4g - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will the Samsung galaxy s3 support 4g in the UK
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium

Yes it will be. 4G will be released fully in the UK in 2013.
Even though other countries have already got 4G the officals over hear have confirmed testing it over hear as a success.
They are not releasing it here until they have got at least 95% of UK coverage.
I hope this helps.

No

Yes it will be. 4G will be released fully in the UK in 2013.
So the bids have finished and the license for 4G spectrum awarded .
????
AS its not yet sold expect a roll out date nearer 2014 certainly not early 2013 .
Thats if the EC harmonizing of the wireless spectrum
commision does not get in the way .
jje

I didn't think the s3 international was capable of 4g?

It isn't -_-

Reply was to the guy that more or less implied 4G is ready when its yet to be auctioned off .
SGS3 JKay will have a mod for 4G .
jje

as I understood it, it can't use 4g due to hardware and no mod will overcome that...and his question was...will the s3 support 4g?

A few of us have gotten slightly different info via the T-Mobile upgrades team, stock won't arrive till the 13th (they get stock every friday apparently), they can start doing upgrades as soon as it appears on their system, normally the same day stock arrives but possibly 1-2 days before this, if you are due an upgrade then ringing on the wed/thurs to check for stock is suggested.
im so lost at what clove is doing, they sent me an email saying may 6th, but their website says the 1st..
Rumours are VF will be releasing this on Tuesday. However, it still shows as Coming Soon (with no date) on their website.
On three site it says coming soon and it says may stock may have arrived today sell for tomorrow?

1st May was the official UK release date. However,This doesn't mean every network/retailer will have it. A few retailers got it last week.
I don't know about outside of UK.

[Q] Sprint Epic 4G Touch (aka samsung gs2)

Hello all, now that Sprint has confirmed the release date for their version of this awesome device, I'm wondering if there'll be a separate forum for it, or will this be it?
Any clue? I tried searching for the device on xda site, but it isn't listed yet.
Because it's not even out yet, i would bet there's enough differences with the hardware that international sgs2 roms won't work as it's, and modems defiantly won't

Exactly. That's why I'm thinking a new forum section may get added specifically for it and (maybe) other US variants.

2013 and beyond.
AT&T never release official date on updates. In rare case they did, they typically blew it. For example, AT&T promised GB update for Captivate last fall. It ended up released in Feb., 2012.
PCWorld Australia says by the end of March, and Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-Review.com said rollouts are supposedly beginning March 1.

Bummer! Whatever I'm satisfied with what I've got!
Samsung's Update and ATT update timelines are completely different. The i7000 will probably get it April time frame. Don't hold your breath for a carrier update.
We will be looking for custom roms well before ATT.
When it comes out for the international version, any chance those can be modified by devs to work with the lte version? With a working camera lol

Not likely at all, otherwise we would already have a million roms ported over from the N7000 forum.
I have the Int Note and been playing with an ICS rom and it's a really nice OS. I can't go back to GB now that I tried out ICS.

I actually thought it meant, "Our original ICS version had at least 1 major bug that we discovered when testing in real-world situations and we aren't going to release it until it is ready for everyone."
Of course, they could have also meant, "At least one of our 'content partners' (who are paying big bucks to get their advertisement disguised as an application inserted into our release) hasn't actually sent in their app yet and we aren't going to release it until it is monefied for everyone."
LOL im so surprised people are surprised by lack of updates from telus/rogers/bell
we may get most phones before the usa, but we pay for it with our carriers holding back updates

who says you have to have or keep that stuff? root is there for a reason
throw on one of the highly debloated roms in the dev section based off LE2 leak.
or go one further and put one of the aosp based roms on there and be gone with all the ATT and Samsung bloat

I don't like AOSP ROMs, I was using OnlyOne HYFR B4, and it still has those AT&T things in Wi-Fi settings, and carrier name on the status bar.
Actually they were not big deal but it had some kind of bug, when I try installing an app from APK file, I can click "Cancel" but I can't click "Install".
So, I will be staying on rooted stock Gingerbread ROM with the holoNote kernel and wait for official ICS from TELUS.
Wow that's rediculous.....

This kind of BS is why I almost got the Galaxy Nexus instead of the Note since Samsung is so ****ty at providing OS upgrades for anything that isn't a Nexus device (due to Google). Add the typical carrier delay on top of that..

I'm confused. Gnex already came with ICS loaded in Canada??? That's what the sales rep at Rogers were telling me. She also said G Note is getting its ICS update in March.
So did she lie to me twice?

Gnex is ICS out of the box.
@JamieD81, we're in the same boat with bricked N7000's. I bought another N7000 with a cracked screen just for the motherboard, since the only place to get N7000's fixed is in Europe. Plus I went thru 3 mainboards on my I9000M. I still buy Sammie's crap, but I'm being a little more careful about flashing roms now. I'm waiting until the official rom is released, and played with enough before I throw my i717 on the line this time.

Yes its ics out of box but 4.0.2 to 4.0.3/4 took/taking longer then Google's branded gnex
And I can't find any damaged n7000's to salvage :-(

Oh well not the worst thing in the world at least we have leaks but maybe on the 12th we could see if the s2 X official ics modem will work with our phone for better hspa speeds as I'm sure allot of people on Telus don't have LTE available
Edit: S2X ICS was released today ahead of schedule before an ATT or T-Mobile release, so the future is looking friendly (<-- see what I did there)
They updated the schedule !

I9035 in America

Hi I was wondering if the I9035 will be released in America?
If not, where can I buy it?
And also, would I be able to use any carrier like tmobile or verizon?

You actually mean I9305 which I own but I am from australia. There was a user from the US on t-mobile and he stated it worked Only on Edge... Dont ask me what Edge is.. I am thinking it is like 3G... Unfortuanetly the device will not work on your 4G network. One user purchase his from ebay for $800 I beleive it is still showing and here is the link. Location is apparently in Texas, Houston.... Only thing is its only in Black.. I myself have the Grey_Titanium which I love!... But hey if you love black gadgets your in luck!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...5-Jelly-Bean-4-1-2GB-Ram-4G-LTE-/221134136119
Will they eventually release it in the US? Should I wait and get this model or just buy t-mobile one right now?

I dont beleive they will officially release this I9305 in the US because you have your own S3 variant of the 4G already.
edge is 2g
but there are some regions of tmo that actually supports the 1900mhz band.

yup, the i9300 is indeed compatible with AT&T's 3G (i'm using it right now as we speak). In some regions, T-Mo's 3g also works, but there's a link somewhere that shows you exactly where the 1900mhz band is in use.
@OP
if you're going to get the tmo (USA) version, you should check out the appropriate forum for it (no sure what the exact model number is, but you'll find it). Flashing anything from this forum would most probably brick your new phone (due to differences in some hardware and software).
here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1706
and the rooting guide is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900345 (it's the sticky in the Q&A forum)
