G-Harmony Jellybean 4.1.2 ODEXed - No Camera - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

G-Harmony Jellybean 4.1.2 ODEXed,
awesome rom, everytime, I click on the camera app, I get an error mesage stating the Gallery is closed, I didnt see any camera related issues posted in the development thread, so seeking help here.

The front-facing camera on the gTablet is not fully supported on any of the ROMs past Froyo. It is a known problem.
However, if you have a spare USB webcam lying around, then you can use that via the library (only for Android JB 4.x) in this thread. The USB webcam should then act like a rear-facing camera in all the standard apps.

Thanks for the heads up, I've used about a dozen roms from this site, settling for the Stock w/ enhancement pack since I was a die hard hold out because I loved the dashboard app, I've finally starting trying new roms again because I was sick & tired of not being able to get any new apps from the app market. or having to side load everything thank you, I had not realized that was a common problem.
Other than that, the Rom rocks!

Rom with working flash , market , camera - please help

OK,
so i think i install every possible Rom on my gtablet , but cant find one with , all those elements working together .
im just end user with some knowledge of stuff , but not enough to claim to be developer .
please help me to find Rom with those elements working together :
flash
Netflix
market
camera
thanks , hope somebody can help
Brilliant corners I think!
Sent from my Flashback HC-TAB using XDA Forum App
Vegan Ginger had that until some of the newer market updates broke them. Who knows if either the ROM has updated with a fix, or there have been more market fixes which changed things.
I decided the camera wasn't important to me (I find the g-tab camera to be worthless anyhow unless you sykpe or other video chat).
I switched ROMs because a working market was more important than my camera (but I agree Flash is a priority as well!)
i like these roms
Vegan Ginger Edition (the newest one) works for me flash apps and browser, camera (not video capture but pictures) {there is no working video chat apps for our tab anyway..yet} I have not tried netflix but am pretty sure it works. and I have had no problems at all with the market however I found a newer market that my tab seems to really like (no market fixes required just a cwr zip.)
I will PM you with all the links

Erm...skype video chat works now.
At least on my TNT Lite 4.4
My 2 cents
I've been using the Vegan Ginger Edition, the newest one and it all works. Netflix, Flash, Camera, etc. My only issue is the audio is not as loud as it is on Flashback or GtabComb. But I pair it to a little bluetooth speaker I picked up and it's great for wacthing Netflix with.

Everything works, no messing around to get stuff working. Plus it is so fast that you need to fasten your seat belt before booting into it or you may get blown out of your chair.
You will need to first flash to a 1.2 bootloader if you are not already there.
No kidding, try it yourself and see.

[Q] Samsung Camera on AOSP/CM10?

Hi guys,
I have used CM9 for a long long time on my SGS1 and the battery was amazing.
When I got my i9300 some months ago, i tried CM9 as soon as it was made available.
Soon I returned to a Samsung based ROM for one reason: the camera application.
Now I know that a project was started to bring some of the functionality to AOSP based roms here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746611
Still the HDR functionality is missing and to be honest I simply would like the Samsung camera to work on CM10.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Samsung's camera needs the Touchwiz framework to operate, since all these apps and system modifications are heavily interdependant and cannot be individually moved around.
There should be enough other camera applications in Play Store, are there really NONE you like?
Should be able to port it if you want to take the time. Just make sure you have updated things to work with! How to port!
i am not sure if you noticed that while on CM10, the pictures and video playback quality is not as good as the stock gallery and stock player.
The pictures and videos seemed to have more noise on them.

Have you used the Samsung camera with that phone? It is amazing, and no pixel fuzz, and HDR and panorama, etc etc. It really is the best camera app.
If you really want it, I've made a package including the latest Samsung JB Camera app and the TouchWiz framework. It's not tested but uses the same principle as the Samsung Apps for CM10, so it might work. As always, backup first, then flash the zip with CMW. You can get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c7g9v8pup1x7r8j. Let me know if it works.

I flashed it and nothing happened. I don't see any camera app after the installation
I flashed it and with the new framework it say Optimizing apps.. so I take it, my install is goofy now with TW crap and it seems to be running with twice as much current..
Anyways no camera install, if I add the apk it just wont install, and not sure if it is because of CM10 mmqualcommcamera as kernel process..
But Samsung apps works.

[Q] Google dialer & Gallery

Hi Everyone,
I am on Omega rom and it's pretty nice. But, like every Samsung based rom, there are some things that bother me, the main thing is the lag when opening the dialer and the gallery. It can take sometimes up to 3 seconds for these apps to open when they haven't be launched in a while. Since the CM10 based rom still have some bugs which are crucial to me (no wifi & bluetooth tethering), I am sticking with the Samsung based roms.
My questions are:
1. Is there a way to flash the original AOSP dialer and gallery?
if there isn't,
2. Is there a way to prevent the dialer & gallery from closing?
Thanks a lot, I really hope someone can offer some good advice here.

i dont know the answers to your 2 questions.. but bluetooth tethering does work on CM10 based roms. wifi tethering is broken but wifi itself works just fine.
Yeah, I just saw that BT tethering is finally working, but wifi tethering is still broken... and I use that pretty often...

[Q] Want to switch to a custom rom but there are some peoblems

Greetings everybody,
As the title suggests, I want to switch to using a custom rom as my daily driver,
First I like the stock android look better than touchwiz's, and having the ability to tweak my phone to my liking is tempting.
But there are a few things holding me back from doing that, I've tried using AOKP 4.2.2 ROM a few days ago but went back to the factory setup immediately after for a few reasons:
1- Camera's auto-focus has gotten slow and faulty, and the quality of the images worsened.
2- I couldn't sync facebook with my contacts (profile pictures show on contacts).
3- Many apps that came built in with samsung's touchwiz were removed and I had to download similar ones from the play store (music player, fm radio, file browser etc... I also found that setting up my ringtone is a bit fiddly.
If somebody could help me find a way to address some of these problems that's be very much appreciated.
Thanks in a advance!
I'm sorry I'm gonna post it on Q&A, just delete it from here.

Quality of images can't be solved, but auto focus is solved in the recent nightlies
Use haxsync or uber sync for fb contacts
The samsung apps need the framework (touchwiz) and will not work on AOSP

Use touchwiz based roms , you ll have the exact same stock look and feel and better performance , the apps you wanted will be present in them and they will mostly be stable , so you wont have any problems , plus you ll have root so you can do all the tweaking you wanted and are interested in
Go to this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2220154 - look at roms under samsung base Enjoy! Welcome to Rooting , Youre never going back !
I had the same thing but I just kept flashing roms to see wich I like best. Seems sotmax seems ok for now im just waitin for a 4.2 rom wich does not drain my battery while I setup my phone and apps. (I found out if I read properly it might be kernel related and that there is no official good kernel for the 4.2 android.)

LiquidSmooth v3.0 Beta

I'm running LiquidSmooth v3.0 Beta (LS-KK-v3.0-2014-02-13-dlx) on my Verizon DNA and I'm pretty happy with it. Big thanks to deadman96385, santod040, and anyone else who contributed to this project!
This is the first custom ROM I've run as a "daily driver" on my DNA after ~16 months on the stock ROM, so most of my impressions are in comparison with the most recent stock HTC software. I briefly tried CyanFox but switched back to stock. I also tried the "HTC One *STOCK* ROM Port" (DLX_WL_K442_SENSE55_MR_4.19.401.8) but couldn't get it to boot; actually flashing it messed up my recovery as well. I suspect maybe my download was corrupted since other people reported success with that ROM.
Back to LiquidSmooth:
- Perceived performance is generally pretty solid. It's mostly very smooth, living up to its name.
- I do get the occasional app crash (FC); haven't noticed a pattern yet. It's not frequent enough to bother me much.
- A few times I have had the phone become unresponsive when opening the recent apps view or when trying to unlock from the lock screen. But this hasn't happened in a few days. Could be the freezing was related to one of the features I tried and later disabled (see below), or just due to the ROM "settling in" (populating caches, etc.)
- Love KitKat and the add-on features:
- I'm using the "pie control" for quick access to apps, quick screen off, menu access, etc.
- I tried HALO and couldn't really figure it out / didn't find it useful.
- I like the idea of Active Display but it didn't work that well in combination with the way I use the lock screen, so I turned it off and use the lock screen's built-in active display features instead.
- I'm using the default Google Now launcher for the moment. I like the easy access to voice search and google now. Don't like that it doesn't have multi-touch for dragging icons between home screens.
I think the battery is draining faster than with the stock ROM, though it's hard to say because I've also been using the phone a lot more actively while I get it set up and configured the way I want. It may be that the active display feature of the lockscreen is using more power?
People in the development forum mention an over-the-air (OTA) update mechanism; I haven't been able to find that yet.
There's a new version posted called 03-05-14; I haven't tried that version yet.
Anyway, I'm quite happy with this ROM and imagine I'll stick with it for a while. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, fast, stable ROM, and in particular to anyone freshly rooted and looking for a solid ROM to try out KitKat and get a lot of great new features.
(note—maybe it would have made more sense to put this directly in the existing LiquidSmooth development thread, but I don't have permission to post there. And I'm not developing the ROM, just using it.)
Thanks again! Great ROM.
How much did they pay you? LOL
I tried it as well as all of the other KK AOSP ROMS. I really like AOSP.
I was on stock until viperDNA 2.0 came out, then I decided to S=OFF/ROOT/etc... and plugged Viperware in. It was awesome. Not an issue ever. So I wanted to give 3.0 a try, after trying every ROM out there (actually it kinda became like crack to me LOL).
So far after several days, it's 5x5, not an issue at all. On my phone, only the Viperware works as advertised.
That's not to say that Viperware doesn't have its issues, but I just haven't seen any yet. As I said I really like AOSP, but because Viperware uses Aroma installer, I can delete almost everything - which gives it a kind of AOSPishy look/feel.
My sig hits it; these developers (ALL of them) are amazing and do all of this for US on their own time for FREE. If I were a kagillionaire, I'd employ you ALL.
Hah! Thanks Yehuda. I started this thread because I wish there were more ROM reviews here on xda, since I don't really have time to try out every ROM. I appreciate your review of ViperDNA; maybe I'll try that next.
Update on LiquidSmooth: after a week or so I found that it wasn't as clean as I originally thought and went back to (rooted) stock for a while.
