[Q] RUU for my HTC DNA - HTC Droid DNA

I believe somehow my image of 2.04 is jacked up. I cannot factory reset my phone, I cannot update to 2.06 OTA. After reading tons of treads and running what I thought was a correct RUU, it ended up being for an older version, I'm looking for help on how to reflash my phone back to factory 2.04 or 2.06 with RUU as nothing else has worked and I'm hoping that will. I am not rooted, S-ON and locked bootloader. I hope someone can help me, this is really frustrating. If you need anymore information from me, please let me know. I will provide it ASAP.

The RUU you found is the only one there is.

Ok, so I've downloaded RUU_DLX_WL_JB_45_VERIZON_WWE_1.15.605.4_Radio_1.00.00.1023_3_NV_VZW_1.9 from a couple different places including XDA posts and everytime I get a "The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again" I'm I not using the right one? This is the only one I can find for HTC DNA Verizon. I've also tried the DNA toolkit with no luck. QQ
Edit: When I've done anything in the toolkit I get some form of FAILED (remote: signature verify fail), FYI. Thanks again for any help. I'm really at a loss.

Pretty sure you can't use an older version RUU on a newer software version, and AFAIK there's no updated RUU yet.

Ok, thanks all for the help! I guess all I can do it either contact HTC and see if they will offer me any advice on how I'm suppose to restore my phone that can't be restored by conventional methods or wait for 2.04 to be rooted. Cheers everyone.

Yea, you're trying to use a RUU that can't be used with the version you are on.
What you can do is boot into your bootloader (power off, then hold volume down+power when booting up) and try a factory reset in hboot. this usually will return the phone to "out of box" condition.

Not sure... I know someone in the CM Dev thread did it to regain data and I've seen a few others say they've done it. To the OP I suggest research a bit before doing it. If you find someone who had issues hold off on doing it.

Ok, so i tried factory reset from bootloader. The phone beings to reset. It shows me a progress bar, it gets about a quarter the way through and the phone reboots back into android with all my data and settings still intact. :/ I've contacted HTC on these issues I am having. If y'all have anything else I can try, please let me know, but I will update this thread with any helpful information that I get from HTC. Thanks!

Given that you're not rooted, is there any reason you don't want to just take it to Verizon? If they can't fix it in store I'd expect they'd just swap it out.

Click the link in my sig download the hboot that is version # 1.15.605.4, flash it via the instructions in the post, then try the RUU again... I've read on here that's how its done

[Q] Big Trouble In Rezound Town!

Ok, so impatience got the best of me. I bought the Rezound earlier this week when I heard ICS was coming on 4/6. I was sick of my droid x2 so it was a win win for me, I love HTC.
When I found out there was no update in the near future I decided to give the leaked ROM a try. I am NOT rooted, my bootloader is locked.
I flashed the update and now I have no signal on my device.
Frantically i tried to flash back to the current stock to no avail. I tried the RUU but of course it failed due to the difference in hboot versions.
WTF do I do now???
Having an awesome phone you cant use sucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to avoid rooting if possible...

Which leak did you flash? Pre-rooted or stock? Also, this might sound like a dumb question, but is your battery door off? You won't be able to get any signal of any kind with the battery door off.
Stock. Battery door is on and still all i get is the little x over the bars. tried in cdma only mode. tried with the sim out, etc
maybe re-flashing the leaked ruu?

Did you run the RUU twice? It might not have finished updating. It needs to flash in hboot, then reboot and you'll flash it again. Try it over and make sure you do it twice if you didn't. That should fix it.

The old RUU or the ICS? The old one failed due to hboot mismatch. The ICS update I flashed from a PH98IMG. And yes, did it twice.

The leak. You won't be able to flash any old ruu. I would relock your bootloader, then flash the leaked ics ruu twice again.
EDIT: Just make sure you follow the instructions HERE that Scott has provided.
Double check your md5. May have gotten a bad download.

I know this might sound dumb but, awhile ago I was having a similar problem. I went frantic like you. Turns out I must have accidentally bumped the mobile data button in the quick settings pull down bar. Just wondering if you might have data turned it off and didn't think about checking it cause you are figuring it's a problem with the leak.

Similar thing happened to me. I have hboot 1.15. I relocked the the phone ran the RUU. Phone booted up normal with the everything stock. I then took the OTA and when it rebooted it was updating then it rebooted and the phone never turned on again. I sent it to HTC for warranty. They will get it tuesday. I'll see how this goes.
Okay guys... Enough with the flaming. If you can help, post! If not, don't. Grow up. It was posted in the wrong section. Use the report button in the upper-right corner of the post and report it.
Now, let me see if I can actually help you.
You're getting this error because you're trying to flash an older RUU on the phone than what's already on there. You'll need to flash the same RUU version or higher. If you took the latest OTA update, there may not be one available yet. I'd suggest you go through the HTCDev unlock again until that RUU makes it to the internet.
Team Nocturnal posted a couple of the older RUU versions.

Hi there jrgalioto. Can you do me a favor, and boot into your bootloader for me? I'd like you to check the green text.
What Radio version does it say you have?
Also, if you can connect the phone up to your computer and run the fastboot command (in FASTBOOT USB mode):
Code:
fastboot getvar mainver
What number comes back? (If you can't run the command, don't worry about it)
---
If I might ask, why did you relock the phone?
---
I'm looking into trying to get you a link to a current RUU. One has been posted, but I can't access it because of Filefactory's restrictions. Hopefully somebody will post a mirror to the download soon.

I relocked because I needed to bring it back to Sprint for service, so I needed to unroot it, because I wasn't receiving data to it. But I got it figured out now. I was able to unlock the bootloader again and my recovery was still there. So i reflashed a custom ROM, so I at least had something on my phone. When I called Sprint, I told them it was not a phone issue, they updated my username in the system, then I was able to ##72786# to get the hands free activation to complete without error 1012. So I am now back in business. However, If I ever do have to unroot again, I will be in the same boat.

My phone won't respond to the volume down and power button either.
any suggestions?

[Q] Can't Get S-OFF with Wire Trick!

Hi everyone,
I'm really hoping someone can help me with getting my E3D S-off with the wire trick. Even though I've been a member on this site for a couple years, I never really did much on here because I haven't done much with my phone until now. So, I'm hoping that being a newbie, someone can help me...
Long story short, I've been waiting patiently until the official ICS update from Sprint to be able to root my phone and finally install a custom ROM without all the Sprint bloatware and finally have a clean, stock ICS ROM on my phone. For the past two days I've been trying to do the wire trick by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813818
It's just that my phone will NOT let me do it! I've successfully unlocked the bootloader on hboot 1.58 and rooted the phone with superuser. When I go to do the wire trick, after running JuopunutBear's Wire Trick, all I get is to the point where it says "Seconday Backup FAILED at Beginning!!" and just exits the program.
I've literally done everything. I read that it's caused by a custom ROM or having HTC Sync installed on my PC. The ROM I have is the stock Sprint ICS 4.0 ROM that was installed by the RUU. I've wiped my SD card and even used two other cards, and it STILL won't work. I have no idea what to do anymore. After two days of having a blank phone, I've just about given up. I know there's gotta be a way to do it, but I just can't figure it out. I can't find anything regarding this problem from anyone else on this site or anywhere on Google. People say they had the problem and it fixed itself, but I can't get past it. Can someone please help? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should try flashing a stock GINGERBREAD ROM. The thing with JuopunutBear is that you need crucial files from GB. Unless they updated it, I may be wrong.
Instead of flashing an RUU, look for a full stock ROM for your phone.
Then it should work perfectly.
I did it on my GSM EVO 3D, but there was a better guide on here for it, however, it's gone now.
I wish you luck, comment back if it doesn't work.
I actually restored the original RUU which didn't work, and then flashed the PG86IMG.zip file for the ICS ROM and that didn't work either. I've gone through all the steps of unlocking and rooting multiple times, and it still gives me that backup message. I have no idea what else to do.
Also, the phone is new - Sprint replaced it under warranty for me because the bezel of my old one was coming loose which they said is a common problem, so they swapped it out with a fresh one for me. The only thing I can think of is maybe that daemon message I get when I start the fastboot? It says something like "Daemon not started. Starting on port 5037." Does the port have anything to do with it?
I'm gonna try flashing a stock Gingerbread ROM now. I'm downloading the 2.17.651.5 release - I think that's the official Gingerbread update from Sprint. I'll post back soon - thanks for your help.

Make sure you watch the screen on the phone until the prompts for superuser have appeared and been approved. Also, have you read through the JuopunutBear thread in the stickies of the development forum? There's a lot of information in there and a link to a good video by zedomax, and if that isn't enough to get you through it you can get some live help by logging into the IRC channel from the support page on the unlimited.io website.

I appreciate the help so far. I tried returning to a stock Gingerbread ROM to do the S-off trick since they thought maybe it had something to do with files from Gingerbread that weren't in the ICS ROM, but the phone won't let me do it. Running the official RUU fails and says it can't update the software, and trying to flash the PG86IMG.zip from the bootloader just ignores it - I boot the phone, it spends five minutes loading and checking, then just goes back to the menu. I read you can't flash an older firmware update over a newer one unless you have S-off, but since that's what I'm trying to get at, that obviously won't work.
So, I gave up and flashed the official RUU for ICS and it flashed fine and put me back at the stock Sprint software. Unlocked bootloader, rooted and tried the S-off again, and got the same problem. I'm giving up on it for the night but I'll research the stickies tomorrow at work and see what I can find and if anyone else might have had this problem. I don't feel like accepting the fact that there's no way to get S-off on this phone. Seems everyone else had no problems.
Thanks again for all your help so far!

JuopunutBear will work fine with the Sprint ICS 2.89 build installed, but make sure you use the version designed for that build.
Good luck!

Okay cool, just let me know. Thanks.
So I figured I would update on this but I'm sure no one really cares.
I FINALLY got S-off using the wire trick by installing a quick custom ROM and trying the process again. For some reason the guide I used said to use the stock untouched ROM but it didn't work for me, even though everyone else seems to have had luck.
So, after flashing a ROM quick through ext4 worked for me, and I flashed CoolROM with Sense 4.1. Looks good, but there's no 4G. I get full 4G coverage where I live, so I'm gonna kind of miss that. I was originally looking for a clean stock ICS ROM without Sense, but when I said this with Sense 4.1 I figured I'd give it a shot. Does anyone know of a stable ROM with working 4G and everything else? The whole reason I decided to root and get S-off was to finally remove all the Sprint bloatware, so I want a clean ROM. If anyone knows of a good ROM, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

*security warning* Stuck in bootloader

I've done a bunch of searching on this and finally gave up and decided to ask it here because I can't find anywhere with actual info on it... I was trying to ruu back to the 2.13 base and then reroot from scratch with the new radios but ended up getting stuck in the bootloader with **TAMPERED** **RELOCKED** and **Security Warning** as the headers. It won't let me reboot, it won't let me into recovery, and I'm getting frustrated ... I still have access to fastboot but I'm useless with commands so I haven't been able to fix it. Any help?
Basically, here's the whole details.
I'm on hboot 1.15 s-on, dev-unlocked using regaw's rooting+unlocking tool. The phone had the 2.13 deodexed running, got it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860728
Had twrp 2.X (the version before the latest) installed
I tried running the latest ruu.exe on my computer but it kept failing so I looked it up and assumed it must be because I was dev-unlocked.
Went into the bootloader>fastboot and locked it with fastboot oem lock
The phone rebooted into bootloader with the ** Security Warning** header and now I'm stuck...
I would try the downgrade thread.. It's pretty easy and I believe it can be done from bootloader. Then instead of going thru all that hassle, use one of the radio upgrades from captain throw back on themikmik. Just my opinion. Worst that could happen is it doesn't work. Anyone else have feedback on this??

I think I figured it out.. I dug a little deeper into some other threads I found on it from people who've done this before. One of them managed to fix it by running the RUU from the bootloader. It took me a bit to realize it had to be in fastboot (facepalm) for it to run. It failed the first time but it looks like its working this time. :good:
Good luck to ya. I hope it works out.. I would still recommend using the hacked upgrades for radios and such.

Do you know with the security warning will cause running an RUU to fail?

I'm in the same boat as you were - can you point me to where/how you got the RUU to run? I've got exactly the same situation, but my RUU (2.13) won't run, either in fastboot or the bootloader.

[Q] Plese help, factory reset phone now have no OS and bootloader/recovery wont flash

please please help me, i have twrp installed i heard 2.4 was not flashing properly so reverted back to 1.1.1...I go into bootloader then boot my recovery.img. then when im in TWRP i try to flash one of my roms and its not allowing it, I think its because of the s-on again?? it still says unlocked at the top of bootloader but s-on instead of s-off now. I have no operating system now and cant think of a way to fix this. please anyone with any ideas or solutions help me, ive exhausted my ideas. I use my phone all the time, so any help would be greatly appreciated, i'd pay you for help if I could.
Please let us know which device u have.

I dont know what Odin is. I have an HTC Evo 3d. Now my phone is not even turning on exactly like this guys: it wont let me post links yet but go to youtube and then search for: "Bricked HTC EVO 3D, not powering up, red light" and thats my current problem. am I just screwed?
sometimes i can get to bootloader but then s-on is still there so that seems like its preventing me from flashing roms.
What is Odin?
Thank you for the help.

Ok I got it to bootloader after removing the battery 50 times and putting it back in then doing the power/vol down. im in TWRP 2.4 because it lets me access my SD card. The problem i think is that when i did a full factory reset on my phone it turned s-on so my old roms are not working. so now im downloading the stock rom, going to put that in the roms folder and try to zip that sucker in, then do the s-off procedure again once I finally have an operating system again. I probably sound like a total noob but if anyone can offer advice or help along the line it would be appreciated. thank you
well I still cant install any ROMs. I cant do the s-off "wire trick" because apparently that requires an operating system. Will someone please help me out here. Why is it failing to install every ROM i have. I know i have the right stock ROMs. at the top of bootloader it says "Unlocked" and s-on, if that helps at all.. thanks for any help
sorry to keep posting but after reading the original root guide I used it turns out i never had S-off. So WHY cant I install any roms, every utility I use just says unable to install. I have tried multiple roms, and tried the one I had installed before, so I know for a fact that one is good. I have no operating system. the error message I keep getting has to do with md5 but I read thats not even a critical component. I tried extracting the boot.img from the rom, running that , then installing it. NO luck. Please someone with experience help. Or am I just screwed? Thanks for the help
bump, please help. why cant I flash a ROM, any rom, even ones I know work well because I have used them?
I fixed it, if anyone comes across this in the future. You have to have your bootloader RELOCKED to run a RUU. Maybe that is common knowledge but it sure evaded me. just fastboot oem lock then run the RUU and you are back to stock.
any one know how to fix QHSUSB_DLOAD caused after trying the s-off wire trick.
