[MOD] NFC Screen Locked/Screen Off Versions - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

Hi Folks,
I created this mod for the Galaxy S4 I9505, However I think this mod would work on AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 as it running the same spec phone.
Could an experienced user test this mod and report back if it works, if not if they can upload the nfcnci.apk I will see if I can get the mod working on AT&T.
Before running the program please ensure you have a backup of nfcnci.apk and nfcnci.odex (if the file exists) depnending upon if your rom is odex or deodex just in case the mod does not work.
Now for the Mod
Lockscreen What this does is allows you to use nfc when the screen is on and in a locked status.
Screen Off Allows the use of NFC when the screen is off.
By default NFC only works when the phone screen is on and unlocked. (Suspect always had problem on this one as previously stated)
any feedback appreciated.
Remember to backup before flashing. for that just it case situation.
Enjoy Optimal
p.s. remember people that leaving the NFC on all the time can leave you phone open to security breaches. so please be careful when using this mod.

I can report that screen off mod works. Going to try lockscreen next. Dont know how i feel about NFC being on when screen is off.

thanks @DJsCrIBbLe for testing. In terms of screen off version it will be a security risk, However a number of users have requested it. I suppose they will just need to ensure they take all relevant security precautions. and protection of there phone
Because NFC can be breached and could cause all sorts of issues and hacks.
anyway thanks for testing its much appreciated.

Lock screen works too

Do you have the stock NFC version of this mod?
I bricked my GS4 i337's Google Wallet. Everything on my phone works, but I can't get into the Google Wallet App because it requires NFC and the toggle doesn't work anymore. I want to install a new ROM and/or use the current one WITH Google Wallet, but I can access it. Do you have a "revert to stock" version of the NFC mod for the i337?
Can anyone send me a copy of the two original files for the i337 nfcnci.odex and nfcnci.apk and tell me how I revert back?
Please help.

So neither of these mods worked for me. I'm stock SGH-I337M odex. I still have my regular nfc functionality but it's not working with screen off or at lock screen.

Any possible way you could take the Google Wallet modified files, make the edits, and post these? Would be handy for those with the Google Wallet mod.

The mod involves the following things:
Install Xposed Mod
Install Wallet Xposed module (hides root and phone model from Wallet's built-in search) and enable the module
Edit /system/build.prop to fool Wallet into thinking it's a Galaxy Nexus
Stop the system
Replace /system/app/NfcNci.apk
(Remove /system/app/NfcNci.odex)
Replace /system/app/NfcTest.apk
(Remove /system/app/NfcTest.odex)
Replace /system/etc/nfcee_access.xml
Replace /system/lib/libnfc-nci.so
Replace /system/lib/libnfc_nci_jni.so
Replace /system/lib/hw/nfc_nci.MSM8960.so
Clear dalvik cache
Reboot
Setup Google Wallet as you would normally. Get it completely initialized.
Restore build.prop to normal settings
Reboot
The original post includes two different methods of doing this, and I think both involve flashing a zip file from recovery. I don't like flashing zips like that, so I disassembled it and came up with the procedure above. ^_^

Google wallet working on Note 2

DO NOT USE THE ZIP ON 4.1.2 based ROMS. For 4.1.2 roms: Copy wallet R96 into /system/app and set permissions appropriately. Files from the new Sprint leak appear to fix the "reader not detected" problem (since wallet will be officially supported on the sprint variant) and I will upload a new zip shortly. (Unless someone has time to do it sooner)
For 4.1.1 roms:
Thanks to Its Twix for the write up & ogdobber for the technical support and making the zip
A Complete and Utter Idiot's Guide to Getting Google Wallet Working on the Verizon Note II, Running Touchwiz ROMs:
1) Create a Nandroid backup in Recovery.
2) Flash NoteII-lib_nfc-fix-r87.zip from custom recovery and wipe Cache.
2) Run Google Wallet and see if it works. If you haven't setup Google Wallet before, it will most likely crash at "Setting up Google Wallet. This may take 5 minutes." *If you have already setup Google Wallet and get a crash error after switching ROMs, look for the other guide at the bottom*
3) If it crashes, use Root Explorer (I refer to Root Explorer because that's what I use but you can use any file explorer that can change permissions and mount system) to Mount system R/W and remove the Wallet apk from system/app
4) Edit build.prop (in the system folder) to be a Galaxy Nexus (CHANGES MADE BELOW).
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
product.device=maguro
5) Save and Exit then long press build.prop and make sure permissions are Owner: R/W Group: R Others: R
6) Reboot
7) Download Google Wallet from the Play Store
8) Set up Google Wallet and register a card. Once it finishes registering the card the app will reset.
9) When it resets and asks which account you would like to use for Wallet, close the app.
10) DELETE (not uninstall) the Wallet apk from data/app
11) Navigate to where you saved the modified Wallet zip and extract the files.
12) When the extraction completes, go to the extracted files location.
13) Copy the com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel.modaco.1.5-r87-v15.apk file and paste it in /system/app (make sure you have system mounted R/W).
14) Long press on the wallet apk file you copied and set permissions to Owner: R/W Group: R Others: R
15) Reboot
16) Run Wallet and go through the setup. It should work now instead of crashing.
17) Reboot
18) Run Wallet. If it still works after the reboot, change your build.prop back to where it was originally (CHANGES BELOW).
ro.product.model=SCH-I605
ro.product.name=t0ltevzw
product.device= t0ltevzw
19) Make sure the build.prop permissions are still Owner: R/W Group: R Others: R
20) Make another Nandroid backup.
21) Go try it out!
NOTE: Google Wallet is not usable everywhere that Bling/PayPass is! Just because it doesn't work at one place does not mean it won't work at another!
Merchants where it is (most likely) guaranteed to work can be found here: http://www.google.com/wallet/how-it-works/in-store.html. Some other places that are not listed there may still work (e.g. McDonald's). Sadly. some places you will go do not even have their Bling/PayPass system on or working so make sure it's actually working before you come back here saying your transaction didn't work.
Hope this helps. Sorry it's so thorough, I just wanted to help out some of those that might not be so used to this sort of thing.
If you are changing to a new ROM and having issues:
1) Flash the modaco r87 zip in the OP and try to run it.
2) Try to add an account. It will probably crash at Adding Account.
3) Change build.prop to be a Galaxy Nexus and fix permissions (follow step 4 of the first guide).
4) Reboot
5) Run Wallet and it should be working again. If it works, change your build.prop back to what it was originally and fix permissions (follow step 18 of the first guide).
6) Go try it out!
If you get an error about Insufficient secure element permissions, reflash the Modaco apk and reboot.
On Beans build4 there is an issue with adding cards. Keep trying and close the app occasionally when trying and it should add the card successfully.

Word on the street is Verizon disabled it, pending their own app for the same purpose to make more money
Your farther then I got. Ha. Downloaded it and it said not compatible with this device. Hope you can figure it out soon.
Yes, but Verizon only disabled access to it from the market and left out some libs. I'm past that part already, just gotta figure out how to trigger the transaction now.
I will definitely be following this thread. Good work getting this far!
Thanks, I was actually responsible for getting wallet working on the GS3 and then some scumbag make a video and took credit for it. Very upsetting. This time I'll make the video myself and give it to the tech sites lol

Nothing to framework.... some libs yes. I could only get one specific version of wallet to load the secure element applet, so I used that and then afterwards I upgraded the wallet version to R87.
Made normal changes to build.prop so it thinks its a GNex. Lots of tinkering and playing though, and even if I can get it fully working, it seems the process to get it working on this device will be more complicated than the S3
Is snote still working for you since you changed the build.prop to nexus or no?

I changed it to Nexus just to add the cards. Once the cards were added, I changed it back.
Because this is a modified wallet, it doesn't do the device check on every run. But, in the background, it transmits the value in build.prop to google to get the OK to add the card, and if what is transmitted is not valid, google doesn't allow you to add cards.
Are you sure it doesnt check on card swipe as well? Did you try to swipe with the build.prop as a nexus? Just curious

Yes I did. I didn't change the build.prop back until after I came back to work.
Same thing I always did with the S3 too. Like I said, I think the Nfc.apk passes the data to wallet for the transaction.
Right now I'm trying to find a stock odexed rom for the I9300 (same chip) with android 4.1.1.
I'll have this working by the end of the day

Have you tried 1.5 R79 v5?
That is the only version that consistently worked with my VZW Gnex. Other versions installed and let me add cards, however, when it came time for the transaction they would scan but wouldn't go through.
I had the exact same symptoms when not using this version.

Description: This method (nearly identical to my previous thread for the Verizon Galaxy S III) will help you get Google Wallet working on your Verizon Galaxy S4, regardless if you have a TouchWiz-based ROM or AOSP-based and whether it's Odexed or Deodexed. This should also work on AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile Galaxy S4 as well.
Please Note: In order to use this method you need to be rooted and have a custom recovery (1, 2, or 3).

Everything seems to be working. I will have to head to McDonald's tomorrow and give it a try. Thanks!
Well I got this working from the other thread but looks to be same methods which is fine.
Now poking around... I noticed I have a devices section on the Wallet website and see I can reset it remotely if anything happens (though I wouldn't test that for ROM issues). Nice to know... is this more a secure element self destruct?
Also I notice a section asking to "Verify Identify" which if required... I will. But I am already reading where people have entire Play Store/Checkout locked out over this permanently over this. I just hope I don't get my account screwed one day because Google hates the grocery which I shop at or some lame thing where GPS is off by 500ft and claims I'm not there.... I know farfetched and over the top but just concerned or if anyone had issues with this.

I wouldn't worry too much about those, I think the remote reset from the website just wipes the app by itself, the secure element stays working so it can be passed on. Highly unlikely and unnecessary that Google will want to brick a secure element for security purposes.

Which method did you use? What happens when you restore the build.prop? I personally have this running back on the stock build.prop using method A, so I know no issues on that one.

I'm currently stuck in "identity verification hell" and can't use Wallet even on my 100% stock Nexus 7. not happy. I sent them my license and a utility bill already and they still want more (SS card) which seems ridiculous. Amazon Payments was required to collect SSNs not too long ago...but they didn't require a freakin scan of the original document.
ugh.
anyway: Method A works great for me (still on TouchWiz for now sadly).
anyone else notice that when you change the build.prop product name, if you long-press the home button you see three icons along the bottom of the screen instead of "Task manager", "Google", and "Close All"? I believe that's what AT&T/T-Mo users see by default. wasn't enough to get rid of that stupid WiFi notification though

Method A , Step 7. Reboot into your recovery and flash the Google Wallet mod
The file downloads as JFLTEVZW-Wallet-TW-JB-1.6-R96-v16.zip.zip
It's a nested zip file. does it need to be unzipped one level first or is that just the name of it ?
Mine has been at 'setting up this could take 5 minutes' for 10 minutes. I used Method A.
Nice, just finished Method A.
ZIP file was fine as is.
Everything appears to be working. Will confirm after i get to make a purchase at some point. Thanks!!!!
Edit; I had previously used Google Wallet on my Galaxy Nexus so everthing came back, cards, etc. easy peasy.
What happens if we follow all steps properly and get Wallet working, but then flash the 3Minit framework after in order to use the UI tweaks that the 3Minit app offers? Does that mess anything up for Wallet or is that Xposed framework needed permanently?

The Xposed framework is needed to stay there for Google Wallet to patch properly but if I understand that 3Minit mod correctly I think it just added an additional patch to the Xposed framework to enable and doesn't need to replace it? Could be wrong but I think it should be fine.
I already have xposed framework installed. Do I have to UN install it before doing this? I'll lose all my mods.. and have to set it all up again, grr.

In that case not required. All you have to do is update the new one that this mod flashes, the rest should remain the same however.

[Solved] Have any of you guys have Isis working? (Isis fix included)

I've been trying to figure this out for a while I've got it to go past the root check via xPrivacy, but when it's looking for the secure element on my sim card it fails
Has anyone else tried it?
I'm running on ViperOne 3.1 RC2
EDIT:
I've got everything working (I just haven't tried paying yet) and I'm currently running Viper 3.1 RC2. So I'm not sure if it'll work on other roms, and if you update you'll have to flash this zip again of course.
The Zip doesn't seem to work, just unpack it and push the files manually.
Prerequisites:
- Root
- Custom recovery
- Xposed Framework
- Either xPrivacy or Isis root bypass
What's included:
- libnfc.so
- libnfc_jni.so
- libnfc_ndef.so
- org.simalliance.openmobileapi.jar
- SmartCardServiceGP.apk
- Nfc.apk
- nfcee_access.xml
the nfcee xml has the isis, t-mobile, and google keys included if we ever need that.
The files were pulled from Nocturnal's 3.24.531.3 deodexed stock rom
I haven't tested this zip but I used Rishik999 Guide on how to make a flashable zip, either way make sure to BACKUP!
Not sure if you'll have to fix permissions also, as I did this manually through ADB and thought I'd make a zip to make things easier for everyone
Before running Isis make sure you have root bypassed via the Xposed module Isis Root bypass or xPrivacy
Reboot, and enjoy Isis!

Ok i found out the issue. It looks like we can only use tmobile made roms for it to work. I tried all roms but decided to flash a tmobile variant roms and it started to works.

I actually was curious if it was rom related so I used the ruu to flash back to stock tmobile one. I used the stock one from over seas but that was still a no go.

Hmmm I see, I tried one of the leaked official 4.3 roms on here, but it still didn't work, but then again I did a dirty flash I might try wiping, or doing what it actually says and calling them
i used an oficial one 4.3 what error are you getting? i tried calling them they are having an issue with the new update. I just cant wait till we get 4.4 kit kat so we can finally and hopefully use google wallet because isis sucks. i get error 7006 after trying to register.
I was able to get it to work on the tmobile stock Rom. I had to install the Isis root bypass module in the expose installer so it wouldnt detect my root.
were you ever able to get it working on Viper? been trying but can't get past the sim card pop up even tho i have the new isis sim from t-mobile...

Mind linking to the rom thread? I can't seem to get the stock rom to work after boot, the touchscreen doesn't work at all.

Same here, I've gotten my sim card swapped out a few times, and it doesn't seem to detect it at all, even with a modified nfcee access xml file which has the signatures, I can't tell what to change to get it to work :/

I got the sim card swapped out also a couple of times but only got it to work with the official stock rom until someone figures something out or until we get kit Kat which by then we can use Google wallet again finally. Heres the link to, the ruu I used http://www.htc.com/us/support/news.aspx?p_id=630&p_name=htc-one-t-mobile

So no luck running it even on a stock rooted rom? That's a bummer :/
I can't get the stock rom to run properly on my device so I can't really test it
Alright guys I've got it working, I downloaded a stock 3.24.531.3 rom from Nocturnal's website and copied some things over
Not sure what exactly was what made it work.
I copied over:
libncf.so
libnfc_jni.so
libnfc_ndef.so
org.simalliance.openmobileapi.jar
SmartCardServiceGP.apk
But it didn't work until pushed nfc.apk
I've just not created an account, I'll test it out later.
I pushed these files using adb, but I don't see why Root Explorer wouldn't work or something similar.

Great to hear... I was up late at night trying to figure someway to get it to work. Where exactly are those files located if you don't mind.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
The libs are in system/lib
The jar is in /system/framework
The apks in system/app
There's also the nfcee xml I modified, that's under system/etc I'll do a full writeup and edit my first post once I get home
But the nfcee xml has the keys for isis and t-mobile so you should need that. And yeah I'm running viper still

[MOD|Flashable] ZTE Theme Store

Introduction:
As we all know, the A2017U, and G come bundled with a few themes and that's it. Well, the Axon 7, Chinese variant, not only includes more, but also a theme store that you can download from. This thread contains packages from the Chinese ROM that will enable your phone to use the theme store with a small caveat--you have to register for a ZTE Account (more on that below) and log in to it in order to download themes. ZTE's theme engine is pretty basic and doesn't really allow for much customization, but anything is a welcome addition to what we currently have.
What ZTE's theme solution does:
-Changes Icons
-Changes wallpaper
-Basic color schemes for settings, and some ZTE apps
-Changes Lockscreen appearance
Procedure
First, you'll need to register an account here. It is all in Chinese, so I would suggest using Google Translate so that you can understand what you're doing. You'll need to click the "email registered" tab because registering with your phone number will not work. Once you have registered and validated your account, you can use it to log in to the theme store on your phone and begin downloading themes.
Current issues
ZTE's dynamic lock screen doesn't allow you to swipe to unlock your phone when you have notifications and they're visible. What you'll need to do is to tap the "bell" icon to hide your notifications in order to swipe to unlock. Fingerprints bypass this. I'm sure someone talented can decompile the two lock screen apps and figure out how to change this. I won't be doing it.
Download: ZTE-A2017-ThemeStoreMOD-by-freeza_DrakenFX
This flashable will include the following:
ZTE Account
Theme Store
Lock Screen Framework
ZTE Lock Now
app permissions whitelist so these apps should automatically be granted the proper permissions
Thanks
DrakenFX for being awesome, giving me the idea to try this, and giving me the ZTE Account registration link.
Great work! I know this a stretch but wondering if this works on LOS or RR?
EDIT: Finally tried it on RR. It didn't work. Guess it's only for stock atm.

I guess there isn't a stock theme in there, but maybe there is. Could someone confirm?
All I want is a ZIP that gives me a dark theme for apps like Settings. I don't really want to install all this just to get access to a theme store that may or may not have a dark theme. If anybody spots one in there and can make a ZIP out of it, I'll be eternally grateful.
Sorry for the noob question, but how do I install this?
@freeza, is this a lock screen, could you share the theme name to download.
@freeza it's ok on A2017U 7.0, but seem not work well on A2017U 7.1.1 .
@freeza
How to flash this on stock 7.1.1
with twrp as mount system as read only??
Or
With stock recovery
Should i need root or not
Also should i disable system write protection
I flashed this once in twrp as mount system as read-only but after flashing device stay in in the warning screen like forever

Were you rooted? or which variant are you? IF you can give a little more info, it wont be so hard to help
I registered with email, but logging in, in the app, only allows logging in with a phone number. What?
Edit: Nevermind, tapping "others" in the bottom left allows logging in by email.
Edit 2: And am I just doing something wrong, or do the icon packs not work? I thought it might just be an issue with Nova Launcher, but the icon themes don't seem to work on the stock launcher either.
Edit 3: I just noticed there's an app called Screen Lock installed now (which does exactly what it's name says) did that come as a part of this installer?

Nope,
After I applied the theme
- Lockscreen is applied for a few second, then be replace again by stock android lockscreen (not ZTE lockscreen)
- The quick setting panel not change color follow the theme, even the setting did

There's other ways, Im just not sure what's in the zip. You can check what's in the zip, what gets flashed to your system and then use root explorer or something similar to manually delete the apk/files that were flashed. Be careful though. Definitely backup before you do that.

[ZIP][FLASHABLE][8.0&7.0]Project Deep Clean - Keep only what you actually use

Long story short, this is a zip to debloat your S8 and probably other Samsung devices. Please modify it to suit your firmware. *As long as your rom is from Samsung, regardless of nougat or oreo, most of the package names should be the same thus this zip should still remove quite a lot of them by default, you will need some minor edits to match your rom perfectly though.
The attached zip is what I'm currently using, there's something that I had commented out because I use that feature and never tried disabling it. Please feel free to experiment with it and modify the script as per your need. However, do pay close attention to some of the lines as activating them will cause your phone fail to boot.
If you had any error or knowledge about what certain file does, please provide feedback so that we can improve this script. The ultimate goal is to know what we can stripe off from TouchWiz ROM until close AOSP state without breaking features that we use, that includes .apk files, files of any format and even related lines in build.prop.
Also, for anyone who wishes to use this script in any way, please feel free to do so. No need to inform or give credit.
Since I do not backup my file before testing, I'm using Github to do this for me. The most updated version will be on Github.
For more information please visit Github.

After this zip your phone will be left with:
Stock Samsung Audio (Adapt sound, SoudAlive, etc)
Stock Samsung AOD
Stock Samsung Calculator
Stock Samsung Calendar
Stock Samsung Camera & all plugin
Stock Samsung Clock
Stock Samsung Contacts
Stock Samsung Device maintenance w/ McAfee removed
Stock Samsung Gallery & related editor
Stock Samsung Game Launcher & services
Stock Samsung Live wallpaper picker
Stock Samsung Messages
Stock Samsung Music
Stock Samsung Phone
Stock Samsung Smart capture (Screenshot w/ crop, drawing features)
Stock Samsung Launcher
Stock Samsung Video Player
Samsung Desktop Smart Switch support .apk file
Google play etc among some preloads
And some files that IDK what they do/what will happen after removal
Over hundred of apk files will be removed.
Theme center and Samsung account will also be removed, if you want to use theme, please comment them out before flashing.
They can be removed after you applied your theme and will stick after reboot. This is what I did too.
How do i add themestore and remove it after applying theme? Also, flash in twrp?
Got it working nvm. Awesome work!

I do expect people here to experiment with it, as I said in Github this is not (completely) noob-friendly.
You can cross check the script with your ROM, majority of the Samsung preloaded app will be the same, the difference usually is carrier apps. Maybe I shouldn't mention that I'm using AQL5.
XDA developer yeah, not XDA noobs.

You can even delete folder/file one by one by using terminal/root explorer according to my updater-script, that shouldn't make much of a difference.

System space is quite useless, but it makes people like me feel better when useless stuff is actually gotten rid of.
Plus it is able to remove files, that's beyond the ability of package disabler.

This script doesn't remove the function that allows you to draw on your screenshot cause I'm using that too, one of the actually handy feature added by Samsung...
The reboot part, I'm not sure. Somehow when I try to add back apks directly to system via explorer, my /data partition gets corrupted with
Code:
persist.security.tlc.otp structure needs cleaning
in TWRP, only format data fixes this, and this happened to me twice so I'd recommend you to flash them in instead using the rescue zip template I provided in Github.
The script is really good, I just read it line by line but since I see some issues reported for some people I prefer to try it out later
Edit: i was thinking on replace all Samsung needed apps with Google ones like phone and dialer, anyone knows a port from those?
