Re: [DEV] Ubuntu Phone - Rev 0.1
Would love to give this a try, but is it simple to revert back to previous rom?
I'm hoping it's as simple as booting into recovery and using my nandroid backup.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

I've tried it and it's awesome.
Yes, it's not for daily usage....but i hope it in next update
good job man!!

first i did a backup then installed the provided files .... it doesnt boot and then i wanted to restore the backup , when i saw my internal memory was formated nothing left ....

Re: [DEV] Ubuntu Phone - Rev 0.1
Lorenzodj
Is this easily reverted back to Android roms via cwm/twrp? I know this isn't ready for daily but still wanna try it out and obviously want to make sure I can easily flash back to the current rom I am on now.
Update: gave it a shot and hoped for the best.
Not to keen on Ubuntu as I am so used to Android OS, but it does look nice and is very smooth.
I got the usual problem when booting up with the flickering N7100 splash screen, but after a few mins Ubuntu did load.
Simple to revert back to android with CWM.
I'll give this a proper test when more things are working.
Good work to the dev and keep it up my friend

sure you didnt wipe your internal sdcard instead of system in recovery? (considering how close they are and that i've done that a couple of times)

It doesnt wipe your recovery, hence you can always revert.

does it wipe internal memory? i cannot afford that! please confirm!

Odp: [DEV] Ubuntu Phone - Rev 0.1
This is pretty unusable but it is also something new. It could be awesome fully working.

It does NOT wipe internal memory. I hwve tested this myself and so have 3 others so far who havent reported the internal wipe.

If it really wipes your internal all you need to do is backup nandroid and/or titanium backup folder to your computer.

First and foremost
This ROM was originally ported to the Nexus One by eViL, and was maintained by him until version 0.4 testrom. Credit for the port and several tweaks goes to him. Yessir, 512MB min. It's listed in the original Desire Z port that eViL did, but it looks like wd forgot to post that in this new thread. I'm sure the OP will get updated with that tidbit when wd gets around
I got the same md5 too, but it's always nice to have it from the source.
What about wifi hotspost and USB tethering? Are they working flaweslly?
Is there a mirror for this one, cant get it from the original download post.

I'm using Dual Mount SD, it's a paid app (~$1 iirc) that allows you to mount to your PC, while still being accessible from the phone (via file browser or playing music).

Well, I'm back on cm9 because about every 3 minutes or so it would kick my out to the boot sequence. I kept trying to download the LCD density modder to fix the screen density from hdpi to mdpi, but I couldn't due to the frequent crashes. I dunno if this is just me and I botched the install somehow or if this ROM is still extremely alpha. If these are routine problems id recommed putting "WIP" or "devs only" in the thread name. Just IMO. Hope this is just a problem with my install.

The rom should work but the kernel is for 16g only. You need to mod it (change the irboot) for it to work on 8g.

[ROM] CM9 (ICS) for the Galaxy Player 5.0 USA

Howdy fellas,
I decided to make a new thread for the development for the US Galaxy Player 5.0
Before we begin, I'd like to give credit to a few xda developers that made this all happen
ambrice (Using his kernel source from his CM7 ROMs)
Entropy512 (Ported ClockworkMod)
tdmcode (Helping me when I need it)
Here's the kernel sources: https://github.com/JackpotClavin/linux_kernel_galaxyplayer
Device source is here: https://github.com/JackpotClavin/Samsung-Galaxy-Player-5.0-U.S.-CM9-ICS
What doesn't work:
Camera
Netflix
Instructions
12/5/2012
This ROM is in the form of a clockwork backup. What you should do is download the .zip, unzip it and push it to your clockwork backup directory (as if it were just another backup) then, do a factory reset, and make a clockwork restoration of this ROM. Then reboot and enjoy. Gapps are included in this ROM!
0da7b76075ad2fbcbc2a2b694fa5fe46 CM9-HWA-12.5.2012.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?cej55ivhc9x2556
This comes with the navigation keys on the bottom (like the Galaxy Nexus) and does not use the actual keys on the bottom of the bezel
12/6/2012
Install this boot.img like you would install any other type of ROM in clockwork recovery. This boot.img fixes the bluetooth issue, as well as the fixing the previous inability to download apps from the Android Marketplace =)
http://www.mediafire.com/?z976cetwscrmfff
You will also have to install the Bluetooth fix .zip from a fellow XDA dev Supermaster34 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847045
For the old ROM from March:
Outdated and old (no hardware acceleration) You can download the latest .zip from here -> http://www.mediafire.com/?1blgg21e3f0pyk4
93cafb00396bc9596aee3d371af12bb4 3-31.zip
Download the latest Gapps from here http://goo-inside.me/gapps/

i didn't make a zip to revert it, but you can wipe your system and reflash the initial update+gapps
Well thanks for this awesome job
Everything works very smooth and without lags
By the way i love the virtual soft buttons but we need to turn off the light from normal buttons
Is the Bluetooth bug resolved? Thats the only thing that keeps me from using this ROM.
Thank you so much for the effort!
haven't tried to solve bt :/ i don't have any devices
what's wrong with it exactly? everything?
flashed it over the 3-18-IC-ALPHA.zip setup that i had going, cleared cache/dalvik, rebooted. everything works great, however now modern combat 3 won't load.
I am guessing no tablet mode but thanks for these awesome updates! Will try and post my results!

Intl
I have an Intl yp-g70 and I can confirm that this rom works on it. I reflashed nosiyfox's patch for the hardware buttons right away, so I'm not sure if that's a necessary thing to do after coming from ICS.
By the way, I really like the boot anim and the CRT screen off anim!
EDIT
Oh and I love the background now scrolling!
Will this overwrite apps if I'm coming from the previous cm9 alpha?
Sent from my YP-G70 using XDA
No, I just installed it, I still have all my old settings.
Woot! How can I disable the soft keys then. I'm not exactly loving them.
Sent from my YP-G70 using XDA
that's why i told you not to wipe data if you've been on a previous ics rom
everything you do on your phone is stored on /data. from your passwords stored on your browser to do you home screen arrangement to your contacts. all the rom does is update the /system and the kernel so you won't lose anything that's stored on data as long as you don't wipe it (and you don't have to)
Works on 5.0 US thanks ;D patiently waiting for tablet mode support!
Gapps won't work for me, build.prop errors I think.
Just a personal request, but is it possible to mount emmc as sdcard just like the aokp rom ported by rice?

In the older version, Bluetooth didn't turn on at all, try it with your device.
And one request, can you write a changelog for the changes you make?, it is easier for all of us to keep track of resolved bugs.
Again, thank you.
EDIT: I can confirm that Bluetooth still doesn't work.
Wow thx!!!!!

[ROM][VRALJB] angelROM Touchwiz Debloat Build 6 (12/19/12)

Thanks to beanstown106 for the deodexed base, saved me a couple steps http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37445-romtwrp-stock-root-deodexed-insecure-kernel-vraljb/
Thanks to AdamOutler for the bootloader unlock
First ROM release in over 2 years! This is just a basic deodexed rom (for now). I wanted a debloated rom, and couldnt really find one with the stock feel, so I threw one together. There is still some work to be done on the debloat, and also some features that I want to add to this rom. Pretty much, this was built for me personally, just figure I would release and let everyone else enjoy it!
The big mod that I have already included has been ExtSd2InternalSd found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772234
This swaps your internal and external sd cards, so your sd card functions just as you would expect if you've used any android phone pre-ICS. The requirement is that your sd card is exfat formatted.
I will release two versions, one with ExtSd2InternalSd and one without it. Let me know what yall think and have fun with it! This is going to be such a great device!
Just to be safe, I ALWAYS RECOMMEND FACTORY WIPE BEFORE INSTALLING ANY ROM!
12-21-12 - Ive been doing some testing with the perseus kernel found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048013 I think the dev changed some mount points in the ram disk, because the script i have been using for extsd2internalsd stopped working. I made some changes to it, and seems to be working as expected. I will package it up and upload it tonight. Might build my own kernel this weekend to fix the mount point changes back to normal.

You mean "be a greatER device"? lol. Nice mod to the ROM with the internal external swap. Be nice to see that in all ROMs.

it was pretty simple, took me a couple minutes to make sure that everything working correctly, but its soooo nice with my 64gb sd card
Awesome, will be watching this, keep up the great work! God bless you .
Great idea to make that the baseline for your mod addons. Can't begin to think of how many people ask for the feature.
That's good to know that we can use this hack and it's already cooked in the rom! I will give this a go.... Thanks for sharing!! :good:
Link is no good?? Can anyone confirm?

updated with md5 in OP
This sounds like a really cool ROM build, stock yet tweaked to make it custom enough. I look forward to what else you are going to do to it and the fact you built in the Ext.SD card as primary storage. Given the limited space on the GN2 its a must for it.
One question re: debloat part, not sure what you have removed yet so could you update the OP to reflect that and perhaps post some of the .apk files in case we want to add certain one back.
Thanks for the work you are doing.
Just noticed that we need to format the ext.SD card in exFat and not Fat32. I will have to reformat first then.

Do you plan to add any mods to add any app you want to the multi-window feature?

Possibly. I have a few things I want to add this, but have not had a lot of time to totally dig into this. I might try to keep this as close to stock as possible, there will be other roms that will have those features too, but time will tell.
When it comes down to it, I may just make an update.zip for the extsd stuff that should work on any tw rom
Cool, stock works for me as well. Less stuff that risks being broken but having it as an extra add on you can install makes it a bit easier than trying to tweak it manually.
Thank you!
This is just what I need. 300mb available free space
How do I revert to the standard version if somehow I don't like the Extsd2internalsd version?
So im getting bootloop. Flashed Exsdtointernalsd version. Fsctory reset, wiped cache and dalvick and wiped system then flash rom. What am i doing wrong.

Can exfat be formatted on the phone or do you have to do it with windows machine? I don't remember it being an option on any format I have done.

CM10_FXP152/ .58 enhanced
SD 32Gb / FAT32-EXT4-SWAP
I did not notice you did this It took me about 6 hours to get TWRP working for our device.
Turbo r11 has TWRP, with backup/restore working, multiboot support and some other minor fixes. Also Turbo Kernel r11 final will support AOSP-ICS ROM's as well as JB
This is great.. Can't wait to try it on the Xperia PLAY.

hey stop giving him a hard time... i guess it's ok.. just some over-enthusiasm about TWRP
@xdarkmario
I would love to do that but
1. i do not have the device, so I cannot test and debug it (the CM10/AOKP kernel was something I know my way around even without a device)
2. I am short on time these days, and I have a slow internet connection. i cannot team up with a tester who has a play and debug it and release.
i guess you'll have to wait for someone to do it for you. (i have posted instructions on doing it on that thread)
I do not know what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying a second time, but I can not do backups with TWRP. This time I'm using updated.
On the Backup option, I mark the options: System, Data, sd-ext, Cache. Also marked "Enable Compression".
When you start the backup immediately get the message "Failed" .... E: Unable to locate boot partition.
Help please!!!
Edit: move to correct tread.

1. REPLY ON THAT THREAD. I WANT TO MAINTAIN ONLY ONE FOR TWRP NOT 18 FOR EACH DEVICE
