First of all, I cant even get started beacuase i cant find the above path. Can someone show me which directory it is located. I used file explorer and cant even locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER directory anywhere.
Please help.

You need a registry editor like Tascali Regedit or so.
But unless you don't know what exactly you are doing, don't mess with it too much. Always check and double check what you are changing. if you know nothing about registry, don't even start to mess with it.

I see.. I just want to edit the registry to remove the battery warning at 40%.
Can you show me where i should insert the string?

You wrote it already, didn't you?
I don't see what's so annoying about it, it warns me at 40 and 20% and then at 3% or so. Isn't that all right?

the problem is, it warns everytime, the device is turned on, so you have in germany the problem with the o2-homezone-display, which turns the device on at every cell-change

Increase "On battery power"

Not sure what I did but I updated the the new ROM 3.12...
In the LOCK option in settings, I have the ability the set the battery timeout to 12 hours. Now it have gone back to default and not sure if it was due to me loading Pocket Toolman and Tweak2k.net after the update. I cannot find the manual reg setting to change the time. Can anyone give me that reg tweak?
Thx
Sorry...I titled it wrong but I meant the "lock" option

[Q] How to change the vibration pattern for sms?

im not too happy with the phones stadart vibration pattern for incoming calls and sms - its way too long and too 'loud'; is there a way to somehow chage it permanently? that would make my life a whole lot easier.anyone a idea? thanks
yup...I totally agree with you!I also need to know how to edit the vibration.
maybe by changing something in the registry would help..
there MUST be a way. ever noticed the short vibration when switching the phone on.
somehow it should be possible to edit it
yup and I'm pretty sure that it can be done by editing the registry..
hey there, after a bit of searching on the net i found something that might help us out.
i found the registry scripts for incoming calls and sms.
if you go to HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\
youll find a entry called script
this entry describes the phone's action on an incoming call. if your phone is in "Normal" profile mode the script should be "av0pw3r"
the letters stand for the following commands:
a - start loop
v - vibration in seconds (0=infinite)
p - play ringtone
w - wait "x" seconds
r - repeat loop
now the problem in this whole thing is, that this script always changes automatically to another variaton depending on your active profile.
e.g. if you switch your phone to "vibrate" profile the original code would be
"av3w3r" lets assume youd like the vibration to be active only for one second instead of three. the code would then logically be "av1w3r".
switching back to "normal" profile would set the script back to "av0pw3r" and switching once more back to "Vibrate" would still change the script into the old one "av3w3r" even if you changed it before to "v1".
i have no clue how to teach the phone to keep the changed settings but maybe someone out there would pick my idea up and try to create a tiny app for these registry keys to PERMANENTLY be edited and changed.
with sms it is pretty much the same deal.
since there is no Script entry in HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS\ i simply created one in vibrate mode. its av1 for me.
the bad news with this entry is that the phone wont change it at all when switching profiles so youd have to change it manually every time youd like a different style for your incoming sms pattern (av1pr for a short vibration, then playing the sms sound, then a repeat).
this is how far ive come with my resarch about this. it would be really nice to catch some motivated programmer's attention on this topic to make the scripts change with different profiles.
greetings

A)see if you can find the registry that changes the profiles and see if u can edit vibration there.
B)If you can't change the vibration from there then :
1.find and extract the registry that switches profile to normal.
2.edit the vibration script from "av3w3r" to "av1w3r"
3.Extract the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\
4.edit the sms script
5.extract the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS\
6.Now you have 3 registry files, merge them to 1 file using nothepad(1st the file from step 1,then from step 3,then from 5).
Do the same for each profile.
That way you will have a reg file for each profile. Now every time you want to switch between profiles just run the corresponding
reg file.
I didn't manage to find a way to edit the registry permanently...
All I've done is that I have created a ".reg" file that edits the vibration script to av1w3r...So every time after I switch a profile I run this file and vibration becomes edited...
I have added this "reg" file at the start menu and I have set a hot key for it.So I just press "button 2" and the vibrations becomes 1 second.
i couldnt find any profile settings for the scripts neither, but im glad you could at least create a alternative way, thanks a lot on this. is there a way i can add a reg entry for the sms script too?it should be something like 'v1' in meeting profile and 'v1p' in normal mode. but since originally there isnt any script for the sms the phone wouldnt change it automatically back when in normal mode so it must be edited each time switching modes thats the problem. i dont really know how to manage this without creating a second cab, but that would make the whole thig even more difficult

The best think I can think of..is making some kind of little program based on reg files..that will switch between profiles...but unfortunately I don't know how to make one...
At the moment I have just made separated reg files to edit vibration for sms and ringtone.
------------------------------
Vibration.reg:sets ringtone to av1pw1r and sms to av1
sms to av1.reg:sets sms to av1
sms to av1p.reg:sets sms to av1p
ringtone av1pw1r:sets ringtone to av1pw1r
------------------------------------------
using these you can select the vibration you like each time.

Preventing the phone from killing background apps

Hi, this may have been asked before, but I can't seem to find a straight answer for it:
I've got a Huawei Mate 10 Pro. The damn phone keeps killing apps running in the background, no matter how I configure the "Launch" menu. Is there any way to prevent the phone from killing apps running in the background? Even the 'Lock' button on the apps in the app manager screen doesn't prevent that from happening!
It's worth mentioning that my phone is not rooted, nor is going to be any time soon, since it seems so much riskier to root this phone than it is with other phones.
.......delet.....
Go to settings - battery - launch and find the app you don't want to be terminated then change to manual mode(ensure that you enable the 3 options especially run in background)
Or go to special access - ignore Battery optimization - select all apps then scroll to the app you want not to be terminated, tap on it, select allow then click OK and exit

[App] Battery Charge Limit control file

For anyone who is rooted and wishes to use the app Battery Charge Limit, this is the control file you need to add to the settings.
1. Open Battery Charge Limit app
2. Open settings (the gear icon in the top right corner)
3. Enable "Configurable CTRL File Data"
4. Click "Configure Control Data"
5. Click "I Understand" on the Advanced Users Only warning
6. Under Set Path to Desired File, type:
Code:
/sys/class/power_supply/battery/device/smartchg_stop_charging
7. Under Set Enabled Value, type:
Code:
0
8. Under Set Disable Value, type:
Code:
1
9. Click "UPDATE CTRL FILE DATA"
I have submitted a pull request to the app developer's Github for this control file to be added to the app, but in the mean time users can manually do this to be able to use the app.
so,this is about the percentage limit or the ampere-voltage limit?

Percentage limit. The app (not developed by me) is designed to limit the maximum charge of the battery to keep the battery health good. Most li-ion battery degradation occurs when the battery is charged up to and/or held at 100% charge. By limiting the maximum charge to like 80% or even 90%, your battery will degrade MUCH slower that normal. The ROG Phone 2 already has a similar feature built in that you can activate, but some people might still prefer to use this app anyway.
Thank you very much! <3
Can someone confirm that this works with ROG Phone 1? I will try it asap and report back. I almost lost hope.
Works with ROG Phone 1!
You can otherwise use the built in planned charge limit feature of the phone. Just make it cover the whole day and voila.
just use this
Don't fret too much. Just use a Chargie (https://chargie.org), it works with both rooted and non-rooted phones. It costs a few bucks, because it involves external hardware, but it works like charm. It even has delayed charging like the iPhones, only much more configurable.

But this file will be specific to your phone device. For my motorola E4 I am unable to find such file. It have "status" file . I think this is the file but when I add any content in this file, it immediately overwrite by system.

Developer Options / minimum width settings

How does this setting work?
I can decrease it and everything goes bigger, increase it and everything is smaller. I can tweak it to whatever I want, set my zoom/font and get all my apps running/looking how I want them to and then (randomly, sometimes within minutes) I'll open an app and it looks all wrong. When I check the MW it has changed. Or everything can be running smoothly and when I check the MW it has changed. And the figures keep varying, 824, 580, 600, all sorts but never the figure that I have set.
Is there something that I need to do to make the setting stick?
Why does it keep changing?
Or, how do I just reset the MW to default and start again, because everywhere I read on the Internet people quote different "default" figures and I am guessing that it's because everyone sees the question being asked, check their device and at that specific time it says XXX?
Should disabling Dev Ops reset the defaults? Or does (or should) turning off DO lock the setting at the figure last entered?
Thanks.
In fact (as I have just discovered), I can enter a figure, come out of the settings and go straight back in and the dpi is different?
