The modem is a fax modem, if you use through the bootloader (see

odem ). From the device, it should (we haven't done any
tests) behave as a fax modem through TAPI.
There is ommercial fax software available for Pocket PC, we
currently do not know if these packages must use AT commands or
can go through TAPI.
Talking to the modem directly from Pocket PC without TAPI in the
way remains an interesting topic.

We just checked, and TAPI does not know about fax capabilities
of the modem, even though the GSM part seems to be a fax modem.

The software needs a special DLL, which one is dependent on
whether it's an O2 XDA or T-Mobile MDA. They are working on a

A company called KSE Software in Germany is in the process of
creating "KSE Truefax 2.0 Phone Edition", which runs on the XDA.
We've tested it, but they have since removed the announcment
(for Jan 2003) from their site. So who knows...

SOme Good News
Im based in SA and we are currently testing the fax software for the O2 and i have some good news for you all, keep an eye on the O2 websites and other software sites....The software is about to be released and we have tested it successfully. You will however need to download 2 files to patch your O2 to operate with the package......there will be patches for T-mobile and O2 and thus far we have tested it successfully on another version of this lovely HTC device....The software is KSE's Truefax ver 2.02

2.02 and 2.03 are not working on my XDA, they disable the radio once loaded, I have ROM 3.16.13ENG and Radio 3.19.01
There is nothing mentioned about these patches in the download page of O2, can you tell me where to get them from ?

Version numbers
The O2 Asia fax software KSE Truefax 2.03 will cause your radio to hang and never turn on if you are running the leatest CE and Radio load from HTC.
If you are running 3.16.13 or later then the radio will never turn on if you install Truefax. KSE replace rilgsm.dll and other files that are from the previous version of CE and radio.
They are obviously not using the Pocket PC 2002 SDK for fax control, but a dirty hack using rilgsm.dll.

Too many ROM's
Hi All,
I'm in Oz and when I tired to download the latest version of the WM6 for Atom Life the only file listed was this:
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2140907B2.exe (Flash.dio dated 15th May 07)
Reading through the XDA forums I managed to fine this one:
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2150507B1.exe (Flash.dio dated 19th Sept 07)
and now there was a new posting in XDA for this one:
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2170507B2.exe (Flash.dio Dated 17th May 07)
Can anyone shed some more information on the progress on these ROM's
I'm in the process of stripping a ROM to the bear bones for speed and somewhere to start for developers, but there is no point if I don't have the latest ROM to start with.

EDIT: Dates of dump files updated. If you go by the Flash.DIO file date, the ROM C2150507B1 is the latest. More Odd stuff...

That is not the latest one. The latest one is still RC2140907B2

I'm not sure about this, but my Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2140907B2 has FLASH.DIO dated 14 September 2007. The name of the file actually state the date of the FLASH.DIO
Anyway, here's the history of the release

- All O2 and bonus applications come preinstalled
- O2 Connect has bugs

- Second release
- All O2 and bonus applications are not preinstalled
- Windows Live has bugs. Auto dial even WiFi is connected
- O2 Connect has bugs
Xda_Atom_Life_WM6_WWE_RC2140907B2.exe
- Third release
- All O2 and bonus applications are not preinstalled except O2 Connect
- Windows Live bugs fixed but auto dial if "Send/Receive" is used in Messaging for Windows Live account.
