Memory upgrade ?? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi !
Has somebody made an Memory-Upgrade for the XDA ??
I've found this: http://www.pocketpctechs.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=XDA-032-128RAM
But I think for me it's to expencive to send the xda to america and return to germany.
May be did somebody knows how to update the xda to 64 or to 128 MB by self?
Thankx
Stevie

Try Expansys
I know that Expansys offer this as a service, but it is UK based. This is still the same PPCTechs upgrade, I assume they either have the knowledge and do it here or they ship it over and absorb the cost. Seeing as the turnaround is four days, I think the 'do it here' option is most likely.
Check out these urls...
for 64mb upgrade

for 128 mb upgrade
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=XDA-032-128RAM
There is a link at the top of the pages to Expansys France, maybe this is closer to you?
Otherwise, you can pay me to courier it for you, I quite fancy a trip abroad.
rgds,
Alex.

First: Thanx 4 your offer to handle it in the UK!!!
Hi!
It's interessting, but too expencive.
My interrest is, how they do it and what kind of changes u must do with the xda? second the typ of memory u need and where to buy it.
The reason of self upgrading is second, that O2 germany says: there's no more garanty on your PDA, when somebody opened it...
by the way: on the france side they carry the xda's to the UK
Stevie

I'm just thinking I have seen some in depth pictures about the memory upgrade (they're probably on this site!! ) but it's going-home time now.
I'll have a surf tomorrow and see if I can find it. Pocket PC Passion springs to mind if you can't wait.
rgds,
Alex.

Memory upgrade
I was able to upgrade an iPaq 3635 using the directions at http://www.kensteele.org/ipaq/memory-upgrade.html . I imagine the upgrade only requires the memory chips be swapped, similar to the iPaq upgrade, assuming you find pin compatible chips.
Good luck, and post results here. I'll be attempting it myself, but I want to wait till my 12 month warrantee expires.

There is a memory upgradeservice in the netherlands. A upgaid costs €99,= for a 64 MB upgraide.
http://www.sfinx.demon.nl/palm/

Thanks 4 this links...
I've found a german side who's update the xda for 119 Euro and takes
the warranty up to 24 Month's!!!
I think I try this...

Actually, I had mine done by this firm, took only 3 working days sending/receiving. Works like a charm! Really recommended!

Anyone had any luck with Expansys?
I've placed an order twice now with expansys, but have still not received any info about my order. Does anyone know what is going on there?

xda camera

Is there one in the UK market? If so, whats the price? Anyone know?
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32242&item=3337930700
but i asked for one in the uk
thats germany
Phone 02 and they said no way never will there be a add on camera for the xda and was told to buy the xda2 so maybe that link is fake?
In th link they say: "Bus (SPI / MMC / SDIO mode)"
So. i´m not sure it will work with the xda, because the xda supports only sd and not sdio...
I´m going to ask the seller about this....
Regards
Stefan
right well let me know what they say please

Not sure about the link but I know for sure that the camera is not fake,
because a friend of mine has/uses that exact camera.
Was that bought in the uk? where from? how much?
Then there's the ViewTake CM35c for the Pocket PC Phone (XDA)-- It's a color 640x480 camera that fits into the SD slot but does not require SDIO capabilites. It's made specifically for the XDA by Gabor Vision Corp., and it will be available soon, one Pocket PC Passion user discovered. Another said he has spoken with reps who said the device would be out in the fall for about $75. Read more at Pocket PC Thoughts and Pocket PC Passion.

i have purchased one for my xda. got it from ebay, uk seller sent from the usa, works well apart from the fact it doesnt lock into the sd card slot.

when is the mdaII coming to the t-mobile stores in the US

ewhen is the mdaII coming to the t-mobile stores in the united states hmmm
Have you fallen asleep
Sorry mate, but those mdaII are already arround for a few mnths.
Be a bit more specific, to which country
"ewhen is the MDA II coming to the t-mobile stores in the united states hmmm"
Must be getting blind
Jezus, its time I replace those lenses, I hope i kissed my wife goodby this morning and not somebody else his wife.
ummm ur confused
I'm not so certain that T-Mobile USA will carry the MDA II or perhaps they would call it PPC Phone II. With all the new devices coming out, Motorola MX, HP 6000, these devices maybe picked up in the US, before the MDA II and in fact the MDA II may never see the light of day in the US. HTC seems to be way behind production anyway. It is hard to get the device period, let alone a mass production for the US. With all the new devices coming out I'm wondering how well HTC is going to be positioned for the world market, let alone the US, in this form factor.
Hard sayin Mate.

ive talked to some guy at t-mobile and they said some time in march it would come to the market but he wasnt certian hnmmmm
Everything I have heard has been that T-Mobile will not be releasing it here in the US. Apparently they are going to market another device here.

there too expensive i was figuring a 500 dollar.. thats how much it would cost if t-mobile in the us carrys it and they told me that they would come in march but they have to wait to get all the manuals and documents to actually release it so they can troubleshoot it too
im wondering if theres a place where the t mobile market keeps a secret to the public to when the xda2 will come out to tmobile stores or if they ever will

I agree with you about the price, $650.00 is about as much as I'm willing to spend and thats with tax included.
hmm i want to buy a xda2 but not on ebay and i live in the us where could i get one
I agree too!!!!
I agree with all of you guy about the price, is too expensive to spend more than $700 for something that you won’t have technical support /warranty/ US plugs, and staff like that!!!!!

Yes it seems that everyone is out-of-stock at the moment. I just came from Thailand and had no luck either.
But have you not given that Expansys link above I would not have noticed a great looking inexpensive new powerPC phone on their pages that is similar to XDA.

Phone seems interesting and graphics chip performance looks REAL good too. I'd like to see more reviews on this one.
.
It does look like an interesting PDA/phone . . . but not having BlueTooth for wireless headset NOR WiFi does limit the device a bit, doesn't it? Sure, it supports SDIO, in which you could use a WiFi or BT card - but not both simultaneously. I use that configuration a good bit with my i-mate.
Still . . . it is good to see the line of available products expanding - pushing the envelope is a good thing!

Is there any difference between u1000 and ameo

hi all is there any hardware difference between ameo and u 1000.
coz i heard that theres a micro drive issue in the ameo
No, originally people had issues with some of the Microdrives in the U1000, but that has all been sorted now. I think it was software related, but there is no difference in hardware between the two devices.

it's a easy decision for you, if you only want the silver one, go for Ameo, since it's cheaper (on ebay maybe) or just sign up a contract with T-mobile, now some thing you will need to know, All three machine (HTC Advantage, T-mobile Ameo, DOPOD U1000) has Microdrive issue, it's to do with their ROM, you are more likely to find it on Advantage compare to DOPOD U1000 OR Ameo, Actually, DOPOD U1000 is even less likely to happen compare to Ameo due to it's recent ROM update.
If you are not T-mobile customer and will be using other sim card, then you need to consider the sum unlock issue, you can get it done by paying some money.
If you are new to PDA and don't know what CID lock is, and you would want to update your ROM frequently, then t-mobile might not be such a good chose, they don't provide that must support on upgrade and currently there are no promise on WM6 update too.
So really, you should ask yourself these question, are you going to use it with other sim card other then T-mobile (other country)? will you want to upgrade to latest ROM (wm6) without breaking the warranty?
Good luck with your decision, after all, you are about to purchase a wonderful device.
Thanks wu
i am going to use another sim and its unlocked and without warranty
i think pof or asukal or gurus like u might find out how 2 unlock cid
i will go for ameo then
thanks a lot buddy

Convert X01HT Back to Original Japanese version

It seems that I can't get away with my X01HT. I upgraded it to WM6 , and it's working perfectly.
But now I have to leave japan, and my university sent us a notification that if we don't cancel our cell phone contracts, they will contact our university and we'll be in deep ****. Anyway they said, they will probably block the next students coming for an exchange. I don't want that so, I need to make this X01HT to all default settings. Does anyone knows how to do that?
If you like the X01HT, keep it and just buy one there in Japan and turn that new one in.
Problem is they don't sell it just like in the stores. And if I pay for it to my provider legally, it'll cost around 500$, which I don't have.

why should your university force you to cancel the mobile phone contract???
what kind of bull*** is that???
cant you just keep the contract and than the phone is yours after two years?
dont understand why it is the university business?
dp
i did it right now!
since my X01HT was flashed to many wwe wm6, radio 1.43, if u try to use shipped.ruu from htc japan, its freeze at bootloader.
get the RUU_X01HT_1.33.762_Xbow and unpack
run RUU_X01HT_1.33.761.4_1.14.00.10.exe this will extract HERMIMG_Vodafone_1.33.761.5_SHIP.nbh to c:\documents and settings\local config\temp\somewhere (use the search for HERMIMG_Vodafone)
copy this nbh to extract Xbow folder, then rename to RUU_signed.nbh overwriting the old one (and cancel previous process, right box)
run ROMUpgradeUt.exe (under Xbow), the process run very slow, its a full replacement;
ipl and spl was before 1.04 and 2.1Olipro, now is 1.01 and 1.09 and the radio downgraded from 1.43 to 1.14
(i wait that u understand the text above, this isnt my native language! )

The warrenty is void when you flash it to an English ROM...
I hope now that I did your steps that they accept it again,,.
telnar,
you can always cancel your Softbank contract and pay the remaining owed for the X01HT instalment, right?
If you've got no use for your phone, perhaps you would like to sell to me? Let me know if you're interested, I'm in Tokyo. PM me

No they don't ship outside off UK. I already checked that, because that price is indeed cheap.
Although you need pay in pounds and the bank ( credit card ) also wants its share.
get it from Expansys, i think they ship to India
http://www.expansys.com/htc-evo-3d-black-eu-adapter+uk-plug-225592/
shame you can't get someone in UK to order it from ASDA and then ship it over - do you have any english friends that could do that?
Well you have services for that. Buy services, who buy for you and ship it to you. Just search online.
But then it will be more expensive. Mauw I think you shouldn't do that let someone else buy it. If you don't live in UK then you just have bad luck, if you there on vacation then just let it be delivered to your hotel room.
haha that is no worries..
they have international delivery too.. and i will get item in just 2-5 days.. so that shoudnt be a problem.
but before i purchase i just wanted to know will they device will work in my country and whether or not the site is spam..
coz the device rate is like too low..
It will work if they use GSM in India. But the stock rom will probably have no India language, but someone if you got your country sim card in it will detect India language.
But for the stock you need to use morelocales from the market. In custom roms you find all languages I believe. But know what you do before you purchase your device on the other side off the world.
I bought mine GF an HTC Sensation in the Netherlands and it was original from the UK, but I took it in mine backpack to China and tested it before, so if something was wrong I could easy return it, but in your case if you want return it you need pay expensive shipping cost back to the UK.
As it was from UK that meant there was no option to Choose chinese, but its in there anyway, you just need use this app.

hmm..thanks DexterMorganNL, language is not an issue. im fine with english only.
as you quoted. its going to be a problem if there is some issue with device, its going to cost me a lot to ship the item back to the UK and get it replace.
although they have promised me they wont charge anything extra to re-ship the replaced item.
Yep but you still need send the item back before you get an replacement. Warranty I believe is handled by HTC world wide, but better hope you never need use warranty because in worse case they will say you need ship it to UK.
Have you also though about customs? I don't know the customs in your country, but in mine country the custom always want there share, especial with an phone.

ive got many international shipments delivered at my location with out any shares.

but the item comes via DHL Express. are there chances of customs charging?? :O
Depends on the custom law in your country, but in my country customs charge you starting from € 20. I don't know how that is handled in India.
