[Q] Can only find one operator, and wont respond on usb-cable - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I just got a s2, it a software problem so i flashed it with stock 2.3.4.
First i noticed that it can only find the operator Telenor (Swedish vodafone), but i use operator called Tele2 and/or Telia.
I've tired flashing both cm10 and stock 4.0.3, but no change. I've wiped all i could find, but still no change.
Later, i noticed that it did not respond on usb, it just start charging. I've searched and that seams to be quite a common problem, but non of the fixes i found has worked. (factory reset, *#7284# set to modem and back to pda m.m.)
I've tried with several cables.
this is really bugging me, because i don't have a Telenor sim, and don't want one.
I could use wifi tethering via my SE Xperia Arc, but it runs CM10 and tethering dose not work at this moment.
Hope someone can help me get my phone up and running as is should.
Thanks in advance!

Oh, forgot. It's an i9100 and when i check simlock (*#7465625#) it says everything is off.

If your system has a USB 3.0 port, then connect your phone to it.

Already have, didn't help :/

SII has USB 2.0, so connecting it to 3.0 won't solve the problem.

on laptops with old motherboards, connecting the phone to the USB 2.0 port will only charger it. I've seen this myself

"My files" is a file manager that only comes preinstalled on stock based Rom/firmware. It's not included and will never work with CM10.
Solution:
Download a file explorer from market. Solid Explorer, Es file explorer, Astro duke manager are good examples

Bad data on SGS2

Hey guys, I have problem with my 3G, it is very unstable, what should I do? It is not my carrier, my friends with other phones dont have that problem...
The best solution is post in Q & A section..
Unless you do not provide ROM/Kernel/Baseband version no one can help you.
Try flashing another baseband firmware and get the corresponding Radio Interface Layer version for your Kernel.

how to fix some issues of the cyanogenmod 10 nightly.

Hi
I flashed the CM10 nightly on my i9100g a couple of days ago. It's absolutely beautiful and awesome. But unfortunately I have a couple of problems with it.I was wondering if I should wait for the stable version to come or are there any patch works for it.
My issues are:
1. 2G network won't work. And I need it badly. Please tell Mr if there is anything I could do about it.
2. WiFi direct: there simply is no option for it. Nothing to toggle on or off. It's not deal breaker though but I would like to know if it's fixable.
Thank you in advance

1.
Goto Settings - wireless & Networks, Mobile Networks - turn off mobile data , wait for mobile data to turn off, then enable 2G network only
Note:I'm using CM10 based Rom for GT I9100 but i believe this solution should work for you

[Q] New menu mode

Is it real to enable a new menu mode on any Galaxy SII rom? (Like on HTC One X, where on-screen menu buttons are used, and if app is outdated, device shows a black bar with menu button.)?

You can enable it in any ROM.
For stock based Roms, you will have to modify some system files yourself which might not be that easy.
For Aosp based ROMs however, there is an opinion to enable it with one click and even customise the behavior of the soft buttons

Well, I sure know, how to enable it as a permanent one (hw.keys=0, or something like this in build.prop), but as i said, i want it to show only if an app doesn't have an action bar instead of menu

I've already answered your question. What you are looking for has nothing to do with build.prop
For stock ROMs,You will need to modify framework-res.apk and probably, SystemUI.apk too.
This is a ready made option in Aosp based ROMs

Well, I was unable to find any instruction about it. Is there any tutorial about it?

Do I really need a custom ROM

Looking at my phone today I started thinking That as I always stick Go Launcher on it ( I like my shortcuts in folders) and a few other GO apps. Am I really getting any benefits from a custom ROM.
Maybe a standard ROM with the GO stuff added would be just as good. Then I know they will always work.
Problem is I can't stand all the 'Samsung' crap that comes with them. Kies and their 'shops'
Maybe a cut down 'standard' ROM will work.

You can always remove those apps you don't need on an UNmodified firmware. You only need root access
