Stylus Tip - Nokia Lumia 920

Anyone who wants to use a stylus with the 920 (for whatever reason) should check out the Samsung C Pen. It's a conductive rubber stylus but the tip is much smaller and less spongy than normal because it's made for Galaxy S3 which has a more sensitive than normal screen... so naturally it works very well with Nokia's even more sensitive screen. The demo phone at AT&T store that I tried it on didn't have any drawing apps so I couldn't really test the accuracy but just using the UI it worked flawlessly.

Help with Falling Stylus

I have been having this problem of stylus keep falling off from the silo.
Does anyone know how to fix it??
Thanks.
I don't know the solution (never needed it) but i remember seeing posts with tips when i registered last year. You must make a more extensive search
I put a piece of scotch tape around mine and I've had no problems since I did that. One wrap around was enough to keep it snug - right in the middle of the stylus.
here you go, maby it will help someone:

I've been having this problem, and just tried this solution. Give me a day and I'll tell you how it works out
Edit:
Well, it's been a day, and the stylus is being held in there better than ever. Definitely a recommended fix if you are having this problem
yeah, i find that the scotch tape trick works perfect. i put it right around the "neck" of the stylus - that would be nearest to the gray head part.
Falling Stylus
I've read on a website, don't have any link anymore, that if you will turn your mobile on the back, and remove your battery, there will be 2 openings where you can see some steel. If you take some sort of pen, or mini-screwdriver you can push against it, and when it clicks, your stylus must be a little tighter in his case. Didn't test it, because i lost my stylus because of the same problem

Solution to stylus falling out
I bought some sticky tack (you can get it at office supply stores) and placed a small amount in the channel. That seems to hold my stylus in with no problems.
Tape option is the best. I lost two stylus due to falling stylus and this time I put a small amount of tape on the outer edge and its perfectly fit in the phone. No more falling stylus.
I opened the phone, added a drop of hot-glue behind the little plastic pin and it holds the stylis like it was new.
The same trick I also applied to my universal, only there I added a bit to much, and the stylus now doesn't come out easily, so I need to use a little more force.

Ebay touch pro 2 FULL HOUSING - warning!!!

Just to let you know ppl - watch out for touch pro 2 full housings sold by several sellers on ebay. They all look very much the same, same photos everywhere, there are red and blue ones. Got me the red one, wasted over 50 quid and nearly wrecked my phone trying to fit it. THEY DON'T FIT REGULAR, UNBRANDED TOUCH PRO 2 despite the description.
- You literally need to cut large pieces of plastic off to fit the mainboard in
- you lose GPS (there is no antenna in the housing)
- it is difficult to get the Bluetooth working (I had to bend the metal connections on the mainboard),
- fitting the keyboard surround causes that phone doesn't recognize that keyboard is out anymore (no backlight, no landscape)
- hinges are horrible quailty, they never close fully, make weird noises
- the keyboard doesn't fit the rest of the set (cut-outs for caps and fn lights are in wrong places)
In short - the only fully usable thing is the back cover (nice one, i like it) and the bezel (nice looking but slightly different shape than original, some cases won't fit anymore).
Just lost two days of my life. I hope you won't.
Here's the very one I bought:

Thanks for letting us know
Sadly all these "cases" for the phone tends to be tough to put on. I had to put on a FULL body shield on the phone before I tried these casings.
It hurts me when I have to do it VERY HARD to snap it on. The end results are decent, but the shield pushes the case a bit out because the phone becomes a bit thicker.

Accessories for N2E

Placeholder post!!
Well, there is not much on accessories side for Nook STR. Cover, screen protector, external light and SD cards.
I'll stick with my cheapo cover from amazon.

Link to cheapo cover on Amazon, please?
Jrec,
The cover is the Casecrown one. Was cheaper a couple of weeks ago. It fits snuggly, blocks only SD cover, and it makes a little harder to hit the button savior arrow on the right side. Besides that, a winner.
Casecrown cover
Thanks! I trust that in time we'll see lots more after market stuff for the N2E.

A Great Light For N2E...
I just bought the Kandle Ozeri II light for my N2E it works great. Amazon has it for $25.00 (not able to post links yet). It runs on the button batteries two for 20 hours. At first I was against this but you can by 25 for $5 on Amazon. It also has two settings for brightness however the lowest setting works great for me with no dark spots on the screen. Some of the reviews stated it looked cheap and some of the clips have broken on them. Mine seems good so far but I'm careful putting it on and taking it off.
Mine even goes on with the nook cover (Lautner Case) I just got at Barnes. When I slide the light on I still put the clip in between the cover and the back of the device. But I think it would fit over the case also.
Also one more thing it does block the power button when you clip it on top of the N2E but I turn my device on before I stick the light on.
Hi,
Has anyone insights about stylus ? (cf. "Simple-Touch-Reader-Generation-Accessories" on Amazon)
Thx !
Have a Verso Arc Rechargeable reading light, and it fits perfectly on my nook.
USB keyboard
Would love to buy a working USB keyboard/dock, once it exists.

There will not be a stylus for the Nook STR that will offer any sort of precision because of the IR touchscreen. IR touchscreens aren't extremely accurate and require a large contact area on the screen to reliably pick up the touch. It's not capacitive, so a capacitive stylus won't do you any good, and neither will a typical stylus for a DS or palm or other device sporting a resistive touchscreen (resistive touchscreens can essentially be poked with anything and that anything can be used as a stylus)
Simply put, it's because of the IR touchscreen needing such a big contact area that you're not going to see any effective stylus, ever.
However, a finger and a whiteboard widget does result in an effective notepad.

I picked up an iFrogz stylus from Staples for my phone it works great on the Touch too. It's got a soft tip so it's not going to mess with the screen and it's accurate enough to work or write with.
I use the rubber on the end of a pencil to hit chromium browser tabs while in vncviewer... seeing as it's not a capacitive screen
rather good...

S Pen Problems?

My screen registers a touch from my S Pen when it is about a half inch away from the screen. This makes it difficult to take a note or to even just use the pen. From my understanding it is because the white tip is stuck in a little bit. I tried to contact Samsung and the only thing they told me to do was a factory reset or take it to an AT&T store. The problem is I go to school in Iowa and the closest AT&T store is 60 miles away. Any suggestions on fixing the S Pen?
You are correct in thinking the stylus tip is pushed in too far to create an "always on" effect. It is possible the stylus is simply defective, but there's one way to find out.
A lot of styluses come with a tool for removing and/or replacing the tip, as a stylus tip generally wears out after several years.
WHAT TO DO: Take a pair of tweezers and gently clamp down on the nub where it meets the stylus pen, then try to pull it out a little. DO NOT GRAB OR CLAMP THE NUB FROM THE TIP OR OTHERWISE SQUEEZE THE VERY TIP or you could misshape the tip and then it could scratch your screen over time. All you need to do is pull the nub out a little without accidentally compromising the tip that meets the screen.
After you pull the tip out a little (or all the way), push in gently but firm with your fingers to re-seat the nub.
Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aertF9yb6n0
You can also try the aluminum tape method to resolve the screen interference issue, it's worked with my 2 s-pens that had the same symptom.
I dropped my S Pen in the toilet......
Had this problem after washing it until it dried. I do seem to still have the same problem occasionally though.

The tip doesn't move much, it's almost impossible to see unless you're looking at it pressing into a flat surface from the side. It might move .5 to 1mm at most.
Anyway, lots of threads on this already...

Gumdrop Hideaway with Stand - Ruggedized Case - Review

I read a lot of reviews about this case , but not a single review that pointed out a serious problem with this case.
after being so disappointed with it, I also reviews it on amazon .
This was a waste of money !!!
I bought this case cover so I'll have some peace of mind, not fearing that my tablet would fall and break .
I put it over the tablet and it looked great , it felt like it would defiantly keep my note pro 12.2 safe .
BUT, I started noticing that the screen became less responsive to the touch , AND also the pen started to put out some deformed lines.
Around the middle of the screen, strait lines that i drew with the pen became curved , i tried to draw a box and could not get the line strait until i moved the canvas to the side of the screen.
After reading what other reviewers said , I guessed this was something to do with the plastic screen protector part of the case.
So i removed the plastic cover, the screen became more responsive to the touch as before, BUT!!! it changed nothing for the stylus accuracy.
I started putting lines all over my screen and i found out a 1\4inch dead-spot around the home button , the pen could not draw in that area , it just carved around it. This curvature was going through to some extent all the way to the middle of the screen , and was the reason for the strait lines becoming curved .
I thought that maybe it was something with the home button.
IT was Not!
The problem was the strong magnet at the back of the case, the same magnet that holds the hide-away stand in place.
as soon as i completely removed the cover , things went back to normal , and i could draw strait lines once again.
I don't know if having a constant magnetic field could permanently harm my wacom digitizer in the screen.
But since i bought the tablet for art making , it was useless if it don't have good pen accuracy.
If you Buy this Cover for the note, and plan to use it with the s-pen, then forget about it !
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHICH THIS CASE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM????
No, you're not. Most cases have this problem. In fact I was quite surprised to find that the Samsonite flipcover I bought recently didn't interfere with the Wacom sensors.
The magnetic field doesn't harm the Wacom digitizer. The problem is just that the Wacom digitizer also uses magnetics, and two magnets don't exactly work very well together.
There is no material that can block magnetic fields, so you can't solve it with a simple strip of fabric. (Although a strip of velvet or leather tends to help somewhat) You can try to cut out the magnet.
Something to know: There are two versions of magnetic systems in covers:
> The cheap, generic solution. Which is a single, relatively strong, magnet This causes problems with Wacom digitizers. It also causes problems with the tablets shutting off on their own for no reason.
> The more high-end brands use a different system, of a long magnetic strip or line. The overall magnetic strength is identical, but it is spread out enough so as to not interfere with the digitizers and sensors. My Samsonite apparently has this. (I emailed them.)

Actually, I asked an Amazon Q&A question about it and everyone who answered were too dumb to notice the magnet affecting the pen input. After I provided instructions to prove the problem exists, the price dropped from about $60 to $30. Man I don't get people. I am 100% sure everyone's Gumdrop has this issue, yet people are oblivious about it. Either they don't use the pen or they don't bother actually checking for the problem.
The question I asked:

After returning the Gumdrop, I bought an Otterbox and I am satisfied.

The last answer you received is:
"Not sure what issues your referenceing but we have been using this case for 3 months now with no issues at all, not even with the stylist."
Ronica Gomez
Me to never has a stylist for my tablet.
very strange what ppl where saying .
I guess most of them use the stylus as a finger replacement rather then a drawing tool.
