I'm gonna ask the obvious question here: Are you plugging your phone directly into a USB port i.e. not through a hub? Preferably one in the back of the motherboard. Highly suggest that it be one that was originally meant for your keyboard/mouse. On my motherboard, I find that cell phones work best for adb/fastboot when plugged into a "pink" USB port as opposed to a blue USB3.0 or normal USB2.0
EDIT: Oh, you're on a laptop. I got nothin' then, sorry mate. I'm going to leave my post up just in case some one else wanders in here.

Not fastboot as in the command line interface.
Fast Boot under Power Management inside Android OS--it basically puts the phone into superdeep hibernate mode instead of turning it off when you push the Power Off button.

Oh okay he did say fastboot as in the command interface.

Most likely the usb3 drivers. I think there are some Intel drivers posted somewhere that will work.
This should work:

Android Driver error

Has anyone had any issues getting the adb drivers to work on Windows 7 64bit?
I've downloaded every single htc drivers I can find and I have updated my android sdk drivers and nothing. Does any one have a suggestion or maybe a fix.
Thanks

yes i had issues.. how did i fix it i cant remember its workable tho.. i think i might of gone into device manager when the phones plugged in and deleted all references to the phone, unplugged it and rebooted computer and started over.
Aside from the drivers do you have htc sync installed? that's what I needed on my work computer to get it to detect with adb.
do you have trouble with adb as well as fastboot or just fastboot?

Yeah I have HTC sync installed. I work with phones so I have many different Androids that are constantly plugged into my computer. They all work including HTC Evos, Evo 3D, Evo LTE's, etc...
Its just my personal Amaze 4G that I can't get to work. I've tried so many drivers with no luck.
@Other post, When you say delete all references can you tell me what steps you took please?
Thank you all again.
Well I sold it and bought the Galaxy S2 again.
Thanks

have you tried placing the unlock token from email into fastboot. where you would usually do fastboot commands? i had to do that in order for it to unlock again
Yep, I've used the htcdev method on my 3vo, so I know how to do it, it just doesn't want to work

are you sure you have the command properly? therefore: "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" without the quotes?
Yep, I'm not a noob, by far. I've developed 3 roms, so I know what I'm doing, I just need to know why the code isn't sending to the phone, I've installed all the proper drivers, followed each step exactly, it just doesn't want to send the code. My guess is that there's something on the phone preventing the code from transferring over. Sorry if I sounded kinda douchey, my friend is kinda riding my ass about this, so I'm kinda getting a little frustrated

If I didn't have USB debugging enabled I wouldn't have gotten the identifier code to get the unlock token, so its obviously on

Just because you're developed 3 ROMs doesn't mean you can't show a little manners when asking for help. Nor does it mean you didn't miss a basic step: working in IT for years has taught me that even somebody who knows what they're doing can miss something sometimes.

I know, I apologize if I sounded like an ass, I'm just getting impatient with him and I'm redirecting it towards you guys, which I shouldn't be doing, so again, I apologize. I triple checked USB Debugging, and still can't figure this out.. I ran the adb devices command, and his device didn't pop up, yet every other command (adb reboot bootloader, fastboot oem get_identifier_token) succeeded just fine. I'm confused with that, I think it might have to do with the problem, but again I could be wrong. I started over from step 1 twice, and it still didn't work. It's either my computer (which I doubt, it works fine with my phone) or his phone at this point.

Try uninstalling the drivers for the phone and get the latest drivers from HTC Sync.
If that doesn't work, try either a different computer, or if you have another OS installed on your computer (dual booting Windows / Linux), boot into the other one and try using ADB on that.

Pc doesn't detect my fascinate

Hello I just got a Samsung fascinate from a friend of mine... I went to go root it but my pc doesn't even recognize it. Doesn't even know it's plugged in. It charges but doesn't let me see it in adb, connect as mass storage and yes I have Samsung usb drivers installed and I have kies. Nothing has worked. Can anyone help me with this ish problem or tell me how to root it without my pc? Thanks

That's odd. Do you have any other PCs you could try? Maybe ones with different operating systems? Try uninstalling and re-installing the Samsung drivers and use an older version of Odin. I'm not sure what else to say other than maybe the usb connector is damaged somehow on the phone itself

Maybe you should try cleaning the usb port on the phone with canned air. This fixed my dad's Fascinate when nothing else would.

Need help: Think I'm bricked

Well, I do believe my Droid DNA is bricked, soft or hard, I'm not sure because the only thing I can enter is the fastboot menu.
So, I've been trying to run the RUU.exe but it just sits there on the sending screen. Tried a couple of times. Literally waited for hours to see if the RUU would finish but it only finishes when the DNA battery gives out. So, I'm not sure what to do.
I believe it it either one of 3 things (but i could be wrong on all 3 accounts) :
1) Drivers not installed correctly. When running adb reboot fastboot command, it doesn't recognize device. I know that could also mean that the USB Debugging isnt on, but it should be. Can't really go into it to check, but it was on before DNA bricked.
2) Something wrong with the physical phone (software or hardware wise idk) or
3) The Android sdk stuff dled, but i doubt that. I used a DNA tool, not Hasoon2000's tool but another one, and when i tried to do a command, the fastboot.exe stopped respoinding.
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 : just putting that out there.
Thanks for looking and any help you can offer.

How did you brick your phone? Did your phone ever update to 2.04 or 2.06? The ruu only works on 1.15 or if you can install the eng hboot and downgrade from 2.xx to 1.15 and then ruu will work.
Well problem solved and thanks for all your help.
All I did was change the usb cable and that did it. Sadly, I wish is thought if it sooner.

The exact technicality of switching usb and it effecting the RUU, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can inform u with that info.
As for the usb, I used a Samsung Brightside 2 usb. Didn't have the DNA one. All I can say is this: Make sure you are on Windows 7 or earlier and try switching usb cables.

[Q] Help on Moonshine root method

Any help?
Are you using USB 2.0 ports? I had the same issue on my laptop trying to use USB 3.0 ports. Switched to a laptop with 2.0 ports and it worked fine. Other than that, make sure your drivers are up to date and HTC Sync is completely uninstalled from your computer.
