Yes it will work if you are using linux livecd to do the wire trick. if you want to do it on windows then follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795934
the controlbear link in that thread isnt working. get those files from here and do give CroPunisher a thanks for providing the file

I have already the file for windows (controlbear), I just only know if it is compatible for the wire trick.
if you have the ControlBearRelease_shooter_u_GB_WIN.zip file then you need a gingerbread rom (like Leedroid)

i just finished reading 65 pages of post in the wire trick thread and i didt find and answer ,
so my question is in flashed to boostmobile will doing the wire trick affect my flash (trying to install ICS)
and if it does it there anyway i can back up my flashed setting and restore then back? sorry i didt flasht he phone my self so i would't know.

Is it possible to install this rom with S-On? I had to switch to KingCobra, because DT was bootlooping. But KingCobra seems to be dead.

You cannot flash DT with S-On because you will need to downgrade your hboot to a compatible one (I don't know if you're CDMA or GSM). That's why it is bootlooping.
GSM. Thanks. Is revolutionary still in active developement for Hboot 1.53xx? Most downgrades seem to be a pain in the ass

It is a bit ambiguous though. if you see the last page praveenkv1988 says he actually did the wire trick before trying this. No one actually says he did this with s-on they just started from there
If you try it you'll have to do it on your own risk. its untested so you should tread lightly
Do I need to have s-off to flash cyanogenmod 9 to my Evo 3d? If so ,can you explain to me or direct me to the correct thread, on how to accomplice s-off that works with my phone specs.

Here's a guide that Ramjet put together for those seeking s-off. Very easy guide and full of information and links

Looking at your specs: you are nearly ready to use jupuonutbear wire trick method.
Make sure you have all of the following before attempting
Insulated wire(speaker wire or paperclip wrapped with electrical tape will do)
PC windows or Linux computer
Control bear(based on os,network and computer)
HTC drivers
HTC sync uninstalled
USB debugging enabled

Yes you will need to be s-off to flash cm9. There are cm10 ROMs as well if you want to give them a try.
Unfortunately, your current hboot wont allow Aosp ROMs to boot properly so once you gain s-off, you will need to downgrade your hboot 1.5 or lower to run them properly. If you need help with that just ask.
Control bear is the program you will need to run the wire trick and gain s-off

can you help me? I have the evo 3d unlocked hboot 1.58. i'm trying to update the new radio because i have the viper 3d rom installed and 3g isn't working.. so i'm thinking it's the radio? idk.?? what do i need to do? my guess is i have to downgrade. can you please refer me to the easiest tutorial?
Hello guys, I really want to install the 4.2.2 Unoffical SlimBean Nightly ROM but you need to be S-off for that. I am currently S-on with H-bott 2.09 and the latest OTA update of 3.16.651.3. I was wondering how I can go about going S-off. I know there are couple of ways but you for one you have to downgrade and the other you have a windows 32 bit. I really don't want to downgrade and have a windows 64 bit laptop. I was hoping if there is some way of using my current laptop and set up to get S-off. Thanks for your input.

I got the S-Off using DirtyRacun (babyracun) method using Windows 64 bit desktop without any issues. I followed the "Rooting for Dummies" guide from this website as it takes your step by step and there's no chance to make a mistake if you follow it.

My laptop, which is a throwaway, doesn't have CD drive. USB stick work as well? I'm already S-off, but just been trying to acquire knowledge about dual booting Ubuntu. Thanks to anyone who responds.

2)- Unlocked , the htcdev.com method.
3)- Rooted with custom rom (sensai rom) installed .
4)- hboot 1.53.007

First do the wire trick to get s-off and then we can talk about downgrading because without s-off you can't downgrade

Ok i went for S-off my device and i had to revert back to the stock ics rom "as they say here : http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-3d-h...c-evo-3d-using-wire-trick-juopunutbear-s-off/ " i restored my official ics backup that i made before installing sensai rom ... but now i'm stuck on a screen that displays "htc" on a white background !!
you have to manually flash boot.img in fastboot, as you are s-on

thanks ... hehe i forgot to flash it !!! ok now it works fine ... i'll root the stock rom then s-off with wire trick , after that i can flash JB rom with custom kernel ?
BTW can i multiboot ICS rom With JB rom ,or not ?! since they use different kernels !

No you don't. Wire trick is to s-off 1.53 hboot
that guide is outdated. go to unlimited.io and follow instructions there. you need ics and linux ubuntu livecd
