How do i turn on 3g and 4g for my ptel mobile? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I have the galaxy note i717 and it is unlocked to my ptel mobile and they support 3g and 4g coverage in my area they also gave me their apn setting but all im stuck on is edge and the speeds suck can anyone help me i would really like to atleast use 3g thanks

With your vague profile I cannot guess what country/region you are in, so I am guessing your network uses different frequencies that the stock modem recognizes. If you could reveal the frequencies I would be happy to steer you to a more appropriate modem.

Hey im from the united states i live im massachusetts near boston if you could help me that would be great thanks

Hahaha, I guessed Philippines or Nepal.
PTel is a pay as you go plan, so first you have to buy some credit.
Then you have to activate your phone, and I'm sure those instructions will be given when you buy credit. Get at least a gigabyte to start.
Then you have to create an APN, access point name, to get on the data network:
Go to Settings
Go to Mobile Network
Go to Access Point Name
Press menu and select “New APN”
Enter the following settings (case sensitive):
a. Name:
PTEL Mobile
b. APN:
wholesale
c. Proxy:
<blank>
d. Port:
<blank>
e. Username:
<blank>
f. Server:
<blank>
g. MMSC:
http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
h. MMS Proxy:
<blank>
i. MMS Port:
<blank>
j. Authentication Type: <blank>
k. APN Type:
blank, or internet and MMS
7. Press menu and select “Save”
8. Make sure you select the PTEL Mobile profile you just created
9. Restart your phone

[Q] HELP Need APN settings for AT&T Tab 10.1

So--went to AT&T today to get data plan for my Tab 10.1. They played with the thing for an hour and told me that the tablet was probably an "overseas" tablet and would not recognize their SIM card.
Called people I got it from (vendor with Amazon in NYC) who assured me that all I needed was the proper APN settings. Been searching net all day and tried about 5 versions with no joy.
Does anybody here have their Tab 10.1 set up with AT&T? AT&T told me that since they don't sell that model they are unsure of settings. I can get the thing to work with WIFI and settings for EDGE.
Any help is appreciated.
Solved!! No 3g connection on tab 10.1

OK---After extensive internet research, turns out that I am not the only one with this problem. I've been back to the AT&T store 3X with 3 different techs working on the tab with no joy! I could get "edge" (2G) and wifi but not 3G.
For others having this problem, here is what U need to do.
First, check ur APN settings. Here is what worked for my GT-P7500.

That's it!
WOW----over 330 people looked at this and none of them uses AT&T.
Sweet it worked for me. Thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the info! Was wondering how the **** to get my Mobile share plan working with the 10-20$ addon for my Dell Streak 7. It just wouldnt connect till I used the APN settings above.
Now if I could only get it to text message..
This worked for my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000

This worked!! I had worked with At&t guys at a store, then called customer service, and finally called customer service back and a tech informed me of this site and I found the APN settings and entered them. They worked, but the tech also corrected something on his side, a "provision" he set to be "try" as it was set for 2G/3G and needed to be changed so that I could get the 4G (hsdpa+) working. I originally had an APN named Cingular 410 on the tablet, and it was also set to wap.cingular with a bunch of other settings that I think are used for phones. The reset 3G trick also helped (tap GSM only, then tap GSM/WCDMA auto) as I wasn't sure if my earlier troubleshooting was actually taking effect.
THANK YOU!!!
Wow I have tried everything... I posted on 15 plus forums, read countless posts saying it was not possible. NOT true! thank you for taking the time to post your efforts.

Here is an interesting development... I flashed CyanogenMod 10 on my Sony Xperia arc S phone and the ROM downloaded some settings by itself. There are 3 APNs that comes with this ROM.
1. ATT
2. ATT LTE
3. StraightTalk ATT
StraightTalk was picked by default. I was about to delete them all and enter the settings from here but then I received a text message from a friend... Lo and behold, it was a MMS message with a pic attached and already downloaded. I saw that my WiFi was on, so I turned off the WiFi and asked my friend to send me more pics... They all arrived including a video snippet.... Then I sent one, a larger pic, and he received it. All amazed I fired up the CM10's browser and went to www.testmy.net Did a smarttest and my download was 3.4 Mbps and upload was 577 Kbps... In Phoenix, AZ...
Here are the settings that came with CM10 ...

That's the settings I use for straight talk, works great. I get 4g just about everywhere here in pa. Mms works great too. I've had straight talk for a year and a half on at&t. Can't complain. If you use alot of cell data they will throttle you slow, but I'm usually close to wifi. I've heard 2GB then they slow you down.

I'm getting 1.3Mbps down and 657 Kbps up. Pretty happy with it.
To the last poster, I thought Straight Talk didn't offer LTE coverage?! If it did, it'd be an even more amazing deal than I had thought it was!
My data works fine. Got like 6mbps this morn but my MMS wont send for ****. Using an Xperia Ion
Pantech Pocket ATT - Straight Talk MMS Settings
The Pantech Pocket needs to have the Straight Talk APN data loaded to TWO locations.
Both Phone APN and Wap APN need to be setup with the Straight Talk APN settings.
Straight Talk makes it sound like you only need to enter the information in one location.
You need to enter the information in Phone APN and Wap APN, if you want MMS to work!
APN name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Straight Talk value
Port: 80
MMSC: Straight Talk value
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
My Pantech Pocket is running flawlessly on Straight Talk now. MMS is 100% functional. The pictures are getting through. I'm getting 5Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed.
My Pantech burst uses only one apn. On gingerbread and ice cream sandwich. I don't run proxy but the rest of the settings I put in and works good. Seems faster tried it. 40kbps proxy vs 4000kbps no proxy. Not sure why. Any ideas?

HOLY SH!T!!!
I just put in the settings Bushmaster78FS posted and I am now on TRUE 4G with ST. 6Mbps!!! ITS FASTER THAN MY WORKS WIFI BY 3X!!!
AMAZING!!! THANKS BUSHMASTER!
Nice
Thanks for the settings you posted Bushmaster.
The settings provided are the first ones I have used and successfully got both data and mms working with only one APN.
Using Samsung Galaxy S III.
1. My phone is unocked and compatible on both AT&T networks and T-Mobile right now i am using an blue AT&T sim and i am thinking to make the move to T-Mobile network. Do you think i can use the same AT&T compatible sim and just change the APN setting to T-Mobile and have it work on the T-Mobile network or so i have to buy a sim?
2. I heard that you can get a free sim by buying a free phone and just using it on your phone but other people say that those sims are lock to those phones. Which is true?
3. I see that Straight talk sells cheap GSM phones and my GF has her phone on T-Mobile so can i buy one of the ST phones and swap it to use on T-Mobile or are the locked and can they be unlocked?
I just switched from the default straight talk apn to the ones bushmaster posted. I went from 1 mbps to 4.8 on a Nexus 4.

anyone try these settings on S2 i9100 and see speed gains?
APN set, no data.
Hey gang, I've looked far-and-wide and haven't been able to locate a solution so, I throw myself on y'all's mercy and ask if anyone has a clue why I can't receive wireless data on my SGT AT&T GT-P1000.
I received my AT&T Straight Talk SIM the other day and porting the phone over was no issue. However, when I set up the APN I did not immediately reboot the phone due to some confusion about when the service actually transferred. Could this have affected my registration on the ST wireless network?
I've entered the APN settings precisely but, alas, still cannot connect to the wireless data. I really want to move over to ST, not only will it save me $30 a month whilst adding an "unlimited" data plan but, best of all, I'll get to tell AT&T to go pound sand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
did you add in the " http://"?
Does anybody now any way to unthrotte. Since we all now that ST throttle after 5gb. I called to ST customers service, they told me that unlimited data is only for navigation.

Using Rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 In Hong Kong & Thailand?

I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 which I purchase May 30, 2013. I am going to Hong Kong and Thailand next month and would like to add a sim card that I will purchase in each of these countries, to get both talk and data. My phone is rooted already. I found a post online that mentioned somebody had been able to do this since Verizon Phones 4G phones are unlocked, but I never found anything definitive. I am not sure if this is correct but I am trying to confirm. I went into my phone and found where to actually manually enter an APN. Right now it is set to VZWINTERNET. Would I just replace this with the APN of the carrier I want to use?
Entering Access point name information manually: google "APN for thailand carrier" and then enter it.
Settings > Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
I have a VZ S4 and am visiting the other countries. I'm in Singapore now and will be heading to Vietnam and Thailand. So far I just bought a Sim prepaid card here and the sales rep activated in and inputted the APN info for me. Works like a charm. Phone and data. Too bad data is 3g as they don't offer 4g prepaid. I'll be doing the same in Vietnam and Thailand. Im with a group and we only bought 1 sim and uses my rooted S4 as a WiFi hotspot for everyone else to use

I found that once you get into the APN menu then you click the lower left corner of the S4 and then brings up the "Add new APN" option however it is grayed out. I assume you have to enter a new Sim, and then it will give the option to change this.

Once you put the international Sim into the phone it will not be gray. It will work, no issues. The sales Rep has the info to input for the carrier. But if you are Thailand, go with AIS

US AT&T iPhone 5 SIM on Omate TS, Voice is good but data not working

Hi All,
Device: 1900 1/8 TrueSmart (US)
ROM/Firmware version: (stock)
Baseband: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V4.P1, 2013/11/09 14:19 (stock)
Changes made to stock firmware: Framaroot + Play Store apk installed
What OS is on your PC if your PC was used: N/A
Issue: I took my US AT&T iPhone 5 SIM (with a nano to micro adaptor) on Omate TS. The voice call is clear and no problem at all. TS recognized the phone number right after a reboot. However there's no data connection.
Steps Taken:
The Wireless & Network/SIM management/Data connection shows ATT.
The Wireless & Network/SIM management/More/Mobile Network/ shows
1. Data connection: ATT
2. 3G service: Enable 3G/ ATT
3. The APN is correctly generated
4. Network operator: Manual or Auto, it will only let me choice the ATT 3G.
However it won't connect any data.
in Setting/System/About TrueSmart/Status/SIM Staus
Mobile network state is "Disconnected"
I tried another SIM (US AT&T iPhone 5S), same result. I read in the other tread someone mentioned that the US AT&T iPhone will lock to IMEI, but those 2 SIM is swappable between my 5 and 5S...
Any idea? Thanks in advance.

I can say this. I'm on NET10 AT&T and unless I programmed the APN manually it never worked. That's why I replaced Omate's APN list in the Patch/MOD and it worked with no issues.
ATT HSPA+ works

Thanks Lokifish! Confirmed that ATT HSPA+ profile works for my case (figured out that iPhone 5/5S are on 4G network - duh). The reception for data is not as good as the same sim is in an iPhone. Sometimes I have to go near a window to get connected (don't need that for iPhone in my house). The speed... is much slower of course. I got the best 1.55/0.45 Mbps d/u 87ms vs 22.33/7.64, 17ms on WIFI. vs best 21.33/7.67 17ms on LTE iPhone.
The TS gets very warm using wireless data btw. But it's a good start I can finally try to run with it and test gps and fitness apps!
BTW the voice call quality is good. I was worried before from the what I heard in Chinese Omate forum. But now I believe that they fixed the mic feedback issue at least start from the US 1/8 version.
Anyway hope this post can help people use the same setup as me too!

Thanks Lokifish! Confirmed that ATT HSPA+ profile works for my case (figured out that iPhone 5/5S are on 4G network - duh). The reception for data is not as good as the same sim is in an iPhone. Hi guys, Great posts about ATT. So i have a question. I have an aio wireless sim(AIO is owned by ATT) and I am able to get voice service working but not data. I am guessing its the APN settings being guessed incorrectly because the TS things the SIM is an ATT sim when it is inserted. I try to go to APN setting on the phone but the screen is blank and doesnt allow me to edit the settings. I need help in figuring out how to change the APN settings for my TS . Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Chale
Run the patch and all this APN nonsense melts away for almost every carrier world wide.

Hi Lokifish. Thank you for the quick response. I did run the patch and it didnt fix it for me. I can now see the apn screen title but there is no content underneath it or any form to enter apn settings. Are you the one who is maintaining the apn settings list? I can send you the APN settings for AIO wireless if you don't have them. I am excited to finally have my TS but its been frustrating trying to get data working on it. Thanks in advance for your help.
Just for reference here is the APN settings for AIO
Enter the following APN info:
Name: Internet
APN: ndo
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http: mmsc.aiowireless.net MMS Proxy: proxy.aiowireless.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 150
Authentication type: Not Set APN type: default, mms, fota, hipri, supl
Note: on the above APN type be sure to enter it exactly as it is listed...don't include any spaces!
This was referenced from AIO's website

Hi Lokifish,
I didn't know if you had a chance to view my response but wanted to see what your thoughts are and see if you might be able to add AIO into your MVNO APN list that you have built for your patch.
Thanks in advance,
Chale
Sorry, been really busy. You can add an APN by doing the following;
Go to Settings> More> Mobile Networks> Access Point Names
Swipe from left to right to pull up the menu
Select "New APN"
Fill out the needed fields
Swipe from left to right to pull up the menu
Select "Save"
I'll update the patch when I get the time.

Hi, are you refering to the mod patch/ status bar? from the general page?
No. I was referring to the EnSec patch which is no longer available and was never updated for the new EU 2100 hardware.
One of the nice things Lokifish had added in to the EnSec patch was a large number of APN settings for carriers that Omate did not bother including.

T mobile USA - Connecting Problem

I have tmobile when inserted the simcard in my z2 I've noticed that I'm not getting any internet connection so i went to Setting/wireless and networks/internet setting and downloaded all the files then I went to mobile netword and changed it to 4G Tmobile, starting that day I keep losing connection every time I have to go to mobile network and change it manually although it's set on automatic, most of teh times 4g doesn't work and I have to set it to 3g... it's really annoying
In your dial pad type in *#*#info#*#* (numbers for info)
Go to phone info
Scroll down
Select prefered network mode
Select LTE or an option for local with
Go back to your network settings and see if 4G shows up
If not change your mode back to what it was before and call tmobile because they may have to sort some issues out for you
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
now whatever I'm doing I can't get data connection

go to your network settings, when tmobile USA shows up with 4G click it to register, once thats done, go back a menu and click on network mode and change it to LTE/HSPDA/GSM (or what ever bands are used in USA)
you should have data connection but 4G depends on how good Tmobile USA Coverage is
You may need to call TMo and ask them to do whatever they do in the backend to reset the phone to network connection. Another thing is to look at TMo support site for the correct APN settings. In my case, data was perfect but MMS would not work because the phone settings were incorrect. Basically, call TMo. They will even email you the settings.
One last thing. Try airplane mode off then on and see it that helps.

One thing I would do, is to call T-Mobile and register the IMEI so they can provision the unit. The settings on their end may have something which is preventing it to connect to it based on a previous phone's capabilities.
-----------------
I had something similar similar but it was with AT&T. In my case, it would not connect to LTE at all as it would stick on HPSA. This was because I had a S3 (UK version), which was only capable of HSPA+, and I had registered the IMEI with them prior.
I had a lot of problems getting my Z2 to work on T-Mobile as well. I finally used the following settings to get everything to work.
Create 2 APNs, the first should have the Following Settings:
Name: T-Mobile
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/
MMS proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: defaul,supl,admin,dun,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Now create a second APN with the following settings:
Name: T-Mobile GPRS
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
With both of those created, go to your list of APNs and make sure your first one (T-Mobile) is selected.
These settings fixed my problems, hope you get it worked out.

I had a similar issue, is that why my phone doesn't have signal with tmobile cause I have to register the IMEI?

It is likely, make sure the internet/mms settings are downloaded too.
Once the IMEI is registered, they will able to see what phone it is and enable the proper features which the phone is capable of.
I heard it's best to let them know as the IMEI as well because they could flag the unauthorized phones and reject it from being connected the carrier.
