Tweaked VZW Remix - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

This is a port of Tweaked for the T-Mobile Note 2, and the update to their latest OTA. It was ported by taking the changes and merging them into the VZW firmware, not by just replacing a few files. I will continue to maintain this and update it with the T-Mobile version, and also with future VZW Updates. It is TouchWiz and based on the latest OTA, VRALL4VRAMC3. I'm also working with dwitherell on some changes, though he did most of the work. There is a laundry list of changes, so see the main thread for a full change list. I'll put some basic stuff here though.

Basic Aroma Options <-- Going a different route
There is more, and many of the things are available in the other ROMs posted here as well. Feel free to use whomever's ROM you want, I'm just posting this for some variety If you want screenshots, download and install it, then take them yourself. It will look different based on the options you set in TSM Parts for colors/transparency/icons/etc. and trying to get pictures of everything would take forever and take up bandwidth.

[size=+2]FAQ[/size]
I'm getting a "Status 7" error when installing, WTF?
Update recovery. The recovery that is flashed during unlock does not process asserts properly (was compiled for a different model Note 2). You need to update recovery to fix it. Once you update recovery, complain to AdamOutler who isn't keeping his recovery updated in the unlock packages.
I flashed the ROM, now I'm looping on the Samsung boot logo, why did you break my phone?
If you read the title, this is a ROM. It is not a ROM+Kernel. If you weren't on a TouchWiz ROM beforehand and you are coming to this, you need to flash a kernel before going out of recovery. Otherwise, your phone isn't going to work.
Why is my phone not sleeping on the latest update?
If you've installed the latest update, there is a new option for "no wake lag". If you check this option, your phone will not sleep. It keeps any "lag" from happening by keeping the phone from entering deep sleep. This doesn't affect battery life too much unless you are in a poor signal area. If you didn't check this option, it's time to start investigating.
Where is Aroma?
I'm looking into it, but don't expect miracles when it does show up. Aroma is needlessly complex, and I don't want to deal with troubleshooting 500 different installation options and worrying about supporting them when I wouldn't use 99% of them. I'm going to make a couple changes for an upcoming release to give you some minor customization options, but nothing major.
What the hell is TSMParts (new option in Settings menu)?
A huge slew of mods and tweaks originally put together by the original members of TSM and inspired by impressive works of numerous others - the TSMParts interface acts as a control for all of the customizable fun available. There are a large number of options there - so make sure to check them all out!
I set a statusbar icon to hide, but it's still there. What gives?
The statusbar icon tweaks may require a little effort on your part for changes to take effect. All changes can be elicited with a reboot/hotboot, BUT for most there are other ways:
-- Bluetooth/vibrate-silent/alarm icons/ime -- just change their state (on/off or vibrate/sound, etc)
-- No sim -- if the notification is already active you will need to reboot/hotboot to hide it
How does this One Hand toggle work?
The toggle, when on, forces ALL one-hand options to be selected. When off, it reverts the settings to WHATEVER they were before the toggle was turned on. This is still a work in progress, but it's a start. That being said - I'm open to suggestions on how to improve it
The toggles in the pulldown are suddenly a weird large size (width) - what gives?
This happens sometimes (usually if auto-rotate is enabled) - all you need to do to "reset" the size of the toggles is enable auto-rotate, then go into an app that allows for rotation and ...well, rotate. Rotate back and check the pulldown - all should be well once again.
This is the best thing since sliced bread, can I make it rain?
Since dwitherell did most of the hard work, it'd be great if you donated to him first. Otherwise, you can click the DONATE TO ME button to the left, or click here, it's appreciated, but not expected. Clicking thanks on the posts also works.
This thing is worse than Tub Girl, how do I go back to what I had before?
Restore your phone from a backup. Didn't backup before you flashed? Guess you should have
I'm having a problem, FIX IT NAO!!!1!
Send me the output from logcat as well as details of what you do when you see the problem. If you don't know how to get info from logcat, see here. If you still can't get the info, I guess you'll just have to deal with it.
Can we get XYZ feature added?
Link to it, and I'll talk it over with dwitherell
Why don't you mention blah blah blah in your FAQ? It would have helped me a lot!
My bad - PM me anything you think should be added to this that would be helpful for the general user base!

This rom is amazing guys, probably the best touchwiz rom for our phones.

If anyone is using the build that was on Twitter, this is a minor update to that. I will also try to make patch updates for future releases so you aren't always downloading huge ZIPs to flash.

Thanks for sharing this! Is reverse portrait/180 degree rotation implemented? If not, could anyone school me on doing such a mod? I would greatly appreciate it. The apps that force orientation don't work very well for me. I'd love to be able to do it myself if it's not already baked into the ROM.

Let me find it and pull it in. I don't think it's that difficult to do, but AFAIK, it isn't implemented yet.

My apologies if this is obvious, but can this be flashed in CWM or do we need to use TWRP?
Reason I ask is I've now flashed twice after checking that MD5 is correct and all I get is a black screen.

Swapping The Kernel in ICScrewd?

I have been having numerous issues trying to get ICScrewd to run on my phone and I am almost certain its a kernel issue.
It was suggested that I swap out the kernel before flashing and that sounds like a great idea to me.
Except...... I don't know how.
Is it as simple as taking the zImage from the kernel zip I want and placing it in the rom zip I want?
Can I ignore the META-INF folder or do I need to somehow merge that over too?
I am sure there is a wiki or a how-to on this but I have looked and cant find it. Its probably because I don't know phrase my search.
But anyway, if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Yup it is that simple, just replace the file with the one you want.
You can also clean up with kernel cleaning script then flash entropy kernel in recovery

My poor phone locks up even in recovery running Siyah. Its crazy.
I am going to try this like you suggested in your thread.
I should be reporting back soon.
It worked!
So far, so good.
I havent had a single locked up screen or SOD since I flashed.
Thanks guys!
Interesting, i've been using siyah for a long time and never experienced any issues.

Just curious since I have never tried a mod with any major changes, what are the benifits of changing out the Kernel, and what are the differences between them?

For myself the benefit was actually being able to run the ICScrewd rom at all.
In my experience of several years of flashing, some kernels just wont work with some phones.
It sound odd and all that, but my real world experience has led me to give each kernel I am interested in several tried and if they continually crash my phone I move on. I have no idea why this would be. Coming from the Captivate I tried all sorts of kernel and rom combinations. If they didn't work well I just moved on.
As far as different kernels go, some have better battery life than others due to built in tuning I believe. They can be cleaned up to help your phone run faster. And obviously from my experience here in this thread, help your phone be stable.
Excuse my noobness, please. I figured this would be a pretty relevant thread to post this question.
I flashed Siyah 2.6.9 via Odin and then in recovery installed ICScreweD. Did doing so revert my kernel to the older version of Siyah used in the rom?
If so, can I just flash in the newer version using Odin or should I research another method?
This is my first root/mod so I'm still a little nervous about messing up.

yes this reverted to the older kernel included in the rom, to flash the newest kernel. Load the zip of the kernl onto your sd card, enter CWM and flash the zip. Much easier to do than with odin.
Thanks! I was pretty sure that was the case but figured I should ask anyway. I've been lurking these forums for a while and it's awesome how helpful this community is to everyone.
While on the subject of ICScreweD, is there anything I will lose by going to the green edition? The website is kinda unclear as to if there are any features not yet available in the green edition.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Was planning on starting with the icons today. Will give it a go and see what I can do I just wanted to get the framework right before modding the icons
Awesome work man !!
I was keenly searching for some like this .. awesome work man for incorporating features of both AOSP and TW in single rom.
Although I was wondering , if it would be possible to change DPI to say 210-220 which would make the rom rather pleasing to eyes. With new S3 touchwiz (or even the old one) everything looks so big. So if the LCD density can be altered in build.prop such that dailer is not affected, that it would be amazing.
Keep up the good work !! will give the rom a try today ..
Love it so far....could you port the s3 lock screen by any chance?

3g should be fixed now as of V1.1. The modem was changed to a more stable version with reliable 3g and Wifi
Portal Rom V1.1 Download has been linked on the 1st post
Portal Rom 1.1
Everything listed in Version 1.0
Removed some Apps that can be installed from the Play Store
Settings got new Glow icons to match the rest of the Rom
S-Voice was included as a default feature including wake up features and Dock features
Changed the Modem to XXLPS as it obtains a Wifi lock quicker and in general seem more stable than the new XXLPX.
3G and Wifi Stability resolved. It was related to the latest modem driver.
Rom got a Performance boost by removing start-up scripts that was running in the background. This is not affecting functionality but you should see better battery and overall performance - Let me know please if it made a difference
TW4 has been updated and it should respond a little bit smoother than before.

i wouldn't say he is ignoring..simply not paying attention to post that point out nothing of real importance....your post would be such a post....
simply posting something to be noticed does not make your post a good post....
sure it may not belong here, but that is for MODS to decide, not some user looking to point fingers....contribute, develop, or simply read and don't post anything...
OP, i am finding the phone locks up like a biznotch when i answer a call....the screen goes black and i am unable to waken it back up...pretty annoying when trying to call my voicemail!
Look nice. Loved it if all of the samsung bloatware were removed

sure it may not belong here, but that is for MODS to decide, not some user looking to point fingers....contribute, develop, or simply read and don't post anything...
OP, i am finding the phone locks up like a biznotch when i answer a call....the screen goes black and i am unable to waken it back up...pretty annoying when trying to call my voicemail!

Is that on V1.1 or on V1.0?
V1.0 was using a flakey modem where V1.1 it was replaced by a proven reliable Modem.
I am in essence reading what everyone is saying and its sad that pointing the finger is all they are able to contribute to my rom I worked on and other ppl's roms. What constitutes original? Considering what original means "unique" please show me a rom exactly like mine?
Would only the 1st CM9 then be considered original and ALL the others then just be classified as "nothing original" as its just theming?
I did have this discussion with a Mod and it really don't matter to me where it is hosted. This is something I am doing for the users not for myself.
Problem occurred on both v1 and v1.1.
I think it may have to do with the UV. Going to fully wipe and reflash 1.1.
Will use voltage control to change the UV settings.

PLUS YOU WILL NEED TO FLASH GAPPS AFTER
Jelly Bean 4.2 Gapps here (CM10.1)
(use top row CM10.1 link for 11/30)
WHAT WORKS
(Basically, most items I tested work)
Hardware Acceleration (Thanks to Hascode for all things related to HD codecs customization)
HD Codecs (YouTube)
NOT WORKING
Bootanimation needs a display bugfix (Landscape mode default)
Recents list also needs a display bugfix
Sound does not always work (seemingly random), especially with Apps like Google Play music.
USB Transfer speed seems very low (800kb/s)
INSTALLATION
FULL WIPE is required when coming from a 4.1 ROM. Use Titanium Backup to restore apps.
Download the ZIP
Grab the GAPPS (11/30 from goo.im/gapps)
Reboot into CWM
Make your backup
Wipe -> Factory Reset (data/cache)
Flash both .zip files
Reboot and Enjoy
Special Credit to Hascode for help during preparing this release.

No, i though it was implemented in the ROM. Anyways can you provide me a link for the most updated way to install the firmware, mikos wrote about an app but can't find it so i guess that means it's not ready yet. Thanks!
@kuzma maybe you can add to the install instruction that you need to have the 10 touch firmware installed and a link of it, that will make it easier for the ones that stop following the forum.

Just FYI - flashed this and I really like it so far. Everything you stated seems to be working for the most part. Thanks and great job. Once I use it more I will notify you of any problems that I come across.
Sent from my NT running Kuzma's Jelly Bean 4.2.1
i find the auto-rotate needs a fix in general, it's not only the bootanimation that is off standard. 7 inch tablets were changed to be portrait by default. i also find that sound doesn't work 100% either, but that's a minor problem.
This is a really good release and i can't wait to see what you do to it :3
Add support both 2 point and 10 point touchscreen firmware. Filename for release same full_acclaim-jb-20121213.zip. If anybody with 2 point firmware download this file this morning (Ukraine timezone) please download it again.
Couple things I'm seeing...
Clock Force Closes every boot
Microphone is not working with Google Now (this has had issues on other 4.1 roms, so not surprised that it doesnt work here, although there is a patch, somewhere for it)
Daydream setting for Clock causes a settings force close (others work fine, could be related to the Clock Force Close on bootup).
Google Now says Location services are turned off, they are turned on in settings, so something isn't right there.
I will post back if i can find that patch and try it out to see if it will fix the mic issue.
EDIT: I tried the patch (used to be a flashable .zip file, now is an APK) and was not able to use the mic afterwards still

appears that true tablet mode is completely gone (even setting Density to 133, i could not get it), this is fine, as with a lower density, i REALLY like the UI the way it is.
I will post back if i can find that patch and try it out to see if it will fix the mic issue.

If I recall, Google removed Tablet Mode entirely from 4.2.x
Well, not removed just locked it out (confirmed by PA team). You're not likely to find it until someone hacks something together to get it back.

yeah, i figured as much, thats cool, i got used to a lower than stock lcd_density, so i'll just set it at 140 and see if it causes any problems... i will have to say that i like the phablet ui at that scale though, it still pretty clean, and nice.

[ROM][4.4.2][ND7][7/3] SR Remix KitKat | Stable | DeOdex | Zipaligned | Fast

Welcome! If you found yourself looking for something like CleanROM based on the new 4.4.2 OTA, then you have come to the right place. Scott has moved on to other devices, so I decided to follow along with what he started. This has been thoroughly tested by myself and others with no issues. Want stability you can trust? I have not had a reboot with this ROM, nor have any testers. For best results, please follow the installation instructions below!
About:
Stock Look & Feel
Stable
Fast & Smooth
Based on the new FND7 OTA from VZW
Features:
Rooted (SuperSU)
Init.d enabled
Busybox
DeOdexed
Bloat Removed
Wifi Tether Fix
3 Way Reboot Menu
Updated Samsung and Google apps in /System
Build.prop tweaks for performance
What works:
Everything
What doesn't:
Nothing!
Credits:
Chainfire for SuperSU
killa408shark for testing
@icedventimocha for 3 way reboot
Phil3759 for the wonderful recovery
scrosler for CleanROM
jbeitel for the 1% battery mod xml's and images
Team N3BULA - @lacoursiere18 ; @Deckoz2302 ; @fkfmfz - Because they are awesome!
Installation:
Must have recovery installed (I recommend either Philz or CWM)
Copy ROM to external SDcard
Flash the new 4.3 firmware with Odin 3.07 from the OTA found HERE!
Reboot to current ROM
Reboot to Recovery
Wipe Data/Factory reset (I always do 3x for good measure)
Wipe Cache (Again, I always do 3x for good measure)
Wipe Dalvik Cache
I recommend formatting System, Cache, Data, and /sdcard (internal memory) on first install but this may not be completely necessary as it will wipe absolutely everything. If you decide to wipe the internal memory, make sure your backups and this ROM is stored on the external sdcard.
Flash ROM
Profit!
A couple things to note:
This is built from the OTA tar. Not another ROM or the leak!
If you use a different kernel, do not report issues until you verify issue with stock (included kernel).
If you do not flash firmware with Odin and use Mobile Odin instead, do not report issues until you flash FW with Odin on the computer.
I am not responsible if you brick your phone, but of course you would know that if you are flashing this.
Of course your warranty is already voided from rooting your phone.
If you would like to use this as a base, please include me in your credits and link to this thread.
I am in general a very busy person, so I like to rely on you and other XDA members to help eachother. That is what this is all about right? I will continue to update this as I feel necessary. With my flashing habit, that may be alot
I built this ROM for my personal use and decided to share because of how well it works.
I am not a themer, so don't expect any fancy themes! If you would like to create a theme and share, please let me know and I will add it to the OP. This goes for any other MOD. I am happy to add things to the builds if they work well and you want to contribute.
Changelog:

Also Note: If you do not clean flash this and use an email exchange account, please remove your exchange account before flashing and re-add it after install. Otherwise you will experience FC issues.

I'm up and running! Almost got to impatient during the Verizon boot but I just set it aside... didn't take long.
I can't get the WiFi to turn on.... I've seen this before and I thought flipping the Mobile Data off and on would fix the issue but it didn't work. I wiped my internal sdcard because I had too many backups. I will keep playing around with it, like I said I've seen this before I just can't recall what I did to fix it....

Did you flash firmware before or after flashing the rom? Does the switch immediately go back to off or does it try to turn on and eventually go back to off?

[ROM][P600][4.4.2][UEUCNK1][December-01-2014] eNoteX [V2] - Aroma - NitroX - MW

eNoteX V2
Be surprised !
The definitive Best Customizable Rom for the best tablet Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. This is for P600 for now......
Thank you if you want to buy me a beer, I need one after these last few weeks fighting with framework and Aroma.
Don't post the link for the rom anywhere else that XDA but you can refer to the thread.
Features:
Deodex
Zipalign
Busybox
Knox free
Init.d
Supersu 2.37
Base P600UEUCNK1 (latest build)
Xluco kernel V3 Stable
Better Keyboard
4 way multi windows
Floating Multi Windows
2 themes Stock and Flat UI from Pro
You can go to very slim to any soft you want to have
Too much add to tell, just install and go to Aroma
Many Build Prop Tweaks
Ad /Data/app feature in the Rom
NitroX Sparks edition
Huge Aroma Installer
5 launchers including Magazine (probably buggy but work) , Apex, Nova, stock and stock fast
I added the soft Reboot Menu that works very well
I warn you this build is very very fast. And Battery life is dawn good. Don't install too much Samsung and Google stuff; make a good selection, you can always go back in Aroma.
Instalation
To install place the zip file in your external SD reboot in Recovery mod.
Flash zip file and follow aroma installer, use the touchscreen gently as it is very sensible and you can install something you don't want.
You can dirty flash if you want but I suggest backing up before and try.
I don't recommend that of course, better Factory reset and wipe caches.
Let the rom settle for a while.
Rom do not affect wifi recovery.
Don't tell me hand writing recognition don't work, Install languages first.
In the first Aroma page if you install Gmail Exchange as only mail don't install Gmail on the Aroma Google apps applications.
To put more apps in Multi-windows use Wanam Xposed.
To enable Nitro:
Open Terminal
SU
MENU
Option 3
1
1
To do: Some cleaning in system and Aroma descriptions.
You tell me what you want for V3 (Already have some nice ideas).
Bugs:
I hope a few to keep me busy.

This Rom made me think at something; I really didn't have a lot of knowledge how to build from stock so I really learned a lot, so I maybe write a tutorial before I forget for those interested. Not hard but you have to follow the steps. Decompiling framework and recompiling to change the title is not like eating a piece of cake. That was challenging.

:good: I think I can post the link in few hours.
Yes I think we would all like a new Rom based on the new firmware. Thank you for your work.
I think the more you can leave the ROM full of bloat by default and provide options to debloat maybe in aroma?
I only say this because often users like a particular bloat app and it is easier to remove them after an install than it is to add them in usually.
Just my opinion. Thanks for the new ROM, when I get a moment I'll flash it on my tablet.
Thanks for your work. the more support we can get the better. best to take it slow and keep it stable. i agree on the debloat. there is actually a lot that i need for work. an aroma installer debloat might be best. but its your work so do what you want.

Download fine here but I will upload with Mega in few hours
Next step is check out some "battery saver" and "performance" tweaks from Hyperdrive rom and see if you could incorporate them into this NI1 base rom. Xluco kernel is the best. This probably the kernel for reference.

The other thing I am always concerned about with tablets etc is that they are not always supported into the future. Having a rock solid stock ROM with all the original features intact means that long after Samsung abandons this device (sorry for being pessimistic haha) we will still have a really nice stock ROM. Some of my legacy devices are running ROMs that haven't been updated for years, but work perfectly because some nice dev made a stable and thoughtfully tweaked stock ROM.
I'm running this ROM on my tablet now, absolutely no dramas.
To those of you who are using this ROM after trying other custom ROMs, have you noticed any changes in battery life? Can you post details regarding which apps/games and/or kernel you're using?
Thanks!

Honestly there arent too many mods that i actually use even with everything offered in Hyperdrive. i think the biggest ones are being able to add more apps to pen window and multiwindow. being able to split them into 4 apps is nice but its not a 12.2 screen so i am really only using 2 at a time anyway. also have the 4 way reboot menu is always nice. other than that with speed and stability that is all i need in a rom for this tablet. of course totally my opinion. i agree with what you said about keeping it stable for when this is eol with samsung is important. it will happen sooner or later however i am sure we will get L at some point. hasnt even been a year. that would be outrageous.
C to F
How can I change the temp reading in the weather widget to read in F instead of C?
Nice Job
The Rom works well nicely done thank you for a current stock rooted Rom that we can flash to

You do know that you don't need Hyperdrive for 4way multi window? All you need is the app multi window plus and wanam xposed tool to add more apps to it.
As for the tweaks, I found some build prop tweaks and init d tweaks from Hyperdrive that I took and they work fine with this rom :good:
@enotar
Thanks for the rom, the only suggestion I have is for the Tab S UI to be made for this NI1 rom, currently it is only available for cnd3 roms if you look in the themes and apps section but if you could make that work with this it would be great :good:
