[Q] Alcatel One Touch Evo 7 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I have Alcatel One Touch Evo 7 tablet and after updating the software to newer version, it started having problems with the 3g modem - it can detect a network but it won't connect with any. Surrpisingly - whenever I connect with WIFI, the 3G or EDGE icon appears as well and it looks like I was connected to both WiFi and mobile network! I double checked the APN settings and it was working before - now it isn't... Is there some way to downgrade the software or flash it? I don't have a warranty for this tablet.

When you have active wireless connection, the "modem icon" only show signal strength, it's true that E or H depend on "what it hear" but that's all. So if modem get signal from umts it will show umts (even when he is unable to connect because of poor quality), because he thinks that he is connected to the GSM, but he is connected to net threw wireless. (like it have only one connection status for wireless and gsm)
And as for me, my evo7 behave the same way as yours when i have something wrong with APN, so my guess it that you have:
-apn or other settings problem
-signal strength - check your signal and other in settings
-hardware problem - maybe some interference with other components, like gps, wifi, ... (i have evo7 that have good gps but very poor gsm, and my friend bought evo7 that have GSM like a rock, hardly ever lose gsm network, but gps work like hell, sometimes never get fix or lose it all the time)
My question: How did you do software update? I somehow didn't find any room or how to do that.

Looking for a simple status bar mod

Ok... I have been having the most bizarre wifi issue with my HTC One S. I have had this issue before with another phone. So it might not be the phone....it could just be my wireless router.
The problem is that I have no problem whatsoever connecting to wifi... But connecting to wifi, and getting data throughput isn't everything one needs.
When you connect through the wifi, you still need to connect to one or more of the following: (I) the mobile network riding over (or encapsulated in) the TCP packets, (ii) you need to connect to the Google network (or this may just be part of your data connection) in order for G+, gmail, talk, etc. to work.
On a great old CM7 theme I once had, the status bar was SO helpful because while the wifi was connected, I would see the wifi icon fully filled and white. But when it actually connected to the network, it turned blue
I looked around for something like this, but to no avail. Anyone have an idea how to change this or find a mod for it?

[Q] 3g connection problem - won't connect, setting corect (stock ICS)

update: i couldn't connect but i just figured it out: phone won't connect without the "roaming data" setting enabled, even when I'm on its mother 3g network. weird, but it's their problem I assume, I'll just have to watch out near the borders.
worse is that phone allows to use some other operator's network (it's own reception sucks) but when I connect now it switches back to mother network
this wasn't the case on other phone (xperia x1, win mobile) where i could call and use internet with other operator's network on this same operator (play)
another issue is the phone stopped switching home screen to horizontal when turning it. it does in apps and when snapping the keyboard out. or it never was swithing home screen without the keyboard ?
bump

Ignore network extenders

Possible on a rooted 4.2.2 Jellybean Droid Mini to disable all connection to network extenders?
My phone periodically connects to a neighbor's extender and it's actually worse than the normal crappy connection I get from the house.
I'm hoping there is a database setting or some config I can tweak to disable that. I can't believe that they would design these things so that I have no control whatsoever in regards to how my phone connects to the network. This seems like a major security issue to me.

S9+ showing "connected to WLAN, no internet"

So, I got my S9+ (international version, DUOS, 256 GB) last week from the Samsung store. I am on stock ROM (and will stay as long as my warranty lasts or someone finds a way to root with Knox 0x0, which I am not expecting).
At home, I have a WLAN Mesh (AVM Fritz!Box 6590 Cable, 2x AVM Fritz! 1750E Repeater on a wired connection), everything working great with any device.
Except my S9+. It connects and everything is fine, at some point - especially when using it for e.g. streaming Netflix or so - it will stay connected to the WLAN but will say "no internet access". Switching WLAN on and off fixes the issue until it happens the next time (minutes to hours later). I have no special settings, no neighbouring networks which would interfere. I have 2,4 and 5 GHz active and automatic channel selection. All other devices in my home work with no problems. I have found similar issues froim users on other Samsung phones (S6/7/8 series (my former S5 on Resurrection Remix Oreo does not show t his behaviour)), but no answers that worked (like forget the network, reboot and reenter credentials).
Quite annoying, anyone knows a fix? Big THANKS in advance.
No one experiencing the same thing or havin any ideas?
I have had the same issue in the beginning with the phone. I have a router with a cisco switch connected to it. The standard router's wifi wasn't sufficient in coverage through my house. I got hold of a cisco AP and connected it to the switch and disabled the wifi on the router. That's when my issue started. Fiddled around trying various options, but the one that worked for me was to tell the phone to forget my network, restart the phone and then "setup" the wifi on the phone again(password for wifi needed to be entered as it sees the network as a new one) Haven't had the issue after that. I did notice at my office that even though the wifi conection is good, that if it goes below a certain percentage, the mobile data will kick in, although I have that option switched off. I also picked up that if your line connection's speed goes very low for whatever reason, the same problem appears again that the phone assumes there is no internet
Thanks, this is what I've read from other threads (with S7, S8), too. But this didn't work for me. My repeaters get ther signal through LAN cable and I have a fast connection, coverage all over my house and garden. I really do not have an idea on what to try...

Tab S6 Wifi problems / Detects only a few or no wifi networks at all

As title says, just bought the device and it only picks up like 1 or 2 networks (not always) from like 10 available ones when I am at home. However, this problem is really apparent in my college dorms as I can't pick up any wifi network whatsoever making my tablet practically useless in dorms. Is this a software problem? or a hardware one? When I was at my home I was able to find my home network easily (but then again, it still didn't show up all the networks that shows on my phone)
p.s : Hotspot networks always show up in the wifi list, but when I switch the hotspot from using Data to using the WiFi the hotspot phone is connected to it disappears from the list
p.s.s : the tablet is running the latest update available for me (November 2019 / T860XXS1ASK2)
p.s.s.s : tried wiping cache and even hard formatting the device.
p.s.s.s.s : Its the Wifi only variant
