Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I need help! My Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (i545). Tried flashing a new ROM (CMod 9) but got error on Odin and after restart get the error message. Please Help!!!

If Odin still connects you can flash the stock ROM and start over again.

I agree. Restore back to stock and retry. Links in my sig should help you.

Why were you trying to flash CM9? That doesnt even exist for are phone. You should really check what you are downloading and file names before you just go and flash it.

^this. they are completely different.

Hey guys I'm having the same issue. I rooted my phone and tried to flash CM but it didn't seem to work. I get the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I'm still able to get to odin and it is recognized but fails every time I try to load the tar via Odin. Any help would be much appreciated!

Whatever.
You did some **** that you shouldn't have done without reading first. If you had done any damn research you would know why the i9100 screen pops up. And it isn't because your phone thinks its an i9100.
Its covered in the stickies in this forum section. Open your eyes and read.

No one can help you unless you provide enough useful information about what you have done. You should have read and learned enough to avoid making a mistake in the first place, but if you will tell us what you have done, maybe you'll get some help. What exactly did you flash with Odin? Provide a link to it? You did not get the warning on boot from flashing stock. What method did you use to try to enter download mode? To try to enter Recovery?

Not familiar with that particular file, but we have seen a multitude of problems from flashing firmware provided by galaxys2rootdotcom. Please use an archive program to open the tar and list the contents back here. (I don't want to download 387MB just to look at it.)

That's not a galaxys2root produced file. That is the straight stock Kies file which they downloaded from SamFirmware or Samsung Updates. That didn't cause the problem.
You say you can now not enter either download mode or recovery?
Don't do a wipe data with that installed if you do get into recovery!

I'm not sure why your phone is having problems. You should be able to just flash stock and start over. If it were my phone, I would flash UCKH7 stock plus root, install a Gingerbread custom kernel, and then pick a firmware from the development forum. If you choose to follow that path, be sure to open the Oden window first before putting your phone into download mode. If you need additional information, there is plenty of help in the guides and threads linked in my signature.

No one asked you to or needs you to be the morality police. It's one thing to discourage someone from just getting Verizon to swap a phone out every time there is a hiccup instead of actually trying to fix it, but there is no need for your piety. The guy was doing all he could to fix it and he would not be in this position if Verizon/Samsung would just let us have the access we want.
do you have a recovery menu or are you still in stock recovery?

Yeah, what he asked. What happened when you tried to flash that?
If you had a good download, it should have flashed OK.
Specifically, what shows up in ODIN and what shows up on the phone when you tried the flash? If that image can't be flashed, then something's seriously wrong. Note that it's a big image, and can be difficult to download cleanly through some ISPs.
i try to unzip and always gives me an error, i found one thanks

[Q] I pulled a Stupid. Help please? (g870a boot problems)

I recently updated my g870a to the latest and not-so-greatest build.
I didn't like the way it felt, and being the way I am, I tried to do things myself.
So I downloaded Odin and tried to flash the previous update (4.4.4), but I pulled a stupid and soft-bricked it after flashing it. I decided to be stubborn and I fiddled around with the recovery boot and probably screwed it over even more.
Can anybody please help me out? I Would like to get my phone back in working order :/

Just a little bit of troubleshooting to check the situation, see if this can help.
Where did you get the firmware to downgrade it? What Odin version are you using? Was the flashing successfull? Do you have a custom recovery?

Sammobile -> Firmware -> Search for your device. It's important to know where did you get the firmware, because AT&T is strange to work with. Do you still have the zip you flashed? See if this is your case, but don't flash anything yet:

I don't care how you get it to work, as long as it works and I can use it for phone calls and such. I tried to get safe strap on there, it didn't work. Tried Odin, didn't work. I'm a bit frazzled at this point.
