need an app recommendation.???? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

my daughter is very picky about her phone she won't let me rooted. so can some one recommend an app that would let me freeze/ disable apps on her phone with out root.???? thanks

You can freeze/disable apps in the App Manager settings menu.
However you can't remove/uninstall apps without root permission.

Some you can't even disable. Without root your just sol. Rooting is not bad and the towel root method doesn't trip knox.

Yes, but only some. You can disable almost all apps. And that is the only solution for OP, as his phone has not been rooted.

Ok thanks. Ima use the VZW Hotspot until its not free anymore.
Get
AdFree Android
Titanium backup, buy the FULL version, when you restore apps, its automated, with free version you got to click yes or ok a few times each app, if you have 70 apps, its really annoying!

+1 for ad-free...BUT with the release of the paid versions of Angry Birds it's not as important as it was to me, but still great for being able to put the Flash add-on to "always on" and not have to worry about Flash ads in the browser.

Plus it kills ads in many other free apps besides angry birds.
Great thread for us first time rooters//android users!
Thanks for the recommendations.
Anyone had trouble getting titanium backup to work? I granted it su permissions but it says 'Failed' to acquire root when the app starts.

It's an issue with superuser and the new version of sense. There's a fix for it somewhere here, I saw the link last night in the developer subforum

Very true, although I kinda hate killing ads in free apps. I prefer paid versions so we can be ad free and support the developer at the same time.. Angry Birds was an exception because I always get distracted by the darn ads being in the same area as the target.

You also need to be sure you are using the latest version of busybox for TitaniumBackUP....select the problems tab. Should give you the option to update busybox.

I can't believe no one has mentioned ROM Manager yet. You'll need it when custom ROMs come out.

Before I root...

Before I root my GS4....I'm a bit confused on how you actually backup your stuff in case you want to revert back to stock. I've read about using Titanium, but dont you use that after you've already rooted your device?
I just got my S4, never used android before and really want to give rooting a try....but not without knowing how to safely restore my device. Sorry for the noob question....I see plenty of info on rooting, but not restoring.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
You don't really have to worry about losing any data when you root. Just follow the instructions to root and then back up with Titanium Backup. It's probably my favorite app.

If you want to return to unrooted stock, go here. It will return you to factory software. Choose the One-Click version to make your life easier

Not slower. Imagine on a Windows computer administrator permissions. Rooting allows you administration access on your phone. Everything still works. No slow downs or any changes other than you can modify system apps

Will I have to have one of those apps that hide your root for the store to allow you to connect, or should my phone act as normal?

Adding more apps to multi window

I've seen some hacks for a few of the other samsung phones that let you add other apps to the multi window view instead of just the built in apps. Just wondering if any one has found a way to do that on our mega 6.3 yet?
you need to be on deodexed rom, it will be easy to mod.
Ok, thank you. I'll wait for a deodexed stock rom to show up.
Still waiting for the ClockWorkMod recovery to work, then we'll be in business..
I kind of knew this coming into this phone as the dev community probably wouldn't be as large as the flag ship phones, but the phone has been really good so far with the exception of the headphone volume being very low.

We already have the multi window feature, will this allow us to add apps to it?

The multi window feature that comes with the phone is limited to some apps. This will allow you to add to the multi windows any app in your phone.
also you can go this way.

hope this helps, I am using the xposed installer and works great for me. (Samsung Note 2)
Strange, that play store app tells me I need root access and won't run. I am rooted already. I guess I'll take a look at the other option

I interpreted the post wrong. I thought I could choose either method separately but I believe the post is saying that you have to install both the xposed installer and the multi window manager. Neither one of them by itself worked for me but when I installed both apps it worked. I hope this helps those hsving problems.

Correct xposed allows you to install other things besides multi window mod. Also samsung has app called samsung multi pro or something similar to that. It will allow you to do the same but you have to pay for the app. I personally have no experience with it.
Good luck

A little off-topic but, dude, texting/posting while driving is pretty dumb. Not saying that to be mean, but you need to prioritize your's and other's safety ahead of responding to forums.
I got mine that working fine , you need only root your phone, install multi window manager from play store, it can let you add any apps you like
Yup, you are right. I tried that app when I first got the phone (after installing the root kernel) and it would keep giving me errors saying i wasn't rooted. I just tried the app again and it works perfectly. Thank you!

How to Get rid of stupid Knox notifications when using rooted apps

I was really annoyed about the stupid notification about rooted apps after rooting my GN3.
Fix? Download Titanium Backup and search for anything with 'Knox' in it. As always I backed up to SD card just in case. Deleted the apps, rebooted phone and now I don't get the stupid message anymore.
Screw Samsung Knox lol
I've seen a lot of people mentioning Knox, but mine wasn't pre installed (it is on the phone as a link to install) and I haven't gotten any notices for root or root apps yet. Lumen bar was annoying though, I got rid of that.

Not rooted yet(only cause I haven't looked how to do it yet) but I don't see anything with Knox. Agree with the Lumen bar comment.
Removing /system/app/KNOXAgent.apk should take care of the notifications.

I just Froze the Knox Notification, and they went away. It even cleared the notification that as there. The only issue im having is with Xposed, spoofing the system to read official instead of custom.
* I got it, I was missing a step. Forgot to update it * Whoops!

Lg G2 Mini Root+Bugs

Hi folks, recently I bought my ney g2 mini and of course the same day I rooted it to have full access to the device via λroot.apk. 2 days later my lock screen stopped working as I disabled via the lock settings, though I didn't. So I full reinstall the original firmware via my PC and the original LG TOOL+kdz ROM and after that u re-root the device. Some days later I had the exact same problem. So I did a second master format and I let the g2 mini unrooted and guess what. It works like a charm till now. Does anyone else rooted user had this bug? Is there another verified method to root the lg without any problems?? Thx!
Perhaps a root-enabled app or a virus is doing it.

Whell, I though so about some third party apps but not sure what that might be. Used to install busybox, titanium, root tools pro, lucky patcher and other staff. Maybe I ll try again some time soon..now I want to enjoy my lock screen ?
Whell, after a few days with no root, i decided to give it a try and re-rooted my phone. Today, i found my lockscreen desabled.. again! I have no idea if it's a virus or some third-party apps with root accsess that may affect my lockscreen.. i post a video showing me changing the diferent types of locking but nothing happens.. Any ideas?

I have had this kind of issue myself few times... Its only some of applications that uses root privileges_(most likely some xposed framework) Try to install one by one app which uses root, than u will see which one is disabling your lockscreen. In my case it was XIUmod for xposed
