[Q] Kyocera Rise - Stuck At Boot Logo and "cannot load volume /misc" - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, everyone.
I have Kyocera Rise VM. I was browsing online on my phone then suddenly I get error messages on my phone saying "could not load googleplay", "could not load this and that programs..." so I removed the battery and restarted the phone (just restarting my phone this way several times in the past fixed the problem). When I turned it back on, it is now stuck at the boot logo (RiSE by KYOCERA). Factory Reset in the recovery mode didn't fix the problem. One thing I noticed while I was in the recovery mode screen was that there was an error message on the bottom which says:
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
E:failed to mount /sysprop (Invalid argument)
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
then I hit the factory reset button,
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Data wipe complete.
E; Cannot load volume /misc!
My phone is rooted with stock ROM (couldn't find a custom ROM to flash so I left it as stock) and stock recovery mode. The main reason I rooted my phone was to delete the camera shutter sound and the boot sound files.
Thank you for reading my post!

anyone?1?

In a while randomly ;( looks as if there's no solution yet guys...but I did read something
Someone posted today that he might of gotten through to Kyocera and they might
Actually provide a method to unlock the bootloader for the Hydro since that phone
Is really similar to the rise....who knows we might get somewhere! Sure hope so cause
I just got this phone ;( anyways any help would be appreciated guys.

unrooted mine fine
when i did factory reset i received this also
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Data wipe complete.
E; Cannot load volume /misc
but everything went back just fine. Stock unrooted VM rise.
UPDATE thought i was not rooted but after reinstalling su and i found out i'm still rooted thought factory reset would unroot but guess not. I have to figure out another way to unroot???

Root Error with Rise
I got the same error when rooting the Rise. It seems to me that previous rooting methods do not seems to work right with v4.0.4. When the root is not completed properly you are stuck in the bootloop and get this error...
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
E:failed to mount /sysprop (Invalid argument)
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
I was able to resolve this by wiping cache then doing the factory reset. I hope this helps!

Same Problem
Same problem from mine too. Replacement is Kyocera Rise for now. Still have Event. Trying to restore functionality.

I've been having this problem too. Stock recovery doesn't fix the problem. I even tried using ADB from my mac to talk to it, but it doesn't seem to talk to the computer at all.
Has anyone figured out how to fix this? If so, why haven't they said anything yet? :/

When u root, b VERY careful. Never EVER mess with any sound files. ONLY app I found that fixes the sound quality is SRS manager in the play store. Only reason it works is because it ADDS files to /system/lib/srs. Deleting ANYTHING in the /system folder will cause problems. Altering anything in the root partition can cause problems. Best advice is if ur gonna use apps on ur devices, do some research FIRST and make sure nobody's lookin for help to fix something that ur lookin to do. As for the boot loader, check changes.com there's a petition going right now for that. And as for a fix, all I can say is good luck because cwm would b an easier solution. VM is loosing money right now because of issues like this one. Once they take the chastity belt off our phones and let us pop their cherries, then I'd suggest rooting. Until then I suggest only CPU tuning apps and leave the root partition ALONE.

[Q] Sony Tablet S Stuck on boot screen

Hi everyone, i have a problem with my Sony Tablet S, suddenly it's freezing and when i try to turned it back on it stuck on booting screen (with sony logo ).
then i checked to the internet and i found that i have to hard reset it, by holding down the + volume button and power button in order to get to the Android System Recovery. But then again no clue, i have tried reset to factory setting and keep stuck on boot screen. its frustating.
Prompt on my screen :
E: Fail to read boot logo flag
E: Cant Open / Dev/block/mmcblk0p5
(No Such file or directory)
E: Failed to Mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: Cant mpunt/ cache/recovery/command
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
On the Android System Recovery there is Update System from SD Card, is there any possible ways that i can put Honeycomb virtual image on to the SD Card then make it as a bootable device, so i can boot from my SD Card.
Please help! thanks a lot !
If it was previously on Honeycomb, and you could find someone with a rooted Tablet running ICS from the same region and same version (WiFi vs 3G etc) then you might be able to recover it.
You would need to get them to install the rescue-bcakdoor on their device, allowing them to download the OTA update file. You could then try and ABD push that file onto your device's storage and install from the Recovery menu.
Just a thought! Otherwise, you could try sending it back under Warranty or something..
Disclaimer: This is by no means a tested solution and you may want to check on a few things before trying this. I take no responsibility for anything that happens as a result of this procedure. As always, I recommend trying Sony's Warranty and Repairs department for an official, warranty-valid repair.

I got the same problem yesterday(29. May), it might be google did something via OTA. I'm using China version, changed region to US and upgraded it to ICS, but unfortunatlly, can't root in ICS now. Yesterday, it suddenly stuck and can't reboot any more. always stuck on Starting Screen. I called Sony Customer Center, and follow their struture to reset the tablet, but not help. I'm not too sure about easy fixes (I'd have to work through it a lot more, which is tricky without the error), but I know that it can't be Google. Google neither could nor would release an OTA package that aggressively downloaded to the device, installed and then broke something at system boot-level. Doesn't really work like that.

If you have this problem and you don't have a rooted tablet, you won't be able to downgrade. you must send it back for repair, since it can't reboot normally, sony won't detect any self bricking tracks, so warranty is still in the game, had the same problem to with Region Changer somewhere in V2.1 or something.
Goodluck.!
I have the same problem too, and I can't send it to sony service because it's not on sale in my country. I look forward to deal with it through sd card. Can't use USB connection. (not rooted too).
I have a similar issue, but mine seems to be stuck on the bootscreen animation (with the swirly yellow lines traveling from one side to the other). Haven't tried the power + volume up yet, will try that to see if I can hard reset. I was rooted on HC, but decided to take the ICS update so I believe that I'm unrooted at this point--still unsure though.

Have tried all of the tips in this post...Still stucked with the Sony logo..
I bought my in Krakow, Poland, but lives in Norway... it has the /P on the back instead of the /N.
Do you know if the guarantee is worldwide? If I can drop this to a Sony shop in Norway?
I dont have the receipt anymore, because I claimed a refound from the company I work in...
Thanks

What color is on the tabblet?
Is it green or red?
I think if its green, there is no fix.
If its red, use the battery completely then recharge it until green light.
Try after that. Mine was fixed whit same problem.
Well, I've tried everything that I've found on the forums/internet to no avail. Just contacted Sony support and am having them send me a box to ship it back for repairs (luckily I only bought it last December). The operator on the phone says that it's most likely a hardware issue if it doesn't get pass the "Sony" logo. This leaves me a bad taste with Sony, won't be buying a tab or phone from them again.
I have had the same issue, so will be going back to Sony soon for a repair. Disappointed as I've only had it 6 weeks, but as long as the repair service is good I'll be ok.
Same problem here tonight. Unreal. Purchased last August. Won't buy another Sony again. First it was the constant soft resets in order to power on. Now this.
I got the same problem on my sony tablet s device too model SGPT111US/S anykne fixed this erorr yet?
Now i can't do any things because it stoped at logo SONY, please help, any flasher or rom support this device from pc ?
Just got off the phone with tech support. Couldn't even get it to do a factory reset. Stuck on system restore screen. Sending it in for repair. Very disappointing. Paid $500 for this thing. Didn't last a year. A few more weeks and I would have been out of luck on the warranty.

Verifying Update package... installing update every reboot after updating to Marshmal

So, I updated to Marshmallow. Now every time I restart the phone it acts as if I am trying to install an update. It shows "Verifying Update Package" then "Installing Updates" until it reaches 5% and sits for 10 minutes until the OS boots and works normally. This is very annoying and the phone is for my Mom. I really do not want her to have to deal with this issue.
How do I fix this?
Nevermind, I fixed it. I'm not a hacker or anything like that, so sometimes simple issues can complicate things. The issue was that the zip file that was in my download folder was triggering the update prompt when rebooting the phone. I did not think the phone would look in that folder on restart and try to apply the update. I hope this helps anybody else who is not super tech savvy and runs into this issue too.
something is wrong then... because that should only be triggered when booting using both volume plus power....
my first instinct? the buttons aren't moving smoothly... mash them a few times to loosen them up again.

as mentioned just before my post, if you have the update.app file on your SDcard, it'll interfere. Rename the DLOAD folder and try again

My 27 System Update broke my phone

Can I ask something? My27 system update have been released between ABS-CBN and MyPhone company (In 11/10/2016 if I'm mistaken) and it also have a root with KingRoot but didn't have TWRP or Custom Recovery. I happen to have been caught and stuck in No Command Boot after getting an error while installing the system update and I just tried Wipe Data/Cache but it didn't work. Out of ideas.. My status is that when I tried charging my when it is off, it automatically turns on and goes to No Command Status. :crying: :crying:
Hope you can help me because I don't want to trouble my parents fixing it.
Thank you.
Uh... sorry mods/admins I found the way of fixing my phone but still has its problems.

Ulefone Vienna No command bootloop after failed update

Hi, i have little (or maybe big) problem with my Vienna. Yesterday phone asked for Wireless Update and i allowed it. So Update started to install, almost finished it. But at the end it just gave error and rebooted and then there is just Ulefone logo after what it gives No command error and just continues to bootloop. I tried to wipe cache through recovery and even factory reset. It just wipes my data and thats it. No factory reset. I cant restore backup either. It just says no SD card. I'm kinda new Android user, so i dont know what to do next. Kinda frustrated about that update. It basically bricked my phone. Anyways phone is running stock 5.1 version. Thanks who can help me with this :fingers-crossed:

This had happened to me too. Try to update it again trough sd card by getting into recovery mode (youll find vids how to get into recovery mode). The 6.0 version isnt very good (it can hanlde more apps though, I have ~500 apps). BUT, MOST IMPORTANTLY; after the upgrade factory restet the phone (more than once would, I think, better). I didnt do that and I think I should, since that may enable me now to get again in recovery mode (yeah, now buttons dont work, Ive to do this via PC), my phone maybe would be more compatible with PCs and I may was able to root it. By the way, there is another xda forum about ulefone vienna where you could get more answers and Im not a professional. I hope I helped (with some months delay).

OTA Update fail?? need help

So my brother asked for some help to update his device....
Keep IN Mind his
Software Version is
3.41.651.41
HTC Sense 7.0
Security Patch Nov 1st 2016
as we both checked it had been a long time since he has updated since 7.0.1 and we received a notification about Nougat.
As we 1st downloaded the OTA zip.. we had 52% battery and tried to install it followed by the on screen instructions but to no avail.... a Red Triangle and Exclamation in the Middle Appeared right after the
25% mark... but to note the 24% mark just blinks once. before it hits 25% a few seconds later, before that error is displayed.
After wards we restart it or it restarts itself back to the Original Firmware we were just on a few minutes ago , all untouched.
Tried a 2nd time, cleared the Cache and that didn't work either same response..
as for the the 3rd time i cleared the Cache, and then Restarted to go into the Recovery Mode but I can't event access that at all just another Red Triangle is displayed , unable to perform any actions with the Vol Buttons or Power Buttons...
any suggestions??
htc one m9 s-on bootlodaer locked untouched , not rooted, tried ota update but it failed, can't access recovery menu .

Make sure you have ADB installed and USB debugging turned on. Now get the RUU
Which you can get from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...nt/ruu-sprint-htc-one-m9-1-32-651-17-t3073355 and put it in either the SD card or the internal storage then connect the phone to your PC and open the command prompt where adb is installed and type "adb reboot bootloader" and it should reboot it and give you the prompt to install
Help with Nougat update
I'm having the exact same problem. Have tried wiping the cache partition and factory resets among other things but nothing works. It gets stuck at 25% and goes back to 6.0. I don't have easy access to a computer and am hoping to get it OTA. It's a Sprint HTC One M9. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I tried the executable one listed under 'Latest RUU' and in the process it threw an error and along the lines that it was incorrect and rolled back the installation. It's the same version as the original posters, so I'm not sure why it went wrong.
I'm planning to download 4.27 under '0PJAIMG RUUs', but not sure if I'll have the same issue. Will there be?
More specific details
Just about given up on this one but am trying again. Not fully versed in all the language but hope this makes sense.
Have tried cache partition wipes, factory resets, and OTA on bootloader with no success.
Recently moved and can't easily get my hands on a PC. Htc Sync Manager works with Mac but can't install the RUU.
When using bootloader two different error messages showed up. Will try and type the relevant info and see if anyone can make sense of it and possibly help me solve this VERY frustrating situation.

I'm getting similar issues. I tried downloading the executable from the link above and the htc site, both are giving signature errors. I tried updating via adb and i got the same error you have. Not sure if I want to proceed any further with this, if this is causing so much issue installing.
