[Q] - Samsung Galaxy Mega

I have a MetroPCS m819n mega 6.3 and the GPS cosistently puts me 1/3rd mile northwest of where I am. I have tried emailing and "chatting" with Samsung, but they just offered the rudimentary 'reboot, uninstall 3rd party a pps, restore to factory' none of which helped.... anyone have any ideas?

Tmobile says that vibrant internet won't work outside US even after unlocking?

Hi,
I plan to buy the vibrant and may move out of US in a few months.
The Tmobile rep tells me that the phone will not work outside the US even after unlocking because it uses some special google towers and the phone is deigned to only work with tmobile!!
I told him that the phone supports the bands required by the country I will move to, and the carriers there have a 3g service but he insisted that it won't work.
I don't see why the phone shouldn't work.
Is there anything else that will stop the phone (specifically 3g internet) from working in India?
Thanks.
My bf bought his Vibrant from Tmo while we were in the US and they tried pushing that crap on us. Thankfully, we knew how GSM/3g works and what bands we needed so we weren't fooled. Your phone should work overseas just fine but make sure you double check on the 3g bands just in case.
Oh thanks. I suspected that there was something fishy in the tmobile reps response
Special Google Towers?
Yeah T-Mobile WILL lie to you.
They told us that if we cancel our data plan our phone won't work...
it does.
WTF !
Are you sure they told you that ?!
I ordered Vibrant 3 days ago from ebay and now after reading your post I'm worried that it won't work with my Service provider !!
This is weird !
I had HTC HD2 before from T-Mobile and internet was working perfectly with my service provider !
I think they just don't want you to use it without there plan so that's why they're telling people that !!!
wolf, the only way that phone wouldn't work is if you're carrying it from a GSM carrier to a CDMA carrier or something like that because GSMs have SIM cards while CDMA phones don't use the same technology.
The vibrant should connect with any carrier that have these frequencies:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
3g: 1700 (AWS*), 1900, 2100
Personally, the only place you should worry about the phone not completely working is in Japan and that's because although they do have 1700 3g, it's not the same as AWS. From my research, I believe that most 3g carriers rely on either 900 or 2100, so I guess as long as you have a phone that can do 3g with just 2100, you should be good in the majority of places. (BTW, if I said something that's completely untrue, then feel free to correct me).
The main source I used for coming to my conclusion was wikipedia:
Search UTMS and then scroll all the way to the bottom of the article and click the link "List of Deployed UTMS networks" under See Also.
The only problems I could think of that you could have would possibly be the Navigation and the Market. I know in the past the Navigation was specific to the US, but not sure if that has changed.

About navigation and market, is there a way to get those working outside of the US w/o having to turn your phone into an i9000? My bf's phone is still running Tmobile stock but we were thinking of flashing ROMs sometime in the future.
i have been using the t-mobile vibrant bought in the us at my location in lagos Nigeria and everything works just fine. 3g, navigation and the market. and i have more people buying to use in other parts of nigeria without any hitch.
Okay im not a big poster but this just pisses me off. TMO reps are morons they are not trained in phones. They are just regular people trying to make money off commission. I know this cuz i use to work with them. I would laugh that i knew more about phones then the damn managers.
But anyways yea your phone should work. They lie about unlock codes and phones getting unlocked because they make no commission on selling phones only on selling contracts plans and data plans. I use to unlock so many phones outside of tmo for a small fee (i am a student my time is valuable only ten bucks or 5 bucks) because tmo reps would just lie to these poor people.
Do not go to tmo store for anything unless u cant get it online stay far far away.
Update: I got the mobile and it's working fine
T-Mobile is just fooling us !

They tried pulling the same crap with us before we left the US and we went to multiple stores. All of them said that the phone wouldn't work outside of the US. They actually tried to get us on a plan and refused to unlock even when I said that we'd be leaving the US within the week when we bought it off contract. I'm honestly reconsidering going to Tmobile when I return to the US later on. Simple Mobile runs on Tmo's network anyhow and after this experience with their store clerks, I'd almost rather go with them.

It's good to know that Nigeria has the special Google towers too!
I'm a T mobile rep. Yes the phone works outside the country. In fact the Vibrant if unlocked has been said to work on ATTs 3g in some areas. Most reps don't know much about the phones past the specifications. Most people in here know more about phones than the general earphone sales rep. Feel free to send me a PM for any general Tmobile questions and I'll doo my best to help you guys out.

So i bought on eBay unlocked Tmo Vibrant. And i use it in Ukraine.
Everything is OK.
BUT!
It is impossible to surf internet in EDGE mode.
If WiFi is ON - ererything is good. Web works.
But!
In EDGE mode Web brawser (inbuilt or Dolphin - it's nothing) can not find any page. It looks like NO internet conection.
But!
All other applications (Market, Gmail, Maps and all other) work properly either WiFi or EDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does anybody know how to decide a problem?

AT&T Hotspot connect

I bought an unlocked Streak and the one thing I miss is the ability to connect easily to AT&T WiFi hotspots. AT&T branded phones have apps included to do this. Can those be installed on the unlocked versions of the Streak? Does anyone know which ones you would need?

I went round and round with Dell, AT&T Mobility and AT&T WiFi - everyone blamed the other guy. Finally after about a month of frustrating calls to each of their support groups, I was pretty much told - cannot be done, the correct app is not now and probably will never be available to put on the Streak. AT&T WiFi support did finally agree that if you are at an AT&T hotspot that does not have free access like you would find at a McDonalds for example, call their support number, give them your AT&T mobile number and they will give you a temp password - best they would do.
Thanks for the reply.
I had not called yet and wondered if anyone had tried using the app from the locked phone OR if there was a solution from AT&T. I may call because it is supposed to be included if you are an AT&T subscriber, so you should be able to get a permanent PW, the same as if you had home internet with them.
It was something I did use from time to time.
I had never used the ATT hotspot app since I never left the factory ATT bloatware on any of my phones. With all my Windoze phones I almost never used wifi anyway since it was such a battery hog. On the Streak, it is a different story and I'd be really interested if anyone does come up with an apk or another solution to get that app on the Streak.

Hmm.. i have an Aria sitting right here.. let me see if i can rip the apk off of it.

So the At&t Hotspot app on the Aria is just a hotspot locator. It does nothing but link you to http://attwifi.know-where.com/attwifiw/

I notice from your sig that you have an android backflip. Are you able to get the app off of it? Maybe share with us At&T subscribers?

thanks for trying.
It isn't in the ATT-specific section of the market either. I went through that one-by-one today.

I'm on 2.2 (its in my signature)
On the left hand side of the market page if you are holding it in landscape, down at the bottom, there are three icons. If it is in portrait, they are at the bottom of the green field. From left to right they read "apps" "games" and "at&t". If you click on the at&t one, there is a bunch of AT&T junk that I recognized from my ATT Windoze phones.
FWIW, if my phone isn't on the network, the ATT one changes to, I think, my apps.
The AT&T specific section of the market will show up on phones locked to AT&T. On my unlocked Streak I see My Apps where the AT&T link is on my Flipside.
Regarding the apks from another AT&T phone: how likely is it that the ones from A different model phone will work? and which would you need? Is it just an app or is there more to it?
The only apk that is clearly related to the AT&T hotspots on the Flipside is named AttHotSpotLocator.apk. It is simply an app to search for hotspot locations.
On phones with the built in capability to connect to the AT&T hotspots there is an extra setting to auto-connect to an AT&T wireless hotspot. It seems there is more to this than just an app.

Us Streakers need a super-geek android programmer type to figure this out for us. Unbelievable that with an unlimited data plan from AT&T they make it so hard to log into their hotspots just because we don't own the "right" phone in their opinion.

I don't think Android is supported yet. iPhone, bb and even WinMo is though. Even the ATRIX "4G" (yeah right) only supports att Hotspots via Tethering...which you can do with pretty much ANY att phone.

T-Mobile services with i717

OK I have looked and looked but to no avail. Can someone just give me a straight answer. Will the i717 work with a T-Mobile SIM? t-mobile finally works in my area and decided to go with them, on their $30 a month plan. Which is 100 min( I don't talk much) and unlimited text and data ( data up to 5GB first 2 4G, 3G then on also they give you SIM or $.99 if you order their web site Another reason I went with them, cause I can use any unlocked GSM phone on their network. I never had much of a choice when it came to cell service since I live up in the mountains of East Tennessee. Only Verizon and Sprint Picked up at my house. You'd have to go 4 miles down the road to pick any GSM carrier. So any ways I just got a sweet deal on an i717 on eBay for $238 in great condition with some accessories. I read around that the Radio's and can be changed to accommodate T-Mobile's service? I have rooted devices before and know that's not a problem to put a custom ROM it so as to have the right radio. But Need advice on what to do and where to start. Anyone's help and I will forever be indebted to you. I apologize if This has been answered else where ....I just couldn't find it.
Yes this note will run on t-mobile network. Nice plan!
1. Flash CWM kernel.
2. Flash rooted kernel.
3. Flash Blaze modem.
4. Input APN settings.
Everything you need is here on Bigjoe's Super Everything page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28040353
Just follow the above sequence to get to your goal. Flash the fancy roms after you get your rig working.
And hit the thanks button for Bigjoe and the other threads you will visit.
A buddy of mine is wanting to do the same thing only he wants the N7000 instead of the i717. I know that the N7000 in the international Version but could you do the same with what yo explained to me with the i717?
Send a PM to Bigjoe. He is a contributor to the international version as well, so he will guide your friend.

The international version doesn't support the bands and features a different chipset altogether. I wouldn't recommend getting it for T-Mobile, you'll probably be stuck on EDGE data forever.
Tmobile wont work on Note-7000
Brought a international note on Ebay, used with Tmobile in San Francisco area.
Getting only edge speeds.

[Q] NO 3G with samsung Galaxy S4 Flashed to Verizon Prepaid

I have a samsung Galaxy s4 that was with u.s cellular, but flashed to verizon prepaid. I am miserable with it. My average data is only 1x. Very rare does my 3G icon pop up. When it does show up the minute I try to search or send something it disappears. I've done the speed test and it's terrible... All show & No go.
It was flashed by Cricket King (ebay) & It seems like I'm just getting the run around. Emails are not answered in promptly, if at all.
Not sure what to do.. was thinking if re flashing to a different carrier like t mobile or metro pcs.
Does anyone know why I would not get 3G on long island new york
zip code 11772
It's frustrating to even get a mms picture messsge out
Help please

At&t LG v10 on tmobile. No hotspot. How to fix?

Hi.
A long time back I had a vz note3 that I used with tmobile and there was a simple thing to do to fix it so when I activated hotspot it didn't look at vz servers but looked at tmobile for the authentication and it would work.
Well I'm in that similar boat again. Now I got an att v10 and I'm on tmobile. It's obviously unlocked but it getting that error where I guess it's contacting AT&T servers for the authentication check for my hotspot.
Anyone know how I can fix this? Foxfi don't work either. Also yes I do have mobile broadband on my tmobile acct.
Thanks
Was your Note 3 rooted? I would think you might be limited with your presently unrootable AT&T V10? Good luck tho, I hope you can find a solution. Have you tried all the third party tethering apps?
