[Q] Any JTAG solution for Xperia sola? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I have a hard bricked Sony Xperia sola.
Happened during flashing a custom ROM with CWM recovery.
I have seen people saying all over the internet that Sony Xperia phones cannot be hard bricked but I am sure mine is.
It only shows red LED for a couple of seconds when connected to external charger or USB port.
No entry into fastboot or flash mode.
After searching all over the internet, I have found a surprising thing:
There are no JTAG solutions for any Sony Xperia 2011 and onward phone.
The only reason I found is again that Sony Xperia 2011 onward phones are almost impossible to hard brick.
But in my case it only took a simple recovery to hard brick a Sony Xperia 2012 phone (sola).
I have followed every single tutorial/trick available on the internet to revive it, so don't tell me it's not hard bricked.
So, is there any JTAG solution for Sony Xperia 2011 onward phones (specifically sola)?

I dont think anyone already know how to JTAG Xsola but it indeed had JTaG pin.. BTW, your problem is really same like i had experienced before with my sola.. It happen after i left it charging over laptop overnight.. Exactly same thing, when connect to wall charger, red led blink couple sec then no more.. Thought already bricked my phone as i cant enter fastboot or flashmode.. Then i take samsung wall charger and plug it,ignore the red led and left it about an hour.. Voila! My phone can turn on but stuck at boot animation.. Simply flash stock ftf and its done.. Hope this will help u..

I have used this trick once, when my mobile was not bricked. The battery completely drained one day and the Sony charger (direct or USB) was not charging it, red LED for few seconds and then nothing. But when I plugged in a Samsung charger, the red LED turned on and the mobile started charging.
But when I tried this trick now, even with Samsung charger the red LED turns off after a few seconds indicating no charging. Are you suggesting to leave it on Samsung charger even though the red LED turns off? If that is so, then even the Sony charger should work, but it does not. I have left the mobile on Sony charger for an hour or so with red LED obviously off, but still it remained dead.

I had (officially) unlocked the bootloader sometime ago, to get root via fastbooting a pre-rooted custom kernel. After that I flashed a stock kernel.
Recently, I did this. After this the battery drained and that is it.

well there are many posts of bricked fones around here , best of luck anyways...

help ...

Facing the same problem. Now, when you mentioned that Xperia Sola cannot be hard bricked, are you sure about this? And I did try charging my phone with a different wall charger. It did seem to go on fastboot mode. but for a few minutes and then went back to the same condition of fully dead. So i was kinda thinking that maybe because my battery was really low when this happened and it just needs proper charging, But i cant seem to get it to charge. Ive tried to charge it with 5 different chargers. Did not work. I seriously need help with this.
Btw, before it hard bricked, my bootloader was unlocked. and i tried to flash the cyanogenmod9 rom. ugh i am so regretting this right now. been almost 4 days T_T

[Q] Xperia X10 does not start but only the RED LED blinks on charging

Hi,
I have an Xperia X10 and it was working fine until last night. I had put it on charge overnight but when I woke up in the morning, I could see RED LED blinking and the phone will not boot up (re-start).
I have tried many suggestions found on the blog (taking out the batter, putting the phone on charge and then putting back the battery). This has not helped and my phone is till dead.
Any clue/suggestions on how to get this issue resolved?
Thanks!
Would try different charger / charger cable or charging from pc sounds like flat battery more than anything else
Kieron
sent from a x10i multitouch using a different rom every day
Sounds like a flat battery.
Could be faulty battery/charger. Try different ones.
Sure, will try out your suggestions and use a new battery.
Does any one know what it means when the RED LED flashes for continuously three times when the phone is getting charged via the main (and not USB)?
The red flashing led pattern does not indicate more than something is not working accordingly so there's no way to tell from this exactly what has caused this.
I would try a different charger if possible and if this does not help, bring the phone to the store for a warranty repair. Hope it can be sorted easily and quick.

If you're from SE why are you on freakin XDA?
i found it was my charger that was the problem. i would leave it for ages and never recieve charge but if i shifted the cable or wiggled it a bit the charge would start
red flashing light means its on power but recieving enough charge to switch on i think. like when you try to turn your phone on when the batteery is completely flat
Or simply a dead, malfunctioning battery.
Had one of those battery, and it did that when charged..

Red light issue happened to me once.i fixed it by leaving the cable in(while charging) and removing the battery. I then put the battery back in and green light!

Could be a broken USB port. It's a fairly common problem.
I just had the same problem with my X10. I left it charging overnight and now the phone won't turn on. All I get are 3 red lights blinking when I try to turn it on. I already tried a different charger and still no luck. Once when I plugged it into my PC I got it somehow to turn on, the deviced booted up but when it got into the initial screen it turned off
Wasn't the phone supposed to turn on even without the battery? I mean, can't I plug the charger and try to turn on my phone or it will only work with a battery?

Red LED flashing 3 times?
Your battery is empty.
yes, flash 3 times, but if i connect the charger the LED still flashing RED, it´s normal?
EDIT: after 1 minute the LED stop flashing
EDIT 2: I can put in flashboot (green led) and fastboot (blue led) mode, but after 2/3 minutes my phone auto disconnect...
The charger not charging the phone, i will try one different charger, when you remove the battery ang put in directly on the charger...
If somebody have anyone ideia, i´m gratefully...
Sorry about the questions, i´m totally lost...
so sorry to hear about your problem.
i have an older sony ericsson phone.
red blinking light is not a good sign.
not charging when plugged in.
tried charging the battery itself, still did not work.
could be bricked already, try taking it to service center.
Before taking an expensive visit to the service...
Get Sony Mobile Update Service(link in my signature), install it and try Repair option on your phone, it will require to place your phone in flashmode(green LED).
What happened actually before turning off? Did the phone turn itself off or you did?
Hi,I think its just the battery broken. The phone did work since the battery was disscharged, its the battery for 99% sure.Dont buy new one, maybe some of your friends have same kind battery,or go to phone service and tell you want to check if its going to work,so they dont charge you nothing and you will see if its work.Hope I help you mate.

1st - Batteries don't break down like this.
2nd - Phone's LED works, so battery still has power inside.
3rd - I have discharged my phone's battery completely quite a lot of times, still works just great(never calibrated and will never do).

[Q] Xperia Ray not charging/ need to unroot to send for repair

Hi guys, i consider myself an intermediate around the android OS and i have tried most solutions that came to my head with no results.
My problem is the following:
My xperia ray is running stock rom ICS and is rooted. That's it
One day my battery suddenly drained to 0% and phone shut off.
Since then, i cannot charge it. Whenever i plugged it, the led blinks red /sometimes keep blinking/something always red/sometimes the phone boots after 10 seconds from entering the main page it will reboot.
I tried a different battery, the phone worked, so i bought another battery but the same happened, it suddenly went to 0% and not charging anymore.
Now I cannot access the phone via USB since it is not recognized and i can't work on it since there is no power,
What can i do to at least unroot it before sending it to warranty?
Try reflashing..

unlocked bootloader and rooted, or can you root without unlocking it? I actually forgot since the ray was always my secondary device.
Do you mean i rule out any hardware problem, this is related to software only ? Since my Pc cannot recognize the phone, it gives me usb device not recognized..
Might be a hardware problem..cant say for sure..

We cannot rule out any hardware problem as of now..,yes you can root without unlocking the bootloader.
This might be a software issue..are you running on stock kernel ?
Can you enter into fastboot or flash mode ?
Have u installed the adb drivers? does your pc recognise any other xperia 2011 phone ?

My phone isn't holding any charge, the battery is always 0, when charging it only gives red lights. Sometimes the phone will boot, it will show the xperia logo, go into the main lockscreen for 5 seconds then shuts off.
Buying a universal charger would mean waiting for 1 month for it to be delivered since i only found it on ebay

Was it damaged by water?
it's really easy to check if it was water damaged, open the back cover and look for a small WHITE rectangle, if you see a red rectangle it was water damaged, same with the battery it has a small white rectangle
IF NOT..see if SUS or PC companion recognises the phone..Repair your phone if it recognises.
IF NOT take out your phone battery for 15 seconds..put it back turn on the phone..and connect the charger but DO NOT SWITCH ON YOUR PHONE..let it charge for 5 HRS continuously..
IF NOT Try using another battery to turn your phone on...and see if it charges up..
Still NOT working?,Have you unlocked your boot loader ?

Thank you for your suggestions, i did something in the meanwhile.
I have a co-worker who has the exact phone, so i put my battery in her phone and charged it. In the meantime, i used her battery inside my device and used flashtool to flash stock ICS.
My device had bootloader unlocked, i managed to lock it back.
Now after i have a clean ICS copy unrooted. I return my friends phone, put in my battery and put it on the charger, the phone recognizes the charger, it gives me the small flash logo on the battery icon but the battery meter is not charging.
I'm afraid it's going to stay on until the battery drains to 0 and then i'm back to square one.
At least now i'm unrooted and can check the sony service center if they could do anything.

Check if the port is clean and check the battery pins and pins on your phone.
Do you have the possibility to test another battery? So you can be sure it's not just your battery...
did you have try to let the smartphone shutdown by itselft? and charging the battery after that...
Sounding more and more like a hardware problem. If you have access to a voltmeter, turn your phone off, remove the battery and plug your phone in, check the voltage coming out of the battery terminals in the back. It should be ramping from 1 V to around 3.6 V (at least from the USB port, it might be higher from the wall charger).

thanks for the reply guys, I'm updating the thread so other people might benefit from reading it. I went to Sony service center. The technician first told me there was water damage, although i'm confident that the phone was never dropped in water. Also he showed me that the pins for the battery were bent.
He said he will inspect the motherboard, if it's not corroded (from water) he will replace the motherboard since it's still on warranty.
If it is corroded, he can't do anything.
The strange thing is that the phone is working 100% except i cannot charge it. USB function is working correctly.
PS: Always Unroot and re-lock your bootloader before sending to service, they will check for these and can refuse to serve you by the warranty.

[Q] My ZU wont switch on. Red LED

This morning, my Z ultra died on me. It wont start, no vibration, no use pressing vol + power buttons and the red switch. I was neither rooted or bootloader unlocked.
When I tried to connect it to my laptop (Windows 7), its shows as a USB device. The red LED flashes up, the computer finds it and then lets go of it again. Again in a few minutes, the red LED goes up , the computer makes the connection sound and then the red LED goes off again. This cycle goes on and on.
I cannot use SEUS, Flash, Fastboot or do anything. I have checked various forums and apparently I have not hard bricked the phone as the LED still works and the computer recognizes the problem. But no one has given any concrete solution.
When I connect it to the charger which came with the phone, the red LED pops up and then goes off again. I dont know if its charging. HOWEVER, I have used another Chinese Travel Charger, and then the red LED stays solid as if its charging. I dont know what it means.
Please help. I spent a lot behind this phone. I dont want to be left with a brick
It's not an issue if it's completely stock is it? You have your warranty, but i understand that i sucks to have it shipped in for repairs for god knows how long. I had a similar issue some time ago, but i'm bootloader unlocked and what not, so that was pretty easy to fix. You're completely stock though, so it's a little harder to do anything.
What happens if you hold VOL UP when you connect it to your computer? Does a blue LED light up? If yes, does it stay on, or does it disappear? What happens if you hold VOL DOWN when you connect it to your computer? Do you get a blinking LED and then nothing? That's normal, and it's going into Flashmode. If you can get it to stay in Flashmode you'll be able to re-flash a ROM in Flashtool. But be 100% sure to have enough battery, or else you'll be in danger of hard bricking it.
So..
- Plug the wall charger in and charge it for a couple of hours (2-3 hours)
- Try to kick it into Fastboot (VOL UP when you connect it to your computer). Look for blue LED.
- Try to kick it into Flashmode (VOL DOWN when you connect it yo your computer). No LED.
Hi LordManhattan. I dont have any warranty as I brought it from a local reseller .
Whether I press Vol UP or vom DOWN when I connect to the laptop, a red LED pops up, there is a connection sound and after that the red LED goes off and and there is a disconnection sound.
If I leave the phone connected with the computer, the phone gets connected after 2/3 minutes, there is a connection sound and then there is a disconnection sound again . Any clue what I can do :crying::crying:

just a small note or two:
Flashmode the LED should go orange, then blue then off within about 1second then it is in Flashmode
To get into either of these modes the phone has to be powered fully OFF, press the red reset button before charging to make sure, then again just before the above steps.
It sort of sounds like a corrupted loader

Have a good read of this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
It would suggest that the battery is flat. Let it charge in the wall plug for a few hours and see what happens
I have let the phone to charge overnight with the charger that came with the phone. As I said before, with that charger, the red LED would turn on and then go off again. I will hopefully try the Chinese travel charger tonight with which the red LED remains solid.
The funny thing is , the phone had about 80% charge when it died. This is so weird :'(

Have you tried the reset button under the microsd flap? Press and hold for 3 secs.
I did read another user had an issue where the screen blanked for around a day, he left it plugged in and came back to it about 6 hours later and it was fine again.

I tried that and basically all the other normal options. No use. The computer recognises it as a USB Input Device and for a second or two, the red LED comes up. Same thing when I am charging

Have you tried the reset button under the microsd flap? Press and hold for 3 secs.

It's a battery issue most probably. I guess it doesn't show anything. Is your battery removable?
I still have not opened my phone. I am looking at all the other options first. If everything else fails, I guess I will have to open my phone

I know it isn't the best choice but I would suggest getting it to sony repair. So that your waranty isn't voided (even if you have bought from a local store you still have waranty

Warranty exists with Sony for first year, no matter where it's bought, very true.

+1 contact your local sony, i had a similar problem, no fastboot/flashmode. locked bl/not rooted and my led only flashed red and occasionally solid red then nothing. plugging it into computer continuously played the disconnecting sound.
most likely hardbricked.
i also purchased my xzu from a local BST but as long as you have your imei, contact sony and theyll tell you if you have warranty. they required me to send in proof of purchase as well but like most say "play stupid" ( i said i received it as a gift and they said it was fine)
i got a brand new XZU after a week and a half sending it in.

No LED.

Thank you! One or two years ago my Z Ultra's screen cracked and I got a new phone. Decided to use it again, purchased a new screen and replaced it myself today. When I tried to move to AOSP (had root, bootloader unlocked, backup of TA partition), the phone bricked. No SONY logo, nothing. Did what you said above, Xperia Companion recognized the phone in flashmode and is now downloading the newest stock rom. I was so afraid of a hard brick, that living with latest stock without root doesn't seen so bad now hahaha
Hey Friends, I have exactly the same issue. The red led just flashes up for a couple of seconds and this cycle continues. My battery was a bit swollen up and the back glass cover opened up a bit. Still battery was working fine. Two days ago I tried nougat aosp on it and after leaving it idle for 2 hours, it was bricked. I can enter into flashmode and flashed stock LP as well as KK but it does not boots up. Is it definitely battery's problem? If yes, where can I buy original or near original battery for it?

The battery is dangerous and should be removed. Be careful because the battery can burst into flames if the bloated cell get punctured.
Use tools with caution and take your time.
Lipo cells expands as a first safety trigger. Instead of going strait to venting or venting and burst into flames.
Its a safety feature if they are charged with too high current or if the cell is drained below its 2,22 volts and is brought back to life with a normal charger that puts normal current on the cell. Then even 400mA in this scenario is way too much current to start charging a drained cell with.
But the battery should not be the issue that your phone is not booting. How did you flash stock rom? With Flashtool?

I will wait hours for charging.
Anyway, do you know other solution? It's very strange it's bricked! I didn't flash anything new and cm11 was working well!

Sorry brimbi i can't help you any further than this, i'm not experienced in this field and only started a couple of days ago, this guide explains about soft & hard resets as well as brick symptoms, i hope it helps... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
If you're using cm11 you should be able to boot into recover right?
This happened to me today. Last night I left my phone charging on my PC through the USB port. PC was off, but USB is still powered. Phone was on.
The next morning, after I woke up I noticed that when I pressed the power button nothing happened. I plugged the cable off my PC, then back on, and the led was staying lit up red. Nothing when I pressed the power button again. No fastboot, nothing.
Finally, I plugged the phone using the original Sony adapter to the mains. It showed the Sony logo and it started charging. At least, so I thought. After a couple of hours, I checked the charging progress and nothing, battery was showing empty. So I tried to power the phone on while still charging. It booted Android and it was showing charging, but 0%. I powered the phone back off, it immediately started charging and battery progress was about 80%.
My guess is that somehow battery stats files were corrupted/deleted. Luckily the phone did not get bricked. I am on Android 4.0 ICS.

It seems XSola has issue with this. My previous phone which is Xsola did suffer from this issue multiple times though. On my ex-XU (too) never had this problem and in my current XP i've had once.
