So long and thanks for all the fish! - HTC Rezound

Hey Rezounders,
So my screen has been cracked badly for a few months. I finally took it to a repair shop and they basically botched the install and screwed up the phone, so they offered me a swap for a Dinc 4G.
So, I'm on to a new device, which I'm actually liking a lot (I missed the OG Dinc form factor and am digging having a smaller phone again), but I'm going to REALLY miss the modding community here! Things have come a long way from the angsty days of early 2012.
Super big thanks to Neo, Chad, Snuzzo, shrike, ihwo, flyhalf, TheBroken, and all the other amazing devs who had turned this device that was almost written off by many into an awesome thriving AOSP ecosystem with so many ROMs to choose from! :good::good::good:

Thank you all for your work.

so i wanted to shout out a thanks to all the devs.
they have been asked for ETAs, and i wanted to just thank them for their work they have done on the mopho so far and i look forward to what magic tricks they have in the future.
I think they are amazing for the work they do. I would be lost without them, and they are amazing people to take a product, and tweak it to make it an even better product. I truly thank yall everytime i pick up my phone.
I think everyone needs to take a look at how many android phones are out there now and how many users the devs are supporting. its truly amazing when you look at the numbers. Android Rocks!
Thanks again devs!

Yep. And I will second this! THANKS!
Being my first Android phone, and not a junkie, I am looking forward to seeing what can be done with this thing and maybe even digging in a little myself as I check out what our devs do!
I will second that as well.
I just came over to the Photon from an HTC Hero. I picked up the Hero on the first day it came out and would have jumped ship long ago if it had not been for the dedicated hackers who made this phone so great.
My Hero lasted two years because developers spent their time pulling apart and putting together new ROMs. If the vendors supported their products a tenth as well as their developer base does, just imagine the kind of phones we would have. Support your developers with a donation. They deserve it.
+1 hero user here too! My Hero is still in service, handed it down to my mother.

Thanks for the memories.

Just wanted to drop a thanks to all the Devs who made my experience with the Eris worthwhile. I go it as a work phone 2 years ago just before the Incredible was released. I wanted a better phone and was sad that I had to settle for the Eris. But thanks to you, your hard work and determinations it was one of the most fun experiences I have ever had with a phone. The versatility that has been achieved by what I believe to be the best group of developers ever to grace the XDA or the Web is nothing short of phenomenal. I remember the outcry when XDA flagged the Eris as legacy and how this community pulled together to smite the admins and release the phone from its shackles. Long live the eris.
But alas, I am moving on...
Got to get a new phone and quite frankly, I am ready for a phone with a larger screen and more processing power. Eris and this community will always have a place in my heart.
Thanks for everything and good luck in your future endeavors.
Well said. I purchased an Eris as a cheaper introduction to smartphones than the OG Droid. Android lived up to my expectations, the Eris did not. Then I stumbled onto XDA and all of the hard work from the devs. Rooted, with a custom rom installed, my Eris was now tolerable and could be kept current with the latest Android release.
Sadly, I will be moving on soon as well. My little Eris made it 2 years thanks to the efforts of this community. Thank you all, and hello Galaxy Nexus!

So Long

Well this is it for me and the Rezound guys. I just bought a used Galaxy Nexus off Swappa. I needed something more stable that has official Jelly Bean support and this was my only answer. I plan to leave Verizon in May when my contract is finally up and switch to T-Mo like all the cool kids are doing these days. It's been a hell of a ride with this device and I have never regretted it since the day I bought the Rez I knew it was a better device, but its quirks and its growing instability with JB has made it a tough move for me. I am beyond impressed with the community here (I've been over to the Galaxy forums and man are they all over the place). However I will deal with that for now. I want to thank every single dev that ever did any work on this phone it has made the experience much more incredible than I though it would have been. To the community thanks again this has been my home for almost two years daily checking roms, reading posts and interacting with you guys has been great and I thank you all for that as well. I guess I will see what I missed on the Nexus front and what I didn't as well. Sincerely guys thanks and to all the devs still here keep up your work I may not be using it from here on but so many of us have counted on you guys to bring a real up to date experience for the REZ. Take care REZ community.:good:

Thanks to the Developers

I'm switching to sprint next week and I'm getting the nexus 5, I just wanted to thank our amazing developers for all their hard work keeping our phone updated, I really appreciate all of you guys, hopefully some of u will get the nexus 5

ill have my rezound as a dev phone till it crumples up and dies....but i plan on getting the One very shortly
I might be jumping ship to the One as well...I've been trying to talk myself into it for a few months but it seems like the universe is pushing for me to get it. I just got an invite to elevate yesterday.. later that night I was just switching to a different extended battery (I like to cycle through different ones to keep them happy) and poof reboot every 3 min. It happened all day today too. I finally got it to stop after uninstalling some recent apps and doing my magical "Rezound please don't reboot" dance/prayer/ritual.
I love my Rezound when it's working properly (I think I'm on my 7th), but I'm starting to see it as a warm heavy brick in my pants.
Sorry, I had some venting to do that no one I know in real life would understand. No tech savvy friends, I hear the occasional "Why don't you have an iPhone?" from them.

I also want to thank all of the devs. Great job keeping it up to date. I switched to the Note 3 recently and it's badass. I was stuck between the One, G2 and the Note 3 but I definitely made the right choice. The One looks awesome but I love how big and powerful the Note 3 is. All my previous phones have been HTC but I think Samsung definitely won me over. It's been a pleasure my friends. Hope to see you guys around again. Snuzzo, Fly, Neo..you guys are awesome!
I would like to send my appreciation as well... I am on the verge of getting the HTC One. My phone has been freezing up recently and its not a software related crash, so I'm afraid I went in the Verizon store and was awe struck at the One... although I don't like the lack of a changeable battery or SD card, but damn its a nice phone. I was sold and am very close to buying one.
This would be the first time I haven't changed phones out of anger at my old phone. The Rezound really has impressive specs and impressive devs who build for it...this is the reason I have extended my usage on the Rezound for nearly a year now. Its too bad the Rezound wasn't better known. Its still generally fast and still has a great screen, I would dare say the best of its time.
I hope to see some Rezound devs on the One in the future. I know more than one has mentioned the plan to move on to the One.
It will be a somber bitter sweet day for me as i love my Rezound but I'm needing to move on if I keep having this issue.
I would also like to say a big thank you to our devs here. It's been a generally awesome device to own because of them. Specifically Neo for the numerous amazing ROMs he's given us, Snuzzo and IHateWebOS for their awesome kernels, Flyhalf for maintaining TWRP and, of course, Chad for being our AOSP savior! shrike1978 also gets a big thanks for the writeup on how to build CM. Without that I guarantee I never would have compiled a ROM myself.
The guys working hard in the AOSP Dev thread to get us a stable 4.4 ROM also get a shout out.
The unlimited.io guys also get a MASSIVE thanks for their S-OFF tool Juopunutbear. The process was just badass lol. Never would've thought when I got the phone and saw those pins that they would be so important down the road. I think that's kind of what made owning this device awesome as well; the fact that you had to put in some effort to get S-OFF made it feel more like an accomplishment, like you've earned it. With the Nexus 5 (the device I'll be switching to when it finally decides to ship/arrive) it'll just be as simple as "fastboot oem unlock" and it's fully unlocked. There's no sense of achievement or anything doing that! Lol I'm definitely not saying I wish it was harder or anything, just that it won't be the same.
I would also like to thank the community for always supporting and being polite to our developers, as well as always being willing to help one another. I think the fact that we have one thread with over 500 posts in it with people just helping each other speaks for how awesome you guys are.
It's been a long road for us Rezound owners, and it makes me a bit sad to think about moving on to a different device, with a different community. I can only hope that the Nexus 5 community will be half as good as this one.
Hope to see you guys over there with me.

While I did just jump to an LG G2, I won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I've invested way too much time and effort on this phone to walk away from it. Not to mention the Mrs. has a rezound and the G2 is an officially supported device, so there's really no challenge to it.
The good news is now I have a dev phone, so I don't have to worry about getting it back to a working state when I'm working on it.
Well I did it. I got the One. I had to pay full retail price for it otherwise I cant keep my unlimited data... and considering that I've used 11Gb so far, that was not an option.
I am impressed with it as I was impressed with the Rezound when I got it.
This community has been amazing. This was the first phone I ever flashed anything too. Considering now the Rezound is a spare/play phone, maybe I will try some developing for it. I know I wont be able to match the great devs here, but I figured I could try my hand at it. Especially now this is not my main phone I need to rely on.
So once again a big thanks for the additional life that some great people have given to the Rezound. A truly great place to be. Now I just need to try to get my Paypal back so I can show some appreciation monetarily to some people.

Thanks To All the REZ Developers and Users

Just want to thank "ALL" the Developers and all users here who worked on the Htc Rezound and making it an awesome phone for the past 2 years, I really appreciate all of your hard work and making the Rez the phone that it is.
Without you it wouldn't be what it is.
Thanks Again
It's been a great Ride on the Rez.

Just curious, what are you moving to? Thinking about the N3 dev edition myself, if it really comes to verizon. It's hard to leave a phone with such great devs though. Especially not knowing how much you might regret it.

Yes, the devs are one of a kind
S4 Mini
Was able to upgrade and keep unlimited data for 50.00
Anything larger than the Rez is just too big for my small hands
Got root and usb tether so its still good.
Still got both my Rez's though. May sell though depending on how the developement goes whith the S4 M.

Thanks to you, too, for your work. Enjoyed running the great variety of ROMs on my Rezound, including yours. Getting ready myself to jump off to an HTC One (how can you argue with a $29.99 price point?) and probably stay stock unrooted for a bit.
It's been a great group here with Nils, Neo, Broken, Snuzzo and many others too numerous to mention who made my Rezound so much more functional only a few weeks after I first got it more than 2 years ago.

I just moved on to the HTC One myself. And I gotta say I'm glad I did. My rezound was a great phone though. It (they. I had two.)will be missed. I was hoping to see Neo over at the Verizon HTC One forums though.
