What does the purple ***LOCKED** icon mean - HTC Amaze 4G

This is probably a very noob question, but I wanted to know what the purple **Locked** icon meant at the top of the bootloader. When I first got S-Off using juopunutbear that actually read juopunutbear, but to get supercid I reverted hboot SPH 1.93.0002 using the s-off toolkit to flash the hboot After getting supercid the bootloader gives me the purple locked icon. I tried to flash the ENG 1.90.2005 hboot with the s-off tookit also but I'm still on 1.93.0002. id just like to know what the locked icon means and if it's something that will prevent me from flashing roms (I currently on Dark Glass ONE 0.6.) Thanks in advance for any assistance
My bootloader reads as such
*** LOCKED ***

(don't know if that's needed but i included it)
**Edit**
I think the locked is referring to my bootloader being locked? i seem to remember when i rooted with the root toolkit I used the htcdev method to unlock the bootloader. Is my bootloader locked again?

Bootloader is locked again. But with s-off, the unlockng of the bootloader is no longer neccesary

Phone still Locked, but Hboot 1.5 is s-OFF?

I have no idea what I did, but I have S-off 1.5 HBOOT, yet my phone is still locked...
Proof attached.
I will attempt to unlock the phone using HTC's Method. Will post results
So
I am now unlocked using the the HTC method (I had S-Off already right?)
Any chance this is a holdover from when the revolutionary method failed, which was before I was forced to update on Aug 23rd? There's really no logical reason my S should be off right?

If you ran revolutionary prior to get the OTA then that would explain why you still have S-Off even with HBoot 1.50
I'm in the same boat.. I just purchased a used EVO 3D, the first thing I wanted to do was check hboot. Unfortunately it has hboot 1.50 installed, but it reports S-OFF. Like you I'm thinking the previous owner unlocked and achieved s-off but then updated which locked the bootloader .
That being said, I'm bummed.. I can either go the HTC method (void warr) or get in line and wait for the proper support in a upcoming revolutionary release? Do I have any other options? Is there nothing else I can do?

If it's s-off, you can flash anything you want...right? You can downgrade hboot if the locked bothers you or just use HTC's method. Just try flashing something and see if it works. I have a feeling it will.

With S-Off you should still be able to flash a custom recovery and root even though your boot loader is locked. That is the beauty of using Revolutionary, you may lose root when you take updates, but it keeps you S-Off and you can re-root by flashing CWM and Superuser.

That's what I thought, I attempted to flash recovery from adb but was geeting an error message (FAILED (remote: not allowed). So after reading your replies I decided to try install TWRP by way of PG86IMG.zip, which worked. I removed the *.zip, rebooted into hboot, and then launched recovery. I'm doing a nandroid backup as we speak then will attempt to install a ROM.

[Q] hboot question

this is what my hboot says and im not sure why
LOCKED
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-OFF RL

why is there a "RL" at the end of s-off
I don't know what the rl stands for and I'd like to know as well, but that is perfectly normal. I recommended the dev hboot if you intend to modify from here on out as unlocking with the htcdev will make it a pain to return to stock. (Relock, s-on, s-off then s-on again)

ive been s-off for a while now and i was on a modifided hboot with ics firmware and ics rom. i decided to downgrade my firmware to the 2.11 GB. after that is when the RL showed up at the end of s-off.
i never unlocked after s-offing and now its is acting like im locked and s-on.
i even had to flash recovery with fastboot as no other method would work.
i am going to unlock and s-off again. i just thought it was weird how it happend
nevermind, i just looked at a pic i had and the "RL" is there. i guess i just never noticed it before
Are you still s-off'd? Did you unlock yet? It's as easy as flashing a patched 2.11 hboot via ph98img to get fastboot commands to work again.
Do not bother to unlock once you have S-off. Trust me, just unwanted trouble.
Just flash a JuopunutBear hboot.
Edit: to elaborate just a bit, if you did need to do a warranty exchange or repair and wanted the bootloader to look stock by saying Locked/S-on:
Coming from Locked/S-off you'd just run a GB RUU and do a few fastboot commands to achieve S-on.
Coming from Unlocked/S-off, you'll need to do the RUU, relock bootloader, and do fastboot commands for S-on... then the whole S-off procedure again... then repeat RUU and fastboot S-on.

2. When you see this:
JuopunutBear S-OFF success
Installing JuopunutBear hboot.....
(To verify, your screen should say *** LOCKED *** at this point anyways, we just want to stop it before the following happens)
Press CTRL+C or unplug your data cable to prevent JuopunutBear from flashing it's hboot which replaces *** LOCKED*** with *** JuopunutBear ***

This is a good reminder for users that there is a way to get rid of the "***RELOCKED***" status that is a flag to HTC/Sprint that your phone was unlocked at some point by using the JuopunutBear (wire trick) method for S-OFF.
You should get a prompt from the controlbear utility after performing the wire trick asking if you want the JBear bootloader and can just reply "N" to that to stay with the stock bootloader and show the "***LOCKED***" status. Even if you take the JBear version the bootloader is still locked, and will show that way if you flash a stock bootloader. Once you are S-OFF it's easy to change bootloaders, so it really isn't too critical which bootloader you choose during the wire trick process.

If you had the Revolutionary or some other custom bootloader before it was probably hiding the "*** LOCKED ***" status with its name even though your bootloader was actually locked. The custom bootloaders ignore the locked status and support the fastboot commands that normally require an HTC unlocked stock bootloader.

Does this method work in HTC Evo 3D GSM?

[Q] S-off Issue

I rooted and got S-Off using this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026938
Afterwards I had to do a reset through the phone due to data issues, now its showing S-On, and nothing is working to turn it back off. Running the RUU errors everytime. Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated.
Did you relock your bootloader? You need to do that before running the RUU.
Well if you followed the link you posted, then you were never s-off. That thread is not a s-off thread. That would explain the s-on. Can you boot the rom.?

My thread you posted only tells you how to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP recovery, and install SuperSU it does not give you S-OFF you need to go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964309 or http://unlimited.io/jewel.htm if you want to get S-OFF

It would not say S-OFF unless you used the DirtyRacun. It says Tampered Unlocked because you used htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader

But now my Touchscreen Hardware doesn´t work right. Now i will send it to HTC that they repair it, so I wanted to do this Tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710033 . My question is: When I do this, will I have restored my warranty, or can they prove, that I rooted it?
Will they repair it?

As I also stated in my tutorial I do not know if this will help if you unlocked via htcdev. If I remember correctly, I had some users thanking me for reaching LOCKED even though they have used htcdev method to unlock. BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST BE UNLOCKED BEFORE YOU TRY THAT TUTORIAL. Otherwise it won't have any effect.
folow this steps to gain locked status.
1.in Fastboot type "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" to make s-on (do this only if your booloader relocked)
2.download this officiall ICS rom http://www.filefactory.com/file/2hw...00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed.exe (just run this RUU file on your PC and folow steps to install on phone)
3.Unlock Bootloader again with HTCdev metod (fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin)
4.Install Custom recovery and SU Binary to gain root
5.Make wiretrick from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743466 Method D (steps 3. to 12.) if all done your bootloader will be ***Juopunutbear*** and s-off
6.download this file put on sd card enter to bootloader and install https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gb42iuhjc8vk09z/3wDN9J3AFn/PG86IMG.zip (now your bootloader will be ***Locked*** and s-off)
7.in Fastboot type "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" to make s-on
8.Run again RUU officiall ics from step 2, and your phone now completly stock, locked bootloader. s-on and officiall ics
Thank you!
Now I´m Locked, S-On and HBOOT 1.53.0007 !!
Now I hope, they will repair it
