[Q] Headphone Sound Problem - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with my rooted Galaxy S3. I'm running CyanogenMod and all of a sudden I noticed that my music would only come out of one ear. I tried my headphones on my computer, and they work so it isn't the headphones. I decided to play both Google Play Music and Apollo at the same time, and then it works. I can't just use one of those apps, I have to use both. Then I tried Pandora, it only comes out of one ear. Is there a setting I might of accidently hit that would cause this?

[Q] Galaxy s2 restarts during bluetooth music streaming

I have just received a new S2 after breaking my old one. I need to know if this one needs to go back.
I stream all my music through my Sony car stereo via Bluetooth. Now since getting my new phone. After about 15 minutes of streaming my phone kind of restarts itself. I say kind of, as it doesn't ask for the sim password, but it does go back to the home screen with the music player completely shut down. I loose all BT connection between phone and stereo and I have to find the track i was previously listening to, as though i have opened the player for the first time that day.
When this happens I have no other apps running, and I know the music player has an auto switch off timer in its settings, but i have got this switched off.
I upgraded it to ICS straight away so never tested if this fault occurred whilst my new phone was on Gingerbread.
Is this an ICS fault or the phone? As I didn't get chance to upgrade to ICS before I broke my old phone. So cannot tell.
Hope someone can help.
Rest all pairing an pair up fresh.

Did you mean remove the current pairing i have with my stereo, and search for it again, and start a fresh. If so i will try that on my way to work in the morning and see if it makes a difference. Thank you

Thanks. I have the timeout set to never. Also how do you unpair a device on my S2 ? I am running ICS.
I have tried holding for a number on seconds but no menu comes up. plus the lower left button brings up no menu that offers to unpair.
I'm confused!!!
I have the same problem!
The model of my sony bluetooth car radio is mex-bt5700
The problem began when I began to install ics roms.
The restart is always each 22-23 minutes.
I have tried andyx rom, wanam and others...and always the same.
I have also tried lot of apps, google music, samsung player, player pro, poweramp...
The problem is that I have also bluetooth headset (sony bt-101) and I have no restart with it.
Only with Sony radio.
Hope somebody founds a solution because is very anoying and I wish to stay with ics...I love it!
Thanks!
Well i've tried all but one thing now. Unpairing, repairing, spitting, swearing, apart from stamping on it my last thought is i'm restoring factory settings and trying back on Gingerbread. Just to ensure it is not my phone, and it is ICS.
Once i've done this and tested it i will report back.
Hi Pope, did you have any luck? I am having the same problem with my Galaxy SII. I've tried factory resets, removing the MicroSD card, re-pairing the bluetooth, nothing helps.
I called my provider and they suggested it could've been a bad cell in the battery (been fine with previous Galaxies), or cooking the phone by having navi, music and data on (again, been fine with previous Galaxies).
They're sending me another phone tomorrow, I'll see if it does the same.
Fu..k this is the worst problem i am facing too, dam it why all the **** happens with android and not the iphone, this is when i get teased by how fu..ked android is by my friends when this happens infront of them.
I am fuming now, as it also only happens with my sony car stereo and not with my bluetooth headset ( philips ). Dam Dam, so shall I go back to dam SLOW GB just to solve this grap.
And why exactly after 30 minutes this ****y reboot happens with my sony car stereo when playing music over bluetooth
I am so angry now, as I am sure not many suffer from that problem so no solution will fix that
And for gods sake which controls the sound coming out of the device via bluetooth is it the kernel or the modem, AAHHHHHHHHHHH i am about to throw this mother f___cker out the fu____king window
Galaxy SII bluetooth crash
I also have the Galaxy S2, and also the Bluetooth streaming reboot issue. Seems to have started after the ICS upgrade. Every couple of songs the the track starts to glitch and I know the crash is coming. From my research it seems to commonly affect people streaming to Sony in-car systems. Hope there is a fix soon...:/
I have the very same problem! It started when I updated to ICS and it only happens with my Sony car stereo. Any solutions?
i seem to have fixed my problem, took the sony MEX back and bought a Alpine bluetooth stereo, its ran for over an hour now without a reboot,
if you want to keep the same stereo you need to upgrade to a custom 4.0.4 rom
paranoid android also works. but you will need PlayerPro Music Player to stream track details to the head unit.

[Q] Strange sound Issue??

Hi everybody! I have some problem with my EVO 3D. Sometimes,(nowdays more offten),when I want to listen some music with headphones, some songs or even entire albums can not be played. There is no any sound...In that moments, even some youtube videos can not be played with sound. But,there is no problem with my other songs, albums or some other youtube videos. After RESTART,everything is back to normal and works fine untill another ''bug'' like before.Without headphones every song sounds good and there is no other problem with the phone.Headphones are also ok... I've tried other headphones, music players, but result was the same. I don't know what else I can do???

did you used any sound booster apps? There are some that can boost your volume up to 200% and destroy your speaker.. and sometimes phone get stuck in headphone mode and thinks that they are plugged in.. anyway you should try factory reset.. if you don't loose data do a root and backup (titanium backup, helium (don't require root) etc..)

I have never tried any booster app. All these problems with sound are started one month after factory reset. (Because of ''few'' bugs) After factory reset, everything was good. And now,I only have this problem. I noticed that I need to restart phone almost every 24 hours if I want to listen all my music and watch all yt videos with sound.I deleted all apps which are connected in some way with sound... I don't know? Maybe I should try some custom ROM?
"Media Converter" app maybe was some problem? I deleted this app and for now (48h) everything is good sound is good and I dont need restart. Maybe this was solution? However,I will post here if I see changes (bad changes) : )

[Q] No Audio from Headphones or Speaker, and can't play any sound files

I have a completely stock AT&T Galaxy Note and it's doing a strange thing where it has no audio. I can't get sound at all from most of it, headphones, speakers, nothing. On bluetooth it works, though. If I try to play any audio files, youtube videos, or anything with audio it won't play it. Google Music errors out, saying I can't play the file, Youtube locks up, and anything else requiring audio just hangs as well. When I'm on bluetooth it works but is still unstable. It's like the sound driver is all messed up. I don't know if it's hardware, since when I attempt to play, it isn't just playing silently, it won't even attempt to play. It happened on 4.0.4, and I just updated it ot 4.1.2, and it persists.
Strange right? I've heard mention that a kernel can fix it, but I'm not sure where to begin.

If you are stock, and have made no modifications, try a hard reset and reinstall your programs one by one and check the audio after each program install. Maybe a program you installed is causing your issues.
Good luck.

Every after a hard reset the problem persists. I flashed CM10.1 and it happens there too.

[Q] Strange Earphone Problem - Music Only Playing in Background

Hey everyone. I'm in desperate need of help. I'm wondering whether my earphone jack in my phone is just broken or this is some sort of software issue. I either can't find anything about this problem anywhere else or I'm just searching the wrong keywords.
My international SGS3 with the latest nightly version of CM11 recently started having this weird problem where I would start music playing in Apollo, PlayerPro or Rocket Player (does it in all of them) and there was no sound coming through the earphones at all. I then discovered that when I pressed my home button and minimised the app, the music started playing. However, if I touch anything (status bar, open another app) the music stops immediately until I put it back to the home screen. Music works fine when playing music through the loudspeaker, and I've tried many different pairs of earphones.
I've seen strange stuff where the music can't play in the background but never that it can't play in anything but the background. Will I buy a replacement earphone jack or is there something I can do to fix it without taking my phone to bits?

It seems to be something to do with the newest CM11 build...
Make a nandroid backup, flash another AOSP/Sammy's rom (i recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603155 )
and see if the problem continues

It wasn't working before I updated it and it still isn't working. Why is no one else having this problem with CM11?

[Q] Music Stops Playing When Turning Off Screen or Entering APPS

Hi,
Can someone please help me out here? Whenever I listen to music, my sound will shut down when i turn off my screen or try to access apps and it will go back to normal once I turn my screen back on or go back to my home screen.
This whole time I've been running JellyBeans Rom build 21 with no problems, but decided to switch to PACMAN Rom because I was sick of 4.1. I installed Viper4Android and followed every directions correctly, but the problems came up after this. It's so bad to the point where if I want to listen to music, I have to trick my phone by unplugging my headphones, play music through my phone speakers initially, then plug the my headphones back in to make it work somewhat normally. This solves the music pausing problem when I turn off my screen, but to do this every single time is ghetto and whack. I still can't access my apps without my music pausing when resorting to this method.
So today, I said, "Screw it" and went through the trouble of restoring my phone back to the factory settings and rooting again so if the problem was Viper4Android or some system issue within the phone, it would go back to normal. Sadly, no luck and the issue still exists. I even thought that I messed up on something when changing the coding in build prop manager, but I reverted back to factory settings so there shouldn't be an issue.
I've heard people had issues where their music would skip on them when they turn off their screen, but I think my problem is different.
So my question to you is: Anyone experiencing similar problems or do you think that this a hardware issue? If this is a hardware issue, I have no problems taking apart my phone and replace the earphone jack.
Well, I think I figured out the problem. My phone is rejecting Google launcher when it comes to music for some weird reason. I switched to NOVA launcher and my music works perfectly now. *sigh* I guess losing the "OK Google" command is a small price to pay for music... So my next question is, how do I make my music work with the Google launcher? It seems like I'm only experiencing this problem haha

I believe it has something to do with the voice activation. I am using Nova Launcher but am able to reproduce the bug using the Voice Search within Dolphin browser. When I have headphones plugged in and playing music, as soon as I use the voice search option, the music mutes and doesn't come back til I unplug my headphones.
EDIT: Just to try it, I used my gf's Razr M phone. Had headphones plugged in, played music. Did Google Voice Search, the music stopped also BUT after finding whatever I Voice Searched, the music resumed on its own. Maybe there is a code missing to resume the audio?
