
I used Sygic on my Galaxy and the processor ran at full speed to keep the app running smoothly, overheating it after a while. Partially due to being in the sunlight on my dashboard. The screen was practically unreadable due to glare.
Here are some features I would love to have if I had a Garmin form factor and screen with Android:
Wifi auto connect to my house when I part, for map updates and to rsync my music collection
Better bluetooth connect and phone call interrupt
AUX input for an analog trucker style radio, to communicate with other cars and trucks
Any ideas? Maybe a device that supports custom ROMs, Android or non-android?

Power Amp EQ Settings

I'm lost when it comes to EQ settings, any help would be amazing.
I'm using power amp to stream music via blue tooth to my car stereo. And have no idea about the settings
Sent from my Galaxy SIII using xda premium
Moved to correct sub forum.
This depends very much on the music listened to and your ears as no one hears exactly same as others.
So to start you want the car EQ to flat so as to not interfere with EQ settings on PA, now sound is produced in Sine waves.

The left end is the lower frequencies sub bass going up to the right the higher frequencies treble.
That's my setup on Winamp and i listen to dubtep, this is very easily changed to listening material Low-Mid-Treb
Hope that helps.
So my bass, treble, and mid on my head unit should be set to 0? And just adjust my sound from my phone?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Yes as otherwise you'll have 2 EQ's on the go so set car to flat, you could always use the car to increase bass if you have a sub setup etc.
If you noticed in the images they line in sine my 3rd slider was topping but should have been slightly off.
I don't have experience using bluetooth car audio, but I find its better to send the audio flat from the phone to your car stereo when using 3.5mm aux. Your car stereo will have its own EQ that is built to take flat audio as a source. Unless its not adequate then you can try an EQ app on android. But from my experience EQ apps do great for helping earbuds sound better but shouldn't be used on a full size sound system that features its own EQ.
Yeah could do that but most in car stereos the same as allinone stereos tend to just have presets.
Also PA has a nice punch especially on slight amplification prior to out.
This sounds good on my skullcandy hesh
Hope it works for u
reply
Try decreasing all the buttons to zero..thn check increasing them one by one till u find when its working...
Njy gud music

There's another one by iBolt that looks good, but it doesn't have audio out through the usb port. I don't know if the case duo has audio out, if I have to, I will use the headphone jack. I have a mount for my droid3 and it's awesome. The droid3 mount doesn't even have to be plugged in, it just sits on the plug. I ordered the case duo, I'll report back.
I got the case duo yesterday. It's sturdy, supports the phone well on my windsheild and dash. The case duo does not launch carmode automatically qnd does not have an audio out through the mini usb port. I think the iBolt would've been better. The iBolt will automatically launch carmode an it's probably adjustable to fit another phone. The case duo is specifically designed to fit the DNA so there's no chance of fitting another phone without serious modification.
Thanks for the info!

You could use NFC tags to launch your car into car mode turn on bluetooth and turn up screen brightness and such. I plan on insetting this case and that is what i plan doing with it. thank you for review. The app i am using to run those task is NFC task launcher
I use tasker to do things when bluetooth is on. I have th app from ig88 called car mode that automatically launches carmode. I also use cardock home from ig88, because it has live wallpaper, widget support an I can see music visualizers on it. They have a speedometer widget and shortcuts to play and stop music. When car dock home launches it turns on bluetooth, so my torque app connects, auto brightness off, brightness to 255, vol up, hotspot on(for kids and their nexus), and netron music app starts playing. I tried NFC, but it was too much to tap it again to undo everything, tasker works better for me.

how to control motor on my android board

I inherited for work an android board that moves 2 motors, I have to basically move the motors trough software,
How can I find out how the current system is moving the motors?
I have rooted the OS to have more control, the system is running with a custom launcher, there is a button that activates google assistant after that is active, the order to move the motor can be given.
I need to find the way that the DC motor is being moved?, can I intercept the method?
is looking at the pins that go to the DC motor any help?
the board runs android and is like a normal tablet, it just moves 2 DC motors, I took it apart to see how the motors were moving?

Thanks

what techniques exist to send a signal to turn on a dc motor with android embedded system?
I mean the driver chips that turn the motor, the signal will come from somewhere right?
does it matter at the hardware level?
like addressing a pin or a GPIO in a raspi?
the software that moves the motor is an activity that interacts with the googlesearchbox
that could be other way to intercept the command turning the motor on/off.
Any ideas, please?
