hard keys on honeycom? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

hey there tryed to ask into the thread but noone answered...
there's someone that found how to re able the hardware keys on evo view 4g using honeycomb?
I'd really apprecciate to have them back(as other users)
tryed to modify the .kl file but nothing happened :°(
please help!!

If your rooted there is a flash file that can turn them off. I havnt seen itin a while you have to search the forum. Then download honey hide to hide the on screen status bar. Or try downloading cypher ROM. It has both to play with

The only way I know that you can get the keys to work on HC is with JMZtaylor's kernel but it's not completely stable. The occasional bootloop happens.

Soft keys light KaosFroyo

Alright I have the latest Group build, but with it, the software keys (home, menu, back, search) don't light up. I saw there was a fix for it, but how do I apply it?
Thanks!

The fix doesn't really work in my experience. The softkeys light up at weird intervals post fix and never when its actually useful. But if you want to try it download the zip file from the FAQ page and put it in the root of your SD card. Then boot to recovery and flash it. I ended up flashing the fix for the fix though cause it got annoying.
Good luck.

if you just wait your better off, once kaos actually fixes it it will be fine the soft_key_fix.zip is kind of a temporary fluke fix it just makes them light up in general not when they should.
For me it works only in my room don't know why but works only there maybe its because the sensor

Dimming soft keys?

Does anyone know if there's a way to dim or turn off the backlit soft keys (back, home, and apps)?
Sometimes I feel like the backlight is too bright when watching a video.

I tried that app but sadly I don't have my device rooted yet. I'll try it again when I do.
If there is another method I'd like to give that a shot as well.

Look for freeza's post. He did this quite a while ago.
i have a method but u will need root to do it.download this zip. using a root file manager of choice, go to the download and extract it. now go to the extracted folder open it and copy the 50dimleds. now navigate to system\etc\init.d and paste. be sure to give correct r/w permission. reboot and watch your new dimmed soft keys.
hit my thanks if i helped.
Thanks I'll give it a shot.

I'm not sure why they stop working with that ROM, but here's a post with a manual way to adjust the brightness.

So I gave it a try and it worked but it didn't. The lights turn on but now they wont turn off even when screen locks unless I reboot and then I have to edit again. So Ill keep searching. Thanks though man its better than it was...

[HOW TO] Enable soft keys on Droid DNA CM10.1

THIS INCLUDES MODIFYING BUILD.PROP AND SYNAPTICS-RMI-TOUCHSCREEN.KL SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKUPS!!
I thought i might share this to everyone since i tested it and it works nicely for me so far
1) Go to your build.prop using root explorer or any app that allows access to system files
2) Go to the bottom of the file, and enter the following without the quotes "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP IN CASE SOMETHING DOESNT WORK OUT)
3) Find "Synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl" located at (system>usr>keylayout) that controls the capacitive keys. Delete everything by editing it with a text editor
4) Reboot and you should have softkeys with the capacitive ones disabled
*I used this app http://goo.gl/JUWqs to disable the capacitive lights*
**If you wish to kepp the capacitive keys enabled skip step 3**
**to Reverse this just replace the build.prop with your backup and replace your Synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl with your backup**
Enjoy
This would be great in conjunction with enabling some gestures in the capacitive area a la WebOS

I sure do hate sense, but this feature if ever somehow made available for a sense rom it would make it a little better, because im not ever really expecting to get e fully functional AOSP based rom anytime soon.

I doubt the camera will ever be fully functional, which is a no go for me, I can live without Bluetooth, but I need the camera for work.
Any idea why the menu button won't do nothing it just vibrates

Chad has said the exact opposite in the development thread.
Edit: Sorry, he said it in the Cm 10.1 Rom thread.

Okay, so on any jelly bean device with soft keys, pushing up from the home soft key brings up a little ring with google now on it. Is there any way to enable this functionality with the hardware keys? It's kind of weird having both hardware and soft keys but I really like this functionality.
Any way to shrink the height of the nav bar? It's a bit too tall for my liking.
Been trying to get this to work on pacman... Should it be any different?
Edit... Got it working. But I can't get the backlights to turn off with the app linked in op.

That's odd. I was able to disable the lights. I have my PAC-Rom on Phablet mode. The app allowed me to shut them off and I was wondering, now that we got soft keys, I kinda want to cover the capacitive light with like, tape or something so I don't have to constantly look at them. haha, did any of you guys do anything to cover them or were just like whatever about it?

The host for that website is trying to charge extra every time we try to update it, which they didn't before so it's pretty much abandoned till we find a new one. Our home for now is mikmik and here....
I need some help ! I follow this How To and can add the softkeys (thanks a lot) but I cannot find Synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl on my device. I use LG G Pro (E980) any help please ?

How to prevent keyboard going back to stock at reboot?

I bought and downloaded Swype. Ive been a Swype user for years and love it. Got it installed and set up. However, whenever the phone reboots it goes back to stock. And for the life of me I cant find the option to switch it to Swype and have to run the setup again.
Anyone else have this issue or offer any advice?
I'm having the same issue. It's very annoying having to set up Swype again after a reboot.

was having the issue..found this thread, no help. googled and found on androidcentral an answer that has worked for me even after reboot. when going to type something and the keyboard pops up, a keyboard icon will show in the notification bar. pull that down and select the keyboard input method and change it. should be golden after that!

Reboot the phone and it will go back to stock keyboard. It's a bug. Have it on the s3 and htc one and it does it on both.

I had this issue running rooted stock rom. I made Swype a system app with titanium backup and it worked as expected after. Recently upgraded to a 4.2.2 ROM and making it a system app doesn't appear to work anymore no matter how many times i clear cache and app cache so i set Tasker to set the input method at boot and no problems... Hope it helps.
Using Titanium Backup to freeze the system keyboards fixed the same problem on my S3.
If you're rooted just freeze the HTC IME in Titanium.
