New Update 11/17 (N950USQU2BQJA) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

So i messaged T-mobile on twitter and just asked if any reason we hadn't seen an update in a long time. They responded with a link to the update page showing a new version was released today with security and tons of fixes. I can not pull it down manually on cellular or WiFi, Smart Switch wont pull it down either. Has anyone been able to install it on their note 8's??

UPDATE: It released this morning.
Also appears to have patched the KRACK vulnerability.

Nothing here yet!

I think either it was pulled or it's gonna be out after midnight.

I just downloaded it. I guess I'll install it. Lol.

Just popped up on my phone in Chicago.

Looks like it's a pretty big update, I wonder what is included besides the October security patch

It's weird it says it has the October and November patches but it's on October security level. Also no mention of the camera improvements like the international versions got?

I think I read somewhere that the latest At&t update disables the ability to root on Note8. Has anyone tried to root after receiving this update? Also, are we able to downgrade if we want to after it? I think I also read that if the number changes before the last 4 letters, then you can't.

Does anyone know how to bypass the system ui crashing prompt without factory resetting the phone? I had substratum installed, no root...

I don't but to be safe once you are back up and running be sure to follow suggestion to uninstall your theme before updating. Sorry I know this isn't much help now.

Mine just showed up! Greensboro, NC

I had to make sure all data backed up in Samsung account. Then reset. Installed the apps again. Restored only the data with Samsung account. Then make a new backup with Samsung account.
Uninstalling substratum themes and restore Note 8 themes to default didn't work for me.
Even when I restore with all apps (that includes substratum in the backup) will yield the same problem.
Don't know other way. Just don't use substratum themes right now.

There are some really solid themes, but not too many that work well with Note 8 devices. Swift Black is great, but like you said I did download and install one that jacked my System UI and had to do a factory reset. I don't mind that even cause every once in a while it's nice to clean and clear the junk off the device memory. Blackups are a wonderful thing.

Has anyone gotten root on this update?

I just got burned on this. System Ui fail. Had to factory reset and lost a lot of stuff. While reinstalling apps attempted to use a Samsung theme and got the same system Ui error. Had to reset again. I'm petrified to attempt any kind of themeing once I get back to par.
PS When I say "Samsung Theme" I mean the ones you can apply via phone settings. Blows my mind how that happened.

You probably used Samsung backup to restore your settings and therefore it put your old Substratum settings on again.

This is what found out.
Don't do restore of desktop, settings and apps. You can do the other data restore with Samsung account after resetting your Note 8.
Then install your apps. Don't install Substratum for now. Then create a new restore point within your Samsung account. Use that restore point for future restore.
Otherwise you will end up restoring the stuff that caused the problem.

No more Janky scrolling in the Play store. :good:

Okay, as far as I know, the app named DeviceManager.apk does the job of updating. I have just freezed it with Titanium. It can also be uninstalled. My device hasn't been updated yet (I keep my wifi on 24x7).
Alright rjmohit, I'll look into it. Thanks!
Currently i am still on 1.4.0, if i farked up my NT and need to do the 8x interrupt powerup to get system restore, will any steps (i.e. allow wifi to be turned on to complete the initial registration process) update the NT to 1.4.1 before I get a chance to use Indirect's original zergrush method to root it again?
Thanks.
It shouldnt

Well, yeah! That exactly is the one!
For those of you who are unhappy with the 'unavailable' software number, you can head on to the nook color forums to deactivate OTA updates w/o disabling DeviceManager!
But as far as I know, this is the safest method, as the other methods mentioned there dont seem foolproof with the NT.
Has anyone tried to see if this method loses ability to put have off Barnes and Noble store. I dont books or apps available for purchase anymore.

Yes, by freezing devicemanager, you no longer have access to "shop" and if you try and shop online instead, the book, etc. will not sync to your library. So if you actually like using this as an E-reader the way it is designed (rather than using kindle app instead), then hope the FOTAkill.apk does the trick.
Sooooo where can i get fotakill.apk?
I rooted mine earlier with gapps but do not have it.
Fyi, i used the method mentioned on the nook color forum; sqlite to edit fota value from "auto" to "manual" in database and my B&N Store seems to be working fine. Device info still shows version 1.40 also.

You can find it in the first post of the rooting thread, under "Download Link for rooting script:" Inside the Nook&Zergy.zip file under system/app
Mod: If I posted in the wrong place, please let me know. I am new to all of this.
On my rooted NT/not de-bloated, I just received the OTA at ~7:45pm PST, it took ~3 mins to download then installed successfully. I had confirmed that FOTAkill.apk was in system/app yesterday so this did not block it.
Note: I have been using my NT with WIFI ON waiting for the OTA to hit hoping to confirm(not discount) Indirect's theory related to FOTAkill.apk.
Here is a review of my initial NT rooting success, the OTA update and current outcome of no root/no functioning gapps:
12/15:
1. Rooted using Indirect steps.
2. Installed Gapps (of course)
3. Did not de-bloat
4. Confirmed NT root access and installed terminal emulator, File Mgr, Root Explorer
After rooting: (all good)
Button Savior works
Android Market works
Amazon Apps Store works
B&N Apps works
Several launchers work. (Go, ADW, LauncherPro, VTL Launcher)
Use ADW Launcher EX regularly
Some issues with widgets not starting.
Google Services Framework error re-curring inconsistently but not detrimental to functioning.
12/21: Saw XDA post of OTA 1.4.1 warning:
Kept reading XDA forums to assess impact and wait for ideas on solutions
Saw Indirect post that FOTAkill.apk was installed in his rooting process.
Confirmed FOTAkill.apk was present in /system/app on my NT
Installed OTA Rootkeeper
Decided to wait for OTA update to see what happens
What I did not do:
No devicemanager.db edits as suggested by yaggermr post
No Titanium Backup freezing of .apks
No de-bloating (Unsure if proven that this would prevent but assume it does)
I did not confirm FOTAkill.apk permissions but had not changed them. (They should have been whatever they were when this file was delivered in root/gapps process.)
12/22: OTA update received
What was in place that I hoped would work:
FOTAkill.apk
OTA Rootkeeper(don't really know how to use this but think I did the protect and back up.)
Outcome:
Button Savior works
Launcher selection works as does the Launchers
Android Market does not open and the icon weirdly small on dock
Gmail not working
Amazon Apps Store opens and downloads but app install is blocked as non-B&N content.
All other previously loaded apps work. (that do not require root access)
Lost root access.
Next steps:
Full factory reset or sdcard approach seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20502705&postcount=1
Then:
Edit devicemanager.db approach seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20499801&postcount=2
Or
Freeze devicemanager.apk seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20513770&postcount=6
FOTA kill didnt work, time for plan B. Most OTA's check the build.prop through recovery which means I'm modifying the build.prop to change to a nook color and see what happens. It should in theory work.

Then I can verify that blocking appears work. I'm in the same area and didn't receive an update.
I had frozen "DeviceManagerService 2.3.4" with Titanium pro. I also previously freeze "cloudservice 1.0" and com.bn.cloud.svc 2.3.4", and have not defrost them.

Another one, just in case
What are the chances of making this available for the i9305? I know the partition and radio are different. However, if the partition part was adapted and the radio was removed from ultima rom (i.e. old radio remains on device), would this be doable?
I hate how my i9300 constantly is at almost full ram, wanna get the 2GB version. But the Dev support is minimal (at best)
If someone bought me one I'd do one for sure, but I can't afford one.
And unused RAM is wasted. Android uses as much RAM as possible on purpose. If you had enough apps on the LTE phone it would also try to run as much RAM as possible.

Can 4.2 camera app change the lock screen wallpaper now ?
I'm using this rom sence ver 4.1 , it's a great rom , but i found that if i use the 4.2 camera & gallery APP in the higher version of ULTIMA, i cant change my lockscreen wallpaer.
now 6.0 updat is coming ,can i change it by using 4.2 camera & gallery APP + AOSP lockscreen?
Many thanks!
Unfortunately not it's a common problem with the 4.2 galley at the moment. You should install the stock camera or Note II to change it

AROMA crashes
I haven't been able to get through the installer without my phone crashing.
First time coming from another rom, I tried to install UltimaROM 5.1. I performed a wipe data/factory reset and install zip from internal sd. Pick ultra wipe, siyah kernel etc and on the last step I press "Next>" and the phone crashes. I pull out the battery and reboot system, and voila UltimaROM is installed.
Second time I want to install UltimaROM 6.0. Perform wipe data/factory reset, and at the bloatware removal screen I scroll down only to cause a crash once again. I repeat the battery removal process go into the installer again, and it crashes again when I untick the Samsung Apps option. Third time it gets stuck at the last step again, and after I unplug the battery for the last time I have v6 installed.
Why did I have to go through all this trouble. Was I doing something wrong?
Try this!

With my experience, DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING in Ultima Aroma installer.
So how can i install ULTIMA if i came frome another rom? It's simple, just wipe data / cache / dalvic in Recovery, otherwise use a wipe script such as "Revolution rom super wipe script" in Recovery.
Hope that can help. :fingers-crossed:

And i aldo stucked during the istallation, or stucked when i chose the app / mod / theme in aroma(quit often in V5),so be paitient, finally it will work.
(how to prevent that happen efficiently? i always make my self tick the checkboxes only once druing the installation )
Well I've updated to the latest AROMA installer version and I wipe all the time using the installer. I even have an AROMA installer just for wiping.
What version of CWM are you using?
A bit of help with the AOSP messaging again. I love the way it looks and don't really like Samsungs messaging app because the text is rather large and not as smooth looking.
I have went into Google contacts on the website and changed the number of a friend of mine it looks similar to this +14045555555 is this the correct formatting? I did it that way because one of my contacts was set up that way and her messages would go into a thread, but others that I changed would still just pop up as new threads. Is there anything else that is required of me after I change the numbers?

Ok for me it's like this:
+447123456789
+44 = country code
07123456789 = phone number
Just strip out the leading 0 and put it on the country code
I want to test both the S3 and Note2 cameras side by side but I don't like to try to decompile, change package name and then recompile the app. So is there another way to do it (since I assume that they have same package name)? Or can someone tell me which they prefer from their own experience.

Messages are now threading!!!! I had set my contacts up the way of the working one while I awaited your response and went ahead and reflashed and my messages are threading. Thank you!!!!!
Also, is there anyway to make the icons smaller? I guess change the resolution is what i'm asking.
EDIT: I figured it out, I figured that post in the other thread about DPI must have been something about that. So I googled and came up with how to change the DPI and changed it to 240 and it's perfect. I will definitely tell about your rom.
THANKS!
I have been using ur rom for ages now never changed, your rom is awesome man. However, I flashed the latest version (v6.0) and for some reason it does not allow me to view the caller id even though I have them in my contacts which is a big problem for me. Did i do something wrong or is this a known issue.

Hi!
First of all I gotta say thank you for an amazing rom. I've been using 5.1 for about a week and have'nt encounterd any bugs at all. However today I downloaded the 6.0 and experienced a few problems. While I was flashing 6.0 aroma launcher freezed at about 95% so I had to pull the battery and redo it again. 2nd time it worked. Everything in the rom seems to work just as weel as in 5.1 accept for the video player that FC everytime I try to watch a video clip. Tried rebooting etc. Does'nt help.
Anyways great job with the rom!

Yes, I've got a fix for that already. I'm just holding out to see if this contacts problem is a ROM issue or not. I'm thinking it isn't and must be something else but I want to make sure so I can fix all three in one patch. But there is a solution for it, don't worry

Ahhhhh now this looks gooood. Will get trying it later. Thanks again dude.
Cool! Will install it tonight thanks mate
OK so far so good, took a while to install but besides seems to be working well
Unable to pair my Amazon fire TV remote with it though and that was working with your standard 5.0 build
Great work thanks!
Also the volume controls on the CTRLR don't seem to work
im bootlooping
anything to do with flashing root?
EDIT-
3 flashes with root = bootloop, 1 flash without = success
Any other reviews so far? I'm happy with Cyanogenmod 12 at the moment, but would love to hear some feedback on Android TV. So far 45 people have downloaded the rom. That includes me, but I haven't installed it yet.
I find it a bit limited to be honest. Plus my remote doesn't work the best with it (until I open a side loaded app where it works fine)
Love that I can control the main menu with my watch via the app for the phone to control android TV.
On the whole I'm 50/50. I'm happier accessing my own database of movies via kodi than all the recommended moves that take up most of the interface..... But it looks much better which is why I'm not sure on wether to keep it or not.
gj ! works fine with a few issues only.
Remote app works ok except for voice (tried with a Nexus 7)
Cast receiver works only for Youtube but it works(ish).
Install Sideload Launcher from the web playstore then you can switch to an alternate launcher to launch non 'Android TV' apps (it's ugly but it works).
a few apps i tried:
Kodi ok (little display glitch when changing the sound volume, could be system wide not only kodi)
Chrome ok
ES File Explorer File Manager (great to sideload apk from network) ok
can't set the sound level with the remote or multimedia keyboard
'backspace' key not working as 'back' with multimedia keyboard
Check this G+ community for a lot of apk's that works with it (Nexus TV/ADT-1 TV Apps BANK on the left menu)
must have: Netflix not working is a deal breaker.
would be nice to have: root too or something to shutdown/reboot/go to recovery.
Do you know how long it takes to boot the first time?
Been watching the swirling ink spots for over 10 minutes now
Edit: Solved, was trying to boot as rooted. After installing with out root booted just fine.
How can I install regular launcher?
Thank you
I want to thank @Unjustified Dev for all the work he has put into improving the MOJO. I flashed this ROM without any issues aside from root. I first flashed it with root and it would not boot. I then flashed it without root and it launched without any issues. Outside of the known Netflix crash (which is a deal breaker for me) everything seemed to work well. I have also come to realize that I don't think Android TV is for me. The UI is great but it makes me feel very limited. Maybe it is just my lack of knowledge about Android TV, but, it seems to lack some of the main features of Lollipop that I depend on, like multiple profiles. I also don't like the way that the Playstore is accessed. It seems like there are a number of significant apps that should be on a TV device, like Amazon Instant Videos and HBOGo, that are not available from the limited PlayStore. Lastly, the inability to root the device is another issue that I am not willing to stay with.
I will explore Android TV on the MOJO more over the weekend. As of now though I think I will be sticking with CyanogenMod 12.
I installed it and it the ROM worked great. It didn't see my SD card though, not sure if that's android TV or the ROM though. The first time I installed root and went into boot loop, so I reinstalled and it went right through. So far I like the cm12 better though so I went back to that. I may try again after a week or so. Great work and thanks!

I went back into TWRP wiped Cache, Data, and Dalvik. Then installed the zip again. When it asked if I wanted to install SuperUser I didn't install it thus not rooting the devise.

Ok, so now Im stuck at something that appears to be a wallpaper. After the "first-setup", after pressing yes on Location nothing happens, just a bluish wallpaper. I can move the cursor but thats it. Anyone got a clue ?

Hi ! I was asking myself about the feasibility of porting this ROM to the Nvidia Shield. I see there is a CM12 and an Android TV for the MOJO, but nothing for the Shield. They both have the same SoC, so maybe someone could guess how hard it could be ?
Having some Android TV features on the Shield (portable, not tablet) could be great I think, the launcher optimized for controller first.

We need to first port 5.0 to the shield. Not very hard to do it needs to be done based on an aosp tegra build as attempting to port a nvidia optimized build doesn't turn out well. So first you need to sync nvidia latest Roth branch and build 4.4.2 then you can base all source from that build. The binaries will be different and have different dependencies. Once that's done porting this will be fairly easily you only need to implement your audio with the current port I would not base it off of my port because I have tons of hacks hex edited blobs to load symbol we are missing from 4.2.2

Disclaimer:
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU, YOUR COMPUTER OR YOUR PHONE BY YOU FLASHING THIS ROM. EVEN IF IT'S NOT YOUR'S, I'M STILL NOT RESPONSIBLE. I'M ALSO NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING ISSUES YOU MAY BE HAVING BECAUSE OF MODS, HACKS AND TWEAKS YOU'VE APPLIED YOURSELF.
So I decided to create my own rendition of what LG should have made Verizon release. So, here's the first and currently only 47A custom ROM...
Things I've moved from the stock 47A base:
All OTA Stuff
95% of all Verizon stuff
All Google Stuff, except Chrome
All Amazon Stuff
LG Contacts
LG Dialer
LG EasyHome
LG Email
LG Favorites Widget
LG Voice Mate
LG SMS
Some ringtones
and some random bloat
I added the following:
The hotspot hack...
Googles Dialer (v2.3, not 1.01) has builtin VVM
Google Contacts
Outlook
Signal SMS
Motorola Alert
Some ringtones
Features:
Systemless Root
BusyBox
Permission SELinux Boot
Boosted Volume Output
Systemwide DPI = 590
Deodexed
Known Issues:
To come...
Installation:
MAKE A BACKUP FIRST!
If you aren't already on the 35B bootstack, flash it.
I recommend TWRP 3.0 because it's what I used when recompiling everything.
Wipe data & cache...
Flash the full release and any updates WITH A HIGHER BUILD NUMBER.
Reboot and enjoy! (If you are asked to install SuperSU, DON'T!!!)
After flashing the full ROM, it will reboot one time before booting fully.
Keep an eye for updates. Keep your phone updated.
I am uploading updated full release builds every couple of days so if you need to reinstall for what ever reason, you won't have to download a ton of updates.
I've modified the original system.img instead of created extracted folder type of ROM for flashing like most people do. I find this MUCH safer for flashing.
Download

Questions & Answers...
Q: I don't see the VVM table in dialer?
A: This relies on your using Google Voice. Like the actual Google Voice app. You can have it co-installed with Hangouts and it won't effect anything. Verizon DOES NOT allow Google Voice to auto configure the settings. You'll have to do that manually. When it gets to the page that has 3 buttons, one will be skip, one is configure and the other is something else. Press skip. When you have completed that part and you are looking at Google Voice inbox screen. Go to the phones dialer. Type *71[Your Google Voice number] *90[Your Google Voice number] and *92[Your Google Voice number]. In 'call settings' of the phone's dialer, you'll see an option for voicemail carrier, make sure it's on "your carrier" not google voice.
Q: xCam doesn't work for me?!!
A: There's a new version on the Dev's page for Marshmallow. The other versions won't work.
Q: Google announced a newer version of their dialer and contacts app, why can't I update?
A: Once Google actually releases the next version, you can always download it from APKMirror and install it as if it was an updated app manually.
Q: Can I use Verizon's Visual Voicemail with this ROM?
A: Yes, download it from here and flash in TWRP.
Q: I don't seem to have root after flashing the full release and the updates... What can I do?
A: Flash this file...
Q: When I receive phone calls, no one can here me! What's going on?
A: The problem is you aren't running 35B bootstrap or if you are, your modem isn't 35B for some reason. Flash the 35B bootstrap.
Q: I am not running 35B bootstrap, where can I download it?
A: Click here...
Q: I can use "Ok, Google!" from any screen with this ROM?
A: Yes, download the patch from here and flash in TWRP.

It's great to see devs still making roms for this phone. Thank you. Will check it out.
Thanks Roxana for sharing your Rom. Quick question since others may ask. Since you're using Google dialer then I'm assuming that advanced calling/video calling doesn't work through Verizon as well?

That is correct. I'll be releasing a patch file people can flash to restore the stock dialer so they can have that.
Edit: I was just looking at the thread for the stock 46a rom release, Advance Calling doesn't work on it's correctly and a few have said it's due to us not having a 46a Bootstrap. It's one of the reasons I prefer Google Voice.

Why did you remove the stock sms/mms? So far rom seems fast and stable. In the stock google dialer when you make a call it looks like the lg dialer? Any ideas to make it look completely like google dialer.

I removed the stock SMS/MMS app because it's hideous. Android 6, aka Marshmallow, has a very refinded UX. LG is just starting to work in that direction. They just haven't got there yet. I could have put Google Messager instead of Signal. Signal is VERY similar to GM as far as the UX goes but has way more features and security to it.
Thank you for your work! I'm up and running, only thing i had trouble with was chrome not working due to an error. I tried clearing cache and data without luck so I ended up unistalling via TB and reinstalling from play store without issues. Everything else is smooth and quick! Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. I'll see what's up. What error was it that it gave? It is a beta. I'm going to be working on fixing any issues that everyone finds and getting the next release out soon. Also, if people can post their download speeds and what speed connection you have. I'm curious how Google is doing for hosting the file or if I need to find a faster place to store it.
For me I could not download direct to my phone, kept giving a fail message. To my PC it was okay. But AFH is always a good spot to upload things, my 2 cents.

I unfortunately can't remeber what the error was now and it's fixed so infant replicate. Sorry not much help. I did have trouble with the download as well. Took me about 5 or 6 times to get a complete download. Other than that it's been running great all day. Will the update be a dirty flash or clean wipe? I'm also giving the outlook Mail app a shot, I like it so far. Thanks again!

I'm glad you are enjoying everything and that it's all running smoother. I've tried to produce an error with Chrome on first boot but I'm not able to. Might have been you're phone was already updating Google Services or something like that.
I'm already uploading the new update to Microsoft. It's going to be the full ROM just so I have a full copy on there. After this, it should be all incremental updates. This one and all that follow can be dirty flashed unless it's posted otherwise, which I hope never to have to do. Of course if you are having issues after flashing an update, wiping cache is always a good idea since I'm also working on framework stuff for future releases.

[ROOT][TWRP][ROM]Samsung Galaxy on5 [MetroPCS/T-Mobile]

Samsung Galaxy on5 is a pretty good phone for the price. Today I share my root method and debloated stock system backup for all to enjoy.
The version of TWRP I am linking to WAS NOT MADE BY ME. It is an official build of TWRP for our phone.
To prepare the phone to be rooted you will need a few things:
Download ODIN from the following link: Download ODIN
Download TWRP ODIN flashable TAR file for the on5 here: Download TWRP (It will say it is for T-Mobile only, but works on MetorPCS as well)
Download SuperSU Latest Stable here: Download SuperSU
Download Samsung Drivers if needed: Download Drivers
Once the above is downloaded you must then do the following:
On the phone goto Settings->About and tap "Build Number" 10 times to enable Developer Mode.
Go to Settings->Developer Mode and select "Enable OEM Unlock"
Then power off the device.
With the device powered off hold "VOL-DOWN + HOME + PWR" until Download mode appears.
Plug the phone into the computer and start ODIN with Administrator Rights.
Open Odin and place that TWRP TAR file in the [AP] slot, under Options tab disable Auto Reboot, then press [Start]
When ODIN says the flash is complete in the log window, pull the battery and put the battery back in.
Before turning back on hold "VOL-UP + HOME + PWR" to enter recovery.
Once in recovery go to Mount->Enable USB Mass Storage
Copy the SuperSU zip to the phone's storage
Disable USB Mass Storage
Go to Backup->Start Backup to backup the phone IN CASE OF ISSUES!!
Go to Install->Select SuperSU zip file and wait.
Once done, reboot the phone and you should be good!
For the custom ROM, I will be posting the information, instructions, and downloads on my website LINKED HERE You will find the download at the bottom of that page. If you have issues please let me know.
Download the system image from the link above
Extract the zip file to your external SD Card: (Example: Phone:\Ext_sd\TWRP\backups\)
Reboot into recovery (vol-up+home+pwr
Make sure System Read only is not enabled in Mount settings.
Select "Restore" -> Select the Folder you just put on your external SD Card
Wait for a few minutes.
After that is done, go back to the recovery home
Then select "Wipe"
Select "Data", "Cache", and "Dalvick Cache", and "Internal Storage" ONLY (
IF UPDATING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION YOU MUST CLEAR CACHE/DALVIK CACHE!!!!)
Slide to wipe.
Some users are reporting that you need to also restore DATA only from a stock ROM backup.
Then reboot.
Follow android setup as normal
Profit.
I got that phone today and I was looking for roms for it. this is all I ran across. I already rooted it and have twrp and whatnot, tweaked it some. I was wondering f this is the 6.0.1 rom and if I need to unzip it and place it where my other twrp backup is or do I just flash it like it is?

This is the latest OEM ROM, debloated and rooted. So it is 6.0.1 based. and yes it is a TWRP backup so place it on the internal (Or External) SD card under "sdcard://TWRP/BACKUPS/<RANDOM_ID>/"
It is pretty much completely debloated, left a couple samsung stuff in to keep some features working, but most bloat is gone, which gives a lot of space back to the user, figured I would post it here for others to use if they wanted
I used it. Its nice, saved me a gig. I have all the apps I really want on sd card and now I have almost 2 gigs free. Was at about 750mb. Thnks for this, saved me a bit of work! Appreciated!

Adaptable Storage is a Kernel level thing, one way to do adaptable storage is to remount the SDCARD (While it is formatted to ext3), and mount it to (Or as) a folder in the /user-data partition (/data).
I can attempt to modify the kernel to allow this, but it might brick the phone because of Knox or something. I will try it out on a spare.
Edit:
Install busybox, then try the instruction here (Note the sm list-disks command, MAKE SURE TO DO THIS)

ey i'm lookin to debloat my g550t1 but i dont really want to lose everything to install the rom. is there any chance you'd be able to give a quick run down on what's safe to remove? if not that's cool, i realize it'd probably be fairly uninteresting to you and time consuming.
anyways thanks for the work! glad to see this phone getting more love. hope more good stuff comes in the future.

What you van do here is boot into TWRP and make a backup of just your data, or a full backup if you want. Then restore thos rom (its only boot and system) then go to the backup you just made and them restore just the data. Thats what I did. You can delets all the knox apps. I did, then I went looking in all the folders and deleted anytbong that said knox in the name. I deleted a few security files and also beacon manager. If you dont get all the security files, you get a "unfortunatly security has stopped" eroor one time after boot.
All the knox can go without any extra work..
I have busybox and adoptable storage will not work. If you can fix it cool, if not, still cool! Just wish I had a little bit more storage on here for apps.

Any help installing xposed framwork in the samsung galaxy on5 ?
How do you install xposed framework in the samsung galaxy on5? (Sorry if this is out of place I always end up in a boot-loop and can't find a way to successfully install it
(The way I recover from that is using twrp and using a xposed unistaller zip file located here --->

This is the one I use, just install this, wipe delvic cache and wait. And I mean wait like 5 minutes.
And just to be clear, this mod was mafe by Wanam. This is just a link.

The file is "xposed-v80.0-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160211.zip" install it from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24411628330026060 and you'll be ready to go. After that you might go to this process saying starting apps 0 out of 200 (something like that) and tells you a service/app has stop and gives you a black screen. After that take out the battery and put it back again and turn on your phone and would give you a "starting apps" prompt again. The whole process took me bout 15 min. Btw thanks whodisname for some help highly appreciate it! Have a good day guys!!!

I used "xposed-v80.0"
This one is newer. Version 85.1
Download from the page on the link. I didnt have to do anything but install it. Once you flash it, reboot your phone and set it down for a little while. Go make some coffee or whatever. Gunna look like a bootloop. Leave it alone for 5 or 10 minutes. Then you will see it optimizing apps. Depending on what you did gonma be like 190- 250 apps. Jusy let it go. It worked like a charm on mine. Make sure you dont have any modules downloaded yet. Do that when its done.
The version is 85.1 sdk 23.
Sdk 21 is for 5.0 sdk 22 is for 5.1.1 and sdk 23 is for 6.0.1.

Install "L-Speed" from playstore, use advanced mode in app and then go to town on the kernel modifications/optimizations.
Im using "Watson" from somewhere on here. To be honest, it isnt that helpful, just slightly. I fingd this phone to be plenty snappy.
Maybe you have someyhing on there thats not acging right?
My only beef with this phone is yhat MEMORY. Damn they could have made it with just a tad more.
