[Q] Remapping Status Bar buttons - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I've been using Mantano as my current reader and was looking for a way to change the status bar book icon to redirect to Mantano instead of opening the stock reader. Does anyone know if this is possible at the moment? I've rooted using Indirects method months ago.

Default App Manager will allow you to change the default at will.
Good Luck!

Sense App Drawer

Is there a way to hide certain apps from the app drawer without rooting? I know there are different launchers that are able to do this but I like the stock Sense launcher.
Also, Is there a way to remove the recent apps from the notification bar?
Thanks in advance.

I could be totally wrong here but it seems like what you're asking for is going to require root.

Even if I rooted, I think the only way would be for me to use Root Explorer and renaming the .apk file to .bak... Unless anyone else knows of other methods?
Why do you want to hide them? Are you trying to hide bloatware w/o rooting?
I think rooting is going to be the way to go. Sure you can find some launchers that hide them, but Sense doesn't play nicely with them.
I use launcher pro (rooted, BeastMOD 1.3.1), so I have two docks with 5 icons each with a standard and a swipe gesture. i also have widgets for more important things, so the ONLY use I have for my app drawer is to access apps that I use relatively rarely.
For example, I have the Digital Clock widget on my home screen. I have zero use to look at an icon for it taking up space in my app drawer.
I have a similar (but different) question. Is is possible to organize the downloaded apps in the drawer in alphabetical order? It currently puts the most recently dl'd apps at the top, making finding apps a pain in the ass. My phone is stock and unrooted.

Without rooting I guess you must use some launcher with function to hide or grouping.
I used ADW EX and it caused no problem with stock Sense. With ADW you can set up groups and put apps that you don't like into a group and name it "junk" or something like that and never touching that group when open app drawer ...
Edit: Sorry for my replied making no sense since you stated that you wanted Sense ... Just disregard this post
Oh well...sense is too nice to give up for another launcher..

[Q] tnt lite 4.40 status bar

I just flashed my gtablet over to tnt lite 4.40 so I could play pvz. I did the market fix, but not everything is there. So far I've noticed that adw launcher is the only thing missing (I haven't looked for everything). Also, when I go into an app with a white background (e.g. the gmail app), the entire status/notification bar is white and I can't see anything (e.g. the time, etc).
Is there a way to fix these 2 problems?
I see the ADW launcher in Market. I have TNT Lite 4.4 too.
Try the build.prop olympus fix for Market.
I use Launcher Pro and have the same problem with gmail. I think it
is due to background color of app being the same as foreground color
of launcher. I dont see a way in Launcher Pro of setting the font color.
Maybe Launcher Pro Plus with a different theme would do it. Some apps
like K9 mail can change the background color too. Gmail cant.
However it does not bother me, usually going to settings in the app
like gmail, gives the time, as the settings are usually dark background.
OK, thanks. I'll try the olympus fix. Do you know if there's a way to change the status/notification bar so that it's not transparent?

Modding your framework.rez files might work.

Where is the framework.rez?
It should be in system/framework
and its the Framework-rez.apk.
Idk if that's really what you'd need to use but you could always post up in the ROMs designated forum and ask the Dev.
Framework works for most theming at least on devices I have used.

Adding shortcuts for stock Web or Reader on desktop?

I am still learning how to do things. Is there a way to add shortcuts on opening the stock B&N Web browser and Reader to the desktop like you can with other app downloads? I hate always having to hit the home "N" button to bring up the options for Web/Reader access... Very annoying.
I am rooted and have blocked the OTA already.

Are you using the default launcher or a 3rd party app?
What launcher are you using? You should be able to tap and hold in the app drawer and drag them to the desktop.

I want to use the default launcher and not Golauncher. As far as I can tell, they don't show up in the default app drawer or in app manager when using the default launcher.

Check out this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hari.sideloadapps&hl=en
You will be able to put apps and shortcuts on the normal launcher.
It will also appear in your normal app library along with the others.
I have to Nook Color App Manager, but the Web browser doesn't seem to show up in there.
Also, I can find the .apk for the browser in /system/app as browser.apk, but that only installs the app.
Have you tried the app 'anycut'?
Sent from my rooted NT using Tapatalk
Yes, tried Anycut also. The newly created shortcut doesn't show up on the desktop. If I run Go Launcher and use Anycut... Then the newly created shortcut for The browser shows up with no problem. I just want it in the default launcher.
I've tried asking the forums here if anyone had figured out how to launch the reader with a shortcut or application, aka a shortcut similar to the "open book" icon on the Nook bar. Little response, lol.
I've tried anycut and the nook color app to no success. "Reader.apk" does not launch my currently open book. It just opens a blank screen. I've settled to accept just opening the library first and then opening my book.

Any suggestions?

So far I am using ADWLauncher EX, Aldiko, Astro, Elixir, and Extended Controls. I mainly want my Nook for reading books so does anyone have a suggestion for anything better or that will combine some of those?
Also, is there a disc cleaner or defrag app or is it even needed?
Also looking for a simple calendar app which I have not been able to find the right one. All I want is a simple text showing the date and month like "16 January or January 16th". Nothing else, one line of text and no other graphics. If this was tied to a full blown calender that I could add stuff to is a plus but not really needed. I have tried simi clock, simple calendar widget, and elixir so far.
Well got rid of Elixir and Aldiko (found that Mantano is better for me). Anyone got any ideas for my calendar problem?
what kind of book formats are you using?
i usually end up using the kindle app for pdf...just put the pdf into your kindle folder and restart app
kingsoft office (which was free) for editing documents and reading
There are probably other options, but I've been using Fancy Widgets and it has an option to add the date to the clock widget. I personally have an all-in-one widget at the top of the screen with time, date, and weather.
I also use Android Agenda Widget on my phone, and it shows the current date with a summary of upcoming calendar events.

I use smooth calendar widget is very simplistic. For the date in text you could make it yourself using minimalistic text.

Thank you so much, minimalistic text was what I was looking for, now my nook is complete!!!!
Anyone know how to get only 1 "page" instead of the 5 I can scroll through now?
Just put in CM7 and using ADW launcher pro of that helps, was able to do this before I put in CM7 but forget how to do it.

Flashlight app

I can't open the flashlight app. It says that i don't have the rights to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi, I think it only works if you are using the stock launcher... I'm using NOVA launcher and it doesn't work... Using the in-built Huawei widgets doesn't work with Nova either....you've got to use ones from the play store etc.
Solution:- use the torch feature from the notification tray. Hope this helps.

From what I've seen, none of the Huawei-supplied widgets work with third-party launchers - I tried putting the Huawei weather widget onto Nova and it crashed it (necessitating an uninstall-reinstall to fix).
There are three ways to get your torch to work;
Access it from the notification pull-down
Draw a letter on the screen with your knuckle (needs to be enabled in "Smart Assistance" - I use "c" for camera, "e" for torch, "m" for PlayerPro and "w" for weather), or
Swipe up from the lock screen.
Of these, I've found the last to be most convenient - the most likely times that you'll want your torch are when your 'phone's locked.
