I know this has been wrote many times before but im really stuck here as the information givent o repair a corrupt imei seems to be for the us version of the phone
I recently rooted and flashed my sons phone (done others before)
except this time it has a default imei number 0049 ?
I cant repair the imei and he deleted the efs backup from the memory card
I have read all the tuts and watched countless vids on utube . but I cant get rf nv item manager to find the phone . theres no com port for the phone , even though when flashing with odin it shows a port and uses it .
it is dead forever or does it have to go in for repair
please help someone

It is posted here at least twice a day for this model too
Essentially no EFS, you're looking at sending it for repair but samsung CAN repair it

You're not using a qualcomm based phone. You have an Exynos based phone (quad core)

that's what I thought but didn't want to sound stupid from the get go

No worries.
But yeah only 2 choices. Restore EFS backup or send for repair and you've ruled out the former.
Do reset flash counter with triangle away if its at 1 though

triangle away cant reset the flash counter below 1 .
and whats the chance of the phone been repaired in the uk . I think they will just refuse stating its blocked ,
it was at first something on the lines of 789789789784 after flashing a stock o2 rom to the phone it has the default 0049 imei . and no network signal at all .

If it has a Jellybean bootloader, the flash counter sets back to one upon every boot. So to use triangle away succesfully, you must either:
1) Use triangle away, but prevent the phone rebooting afterwards by pulling the battery (tricky to time right)
2) Flash stock, root with CF auto root, then reset counter. There would be nothing to increase teh flash counter. Then use SuperSU app to remove root (long winded, almost counter intuitive)
Is it actually blocked? They don't look at the phone to see if it is blocked, they look at the network. Loads of people wipe their EFS so don't worry, you're nowhere near the first to do this. You probably weren't even the first yesterday to do this.

no i dont have my efs backup
oh well just use the phone as MP3 player Camera etc
Or search the restore IMEI threads / restore EFS folder threads might even be in the stickies section .
Next time follow rule one Back up your EFS first ..Rule two is understand before you flash what you are doing as it saves another brick in the SGS2 wall .

If you have root, try this tool if it doesnt work, flash your phone back to stock, reset the flash counter with a USB jig and send it to samsung saying that it suddenly stopped working.
If you have never flashed a custom rom, then just send it back to samsung (Make sure the flash counter is 0 and you have no yellow triangle and that its on the firmware your phone came with)

Your situation is potentially a semi brick, your efs folder has got corrupted and if you don't have any backup of it you are screwed royally, you will have to give it to the service center guys for repair so , reset counter, flash stock and act dumb, if you are still on warranty, otherwise you are stuck with a expensive music and video player, even your wifi must have also got corrupted right?? The efs folder holds the wifi address along with imei number and stuff. There are some recovery applications, try your luck or good luck at the service center.

[Q] IMEI completely gone

I was been having some problems with the charging of mi SGS3 and decided to put it back into stock rom and use my warrenty to fix it.
When I was flashing to the stock rom, it failed and everything on my phone was gone. After hours of trying I finally found a ROM that worked (4.0. one). Even that ROM doesn't work properly (+ its in fabrication mode or something)
NOW
the most important thing is that my IMEI was gone too, completely, no recovering via EFS, tis COMPLETELY gone. Is there a way to put it back in? I still have is (back of my phone), is there a way to just put it back in the efs folder or something? I have been searching the forum for days.. NO result, so I decided to post a thread myself. I did come across a link to a thread but it seems to be deleted?
I really hope somebody can help me... Hate using a backup phone, I want to smash it!
Thanks!
PS: it is a GT-i9300 and I'm from Belgium if that helps with anything.

Ok thanks man.. and what if i bring it to the shop where i bought it (they will send it up to samsung), would i risk it?flashing is allowed in europe i think...
no, flashing in EU doesn't void the warranty if something else is the cause of the problem. in your case, flashing IS the cause of it.

As true as that is, in practice it is not always that clear cut. Loads of Europeans get conned out of warranty repairs for having customised their phone.

FYI: I took contact with the closest Samsung center, explained the issue and they told me they will try to fix it under warranty.
Just one last question, if i set the binary counter to 0, is there any way they will notice I did flash it?

[Q] No Network Signal after flashing

Hi
I decided to try one of the leaked 4.2.2 roms for my Samsung galaxy S3
I made a nandroid backup in CMW recovery before doing so
Flashed the rom and all worked ok but would not connect to my network (EE/Orange UK)
I tried another custom rom same story
Ok so i thought i better recover my nanroid recovery
booted into CMW and it cant mount the SD card
So i used S3 Toolkitv7 to download a stock rom and flash via odim
Again stock rom will not connect to EE/orange
So now im truely stuck
Help

What is your IMEI showing (DON'T PUT THE WHOLE NUMBER, only the first 7 digits)
IMEI is in Settings --> Device --> Status

If your IMEI is unknown that's why you're not registering on the network and with no efs backup that's a problem.

See my previous reply.
0049990 is a generic IMEI if your efs gets deleted/corrupted..it won't register on the network.

I flashed EE stock firmware and also followed the guide on this site for resetting the yellow triangle
Sent it back to Phones 4 you they had it for nearly 1 month
But got it back fixed and done under warranty
Next job to backup the IMEI
You couldve just flash Mg4 baseband, because your efs partition was changed. Because the latest MG4 baseband does that. Read Efs /IMEI sticky in general section.

You say yours is neither mg4 or mg2 correct? well those are the only modems capable of working with the new EFS. perhaps if you flash an MG4 OR MG5 rom. you may be able to get your signal back as long as the EFS folder is not corrupted. It doesnt alway work but I have read that sometimes it does. worth a shot before service center
Nah as long as there is generic imei there won't be any 'catching the signal' AFAIK. Look in sdcards . some ROMs have automatic efs back up scripts maybe you ll get lucky..
