[Q] Replacement Outer Casing/Back Glass - AT&T LG Optimus G

So I dropped my Optimus G and cracked the entire back glass that covers the camera etc. My local cell phone repair place that does good work can do it cheap but their vendor is sold out on the replacement piece. Does anyone have any idea where I could order the part(s) I need to replace it myself? Also does anyone know the proper term for the piece? The front LCD is fine its just the rest of the outer casing. Thanks

Thanks, but it is to replace the all LCD-digitizer-glass and I only want to replace the glass not the LCD and digitizer as they work fine
I would like to know this as well, as I am looking to change my glass screen lens due to a crack.
Anyone else have experience with this kind of thing?
Thanks.

Same problem here, only the glass is cracked. I have a new one, but i dont know how to change it.

cracked but working screen repair

So I bought a Vibrant in excellent condition on craigslist for $40 ... Except the screen glass is cracked.. the phone operates and touch input works just like it should just the glass on the front is broke and spiderwebbed most on the left side and some of the bottom.. I could use it as is and be somewhat satisfied but I noticed on Ebay you can get a new glass lens for $8.00 shipped.. these are from china. Just wanted to get some feedback on difficulty to replace and if anyone here has done this? I watched a vid on youtube but they are assuming the lcd/digitizer/glass needs replacing.. not just the glass. Anyway.. here's the link>>>

To replace just the glass its actually slightly harder than just replacing the digitizer. The steps are the same for the most part. You basically have to go through the extra step of detaching the lens using a heat gun and then attaching the new lens and reassembling everything.

cool.. if you could find it that'd be great.. the lens is gonna be here on tuesday.
removing glass.
I too, ordered the glass.I took apart my vibe and it's damned near impossible to remove the broken glass. I tried using a hairdryer ,but i didn't want to get it so hot that the digitizer gets roasted.Isn't there something that you can spray on,s it loosens it?
I have cracked working display too

Hi , I read your posts and I am hoping you may have found the vid that shows how to remove and separate the glass from the LCD, I have read a couple of posts elswhere stating that it can't be done, but I don't believe that is true. Any help or advice would be great. I have already replaced the SIM/MicroSD Card module so I have taken it apart and put it back together and it is pretty easy to do. But the separating of the glass/LCD has me wondering what I need to know as I have no idea what is in there, such as: glass, digitizer, LCD etc. is the digitizer a separate part from glass and LCD? geez I am wondering if I should have spent $90 on the assembly (don't have it at this time, I on disability and am broke so I thought I could try the glass only route) Well, if you could give me some direction or advice I'd appreciate it.:fingers-crossed:
DO NOT REMOVE JUST THE SCREEN. Me and my father did a lot of research on it because my screen is cracked. the company that assembles the glass has a special matching to put the glass and digitizer together. A digitizer pack is around 90 dollars and that is the easiest and safest way to replace the broken screen without harming the digitizer

Titan cracked screen

A friend of mine has an ATT Titan (phone says PI39100) with a cracked front glass. I was looking to purchase a new front lens/digitizer for her phone and do the replacement. Most of what I find online are for the x310e.
Long question short: is the front lens for the x310e the same exact one as for the PI39100? or are the two not compatible?
Also, if someone can point to a DIY for doing this I'd appreciate it - otherwise, i'll take on it the same as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 I did earlier this week (using a hair dryer and an exacto knife) I would like to at least know the lens is the same so I can order soon.
Thanks in advance.
The screens are the same. The only difference will be that the new screen will have the HTC-Brand name instead of AT&T. Is it just the glass cover that's broken or is the whole touch screen? You can either replace just the glass cover or the entire touch screen. At least that is what I understand because I've seen both parts offered separately.
Regarding the DIY replacement have a look here:

Hope this helps.

Excellent. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you VERY much for your assistance
Oh, and it's the glass cover that's broken, because she's still able to (and currently continues to) use the phone. On ebay, I've seen the glass and digitizer going for under $30 shipped, so I think it's reasonable enough.
Thanks again. :good:
Glad to help. That's we are all here for: help each other.

[Q] Replacement Part Help

As you can see, my screen is not functioning properly. I kinda closed the car door on the phone and it dropped on the floor. The outside screen is not cracked. However, the inside seems like it is.
I will try to fix it but not sure what I need to buy. I think I only need to buy a new LCD but I could be wrong. Can someone help with this?

Housing replacement tip.

Hello XDA
So I have a little dilemma here. I recently got a galaxy s5 from a friend and the housing and the glass is shattered but the LCD works fine so I ordered a housing replacement on ebay along with the glass part. but here is the issue of all the tech people that I can find in my neighborhood will fix phones and repair them and sell them no one is willing to put the housing in. but I don't want to take the risk as everybody else on my neighborhood.
So does anyone have a tip or an easier way to do this?

There are YouTube video's that show you exactly how to do this but it's NOT an easy thing.
Be careful and good luck!

Precisely my point those YouTube videos are that of a professional doing it I'm more of a amateur I guess. I fixed my galaxy s4 LCD because that opens from the back. But thats 5 is especially difficult because it opens from the front and trying to replace the housing means your wrist a 40 percent chance of atleast shattering the LCD which cost 150 on its own.
Hard decisions
