can i flash custom ROM using flashtool? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

can i flash custom ROM using flashtool??
i donno how to install the CMW..read all the post about the CMW..but still can't install it..
so cn i flash custon ROM using flash tool??

no.

Custom rom is .zip file. And Flashtool only support FTF file. So u cant use Flashtool to do it.
If u want install CWM. U must choose 1 way into 2 ways:
1/ Root phone and install x-parts from Google Play ( so u cant install CWM inside X-parts)
2/OR Unlockbootloader and flash custom Kernel (Which has CWM inside, ex:rage kernel) And use cwm.

Well...first - Did you unlocked your Bootloader?
If you did, did you follow the steps of instalation that are on the OP of Oddie's MIUI?
Special Note : Hotfix V001 is not needed now / Flash Only V2 - Those who have V1 , Just flash V2 over it
1. Download Rom - Download
*Download Hotfix V1 - Download
*Download Hotfix V2 - Download
2. Copy Them to your SD card .
3. Download Luke's Kernel - Download
4. Flash luke's kernel - Go to Recovery / Wipe Data / Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. Flash the rom with Luke's kernel ( with cwm recovery ) / Flash Hotfix V 2 ( V 1 Not needed - already included in the V 2 )
6. Boot in to the rom , see if camera is working & etc ( wifi will give error )
7. Download Doom's Boot manager for miui & wifi fix - Click here for original post
8. Flash Doom's Boot manager Then Flash wifi fix & boot in to the rom .
9 . Enjoy the rom - refer to the 2nd post for other stuff before reporting issues.

As you can see, you must install Luke's kernel. As Oddie's don't install on Xrecovery, but it do on CWM Recovery.

Recovery ftf doesn't exist for locked bootloader, if your bootloader is unlocked, flash doom's boot manager, if not, did you check if when you're on 2.3.3 if you're using the GB xrecovery and not the regular 2.1 xrecovery?

use the download from here, the official superuser.
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
you will have to add busybox to the zip from this zip or just add it manually

How to do this ?
Which kernel is this, the one which is supposed to be flashed via flashtool(kernel.sin)?
There is absolutely no need to flash the kernel and then flash original kernel back if you have unlocked bootloader. You can just boot the kernel (fastboot boot <kernel image>) then enter CWM and flash the zip. When you reboot the phone it will start on the original kernel.
trying now in 4.0.4
not working for me, i think i need to downgrade.

Simple Steps to Root Without PC and Without loss of Stock Kernel
Removed.. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Haresh Gulvani said:
Hello,
Simple way to root and unroot stock kernel without flashing insecure kernel.
Don't worry about custom counter and yellow triangle, with this method they never appear, because we only rooting, it's a rooting script not a custom kernel.
This rooting script included Busybox installer.
Rooting :
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip
- SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted
Unroot :
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip
- SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard
Choose and Install SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Unrooted
Tested on latest stock Galaxy S II ICS rom.
Tested on latest Galaxy Note by some user (thanks for report)
Note: This method should work for other device with ICS rom, check CWM that compatible for your device.
You can download all the zip files from this thread. ROOT/UNROOT ZIP Files
Thanks,

Ah, so you're the one who doesn't care about the xda-rules and allow this kind of questions here by answering them (although this is way more than what OP asked).

I installed Rom Manager (followed lots of threads in XDA Forum), But when I reboot into recovery from Rom Manager. My phone just gets restarted. I wanted to install custom rom. Please guide me in detail.
Rom Manager says - device not supported.
If it says it's not supported It is probably not.
Search the Xperia Sola Android Development forum for CWM recovery for your phone.
I assume locked bootloader. so look for one for locked bootloader not custom kernel.

So you can flash custom rom if you like.
It just don't support your device.
Man, what is that ROM manager? What about the CWM flashing method?
As he says, there's a lot of ROMs you can use in that forum, is all up to you.
Sent from my Xperia Sola using xda premium
Why you use ROM manager? .-.
If you have unlicked your boot loader simply flash a custom kernel (which has recovery), boot into recovery, wipe and flash.
It's that simple.

Ans 1: Yes you can download flashtool from there
Ans 2 : After downloading flashtool . open flashtool connect your phone with usb debugging enabled and click on the root button on the flashtool and proceed as it says . After rooting just simply click on the flash button and choose the ftf rom file . do what it says and it'll flash your rom ..
Ans 3 : If you are flashing via ftf bundle . you dont need to follow these instructions .
