Remix OS Help - Remix OS for PC

Hi hoping for some help.
I have an old Compaq v2000, low specs 1.5g ram, running windows 7 32bit and vista dual boot.
Trying to dual boot remix beta, have followed all the instructions a couple of times now, can get it to work fine on my desktop.
So I use the installation exe and install onto the hard drive and reboot, dual boot options come up and I click on remix os and it loads for the first time, read write speed as around 32mb/second ,slow but it should be enough. It goes through the first time install stage and then goes to boot into remix but is just a blank screen with a cursor at the top left corner, and just stays like that. Keys don't do anything. Any ideas?

reboot and press ESC key to go to main menu....press E
highlight the line that says kernel, press E.
go to the end of the line by pressing END key...press spacebar and type DEBUG=1
Press Enter......Press B to boot. Look at the verbose output on your screen and report at what point you get stuck.
btw....why on earth are you using windows vista??? XD

Ok thanks for replying.
I have done what you said comes up with this:
"[ 1.321221] failed to find cpu0 device node
+ exec
+ exec
...could not find a valid V7 on sda
could not find a valid V7 on sda1
could not find a valid V7 on sda2
couldnt mount as ext3 due to feature incompatibilities found at /dev/sda2"
then typed exit to continue boot and said "couldnt probe module"
Using vista as its faster that 7 on this old thing.

Which one did u install...32bit or 64bit? Since your system is old, It might not support 64 bit.
And which graphics are you using....onboard or PCIe card?

hmmm...so it just stays at "couldn't probe module"??
i never got that error before....so dunno how to exactly deal with that.
maybe search/google will turn up something...

Have searched google and it seems to be a graphics problem, looks like its not supported at the moment, could be that Remix cannot locate the driver?
On a android x86 rom i installed on here the wifi had the same issue and that was managed to be fixed using a few commands that i found on google.
The VGA graphics adapter is RADEON Xpress 200G Series.
Hopefully it gets fixed in a later update.

Try booting with nomodeset vga=791 flag....
If it boots up, it means your gpu is not supported.

How do I connect to internet? I am using Remix through USB on Dell OptiPlex 780. My internet connects through a username and password which I have tried through the third option but did not work for me.

WiFi adapter not identifying by remix os
remix os is not recognising my WiFi adapter I tryed both Alfa and beta version but it is not recognised by bot of the versions. some one pls help me out of this problem.

Hey tried what you suggested and nothing.
I am able to go in and change the screen resolution but still only get a blank screen in DEBUG mode but still no actual display. Im guessing that its just not supported.

I can see videos on the ROM but when i install Google Play Services, i can't see videos, any solution?

Remix OS 64 Bit version not booting on old laptop

Hi All!
I have a Lenovo laptop lying around my college days and i thought to use it for trying Remix OS. I have checked online and the processor, Intel Celeron M 540, supports 64-bit instruction set as per Intel website. So i saw a method to dual boot remix os on windows. Formatted one of my partitions and proceeded with the dual boot method via EasyBCD. While trying it, it detects Android x86, detects data partition, but after the "Checking Data Partition" when it should show RemixOS bootanimation, it simply reboots the PC and the same happens with booting from USB as well. So could anybody please suggest if it has something to do with the processor side or is it the old drivers or something?
Model number is Lenovo 3000 G410. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Have you had any success with this yet? I have the exact same problem, and can't find answers anywhere. I've tried everything!!
I have a similar problem with lenovo s205. It doesn't even boot from flash disk or external hard drive (any of 64 bit version) the only 32 bit version boot from drivedroid on my phone but only live.

Well i downloaded and tried the 32 bit version and it worked fine. But the OS is working awfully slow. I'm afraid it's the hardware that can't run it smoothly. Will see if i can find some space on my PC to try this OS. A great project with potential nonetheless. :good:

I Cant install or Run Remix OS 2 BETA on my PC!!!

Hello everyone,
I am having trouble with the new version of Remix OS 2 Beta.
I am running a 64 bit machine, and downloaded the correct version. I used the installation tool (not the original usb tool, but the one that allows you to install to the C drive) and it appeared that everything was installed correctly "BUT". When i boot i get the two options (Windows 10, Remix OS). I choose the Remix OS option, and it gives me an error (remixos/kernel error). So, i did some research and it says that the os might not recognize that i have a 64 bit machine. I then proceeded with the same installation but 32 bit this time since it should allow me to use that version if i have a 64 bit machine right? It allows me to boot, but then stays in limbo on the ASUS boot screen until i restart. any suggestions.
Have the same exact issue. Are you booting with legacy or efi

Take the intrid.img from the Android x86 project of 5.1.1 and replace that on the usb before install. Worked for me. Rinning Beta 64bit now wheni could only run 32bit before.

Run it off the USB. When option comes for resident or guest hit tab and add to the line (or e for edit) INSTALL=1
I have a 64 bit machine and it installed fine. I don't think I had to change any setting from the installer. Wouldn't work with the alpha but the beta installed and booted right up. When it was installing there was like an 8 minute timeframe where it seemed it wasn't doing anything and my monitor (an hd tv) was getting no signal but I just let it keep running and finally it came back on and it booted right up. I installed to the harddrive also btw.
Thank you all for your feed back. I will try some of your suggestions in the morning. I didn't think I would get a response this fast haha. Thanks again for now.

I tried both ways and and with efi just got the kernel issue. It seems that everything installed correctly but when I choose remix OS it tries to boot and I get the remixos/kernel error
This sounds exactly the same issue than I have with Dell Venue 11 pro (7140). It has Windows 10 installed and secure boot is disabled in BIOS. I can select Remix OS in boot menu but then the following errors are displayed Remix OS doesn't start:
error: 'ntfs' is already loaded.
error: 'exfat' is already loaded.
error: no such device: /RemixOS/kernel.
error: file '/RemixOS/kernel' not found.
error: you need to load the kernel first.

Yes this is my issue exactly. I hope this is only a minor bug, because I realise we are still in beta and all devices won't work the same. Please is there anyone who can help us with this???

If you would share some info with us, we might be able to provide a fix :
In Windows, open Run dialog. (Windows key pressed + r)
Type msinfo32 and enter.
You'll see a lot of information, please list the following :
1. System type
2. Processor
3. Bios mode
4. Platform Role
5. Secure boot state
6. Installed Physical Memory (Ram)
7. Total Physical Memory.
Also tell which version of beta you used. 32-bit or 64-bit?

You have as 64-bit capable CPU, as detailed on http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Atom-Z3736F-Tablet-SoC.122214.0.html
So 64-bit beta should work for you. Don't know why 32-bit UEFI systems have this issue.
However I'll inform you as soon as I update my Grub2Win guide.

(for me) Unknown problem with booting R-OS

Hey guys, Meep here, I'm new!
So yesterday I tried installing Remix OS on my HP Pavilion 17, (Core i5-4200M) and a HD 8000M card from AMD.
I intalled the 64 bit version using the HDD installer provided with the ISO, and when done, I select the partition, after some text the RemixOS logo flashes for let's say 3 minutes, then it goes to a black screen witha mouse that I can use with my trackpad, and that goes away when I click a key on the keyboard. If I leave it there for let's say 5 minutes, the fan will start to go crazy. normal AndroidX86 works fine booting from USB. and my laptop is UEFI, so the 32 bit doesn't work either. making the USB installer with both the RemiXos tool and Rufus didn't help. after the remix os logo I am thrown into a black screen with a mouse. any help? thanks in advance.!
It's probably due to the amd card, remix does not play well with non intel graphics cards atm(they're trying to get it to work). The march 1st build was a lot more stable for me but it autoupdates so couldn't stay there. You could try to add nouveau.modeset=0 i915.modeset=1 to the menu.lst file(inside remixos folder) under kernel to force it to use the intel integrated.

Hey. I tried using all kinds of parameters, nomodeset, nomodeset vga 7**, what you said, but everything stops working. now I just get to a black screen, with a stuck white dash at the top left. strange thing is, only thing that works is the brightness support on the keyboard!

Remix OS on a Cherry Trail Tablet?

Specifically attempting to install it on an HP Envy Note 8 with an Atom x5 processor and 2GB of RAM. It originally had Windows 10 on it but I've pretty much wiped it out (formatted the entire SSD including recovery partitions).
I have an 8GB flashdrive formatted to FAT32. I run the 32 bit Remix OS installer and once it finishes I use a micro USB to USB adapter to insert the flash drive. When running the 64 bit installer the Flash Drive shows up as a bootable device and up on selecting I get an error with a memory location (ex)0x8XXXXXX something.
I tried the 32 bit installer (probably should have used that in the first place) I do the same steps use the Remix OS installer Tool and start up the tablet. However this time the tablet does not recognize the flash drive as a bootable device (literally just does not show up in the list of bootable devices have re-run the installer 3-4 times with no change). I have tried it with and without virtualization enabled and with and without secure boot enabled and get the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
update: I got it to boot 64 with secure boot disabled. How do actually install the files to the local drive?
Update 2: Was able to install to the local hard drive by hitting e on the selection screen (Guest or Resident) and adding INSTALL=1 DEBUG= to the end of the parameters section but above the existing new line.
It's working and running well however the touchscreen is unresponsive any way to get that working? Right now I'm using a micro USB splitter and a keyboard/mouse plugged into the USB ports.
Im in, I'll recieve my mi Pad 2 soon (same cpu) I'll try to get it working too when I rcieve it is there a working Android solution for ur envy?

Check if reloading the modules helps.
Either #rmmod i2c_hid && modprobe i2c_hid
Or start RemixOS from fully off i.e. don't reboot from Windows

Remix OS is the only OS on my tab I did a complete re-install and disconnected the Keyboard and Mouse before boot (didn't actually do that intentionally as a troubleshooting tip I just needed to attach the charger). It's working now!
One issue after the next~ but im excited so far. Touch screen is working OS is installed.
Now I can't get the screen to rotate though. I double checked auto rotate is on and I also attempted to double tap F11 to get it to manually rotate but neither seems to work
Edit: On top of that I get stuck at a flashing Remix OS screen after reboot now that doesn't go away even after around 20 minutes of waiting.

Yes it's force locked by default (think of it in terms of a PC and that makes sense)
Have a look at one of my threads; either Overlay Apps, etc.. Or systemless root
Personally I'd try the systemless root (if you are running 64bit which I guess you are); it has rotation enabled and has that touchscreen 'fix' as a su.d (init.d) script.
So after restarting the system I'm stuck at a flashing Remix OS (Remix OS is installed to my hard drive after using the installer I removed the USB drive and my initial boot was from the hard drive not a USB) any way to get around this?! Persists even after multiple reboots. I've let it sit for around 20 minutes on this one now.

Does mount show that /data is mounted? It could be that data.img has corrupted like from a bad unmount. Not sure if you have access to it; but to confirm modify grub to use guest mode (data in ram) by adding/changing DATA_IN_MEM=1
I tried add DATA_IN_MEM=1 to the boot but it didn't seem to make a difference (although it did notably restart on it's own instead of just staying at the flashing screen) where do I need to type "mount"?

Sure
I run the "Remix OS for PC Installation Tool" from a separate windows PC and use the "USB DRIVE" option to put the 64 bit remix os files on my flash drive
I then use a powered USB HUB and a Micro USB to USB converter to plug in a keyboard and the flash drive. I hold down the volume down key on my tablet to get the boot options and then choose the flash drive as the boot drive
From there I'm given the option of "resident mode" and "guest mode" I hit "e" on the resident mode and add the lines INSTALL=1 and DEBUG= to the second from last line in the grub commands.
I then get a blue screen I choose my hard drive as the install location and choose to format it to ext4, I allow grub and grub 2 to install, and install it as "read/write". It then says "expecting to write" and then runs from 0 to 100% and says syncing to disk. From there I have the option to "Boot to Android X86" or "Restart" and I remove the flash drive.
If I choose "Boot to Android X86" it boots into remix OS and I can use it until I restart. After restart I get the flashing white Remix OS logo and it never finishes booting (just to be certain it wasn't an issue with it taking a while I literally let it sit over night for about 10 hours to see if it ever finished and it did not).
If I choose "Restart" I get the flashing white Remix OS logo after the grub screen and it never loads.
I think that should cover it.

Black screen after language choosing

Hello. I successfully installed RemixOS on my PC (Dualboot with Win10). It even starts, but gives me the black screen (with the mouse pointer I can move) after the "Choose your language" screen. Any ideas?
My config is:

4 GB RAM, DDR2
Geforce GTX660
Two monitors
Try Remix OS 3.0.102 32bit version
I guess that you tested the Remix OS 3.0.102 64bit version only. Try the 32bit version - may be that it will work correctly. Others have had the same problem which you described using the 64bit version - see link.

Exact same problem here. Installed it tonight alongside Win10 and can only get as far as the OP described.
When I press some random keys on the keyboard after waiting I get a message that says Jide Setup Wizard isn't responding and asks me if I want to wait or click OK. When I wait it just returns to a black screen for an eternity or when OK is clicks it cycles through the language select option and just hangs again.
So annoying, I was REALLY looking forward to having android on my desktop
The same problem with 64bit version for my x200, but the 32bit is no problem.
