[Q] Custom statusbars - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where can one find different custom status bars? I have seen a few that I like, one that has a curve it. I for the life of me cant find anywhere to download them, so I can add them to my theme.

You make them that is how you get them

I havent seen any good status bars since most of them consume a LOT of RAM and storage space and dont bring much functionality so id recommend modifying SystemUI.apk to suite your personal experience.

Signal bar mod

Currently runming Criskelo ROM v30 and I was wondering if there was a custom signal bar app out there? I know there is already several signal bar mods available, but I'm looking for a 5 segment bar style in green. One that looks exactly like the one that cones stock on Criskelo. If anybody knows of one, or could make one, that would be great.
I just realized I put this thread in the wrong section. Mods, please move to themes section. Thanks!

Try the UOT Kitchen
Thanks. Going to check it out now.

I checked the Kitchen, but there is no support for Ciskelo ROM , or an option to create a signal meter.

For the UOT Kitchen, it doesn't matter what rom it says it supports. Upload the apk's and yes signal bar support exists in it. Rather clearly actually.
I didn't see anything for signal bars, but I'll check again.
ROM Kitchen features does not list amything about signal bars. Nor was I able to find it anywhere in the Kitchen toolkit. Every other feature is "rather clearly" available. :eyeroll:
Go to the kitchen, select icons, preview the icon sets until you find one with a signal bar that you like. Deselect all the other icons. Cook, download and flash.
Edit: Color pack v8 animated probably has what you are looking for.
When it comes to the kitchen you need to spend some time looking around. It has a lot of options that are sub-sections of other options. The best way to figure out what you can do is poke around.
Thanks button has been clicked.

Willing to Pay :)

Ok, I am done pulling my hair out so maybe I can pay someone else to do this for me lol.
I want a Transparent Status Bar exlcluding the Clock / Battery .. All I want is Notificatons on left hand side and Signal/Wifi on the right hand side.
I have been trying to change framework to make it work but however all I can manage to do is either make it completely dissapear or change the color. I thought that I could atleast hide the notifications by making the battery and clock display transparent but when I do that it off centers the wifi/signal bars and just doesn't look right.
I however have not been succesfull at making the Bar itself transparent.
So, to sum it up. I will pay for someone to do this for me or willing to accept any and all pointers on how to accomplish this myself.
Systemui controls expanded status bar and everything except the battery. In systemui goto res/layout/ you can set dip of items to say 0.9999999 to hide it. Also colors.xml in res/values/
Running ICScrewD ROM
So you want a transparent status bar with only notifications and wifi/signal without the clock on the right?
How much $$$?
u in the right forum bro?
@Thegodfather
Yeah, I would think this is the right forum as its a Theme request.
@Ssconceptz
Yes, transparent Notification Bar with just the notifications on the left and Wifi/Signal Icons on the right. No battery Icon or Clock.
@Alucardis
Depends on how greedy you are lol. I don't mind paying for someones work but I am not rich either lol.

Ill look into it but I heard the transparent bar doesnt work on the home screen of TouchWiz so this may be your issue. I am looking to remove the AM/PM as in ICS so I can probably test this too.

The OP's sig says skyrocket, I believe that is what he is referring to. If you figure out the AM/PM thing that'd be awesome! I've been trying but no dice at the moment, it seems the usual files that are changed have been moved...
@ Thegodfather
Sorry bout my signature. I did have the Skyrocket for a few days but took it back due to it being a major annoyance. The new APN's they use for the LTE Data plan is stupid and gave me more data issues then I care to touch on.
Will update as soon as I get out of this reply
@ Ssconceptz
I don't use TWiz currently do to this issue haha. I am using ADWEx because I can totaly hide the Status Bar but I don't care for doing that tbh. I played with Launcher 7 and its statusbar replacement but couldnt get it to work right after pulling things apart so trashed that project. I dug into some MIUI Framework but I can't even start to compare what they changed.
Is there a way to replace the StatusBar.apk from system with a customized version without it breaking somehting else.
Edit: Signature Changed

Shouldn't be hard i'll give it a whirl tonight if I have time and post results.
Maybe take a look at

Free version:

Just what a quick google search brought up
The problem with WP7 bar is it is just overlay and doesnt actually replace the stock status bar and it actually uses a bit of battery. This is the reason I want the stock status bar modified.

If I were you...I would flash MIUI, then d/l extended mod settings, flash it and you can swich the statusbar layout and it will be transparent....if your sold on having touchwiz i dont think it is going to happen for u. Everytime i tried i could never get it transparent. So im on miui....plenty of great themes too.
@Boobie Watcher
I don't like MIUI. I don't know what it is I end up doing but I always have terrible battery life and it just seems buggy.
I know.there has to.be a way to make it.transparent. just how lol.

Yea, I always seem to have to do a lot of tweaking to get MIUI to my liking as well, but once i do its dope. I'm sure there is a way I just haven't figured it out yet.....When you do make sure you hit me up !
There is this theme writer on the i-9100 side that has made some but every time i flashed to a hellraised criskelo rom it was a no go i got nothin but he might have some answers just a though.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
Yeah, I am comparing the i9100 statusbar.apk for the change to the i777 version we have. I am sure I will find it eventually but was hoping someone with some in-depth theming experience would know the answer lol.

[Q] I'm looking for specific roms/ can you help me out here

Ok yesterday I installed about 6 roms we have for the i717 that are somewhat new(4.1.2)
The roms i'm looking for i want them to show the H, H+, 3g like King Kang oct-17 rom. I also prefer the settings layout kinda small and everything on one page, I guess that's ICS's settings layout where it has the Rom settings, Paranoid settings. Right now I'm on the Super stock Oxeded rom(looks the same as stock to me) Although it has the 4g icon but you can't tell if you're on 3g as for me i've been seing 4g icon all day but when I was on King Kang rom it bounces from 3g, H, then stays on H+.....
Here are the roms i've X out as not for me:
1.King Kang. Love the signal icons, love the settings UI. BUT yesterday the lockscreen pin was so buggy, when I would press a button it would input the wrong numbers. So i couldn't get into my phone I had to just install a diff rom, This rom also makes my screen flash, at one point i couldnt make calls or recieve calls(I'm on straight talk, might been a APN issue)
2. Quincyatt oct24-12 rom. Doesn't show any signal icons. other than that it was ok.
3.collective rom. I just didn't like the theme of the rom. I'm not a fan of custom icons and all that other fancy mess of changing names of some settings you are looking for.
4. Black Star rom. doesn't show any signal icons. no paranoid settings. It's a cool black n white settings but everywhere you look you see "BlackStar" it's even in the notification bar.
5. GovCheez rom. Doesn't show the signal icons. I like the setup on this rom.
6.cookie and cream rom. no signal icons. has paranoid settings so that's good. not a fan of the bootup animation either.
To me it seems like you may want to learn how to theme a Rom and make a theme to your liking. That or learn how to make a Rom with the features that you want.
What kind of signal icon u trying to see?

I recommend using cyangen mod 9 or higher

Im currently on Black★STAR ix and i get 3g,H,H+,etc icons for signal. If you would take the time to read the OP and through the thread you would also realize that there are flashable themes for stock and so on. Plus now there is the OTA feature through the settings menu. Just take your time and read and don't forget "search" is our friend

My galaxy note is my best friend
Seems you need a new friend. Really all the post provided to you seem good to go, sounds like you want something cosmetic, there are threads for this type of mod you want to have and or displayed. Sure that is part of the want of a ROM, me I want stability and something that can handle the stress I put my device thru...how it looks well I will take those mentioned over looks any day just me, hope you find what you are looking for, thanks.

[Q] lock icon

Hey all
I can't seem to find the answer to this question. But what is this lock icon in the upper right corner on the notification bar mean
I have been looking all day for what this means. Any one know? Thanks in advance.
Screenshot?

It puts your phone in lockscreen. Lockscreen shortcut so you don't have to use hard keys I guess. I don't like it so I don't use it, however I did notice it on the excellent deviant themes.

I noticed this too after I flashed a deviant theme. I also didn't like it and couldn't figure out how to change any of the things in the notification area, ie clock, battery etc. Would like to know how to get rid of the lock symbol and change the look of the notification bar in the deviant theme. Love the theme but this is a killer for me, had to go back to previous theme.

Are those Wanam presets? Let me check...since if they are, you can just get rid of it with a few taps within Wanam...
Ah, those are the ones that came from the hockey mask themer dude.
Anyway, when I looked inside of those, most of what I saw were apk replacements, not image mods (unlike swapping out png files, those replace the existing apps in system).
Meaning that, if I'm right, they are all or nothing propositions, your apps, once swapped, gain the latter's characteristics, and lose the former's.
Unzip the mod, and if the framework or system ui are outright replacements and not folders filled with a bunch of image files, your choices are...
Keep the mod, and try to use Wanam to deep-six the padlock,
Keep the mod and live with same,
Try one of the other mods on the themes and apps forum that uses a png swap/vrtheme approach, and you'll have no padlock to remove

Thanks! Way over my head though! I played in the wanam settings and wasn't able to change anything about it. I am learning something new everyday, hope I can understand the resolve you described someday as I really liked the theme especially the dialer that is way cool. Thanks again!

I'm on KitKat, but I'm almost certain that in jellybean that there is an option under the notification settings for persistent lockscreen icon in status bar.

How does one tell if the theme uses the png swap/vrtherme approach as you talk about by looking at the theme as a flashable package?

[Q] LG G3 (Sprint) - Looking for Glass Status Bar Icons

I'm looking for an icon pack or rom that has glass-style status bar icons. I've searched high and low here at XDA and not found what I am looking for. I am using G3TB, so it would have to play nice with that. I thought there were icon packs that integrated with G3TB, but I haven't figured that out, yet.
Anyone have any ideas that might come close to what I am searching for? I've seen them in non-G3 roms - blue and silver with a glass look to them or very shiny-like.
Thanks in advance for any help...
Slow forum, I guess.
I think I have found what wanted. Purple Kush in the play store seems to have them, but they're embedded in a CM ROM.
I'd love to download one of those ROMs, but it seems they're universally flawed with either data, bluetooth, sms broken or whatnot.
I'm using cm12.1 on my g3 so far its working perfect BT WiFi data and service only thing I have not tested is NFC I used twrp non bumped I don't know but I think the bumped system of recovery may be the cause of some of the issues because cyanogen is working great and themes are also working great only problem was developers options I didn't know how to turn my root back on it took two minutes to figure out Goodluck on finding a theme... Themes are why I choose cyanogen... Built with tons of options......
