If I buy a brand new S4, will it be MDK? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I was asking one of the best buy guys, and he seemed to think it would be on original software. I could always return it if it wasn't, but does anyone know off hand if new, unopened merchandise has been updated?

Very doubtful. But I read somewhere in here that the software version will be on a sticker on the bottom of the box. The one with the barcodes and such

Yes, the box has the revision level.
No, you won't likely get MDK, unless your local BB has been sitting on those phones for a very long time.

How to know your note is brand new and not refurb

ideas.............
It's too new for there to be refurbished devices in stock. So new, in fact, that a customer with an online ordered phone who came into our store last week was told that in order to get a warranty-provided phone, they'd have to place a $650 hold on a credit card till they received the defective phone.

that makes sense yes, I remember I saw a refurbished one on ebay but I guess that must have been the int'l one lol. I see you work at att, is there any code, key combination which tells you how long the note has been used for or nah?
None that I'm aware of.

If I ordered a SGSII off Amazon in the US, what region would it be coded with?

Since US isn't an option, according to Check FUS. I will be returning my phone and want it to be in the closest condition of what I ordered it.

As long as there is a working ROM on it, I doubt very much that anyone checking the return is going to make a fuss about it.

Brand new or used phone?

Hi, i was thinking of buying a new HTC one x+ phone from individual sellers.
Some of them are selling really cheap ones and claiming they are gifts and that the phones were never opened or used before. Is there a way i can find if that is true?
Like a phone life-time counter or something?

I don't think that there is a way to find that out. You just have to risk it or to leaf it.

As a matter of fact i did find a way.
There is this website called "sndeep.info" that you can put any phone's IMEI code or use the phone serial number and it will give you the information about it in case it's an original phone.
If you get a different model or wrong info then that phone is not original and it's using a fake IMEI code.
I can confirm the site working for Iphones, samsung, HTC and LG. But it does support more brands too.
Just thought you guys will find it useful ^^

Reported Stolen G2 which was purchased on Swappa

So here is the long story short, I bought a Verizon lg g2 back in November 2013. 4 days ago my phone stopped picking up service after I put my sim back in it from the gs3 (my g2 had died that's why I switched to my gs3). I called Verizon to see what was going on, they told me they didn't know. They asked where did I purchase the phone I told them and then they said that the phone was reported stolen on a fraudulent account. So my Question is is there any place I can sell my phone to try to get something back for it?

You might want to try unlocking it and use another carrier. Who ever sold you was probably doing insurance fraud. But usually when a phone is locked like that its only locked to the carrier. I had a S4 locked for tmobile. I unlocked it and used ATT . couldnt use tmobile no more

Thank you for the tip I just remembered that the Verizon g2 is unlocked default. I'm going to try a friends Tmobile sim and see if it works. I don't know what that person was doing but sounds like that is what they could of been doing because he had a lot of g2 and was selling them cheap. He is still active on swappa too.

I've tried by emailing them and they just suggested to talk to the seller, another swappa mod told me to fill out the required form in order to he helped. I honestly am not satisfied with how swappa treated me and will not be buying from there again.
EDIT: Success! The phone works perfectly on T-Mobile. Calls, SMS & Data even though I was on Edge it worked.

If this guy knowingly sold you a phone he has or had reported stolen then you do have a solid leg to stand on. I would begin with you local law enforcement. IMEI numbers, IP Addresses and subpoenas to devuldge info on the Swappa users account will gain them all the info they need to proceed with filing charges. What's even better is I'm assuming most likely the phone you bought came from out of state so crossing a state line now opens the door for federal statutes. You might be surprised how willing and eager your local law enforcement might be to handle this for you, especially if you have your ducks in a row and necessary info on hand prior to your meeting with them.

Swappa checks all of the IMEI's to make sure they're clean as well, but from what Krazie1 is saying it sounds like the phone he bought was reported after he bought and activated it. Even Verizon would have told him it was clean.

Yah, I'm very well aware that Swappa checks the imei# for each listing. Plus, I understand what krazie1 has stated about the phone being reported stolen. I'm not doubting the phone was reported stolen. I'm just saying that, if you just slip your SIM card into the phone that's not yours I'd feel there's greater risk then if you take it to Verizon. I know I'd have a better chance of having the situation resolved if I took my phone to them. Especially, after it was reported stolen well over thirty days. The part that is unsettling to me is that the phone was new. I sell and buy often on Swappa so I'm not happy to hear about krazie1's situation. The seller has sold over a hundred phones. I feel, if I went to Verizon, I'd keep bugging them because of the situation. If I just slipped my SIM card in then I'd feel like I didn't have a chance. That's just my thoughts.

Gotcha -- you're saying that if they are the ones who give the all clear you have a leg to stand on later if the IMEI gets blocked. That makes sense.

Yep, exactly. I wish there was a sensible way to make the situation right. Logotech_cell should step up and resolve the issue. If he doesn't, Swappa should ban him!

So I'm planning on importing a Z2.
I'm on AT&T, are there any unforeseen consequences to doing this?
I just want to make sure I don't screw myself.

I did it and it was painless. I had my concerns but someone on another forum recommended a reputable dealer "e-bagel-tw" on eBay. He accepted my "best offer" price and the shipping was free. Since it's an international phone, it has to have AT&Ts LTE enabled after you get it. Some people have been panicking thinking they're stuck with 3G, but it's perfectly compatible once you download and install the right files.

Do you know a reliable source for these files? Just getting my ducks in a row.
I'm also on AT&T. I will say that I'd you don't already have the correctly enabled sim card, the system will give you a 3G only one of they enable the Z2 in your account. I had to go back and get them to fake the system into thinking I siding a different model so that it would provision LTE on my account.
Other than that, turn on LTE in the settings and use the system software to download the Internet settings and you're golden.
FYI, I dealt with the same seller and have the same comments about how great he is.

I wish I was paying more attention at the time. I took the phone to a local AT&T device support location in NYC when I realized I was not receiving data. The tech there couldn't figure it out at first either which is when mild panic started to set in and I backed off to let him fiddle with it. Eventually, he had a eureka moment when he stumbled upon a setting that required the download of a little file that allows the phone to connect to US LTE carriers. AT&T was one of the choices. Now in my phones settings: tools...wireless networks...more...internet settings...accept...and one of the three choices is ATT.
I'm going to order one as well. Probably will use the same seller.
