Assuming the battery is drained at a rate of 1% every 5 minutes, you are going down 12% per hour, which equates to 8.3 hours of battery life. What's the problem again?

Is this happening when sitting idle and the screen is off? That would be a problem. However, as the above post was kind enough to do the math, 8+ hours of use/screen-on time is good.

Still on the low side IMO. The only time I have seen it drain that fast is with 50% or more screen brightness while playing Need For Speed at 1.7GHz and an overclocked GPU.

I can kill the battery in around 3 hours running a game at full brightness

Lol I'm happy when I get 6 hours+ screen time on below 50% brightness and normal usage (browsing, watching movies, very light gaming occasionally).

Were you guys getting better battery life after a few cycles? My battery life so far is not amazing around 5% drop a minute just browsing on wikipedia researching, so its not even heavy browsing

My battery life has improved quite a bit by flashing the KTmana kernel and underclocking the CPU.

I usually get about 2 days of usage with 7+ hours of screen time on mine before I worry about plugging it in. I have my brightness at the lowest setting the entire time, which I'm sure helps, but there just doesn't seem to be a need for me to have it any brighter.

Really bad move in my opinion, unless they fixed the memory performance problems

They haven't fixed them that much, besides unlocking and installing a new kernal.

I sold that exact tablet for this and haven't looked back for a second. Incredibly slow system and the only way to bandaid it is by unlocking your boot loader which voids your warranty.
The only thing that tablet has over this in my opinion is it charges 10x quicker, and the tablet UI is a lot nicer.
However its your money. You should be the only one who cares. If your happy with that tablet over an N10 then good! The N10 is far from perfect.

How low wil the prime go?

How low can it go? Ive ben trying to drain the battery all day and its finallydown to 3% at the time of this post. Is this thing going to go right to zero or what. So far i got 32 hours in balanced mode. I used it for mainlyforum browsing and a game or 2. But i just leave it on overnight so that accounts for about 10 hours.

Just wanted to see what others are getting for battery life.
Name the rom you are on, your typical use, and tips for others to squeek out your awesome battery life.

Guess you using the app to take your screen brightness down to 1 on top of that?

Battery life so far - moderate usage

My battery life so far. WiFi on while at apartment since I have spotty connection. Used GPS for about 20 min and listened to Pandora for 1.75hrs. Brightness auto at 40%. Using fast dormancy .apk enabled.
I feel like this is pretty good batt life for moderate usage. Maybe this will give some sort of base to someone who feels they have a bad battery.
Ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Screen on time is there on one of the better battery stats pictures (last one and towards the end of the picture). It is at 2 hours 4 minutes at that percentage point.

That's normal, 6.5hrs of screen on time with wifi on and the phone being on for about 7.5hrs is good. If you are getting 3-5hrs throughout a day, I myself, consider that fine.

Basically, as soon as I pulled it out of the box, I drain the battery until it turns itself off, then recharge from there. I do this cycle for at least a full week...drain to empty, charge to full.....I actually did it for about 10 days with this device. Essentially, I treat it like an old ni-cad battery for that first week.
There is absolutely NO science or expertise behind this. I know a lot of people say that lithium batteries don't require it and it doesn't affect it, but its something I do....and it definitely can't hurt.
Except only that it does hurt Li-on and Li-Po batteries
There is an article on battery University about this

My battery life has been awesome so far. I don't charge my phone at night so I like to go to sleep with it how it is. I consistently lose maybe 1% a night. Standby on my GS3 killed my battery.
Back to stock. Battery still amazing.

Eco Mode

I noticed we don't have any threads about Eco Mode. I would like to hear other users feedback / experiences?
My experience:
I turned on Eco Mode earlier this morning and haven't notice any difference performance wise. Battery wise I have seen about a 10% difference to what I would be about now. (10 hours and down to 65%, whereas I probably would be down to ~55%). From what I understand Eco Mode shuts down 2 cores, essentially making it a dual-core. I ran two quadrants (Not that these matter) with Eco Mode off 7500, and with Eco Mode on 5500 (2000 difference). I also played some games and couldn't notice anything. Honestly, I wouldn't even be able to tell if it was on or off without doing a quadrant.
Based on my experience with Eco Mode I would recommend it be turned on. At the end of a charge cycle there is potential to save 20% battery life at no cost to performance (visually). As always YMMV.
For the most part I don't see much difference. I know the phone runs cooler most of the time and a tad bit more battery life. A little bit if screen lag sometimes with it on. Most of what you will ever do with this phone won't need 4 cores so it's a nice addition.

I hope we see this as well. I read a review of the Nexus 4 a bit ago over at Ars Technica, at one point they compared the performance of it to our LGOG and found the Nexus 4 faster "out the gate" but would stutter after being under load for a while (think playing a somewhat graphically intensive game). The reviewer concluded the kernels used in the Nexus 4 allowed the processor to run full boar without much of a governor so it would start to approach the thermal barrier and subsequently hindering performance. The LGOG kernels, however, were more restricted and allowed for more substantiated performance, resulting in better battery life and a cooler phone.
See review here:
arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/11/nexus-4-two-thirds-of-a-great-phone/
I remember reading that article, too. I don't think LG gets enough credit for their Android "skin" and the thought they put into this phone. It's not perfect, but they did a really good job in my opinion.
A
I really do believe that Google rushed android 4.2. They should have added some kind of power management to the Nexus 4...
that which the hardware people giveth...the software people taketh away.
or...
you may not need all four cores today, but before end of life i'll bet you're glad you have em. i remember folks saying "what on earth would you need 512K of RAM for?" and "Why did you get a 100GB Hard Drive, you'll never need all that space."
Will Eco Mode keep your phone in dual-core mode no matter what, or does it dynamically turn cores on/off based on what you're doing?
It's dynamic AFAIK.

The os is the biggest battery user only because the screen is using very little power by comparison, skewing percentages.

I would be guessing as many people have complained about AndroidOS being out of control. However, what I was referencing was my post just above that where I said AOS should never be "MY" biggest source of battery consumption. If I get 3.5 hours of screen-on time, the battery would necessarily use more power than anything else unless there is an issue. No matter when I measure the battery stats, android os is the biggest consumer of battery. Right now I have 5hrs 35mins of charger. 23% screen power consumption with 2hrs 5 mins on time. However, I've 41% android battery consumption with on time of 3hrs 43 mins. It's a ROM or kernel thing. Not blaming our devs, they're doing the best with what they have released to them. However, there is something wrong as we should all be getting better battery life than we are with this size battery.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
After having several android devices, I know that if screen on time is over 2.5 hours it should always be the highest battery usage. Also, Android OS should never be above 20%. If it is, there is a problem.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium
If you look at battery posts from nexus 4 users. You will see their android os % at about 6 where ours is usually 40%. Its definitely a software issue.

JuiceDefender on Note 2

Anyone else using it? I've used it since OG Droid, and it's always the first app installed on any phone I get. It claims to be giving me 2.01x battery life, and with any other phone I believed it but I'm seeing people post 2 days no charge and I get about 1.25 days with very heavy use, unless I'm at work (12hr shifts 4 days a week). Thoughts? Some people claim it's junk, and I'm not so sure with a battery as big as ours we need it, or if there is a better alternative? I mean we already have a Battery Saving Mode...

I personally don't think it's needed on this phone because how long the battery already lasts and I like my smartphone to stay smart. But on my lg spectrum I used deep sleep battery saver, it was pretty good.
Also on a side note time up isn't as important as screen time. I could get days if I didn't use the phone, but if you are always on it 12 hours is pretty good
