Moon rom help, guidance, and off topic thread. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Alright, alright, alright. So I have been thinking that Lacoursiere18, has been overly nice with letting us ask for eta's, off topic posts, and the same question being asked multiple times. Sometimes by me even.:screwy: So I was thinking that a general thread to keep the hysteria down might work out well. I, and I am sure others will be more than happy to help out in this thread. That way when an eta is coming down the pipe, I don't get my hopes up, only to be dashed by a simple question. I like helping people out, and will be giving(hopefully receiving) advice/tips/memes about moon rom. I know his thread is chillax, but we can cut up here more.
1. How to change apn settings to fix mms
In system/etc/apn-conf.xml change all the mmsc lines to:mmsc="http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=8605551212"But with your phone number instead of 8605551212
2. Video player refuses to work in tablet mode when the dpi dips below 200. When you first boot the rom, switch to phablet, then back to tablet, and you will be at 200 dpi, and video player works in tablet mode. Simple one, but it took me a minute to figure it out.
3. Anyone who likes photowall live wallpaper, I posted a working version located here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42903230
4. For increasing volume for those that have low volume.
Thank waco2hot33 for this one folks
Use root explorer and go to system >etc and replace the default.gain file with this one ..would be a good idea to just make the old one a .bak file just to be safe.. change permissions to rw-r-r and reboot Profit. http://db.tt/PzWn5Om5
P.S. please unzip the file first ..
5. Floating keyboard mod created by xperiacle.

Edit: None of the fixes I came up with. I take no credit for any of them, jist a simple way of me helping the developers who give us so much.

This was a good idea !! Now some place to kick back and relax ...while you wait bit do have a question is there any other fix besides not closing the contacts when in tablet mode been found yet ?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Sorry guy, back on v2 because I am getting ready to travel. Still have a v3 nandroid. You know, I didnt have any problems with contacts. I tried closing it from recents, and closing it when in window mode, and had no problems. I didn't try to force it too much though. I don't think anyone is really trying ro fix it because v3.5, or 4 will be out so soon.
Yeah, a good place to kick back, and relax. I worked in the rain all day fencing in part of my yard all redneck like. Now when people come over to walk my dogs, they will leave with both arms. My ***** can pull so hard, you'd have thought you died.

Yes I've tried it with sound mods in aroma and with no sound mods...both clean flashes. Not even the extra volume button in the dialer screen works for me. Any help?

Another thing I noticed is Contacts crashes in Phone mode. But works flawlessly in tablet and phablet mode.

I have not had any problems with sound. When I use the mods, it is overbearing. Tested again earlier, and my phone is just as loud as my wife's rooted stock GN2. My son iand I played spygames as a test. We traded back and forth. Not the most scientific, but what do you expect on the 3rd of July? I can not recreate it, so I have trouble tracking down the problem here. I guess push come to shove, you could always use a volume booster app from the playstore.

This typically happens when you choose tablet contacts, and then try and use phone mode. You have to be decisive when you choose which you want. There is also the bug with contacts in v3, but again, I never had a problem with that. I hope this answers your question.

If I choose the mid volume tweak, my phone is so loud people look at me funny. I wish I could be more help.
Now my question of the day is how exactly do flashable zips work. I know I can download plenty of them, and mod them for what I want, but if anyone can point me in the direction of a good explanation, I would appreciate it.
@lacoursiere18, glad you are cool with this. Super stoked that we have your rom. Like I said, I am po right now, so any way I can help. Again, you ever need a tester, I got 2 of these in my house, and willing to brick one just for your amusement. Thanks brother

Thanks for your help bro. Unfortunately that didn't assist me nor did a complete restore to stock, wiping internal and external storage just in case there was a file intercepting with the rom.. and while phone volume is loud, my in-call audio is still low! Don't get it, I wanna run MOON ROM TOO?!?!

I feel you BornDroid. I am looking across the interwebs to try and figure it out. The app is the best I can offer up. Why don't you try calling your phone feom a landline, and check the volume for me. I have rwad that if you do this, it sometimes fixes low volume. I know it is a long shot, but it is all I got right now. I will keep looking, keep looking yourself, and hopefully we can track it down
Edit-What are your aroma steps? What choices are you making during the install? It might be one of the aroma steps since this is a new ug not many have. Just trying to narrow down the culprit because lile I said me, amd my son switched phones back and forth, and called one another, and had good in call volume on both.
Does anyone else have trouble typing after switching from your phone to your tablet? My spelling is atrocious, and I blame it on that.

The vibrant is basically just the I9000 (form factor wise anyways).
The mounting stuff was not taken out, just the camera itself, so our hack to get the FFC working is just to snap it in & install a new kernel that supports it.
The I9000 didn't have a flash, so it's not that easy for the vibrant. It doesn't have anything to mount it to or anywhere to plug it in at all.
So, if it's possible, it would probably be a significant hack to accomplish.
Thanks Dude. I figured that if it could be done it wuld have already been done. Oh well I wait till August and get whatever is out then.

this is why all the devs left XDA and started all their own forums because the amount of useless new threads opened is pathetic. Even Cyanogen doesnt mess w/ XDA anymore becazuse ppl dont bother to read anymore....they should remove the new thread button in vibrant android dev forum unless u register as android dev and a MOD approves u...this has gotten waaaaaaaay out of hand
I've been working on a custom mod of mine own with 3 led on my back plate and cover everything with a external another back cover. I'm almost done with the project.

That is the kind of arrogance that makes me glad of the types that left. Yes theres a FAQ, and yes, there are a few that wont read it. Honestly, the FAQ (at least in the vibrant forum) is a frakin mile long! I can easily see how someone may miss it. Informative yes, but give people a break! Not to mention the breakup into 4 separate sub-forums ect ect, its easy for someone new or doesnt come often to not find their way around well.
Been going on for years, and will persist after you leave.
It's not a completely stupid or worthless question because I see it as do-able. I'm no dev...nor have I worked with the hardware on this phone, but I have thought about integrating a luminous LED as part of the flash. I think it could be as simple as finding th current that turns the camera lens on and integrating the LED power into it. Even if it doesn't 'Flash'...it's still a 'flash' equivalent lighting setting.
The FFC was do-able...I think someone can make a suitable flash for our camera.
Makes me want to work on it myself...
I spent a good 10-15 minutes in the camera app trying to figure out how to turn on flash before I realized the phone didnt have a flash on it! What a surprise damn you samsung!

course a flash would be lovely.but realistically the request to some how install a flash even when no original i9000 variant have a flash built into the unit to simply snap in is ridiculous. lollll
Don't be so quick to judge, I myself have wondered what if this phone had a flash. Honestly, it'd be friggin sweet! That goes without saying.
@Haxel: Awesome points, great attitude!
@p unit: I'm intrigued by your project, have you thought about somehow incorporating an LED flash into an extended battery back plate? More battery life, and maybe since the cover is bigger, you might have more room to work with on fitting a flash in.
good luck!

They are talking about a physical flash a light. not the light software program.
I thought it was a great question since the Fascinate has one. I don't see why having a moderator approve your question would be necessary, since none of the questions would ever get posted since they are questions that are usually way below their intelligence level. Let's be honest here, we as junior members look to developers, kangers and such for advice, guidance, and help. Having an attitude toward the people that look up to you for your knowledge, is pompous, arrogant, and simple minded. If you think there are too many questions, then don't read the posts (you should know what it's about by the title anyway). If you don't have anything to contribute other than a bad attitude, then don't respond and the rest of us will learn the hard way. You guys who don't want to read our questions weren't born with the knowledge you have, so don't assume that just because someone has a question, doesn't mean they haven't tried. Give some of us the benefit of the doubt. We don't all have our faces crushed into a computer screen all day you know........

I have been looking for a mini usb led light

In search of a call recorder

One of the Dev's on here pointed me in this direction. Been testing program after program and all seem to use the mic to record the other side of the call. In other words, I have to use the speakerphone for it to work. Does anyone have a solution that will work on EVO 4G?
I was recently using a Collective Rom that had a built in call recorder app. I didn't need to use the speakerphone, and it recorded very well. I'm using a MT4G though...
I believe it was called Collective Absolution. It was ported onto my phone though so look around, maybe they have it for yours. Check and see the Collective roms for your phone. I remember I installed it through the Collective phone settings(their version of the CM9 settings).
Hope I helped.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I've read a few downer threads that talk about HTC phones having problems with this type of application. I don't know if it's still the same now but several threads indicated that HTC doesn't allow their API CPU talk to the Modem CPU (I think that's how it was put...I may be wrong). Anyway...I don't know. I've also seen some people report that the capability was built into some ROM's out there. If what I read was correct, I don't think any particular ROM will be able to solve the issue because of the type of phone I have. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Hmm I'm not sure. From my experience the main problem, at least on my phone, was always that the recording didn't always record both sides. Some people's phones recorded everything perfectly as they spoke, but some others had a problem where it would only record one side of the conversation, either them speaking or the other person but not both. I don't remember any of the technical problems about why that was the case though, this was a few months back.
I'll see if I can extract the apk that rom installed for me and post it here for you. I'm not sure if it's going to install and work immediately on your phone or if you'll have to do something with it to get it working, but it's worth a shot.
Update: Here's the link to the apk.

What people need to realize, asking the question is fine, answering 50 times ticks them off, most questions are answered in the first three posts and people refuse to read and search, Google your questions add xda to it, you'll find something. Seems like everyone wants to be lazy and ***** about stuff. It's free and your getting stuff that no one has yet. Take it for what it is, be thankful. Almost every question you can think of has been asked a million times already. Follow the threads from the start. You won't have any problems or questions. All these roms are basically the same. That volume problem has been there since day one of jelly bean.

Actually I don't find this as true. Some Devs will even get ticked off if you even ask a question about customizing their work. Trust me. Been there and done that. Anymore even I won't post in the development section. Most Devs are cool with this though.

If a dev took a request from everyone who asked the ROM but crazy. Building a ROM is not difficult, I learned how to build cm10 from guides online. From there you can figure out how to add features you want.
I have no problem answering real questions in any of my threads and if the question is good I put it in the second post with all the other questions. Like dafoxs said, the only time i get annoyed is when people ask the same question on every page even though the answer for it is a couple posts up or in the 2nd post.
I am no a dev so I can't help people add in crazy options that they want, I just build what real devs create. For your vol issues OP, just up and down the vol slider, set the notifications you want and that's it, all will work.

[Q] Insufficient Storage

I'm getting a lot of insufficient storage messages when trying to download new apps or update old ones. I've tried formatting, reinstalling the ROM, clearing data/cache, clearing market data/cache, and still nothing. I'm also unable to move my apps to SD card, the app I use gives me an error saying that the phone doesn't support it. Any ideas?
Are you rooted? Which app are you using to move apps?
like iampro said, are you rooted? what rom are you on? what app are you using to move your apps to the sd card? apps2sd doesn't work from what i understand, but foldermount does i think.
Yes I'm rooted, running liquid Rom. I've tried numerous app 2ad apps that I was able to install. I was unable to try foldermount because I can't install it.

I am having the same issue but no one will answer on these forums... I found out that a while ago. Trying to find a solution gonna ask Virus on my infectedrom.com account as they always answer your questions. Seem to get left in the wind over here. Not sure I should have went Samsung if I would have known this. If I find a solution will post back. Try Busy Box. I couldn't install that either but can install other apps.

I take at least a bit of offense with your statement 'no one will answer on these forums'. There are many people at least trying to offer assistance. Where I have something to add I try, but there are many problems I've never had and have no idea on so I usually stay quiet. No need to clutter up the forums with 'no idea/ sort of posts.

I totally understand where your coming from, but look at the forums for this problem. It's everywhere with basically no answers. Seems like it would be more fitting to at least reply to a thread asking a question or else pretty much looks like no one cares... see my point? I haven't cluttered up any posts but if you look at the date they were having this problem and today's date seems like there would at least be some sort of response. If you asked a question and no one replied what would u think? you would rather have that then someone actually reply and try to help if they could or at least try and point you in the right direction? I am not trying to insult anyone as the devs work really hard at making roms and mods and so on. I am also a dev(only done wake up mods and small flash fixes, not claiming to be the best or anywhere near that by anymeans lol) haven't filled out the app but I have tried to look at it myself as well. That being said I would rather have a response than nothing at all. As I work mad hours doing IT/Programming. And no response just looks like no one cares not saying it is true just my personal opinion.
Sorry to offend you as that was not my intent. I try and help anyone I can as well. Just have more experience with HTC.

No worries. I would hope that someone who has solved the problem would pipe up. May just be nobody has found a solution.
And, yes, I have seen posts about issues similar to this and, sorry, have no idea whatsoever.

No problem I appreciate your insight, I think I may have found a way around this. Gonna try it and will post back instructions if it works. If not I have a second method which will take longer but would work. So its not a total loss and hopefully I will help some people out as well. : ) . :cyclops:

How about a screen shot of your storage view? I kind of suspect that you have multiple backups on your phone

They should already be there. I posted them a while ago. Let me do it again. One sec
Screen Shots
Here are the screen shots. There shouldn't be 2 backups as I didn't even do 1. I did a titanium backup but I even erased that data to see if it would fix nothing .Thanks for any and all help in advance
Its suspicious that it only shows just under 10gb total...shouldnt it be like 14gb internal?

Can you get to the view that I attached?

VS985 AZADI ROM no Mobile data on 35b

Hi guys, I installed the 35b and the latest azadi rom following all the instructions and i dont have movile data at all, calls are normal, on screen notifications the message: "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless", I really like this ROM so i´m very sad, i´m in Colombia in Movistar service, thanks for any help,
You might change the title of the thread to include the carrier you're using since it's possible only people who use this phone on that carrier would know what specifically to do to make the phone work with the carrier, if possible.
Did the phone previously work with this carrier on another ROM you had flashed or on completely stock?

Yeah, anybody know what happened? I was getting ready to install Azadi .... now the thread is MIA. I've only heard good things about the ROM. I hope this is just a fluke that an Admin can correct.

She posted in the CM13 thread that she sometimes hates XDA and something like that all Android users are stupid:

Maybe it's related to that.
I don't fault her to be honest. I see the attitude not just here on XDA but in real life with certain people showing little to no respect at all towards others who have put long hard hours working away from family/friends/etc only to be treated like crap and "ooohhhh why doesn't this have this feature like other thing has you need to have that feature."
I'dont get it...it was the best MM rom for that phone. Of course u are gonna get many folks asking for this feature or to do this and that...there are so few roms and this is the most popular. Its a given when u post your stuff to a site like this.
Its like whining about youtube comments....deal with it, get used to it. Ignore it. Real idiots is ones who throw a tantrum, or give a giant middle finger and fume their way off a site blaming others.... BUt they can choose to delete their stuff if they want to, still a **** move. So she switches to an iphone and no longer wants to dev Android...ok....so update the rom thread to say discontinued, and lock it. Simple. But nooooo....to bad. Least I had the files saved.
Even more sickening is that people 'thanked' that snotty reply by bschmidy.

I use @xdabbeb 's stock rooted 47A firmware with maximum debloating. Debloat zips [UNSTRIKE]and link to @joshua70448 's nice online custom debloat zip generator[/UNSTRIKE] (was down but it's up right now) in the third post of that thread, or in my signature below. I use Nova Prime launcher along with G3TweaksBox, Flast Style Bar Indicators and Greenify Xposed modules (the last one with aggressive doze), and a few others.
While I do want to give Fulmics a try if they ever resolve the reported US 4G issues on the vs985, the 47A rom seems to be working out great. My only "issue" at the moment is that it seems to suck down battery a LOT more (when active) than it did on KitKat - standby is fine.

Ugh, it's amazing how one or two bad apples spoil it for everyone... Azadi was an awesome ROM.
Does anyone happen to have an archived copy of the last build? (2129 I believe, came out a day or two before the thread was deleted) -- I was waiting for it, got sucked up in real life things, then it was gone.
Okay, I can't keep my mouth shut anymore.
Out of the blue, RoxanaSchram posted in the CM13 a rant that I, for one, didn't even understand what she was referring to. This was only the most recent time she had expressed a desire to leave XDA and to go back to iPhone. My impression of her post is that she was rude and disrespectful. Hate XDA? Can't wait to go back to iPhone? What was keeping her? If she did hate XDA and couldn't wait to leave, why was she posting on XDA about it at all, and why in the CM13 thread?
Even before the other person's response to her first post, I thought something similar. "Well, see you!"
It was RoxanaSchram who chose to leave XDA. She was already on her way out - she said so. Noone pushed her. RoxanaSchram is the only one who's responsible for deleting her ROM thread. If you want to blame someone, blame the person who did it - her! Noone else made her do it. Noone else made her delete (or hide) her G3 files from Android File Host.
But somehow you people manage to blame anyone but the only person who's responsible for these things. Roxana. Sure, a few of us have remarked to her initial offending post in like kind. If anything, I felt that responses to her have been fairly restrained. If she doesn't have respect for XDA or it's users (need I remind you her claim about Android users being idiots?), then she should've just gone somewhere else and not posted off topic in the CM13 thread about it.
I keep waiting for users to stop mentioning the whole thing. Somehow, once a day or so, someone manages to make sure the issue is still alive, and here I am doing the same thing so now I'm guilty of it. I'm just tired of Roxana not being held accountable for her actions and the blame being put on others.
Good day.

I may know someone to contact for your question above....(uhhhh me) However, I'm not sure what the XDA rules are about reposting and/or distributing something like that. I certainly enjoy being here in the forum and want to follow the necessary guidelines. So if a moderator wants to clarify on want is acceptable, I would be glad to share Buzzy.
Actually, since the files still exist on AFH in public domain I assume it's fine

I take no credit for this ROM, just re-posting links that were already created by Roxana Schram. This ROM was designed by RoxanaSchram....
Without quoting anyone in case there's an issue, I'll just say thanks for the posts, and I apologize for my part in keeping this going. I just assumed (I know, I know) there had been a blowup in the support thread as there had been occasionally before. Sounds like there must be a bit more to it, though, so I'll just be quiet in my uninformed state.
But thanks b00ster!
