L9 doesn't turn on from stanby or freezes at unlock screen - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

My LG L9 phone wouldn't turn on this morning so I had to remove the battery and insert it again and it worked. However, whenever my phone goes to standby, it will either not respond to any buttons or lock up at the unlock screen. I didn't install any new app and I never had a problem with my phone before... it had rooted 4.0.4 android.
What could be wrong?

Update: I think this is called "sleep of death". The phone can't get out of the deep sleep state and I have to remove the battery once it freezes. The above symptoms don't happen when the phone is plugged in.

I temporarily fixed it by using an app named "Wake My Android Pro". It basically wakes up my phone every 29 seconds.
I wonder if there's a permanent fix other than resetting my phone?

have you remove some google app or lg app ?

It happend to me twice. It freezes or cant be turned on. Anyway I also have problem with "not showing"kleyboard very often when i need to type some text. The keyboard doesnt show up or just for a half of second. Overall the phones is running with lags for like 50% of the time I'm using it.

Irratic S2 - Voice Talk App Launching by itself

Ok first ever post, I seek answers !!!
My S2 has started doing some very odd things -
1st it started returning to the clock desktop screen when pressing the home button instead of returning to the proper home screen, now its randomly launching into the Voice talk app screen by itself ?? I have tried a full reset and removed all non standard apps and this hasnt solved the problem.
Battery Drain is full to 0 in about 3 hours with limited use and if I turn it off it actually turns itself back on by itself !
Any ideas, Im assuming its ****** !
Great phone up until this point !
mine starts the voice command by itself too. its irritating at times. Also i have noticed that my battery drains faster than usual. Not sure why its causing
mine has bee launching that damned voice talk thing, too. it normally happens when i preas the home button, and it drives me nuts hecause it even talks aloud when i expect the phone to be silent. (where's the freaking global mute??)
Well if you press the Home button twice then Voice Talk will start. To reduce battery drainage, go to settings, Un-check Use location and Wake Up command. And disable Car mode when not needed,
Sorry, I forgot to edit my post (was going to before i got distracted by other tasks), but I meant to take out the "when I press the home button" part since it was redundant. What I meant was that it happens when I press it just once. I understand that double press launches it, it's why it annoys so much when it launches with just one press.

did you guys ever get a fix for this? cause i get this aswell.. and it's driving me ****ing nuts!!! running KG6
u could try force closing in running apps inside settings/applications/running apps?? i get the same ocasionally and that method seems to work for me?
Have Same problem
I have the same problem as you, my voice talk app is launching very often by it self for me 2. I tried to reset my phone to factory settings but didn't work, and my battery is only lasting for max 12hours+-, depends on my use.
Can se in the battery usage that my phone OS is using 96% battery and screen is using 2% an 2% for something else.(don't remember because im offshore and can't use mobile phone here) normaly the Android OS should use less more than 96%
This is very fustrating!! do annyone know what to do here?? probably root the phone an delete the Voice Talk App ??? or can there be some problem with the phone electronics that makes the phone act this strange??
Hope someone finds this out!!
I love this phone but this is making me crazy!! hehe
Voice talk starting can't turn off solved!!!!!
Was driving me nuts but finally found how to turn off the annoying voice talk by F*****G VERLINGO. Go to Settings, Motion then turn off double tap it has worked for me thank F**K.
My question is... why did all our phones started having the same problem at the same time... I've turned off double tap and it seems to have worked for me too, but that is not a definitive solution, cause it was allways turned on and there were no prob before. My problem started about 3months after i upgraded my phone to ICS.

[Q] Photon phone & apps not working after reboot.

For what ever reason my Photon will stop working or just freezes. At this point it will then restarts by its self or I would have to take the battery out and put it back in. Here is where it gets fun. Now whenthe phone comes on, nothing works. I can press any app and I get no responce. I cant make or recieve any text or calls or anything. Its like the phone is still loading in the back ground. The phone is non responsive for at least30 min. Then when everything finally does start to work, every button I pressed, loads all at once. All of my calls I tried to make just keeps dialing and hanging up over and over with out me even pressing any button, and the phone opens eveeery app I pressed while it was frozen. Please help!!!!!
Are you rooted? Have you unlocked your bootloader? Did you try to flash a ROM? Etc etc. Or are you on a stock phone?
im on a stock phone.
Then it sounds like you have out of the box issues with software. Return and exchange it for a new one. Should solve your issues.

[Q] [HELP]Xperia Mini Pro / SK17i Turning off when locked

I just bought my new sk17i a few days ago, its 11W42 at the back, build number 4.0.2.A.0.58 running android 2.3.4. Unfortunately the phone is unusable as it keeps either turning itself off, or totally locking up (I'm not sure which). It won't re-awaken using either the on/off switch or the home button.
i already tried repairing using SEUS, i even downloaded LockBot Pro from the market coz i was thinking if the problem has sumthin to do with the lockscreen but still its turning off itself after 10sec when locked...zzz
The app u downloaded is for changing the type of lock screen ???
if the phone is new why not go to the source and get a replacement ??
have u tried disabling auto screen lock / sleep ?
and problem description is too vague to even start troubleshooting

yes the app i downloaded changes the type of lock screen, heres the link https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jackdoit.lockbot&hl=en
disable sleep is only available when phone is charging, and i cant seem to find disable lockscreen in settings.
the problem is when my phone goes to sleep mode, or when i lock my phone using the power button, due to unknown reason it doesnt unlock pressing the power button it remains black screen and after a few seconds the SE logo comes up, its like it reboots itself when put to sleep/locked.
maybe it's the app that makes ur phone like that ... try to uninstal the app to see if it work's ( note that not all aplication is work for ur phone ) ...

men it still turns offitself even after fresh repair using SEUS, did repair twice and Flash once, but its turning itself off when put to lock, the only time it does not turn off is when theres an app running when locked.
ok the last thing i can do is to get a replacement from where i bought it,
Uninstall any recently installed locking or system related app if you have installed
make sure that you don't have any antitheft software turned on,if you will try to use another sim then phone will get locked due to anti theft too
make sure batter is charged and properly placed
If you still face the problem of automatic restarting then remove memory card and then try to start the phone
hey. i got the same problem. have u solved the problem? i have flash my phone for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 for several times. and the problem still happens. whats wrong with this phone

Screen on after charging

Hi there!
I have the following problem with my S3 (bualf1 austrian vodafone branding )
The screen stays on after the charger is plugged and the screen turns on after charging is complete!
I've done a factory reset and the problem has seemed to solved, but yesterday the problem has occured again!
I've really tried everything (every option, enabling / disabling everything, uninstalling apps, ...)
When shutting the phone down, the screen reacts as supposed (turns off while charging )
Any suggestion for me?

same problem as mine, occured only once. my workaround is by manually lock the phone (press power button). what kernel you use?
Are you absolutely sure this is not linked to a software you have installed?
There are certain titles that allow you to leave the screen on whilst being charged. Look carefully, it could be quite obscure.
As you said, it cleared when you did a Factory Reset but has now returned ~ thus indicating a recently installed App has resumed the screen on operation.
In reference to the phone coming on when fully charged, that is normal but the most likely reason it is not going back off again is due to whatever App setting you have that is then telling the phone once the screen is on keep it on.

Stock kernel, stock (austrian branded) firmware!
Manually locking works for me, but when den charging is finished the phone's display turns (and stays) on - that is my problem!

Thats the same thinkings i have, but i didn't managed to find out, what app this could be...
the strange thing is, it works as intended when no power source is plugged (screen turns off after 30 seconds), it just doesn't turn off while charging
no idea anyone?

I'm afraid without knowing which Apps you have installed it would be difficult to find the culprit.
If it were me I would do the following:-
1. Factory Reset again only this time do it from Recovery ~ [The recovery mode in Samsung Galaxy S III can be entered by pressing the Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button]
2. From the options provided select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system. You now have a completely cleared system so the next stage is important.....
3. Just install the settings, nothing more and certainly don't let Google Play reinstall your Apps.
4. Connect your power cable and see if once the S3 is charged the screen comes ON to notify you it is charged BUT THE SCREEN THEN TURNS OFF after a brief period. If it does then you at least will know under the basic setup your phone is fine. Now another slow but probably most important bit........
5. Start installing your Apps (say ten at a time) and then reboot your phone when all ten are installed and again start charging the phone.
At this stage we want to see what happens after charging is complete. If all is fine you then know what Apps are installed don't effect the screen ON problem, so continue installing another ten Apps and again reboot the phone and apply the charger to see if once charged the screen turns ON then OFF.
Continue repeating this procedure until you notice after a charge the screen this time does not turn OFF.
6. Right..... you now know the problem is being caused by one of the last ten Apps you installed. So, uninstall each App in turn (making sure you reboot each and every time you uninstall) and again recharge. This should eventually lead to one individual App that has caused the problem (the remaining Apps you uninstalled from the last ten can now be re-installed).
7. Investigate that App thoroughly to see if it alters anything on your phone that is causing the problem. Also name the App so we can look at it too.
It's a slow process granted but it's the only way you are going to find out what is causing the issue.
Basically, if it's happening from a fresh Factory Reset (via Recovery using the methods I mentioned above) then it's an issue directly with the phone.
If all is well then it's an issue with an individual App.
Good Hunting......
Same thing happened to me today and i never noticed it happen before..
Went to plug the phone in and the screen was on so i figured "Oh it will turn off after 15 seconds like usual" came back 5 minutes later still on.... uhh okay, so i hit the power button the screen went off.. I went to the restroom came back.. SCREEN BACK ON AGAIN? hmmm dubya tee eff? Turned it off again with the power button.. This time it stayed off..
Stock firmware latest upgraded 2 days after the 4th of the july.
Which firmware do you have?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Well, that's what i've done:
1.) factory reset
2.) reinstall all settings and mailaccounts
3.) reboot and see if it still works
4.) install and configure 5 apps
5.) reboot and see if it still works
6.) repeat steps 4. und 5. as long as all apps are reinstalled and reconfigured
and so, finally the guilty app was found!
EXTENDED CONTROLS causes the problem, that the screen stays on when a charger is plugged!
Tested it on all 4 own mobiles, all of them are working as normal again!!!
THANKS BEARD!!!

S3 screen wakes up Intermittenyly

Screen wakes up intermittently. Specifically when an operation is done and the phone goes to sleep it intermittently wakes up for a couple of annoying times, then it goes normal, and out of nowhere it starts to wake up. I am on stock ROM and Kernel. Please shed some light on this.
Boot your phone in safe mode and check if the proplem persists. Maybe some app wakes your phone.

How to goto the Safe mode in Samsung Galaxy S3*(all other Samsung Android phones should work in the same fashion)
Switch off your phone completely switch it on using power button once you see Samsung Logo on screen start hitting the left capacitive touch button i.e. Menu button.
You will see your device will boot in Safe mode and Safe mode will be watermarked on the left bottom of the screen. None of your downloaded application will be available in application menu.
How to get out of Safe mode in Galaxy S3Simple reboot the device.

Okay, here is my conclusion after a day and a half observation:
By curiosity I restarted the phone using power button. Since then that phenomena started to occur. Woke up whenever went to sleep for a couple of annoying times then a break and then a few more wake-up within next 7 to 15 minutes. The following morning I decided to restart the phone again using the power button and since then till now No Intermittent waking up.
It may or may not sound funny but I think the restarting-the-phone-using-power-button had caused that problem in my case. My precious is now absolutely fine since yesterday provided that during this entire happening I did not install any new application or make a tweak in settings.
Same here.I'm experiencing the same problems with the screen just waking up on it own.I thought it something to do with still being connected to the inherent.but turned out it wasn't.plus I've restarted the phone loads and it still happens every now again.........
So if any one could help or no the course.many thanks

same here.. in other topic i was suggested to remove live wallpaper.. i'll try that but i don't know yet if that's the problem..
I noticed that his happens when I turned of my phone screen and immediately place my phone on some NFC enabled cards. Seems that the phone is trying to read it and turned the screen on. Not sure if this is the case for you.
I though of that but i turned my nfc off and checked for any possible sources of nfc chips.. but it was not the case..
Anyone found a solution to this problem? i made a quick google search and i found some people having the same problem but no "solution" :crying::crying:
Is the problem gone in safe mode?

You could try AirPush Detector from market to detect this type of malware apps.

this actually was for my gf phone and it seams to be working now after uninstalling a live wallpaper..
strangely enough my htc one x started doing the same last night.. as i didn't installed anything new in the last couple of days i was surprised but then i remembered that i had just rebooted my phone.. so it had to be something that was started during this reboot.. so uninstalled the most recent 3 apps, kept the same but, after another reboot, it stopped.. (i had alreday rebooted a few times after having the problem and before uninstalling those apps and it kept happening)
Android 4.3 wake up bug
My phone just started doing this wonderful bug. My phone dropped from 98% battery to 70% within an hour because of waking up every few minutes.
I tried booting in "Safe Mode" and that seemed to work as per this thread. When I rebooted in normal mode, the problem returned. I then clear my RAM using the Task Manager. So far after about an hour it seems to have fixed the problem.
Clearing the RAM seemed to fix the problem until I unlocked the phone. Now I have to clear the RAM every single time I want to lock the phone. I now HATE this phone. Thanks Verizon!
