This weekend i lost my s2 at a party. Me and a friend found it on the floor and it was working fine but after some time the lock button didnt work. We removed the battery a couple of times etc (was drunk) and it worked fine that night. Now monday after charging the phone 100% it worked for some hours. Then when I was going to turn it on, the charging logo appears and indicates that it is charging. After some seconds it goes away and screen is black. I see that the touch buttons light up when I touch on them, and light goes off after 3 seconds. I have tried leaving it like this, and also without battery and simcard for 2 hours, but same problem. I have supernexus 4.1.1 I think, and that siyah kernel. I remember this morning there was an update of spotify and supersu that i did, but doubt this is the problem.
HELP ME

After leaving phone as it was over the night, it booted in the OS when I took in and out the battery again. Everything works fine exept power button does not work when I press. I took backup of my files and took new gapps and supernexus 4.2.2 rom in sdcard folder, but then realised I could not wipe and install new rom without the power button in the recovery.....what to do? Now it only boots in recovery mode because I was in rom manager and said it should do it. It does it even after I removed the battery. Also the phone starts itself by just inserting the battery.
Really need help here, and please detailed links or step by step, because I am completely a noob with these things, and navigating this site is hard for me :good:

Are you still on siyah? Because i think this kernel has cwm touch, i'm not sure about it.

I think im on syiah? I tried pressing the screen but it didnt work. Only touch key I can press are the back key which takes me on the top of the list again. Volume up and down works fine. Damn u power button

doesnt work. only back button work. it boots in CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.5 when i insert the battery
edit: Im pretty sure I have siyah, found Siyah-s2-v5.0.1.tar in my root folder. Is it wrong kernel I used? I cant seem to plug the phone to my pc when its in recovery mode. Only says its something with the drivers. Worked fine yesterday when the phone was turned on. So now there is no way to change kernel/rom when my phone wount leave recovery? am i ****ed?

Can you get into download mode? Flash with odin, don't know what you will lose on data etc.

Same. I think the problem is that power button does not work. Phone boots in recovery by itself when i insert the battery.

I had problems with my rooted S3 (International) earlier today, and that's why I thought that flashing a lower version of CWM may fix my problems. However, flashing CWM 5.8.4.0 actually made things worse.
I am currently stuck and cannot navigate out of CWM. Pressing Power or Home don't do/select anything, and browsing the menu is next to impossible, too (menu disappers).
Phone is not recognized by adb, it does not show in Windows Explorer either. Got a "failed to install" when I connected it.
When I try "adb devices", I only get "list of devices attached" without the phone showing.
Whenever I reboot [after bettery pull], I get back into CWM again.
CWM does not react to button presses as it should; doesn't go anywhere no matter which keys/buttons I press.
Battery pull doesn't do anything; neither does Power+Volume up or down
Looks like I am screwed... am I?
Anyone has an idea how I can get out of this and back to either CM9, or install a newer version of CWM (over the obviously dysfunctional version 5.8.4.0)?

just an idea and i think the last thing you can try..or you can try pull battery, press volume down and home button, insert battery, see if it can go download mode

Nope, battery pull/power+vol don't work. Tried that already. Does reboot straight into CWM again (no download mode, or else)

[SOLVED] I9300 stuck in CWM > Back in ODIN mode!
Geeez... That was a close one!
Apparently, and in order to get into ODIN (Download) mode on the S3/I9300, one has to press & hold...
1.) Volume down
2.) Home button
3.) Power
Once I did that, my S3 (I9300) booted into ODIN Mode. [ Big sigh of relief!!! ]
I thought it was just Volume Down + Power... but apparently I was wrong. Guess that happens if you don't use Odin for flashing all the time.
Can't wait to get home and flash a proper recovery, so I can get my phone back into work mode. It sucks not having a working phone, trust me on that... ;-)

Well i was going to install a custom rom on my samsung galaxy sii sgh-i777. i placed the 2 zip files on the sd card. I was rebooting in clockworkmod and my phone fell and the battery was knocked lose. the phone lost power and when i tried to turn it back on it would show the "rooted" home screed sgh i-9000 i think? and then dimly flicker a couple of time after that screen like it was trying to load but couldnt. i can open odin mode only while connected to computer? i cant access the drives at all. anyone have any suggestions? anything would be great! Thank you!
So you can't get into recovery while holding volume up+ volume down + power? If not, try pulling the battery while the charging cable is plugged in, leaving it out for like 10 second then putting it back in and trying recovery again. If you can't get into recovery, you'll have to Odin back to something. Have you tried getting into download mode, just tho see if you can? Plug the phone into the USB port of computer, and hold the same buttons you normally would to get into recovery.

First are you sure you have an i777 and NOT an i727 skyrocket? Did the ROM flash and then you rebooted or you were just "rebooting in clockworkmod" If the ROM flashed are you sure you flashed an i777 ROM and not an i9100 ROM? Or did it stop in the middle of the flash? Where did you get the ROM from? I have a feeling you were on galxaysIIroot? More info I hope you can get some help here! GL

It is the sgh-i777 the regular sII, also it was in the middle of flashing. I can access download mode. but not recovery mode. i got the rom off of here under ported development. it is the cm9 rom for ics. im currently searching for how i can connect this to odin the only thing ive been able to open so far is download mode.

I have no idea what page that was supposed to be, but page ids are 8 digits, not 4
Anyway, you can use one of my guides for instructions on how to flash with odin. If you want to move toward custom firmware again, use the first one in the list in my signature.
Sorry ripture, not sure how/what happened with the link, but you're in better hands now with creepyncrawly's guides.
I had the same issue though it did not happen the same way. you have to go into download mode and use Odin to unroot and then root again. I'm not sure if u need to unroot but that's the way that I did it and everything works fine now. if you need help on how to do it just pm me.

Thank you everyone for the help. I was able to unroot phone back to stock gingerbread through odin. Then i carefully rooted and tried install

I had a Pc...!....Cellphone logo so after that I tried flashing it but in the middle there were some errors which caused the player to turn off. After turning it back on it is Black Screen but you can tell the difference that it turned on. I tried going into the download mode but I couldn't. I know that there is a simple fix for that because that happened yesterday and I was able to recover it but then I messed up again.

Does it turn off? I did brick mine one time and had to remove the battery before being able to reenter download mode.

You may bricked you device.do you have CWM installed? If yes,press volume up(hold)-power button(until Samsung logo appear(4-5 secs)) Then
Backup and restore>backup
When this finish restore and you are maybe done...Always before flash a ROM Back up with CWM!!!
If no,tell what rom you where trying to install,and we WILL fix it.
Don't forget to press the tanks button

I was trying to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850. And I don't have it CWM installed. First I did the Intl. so the digitizer was responding up-side down and then I tried getting it back to US but didn't work. This is my first android device so I don't know much but if there is another way or post which tells how to get back to factory perfectly fine then tell me.
The reason I did this all was because whenever I tried to turn on the wifi it said Error and sometime turning on and then error again.

It was happening with the stock rom so I tried the one I gave you the link of and then after that this happened.
Dude,you saw you had a wifi prob,you had to go to someone to fix it before flashing...you have now lost you guarantee...

I suppose one of the updates, maybe even the latest one, could have installed a different secondary bootloader, which is where the button configurations are stored. But anyway, the odd button configuration is most likely why Phalanx7621 asked if you have the I777.
I don't have a clue why the power button won't select items in 3e recovery. Have you had any problems with the power button otherwise? Power button failure is not too uncommon with this phone. Usually it doesn't fail catastrophically, but little by little. Of course, there can be other explanations.

There was a a new update from ATT and i just press install and t restarted itself but never came back to life
I reloaded recovery all the time and pressed power button but no success(
My phone had problems before it sometimes would turn off and show me charging battery while vibrating it would be ok again when the battery drain and i start charging it again but this time ><

You need to flash the phone back to stock. Go to this thread and follow the instructions, except instead of using the download link in item 2a or 2b, which is 2.3.4 Gingerbread, go to the download repository and use the download link for 4.0.3 ICS stock, which is in the last section at the bottom of the post.

NOw start button works, if i choose reboot phone it gets stuck on RETHINK POSSIBLE too ..

I am very sorry i do not understand one thing: Start the Odin3 One-Click Downloader program by double clicking on "I777UCKH7-CL503881-No-BL.exe".
Where do you get that exe i only have that file with .md5 ending

Also it looks like computer doesn't recognize the device, when i plug it in it says the device is not recognize i deleted Kies with drivers and restarted the PC and still doesnt. Im not sure if it plays any role right now
Sound like a bad usb port. You can try cleaning it with a toothbrush an alcohol.

P.S.: Im not sure if in my case Kies should ID my device but when i turn on Kies and plug my phone in it says Connecting and never connets.
I cant access my recovery mode. I tried everything but still same. But i wanna install (https://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/development/rom-pexo-rom-v1-0-t3569525) this rom. Can i wipe partition data/cache/dalvik without recovery?
You can with Mini adb Flash a new Recovery

I already flashed TWRP but it wont work for my device. Whenever i try phone is opening normally.

Hold power button and volime down button when phone is turned off. Then when it vibrates, continuously press the volume button to enter TWRP

I tried twice. But as i said Phone is just opening normally. I turned of Phone. Then hold power and volume down buttons same time. After Phone vibrates i Pressed just volume down button. And Phone is opened normally. I think My Phone(or me) is retarted .

You did installed TWRP right? Reinstall if you did

I was trying to Flash recovery.img . I only need to find 26.3.a.1.33 's recovery.img . At least i know it perfectly right now.
