Problem:
I want to do a basic root on my HOX+(International), but can only find a boot.img that is for CM10/AOSP, but I really want to try rooting, but keeping everything else stock (for now). The boot.img that I have for CM10/AOSP boots fine, but leaves the phone stuck with Aircraft mode turning off and WiFi turning on. The only internet connection I can get is via USB and through my laptop.
Can anybody point me at a download location for different HOX+
Background:
I've got two phones: a Nexus4 and a HOX+.
The Nexus4 is running CM10.1M2 like a dream except for a couple of really irritating quirks: it keeps switching off the Bluetooth tethering and it absolutely REFUSES to support rSAP for my car satnav.
The plan was to keep the HOX+ as close to stock as possible, so the rSAP developer doesn't just blame CM10.1M2.
rSAP has never worked on any Android phone that I've tried on my car - sadly only on my very old, basic Nokia X3-02!
Can I just use the O2 branded "1.14.401.16" to root it, even though I'm on Vodafone?
I've also found a more recent pack : RUU_ENRC2B_U_JB_45_HTC_Europe_1.17.401.1_Radio_3.1204.168.32_release_299688_signed
Will this be better for my HOX+ UK spec on Vodafone?

I got my HTC G2 (T-Mobile UK) today and so far I'm loving it.
I upgraded it to the latest official ROM for t-mobile which is 2.73.
So, I'm just wondering how I'd go about rooting it? I know there are guides which I'm happy to follow, but it seems to me that T-Mobile put something in their builds which is why we have to wait for new releases for so long.
So what do T-Mobile do to the ROMs? Is it possible for me to put a custom ROM on here? If so, do I lose anything? Do I lose any accessibility to T-Mobile stuff like Internet, MMS ect?
Also, something that's REALLY bugging me is the BT Discovery mode. You can only make it discoverable for 2 minutes. Yeah I've read that once paired with a device then all should be good, but that doesn't seem to be the case with my BT Handsfree CD Player in my car. Previous phones (Including the HTC HD2) allow me to just get into the car and drive away and the devices connect theirselves automatically. However, this is not the case for the G2 and I can only assume that this is due to the discovery mode being off.
So there are my newbie questions. I really don't want to brick my phone so I have to ask before I do anything.

I cant always find a signal or i refuse to pay (spend alot of times in airports) I have looked up how to tether or bluetooth my phone to laptops and all say the same thing. I have to have blackberry manager running on my LAPTOP well I have never seen a driod ver.

I am rather low on the company totem pole and I am trying to stop using the company laptop that weighs 8.2 pounds thats to heavy to drag with me everywhere. I have logmein to access it from afar and not use it but if I am caught in a spot where I cant use my tab to get what I need i will be forced to carry the brick around because they pay for a usb at&t wifi thing. (can that be used?)

I can answer about the USB modem - generally the answer is no (unfortunately). I had a Verizon USB modem that I tried for months to get working, but the problem is that these devices needed both kernel and OS support. Some of the more popular ones overseas were supported on devices like the ZT-180, but even those were few and far betweeen.
I had the same issue with my company but I managed to get a Mifi device to replace the USB modem I had previously. The con is the battery life (just a few hours), but the pro is that it works like any other Wifi router and you can connect up to 5 devices to it.
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tablet back end of August that has now developed the oil slick so I am awaiting that to be repaired. Not at all happy with Currys in the UK about this - and to make matters worse they still have a unit on display with the oil slick problem!
Currently I have a HTC HD2 (WM6.5) and use the data connection of that with my laptop - so obviously I was very frustrated to find I could not do that with the Galaxy without some configuration / modification of the root files - I did come very close to changing the various files - but now I'm glad I did not do that for fear of having Samsung UK say it is no longer under warranty etc
My question is as my phone comes up for renewal - what phone do you recommend that will let me tether it to the tablet using an app or something as I believe it to be possible with an android phone such as the new Galaxy phone - so what is the best way to use the mobile connection of my phone with the Tablet without having to modify ROM / Root etc

I can use itwith my samsung10.1 without any problem.
I did setup my wifi router and bingo
I have an unrooted Galaxy S2. I downloaded Wifi Toggle from the market and can toggle the wifi hotspot (built into the OS) with one touch from my home screen.
Great - that exactly the sort of response I was looking for - I was thinking that Samsung must surely have made both the phone and the tablet compatible........but there again..........
So I bought 26 LG G4 h810 to organise VR Field Trips using Google Expeditions.
At first I managed to connect only 4 of them. I thought it's perhaps a router. This app relies on WiFi P2P btw. So I changed TP-LINK router worth like 60$ to Asus RT-AC 5300 which is quite high-end. Not much changed as yesterday I had trouble connecting even 2 devices together.
This morning I realised that G4s with Android 6.0 //I received 5 of such// are actually stable and work like a charm together. So I thought I finally have a solution - I'll upgrade the rest - flash with kdz through LG UP and I'm good to go. Well I'm not. The 3 upgraded phones act just the same as they did on 5.1.
It's a funny thing really, to see - 7 phones connected - 2 of them on v5.1,
I connect to this wi fi (5ghz btw) another 5.1 device one after the other, and some of the phones disconnect just one of the other 5.1 device in the network, some of them kick out all the 7 phones. As soon as I turn the wifi off on the newly connected 5.1 phone, all the rest connects back on together.
By kick I mean Expeditions app is reconnecting. Sometimes it goes as far as disconnecting wifi completely, but usually it's more like internet becomes unavailable. And that's btw a funny thing, cause Expeditions doesn't rely on internet connection - the router theoretically can be offline - however when the phones get to fight over wifi (when there are 3 android 5.1 LG G4 trying to connect), notification comes up "internet is unavailable" and with that Expeditions connections are lost aswell.
I spend whole days on it since like a week and am slowly getting frustrated so decided to write to ya not only read.
Yesterday I rooted 3 of the 5.1 phones to get rid of AT&T bloatware and unlock hotspots - it didn't change anything.
I think it's some sort of direction, the fact that 6.0 devices work as expected and 5.1 ones not, but the problem is so specific, that I can't really find relevant information online.
I also compared the working and not working phones today with antutu and antutu officer and it seems they are legit. Had doubt as I bought them refurbished from Aliexpress.
The wifi works perfectly on each of them seperately as I updated apps on them and experienced no issues... As long as I updated max 2 devices at the time.
Am thinking of interference of some sort, or like device id conflict or something... Will probably also try to rename the devices maybe something like confuses the router, I don't know. Please help.
Hey all. So I bought a couple of cheap knock off go pros to use for recording various things and the problem I'm having is that I cannot connect to the wifi signal it broadcasts.
The camera puts out a WEP encrypted wifi network which I can only even pick up by putting my device into airplane mode and turning on the wifi radio only. Even when I can find the SSID, it won't stay connected long enough to work. It basically drops the signal immediately.
I have tuned off all the auto connect and disconnect options in advanced wifi and yet it still won't hold the connection.
Anyone have any thoughts on how I can get this to work?
Side note: I have successfully connected to it from a Samsung S7. So I know it can work, just not from my V30

Disable encryption and run it wide open... WEP is a dead protocol and has many problems. It's ridiculously easy to crack, so you might as well just leave it open.
I'm guessing the device can't run simultaneous connections anyway, so if you can connect, you're probably the only device in there anyway. If you're using it as a remote camera, your client will probably always be connected anyway, so you've occupied that one connect port as well.
@schwinn8 Thank you for trying to help me out with this here, however I'm not able to do what your suggesting.
This camera won't let me ditch the password and run it open (why?, I have no idea) I'm really at a loss for why it's not connecting/will stay connected. I have now tried an iPhone, a Samsung, and my older LG G5 and all of these could connect to it with no issue.
I'm due for a full reset on my device, so I'm going to try and see if maybe a clean install allows it to work. (Maybe a module is making it act screwy). I've also lost my Hotpsot capabilities no matter what apns I run and no matter what tether settings I change in the global settings tables. (I actually have hotspot on my plan but it's never worked without me modding settings / apns)
Side note, if anyone is looking for cheap gopro alternative, the one I got is similar to this one, and it was on sale for 17.99 Great features for the price (car mode, wifi control, motion detector,etc) and uses all of the same accessories as a regular gopro. I actually bought 3 so when i lose one or break one I have a back up.

Like I said, WEP is a dead protocol, so it makes sense that older phones would work better, since these protocols are not focused on for modern devices. It's like how a Windows 95 program would probably run great on an old Wiin95 computer, but it may not work at all on Win10.
Sure, the device SHOULD be backwards compatible, but no one is going to bother fixing them.
