How to root no pc - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi techies,
So I want to root my galaxy s6 edge, my laptop has screwed up an I have no other way of reinstalling windows so I want to attempt to do it with my phone and apparently this requires rooting the phone, i have downloaded a windows iso to my phone and I do have a card reader that plugs into my phone to transfer files either way.
But I'm finding all this rooting business rather confusing, i have no access to a pc, which is obviously what I need to root I have seen some apps but they mention Roms and recovery software (phone) I'm just so confused by it all.
I'd love some help and if someone could help me through it I'd be grateful I did install kingaroot but then it asks for a payment which I can't provide at the moment, I've got around £2 in the bank kings root want $10, if any one can help I'd appreciate it.

There is no confirmed and stable rooting method available for your device without PC.
If you want to install windows on your phone, please read this thread:
Can you install Windows 10 on a galaxy S6 with 128Gi of memory?
Answer (1 of 4): No. 1. It's an ARM processor, so you could only get ARM Windows versions: Mobile and "for small tablets". Or IoT. They don't support desktop apps, so they're quite useless. 2. It's an Android based device, so the low-level firmware only supports Android. Unlike PCs, mobile device...

Maybe better to think about another solution, such as repair your laptop or get another windows compatible device.

File access from locked down win xp machine

The situation is this: at work the computers are heavily locked down. By that I mean that you can not download and install anything, no cd rom access and no usb access. they run win xp (some of you may be too young to have heard of this)
I have recently discovered, however, that when i plug my galaxy s3 in, the pc sees it as a digital camera, and i can access every folder on the internal sd card through windows explorer. i can then transfer any file i like to the computer
This never happened on my g note, nexus s, or any other device.
Now, I can only confirm that the above works on xpower 2.5 ics custom rom. when I changed to hypergalaxy jb rom, there was no access to my phone via the pc.
Can anyone help me to understand how and why this works, and how i might use a hack to enable any usb device on such a locked down pc?

No since they are work computers and are supposed to be locked down attempting to hack them will just get you fired since the IT department will be watching everything or notice it the next time they need to do work on that computer so if you value your job don't attempt this.

Some devices just need their own drivers installed before they can connect as normal USB/MTP storage devices.

[Q] Android all mobiles installation

HI,
The other day i was thinking while flashing a rom onto my galaxy nexus and i thought Why thres no one only android that can be installed in all the mobile phones, i mean like when you install linux you can choose between a lot but it can be installed on every computer it adapts itself to the computer.
Why can't it be done in android?, its because that will take a lot of space?
sorry if its a silly cuestion XD.
now i feel curious too.
but you mean why can't android be installed in every phone/device right?
maybe because if we try to install android in a windows phone or iphone, android doesn't have the driver for the hardware or android can't access the hardware.
which means the device is rendered useless.
but that's just my newbie opinion.
I mean why roms have to be always adapted to every phone, a computer os is mor or less universal, my wonder s if its possible to make a rom that can be install in all phones(obviusly is hard to do it in windows phoner nor iphones but), so the rom just addapts herself to the phone you've flashed to taking the info about the device and if needed download the drivers or something like that.

Can SGH-t399 be rooted with Heimdall
I have rooted/modded several devices in the past. However, I recently ended up with only access to a Mac computer, I purchased this phone over the holiday and am unsure when i will have access to a Windows desktop to run the appropriate scripts. I downloaded and installed Heimdall / Frontend and was curious to know if i would be able to use this instead of ODIN to root my samsung Galaxy light. I haven't found any information about it yet, and i want to research a bit before doing something that may brick my phone in its vulnerable "recovery-less" state.
Also; My phone was purchased at metro pcs, and is sporting different build and version numbers than what I've seen on the internet. I haven't seen many posts in 2015 so i was wondering if the exploit had been patched in a recent update or something. Any information would be appreciated as to how to root this on a mac, or via Heimdall. Ive included the build number and such in case that may effect my options.. thank you
Android version 4.4.2
Baseband version t399NUVUANK3
Kernel 3.4.39-2903595
Build number KOT49H.t399NUVUANK3
Believe it or not if im correct the firmware for both can be used on either version because they are basically identical. I was able to run metropcs on my tmobile. Also have you tried running a windows emulator on your mac. You can try that and see if it works. Let me know if it works ok.

I did try running an emulator. I am using the current version of virtual box on the current version of Mac osx. The problem is I can't get the virtual machine ( windows xp) to read my host (Mac) to share internet connections. So I can't download Odin onto the guest. Also, I tried mounting a folder with Odin and the root files but it doesn't show up. Same with USB stick. I don't want to derail this thread into a topic of using virtual box, but I can't seem to find anything on the internet in laymen's terms about how to workaround this problem. I'm pretty sure my version of virtual box has the necessary guest extensions installed with it. I've come soooo far in my quest for root. Any help if you have knowledge on this subject would be appreciated. And yes, I am looking for the shared folder on the guest machine within network connections via windows explorer .

Gapps TVstock installation on Android TV 7.1, how to do it?

hi, i trying to use the TVstock Gapps package on geek till it hertz's Android TV 7.1 Nougat for PC (build on Android x86)
i am unsure on how to proceed with the installation of the package
my hope is that others who want to make their own Android TV with Gapps will find this post useful and might make videos or more in depth tutorials on the subject
but at this current point, i don't know how to proceed
but this is a summery of what i currently have to work with
1. Android TV 7.1 running on VMWare Workstation 14 player NON ROOTED (couldn't get it working on actual hardware will solve that later, but as far as i know this shouldn't be different on actual hardware then on a virtual machine)
2. a USB (for transferring files and apks, there is no drivers for android to allow file copying, it also has no Ethernet capability so i have to use a USB wireless device to allow for a network connection)
i have tried rooting this device with various root methods, with no success, the opereating system seems to dismiss it, when i tried a terminal method, apps couldn't still see that i had rooted the device even when i remounted the system partition so i could write it to it, apps still couldn't see that the device was rooted
i want to try and get this done without rooting but i am happy to try again with other suggested rooting methods
thanks for reading and i hope you can help me and others with the same problem

Doesn't Multilaser M7 3g plus deserve a way to root?

Sorry if I'm uninformed, but I spent a few days looking for a method to root the infamous multilaser m7. A tablet with a very bad performance to install a virtual machine and at the same time super complicated in terms of compatible tools to improve its android 9. Has anyone experienced this problem, have any tips besides advising me to burn it or play In the trash?
My final objective is get remote access in this tablet without confirmation... none of most usable tools (Airdroid, Anydesk, teamviewer) work in this tablet without confirmation ou USB temporary confirmation every time the devise turn off or the tool updated. In respect of this last thing, I know that here isn't the best place to ask, but all help is welcomed.

AFAIK the 3 mentioned apps make use of a Wi-Fi connection and not of a USB connection. Once you are going to establish a remote connection this must be confirmed, will say the appropriate connection ID must get input.

I agree ... they use wi-fi connection, thanks to God for that ... what I said is that I need to connect to the tablet without confirmation, I need to leave the tablet in my store and just upload and configure it remotely. For this, even installing the Teamviewer and AnyDesk plugins, and activating the direct connection option of Airdroid using USB without root, it is still not possible to maintain a connection with that tablet (mind cracker multilaser m7). Better options for example using Airdroid would be possible if it were possible to root this infamous.
@criph
Because tablet is powered by Mediatek chipset you can try to flash a pre-rooted Android ( Custom ROM ) by means of SP Flash Tool or do it the hard way by flashing a Custom Recovery ( e.g. TWRP ), then flashing Magisk framework via TWRP and finally root Andoid by means of Magisk Manager.

Don't know if you're still interested.
Using App Ops you may grant Anydesk or whatever the ability to always accept external connections.
To enable App Ops on a device without root, you will also need Shizuku. Follow the instructions on the screen.
