oneandone.co.uk email on xda - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

oneandone.co.uk from what I can gather a re a very popular donaim name regsitrar, and web hoster etc...
So I'm hoping that somebody here has had experience with setting them up on their XDA
Their server requires authentification for receiving mail, I think, not quite sure of this. I know that I had trouble setting peoples emails up at work for this. And I made it easier for me then by doing the following.
1. Intall the chosen person's account on my computer.
2. get it to work!!!
3. Save/ export the settings.
4. copy to appropriate employees pc.
5. Test
6. Probably re-enter password again..
7. works ok . . . .
Any help much appreciated.

I now use the XDA with my works vodafone sim. Thanks for the crash tip to allow other sim card use. The device has become indespensible as a phone book, and notes taker...
Thanks

Cert not installing?

OK. I've app unlocked my phone as per post 188 here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372717 (Thanks Erofich) and now when I try and install my server certificate I no longer get the message that my I don't have permission but I don't get the message saying it's been installed either (nothing seems to happen) and I still get a cert error when I try and sync. Any ideas?
Thanks
If you have changed the 1017 policy to 144, then it should allow it.
You dont get a confirmation message on installation though. So check settings, security, certificates, root certificates to make sure it has gone into the right place.
If its there and you get the error then the cert doesnt match the server...
Thanks. The cert is there.
It is the same cert I have been using successfully on my Ameo (where you do get a confirmation message) so I'm now stumped
Its definitely in the root certs?
I would start at the beginning and double check server name and sync settings on device.
Its definitely in the root certs.
The name on the cert is the server name I connect to and everything 'seems' fine, but I still get 0x80072F0D invalid cert.
I downloaded the cert from my certsrv and have double checked my ActiveSync settings and confirmed the server name, user name, password and domain.
Anything else I can check?
Thanks
Hmmm... as long as you are using the FQDN for the server, then there is no reason for it not to work.
I wonder if you delete the partnership and recreate it (now the certificate is installed) it might help?
Deleted the account and tried again. Still no joy. And I am using the FQDN.
I'm hopefully going to update to WM6 over the w/e so will try again then.
Thanks for your help.
Ah... I thought you might have already done the WM6 thing. It does resolve some issues like this.
I just flashed an 8500 to WM6 this week using the guides here and it went fine (as did exchange syncing).
Well...
Just upgraded to WM6 and still the same problem
Do you have access to the server itself? Or is it a work/hosted server?
If its your own server, you could try a fresh cert export (just in case yours is in the wrong format) by opening up an MMC and Add a SnapIn - Certificates, select Local Machine. In the Personal Folder, export the Root trusted cert that you are using for your SSL. Export it in the DEP x.509 cert format. Copy it to your PPC and
click on it to install it.
OK - went to server and my FQDN was in my root certs 3 times!
I exported all 3 and imported to phone and it's now happily syncing away.
Many thanks for all your help and your clear instruction s on how to export my certs. So simple even I could follow them.
Now running WM6 AKU 0.5 - pity you can't get it in English but I can understand American.
Thanks again for all your help.
Superb news.
Most people have problems with just one certificate!
That's what I like about this site - not only are people amaisingly helpful, but they seem genuinely pleased when a problem gets resolved
Thanks again
Hi folks,
sorry for being late, i think I can point you to the right direction:
As per Daniel Melanchton (german MVP for Mobile Devices), you need two certificates. One ist the cert for the server and one is the root cert. The root cert is needed for the mobile device checks also the origin of your cert (in german called "Zertifzierungstelle" e.g. Thawte). There's a perfect documentation floating around in the web, but it's only in available in german (called ex2k3_clientzugriff_1.wmv). He shows how to set up your mobile device and how to get the certs by exporting them from internet explorer using outlook web access.
Best regards,
tsfnet

Just a small correction
Daniel has never been MVP for mobile devices. He was MVP for Exchange Server and is now working for MS.
Bye
OK - so which one of you two is going to translate ex2k3_clientzugriff_1.wmv into English for us?
äääähhhhmmmmm,
i'll try to provide a pdf with screenshots and explanation if this would help. But this will take some time as i am in heavy business at the moment due to changing our erp-software at work.
He actually got it working about three days ago.

yep, i know, but it could be helpful for other users, couldn't it ?
I just love people tributing to this forum AFTER solving their problem and not just "hey, it works now, perfect, thanks and bye forever" (maybe that's too hard, i know a lot of users do contribute a lot and spend a lot of time after solving their problem).
We need to understand why it works now. Do you know the difference between a cert and a root cert ? If you know it, you don't run into the same problem. That's why i will provide a simple pdf about installing the needed certs on your mobile device for acceesing an exchange server with ssl.

[Q] Where do MMS files live in the folder structure?

Hey guys,
So I have a bunch of photos of my niece living on my phone, which my sister sent to me via MMS. It's been a while since my HD2 got flashed and it's acting really flaky and NEEDS to be flashed, but I don't want to do so while these picture messages are living on that handset. I know I can save the photos one at a time, but that's an incredibly tedious task that I'm looking to avoid.
I've looked around for MMS backup software for WinMo 6.5 and have found none. However, it stands to reason that MMS messages live somewhere in the file system, since I can pull out my SIM and MicroSD card and still view them just fine. Therefore, I'm asking the awesome XDA-Developer community if there is a means by which to either batch back up MMS messages from Windows Mobile 6.5 (I'm even willing to pay a modest fee for software for this task), or if there's a folder location somewhere in the Windows Mobile folder tree that I can drag and drop via activesync. Google reveals little of relevance, and T-Mobile seemed to think I had audacity for calling and daring to ask for tech support when I wasn't running the stock ROM >.<.
Thanks guys (and girls)!
Joey
SOLVED!
I managed to solve my own issue =) It's a bit more complicated than I would have thought, but it did work =)
Step 1: Mount your device with Activesync.
Step 2: Navigate to the My Documents\UA Contents folder, and drag the "MMS UA" folder to your desktop.
Step 3: Go to this site: http://wargolet.com/wm6/ and download the "MMS Extractor" application. It's a tiny .exe file.
Step 4: Run the application, and choose "Process Folder". Navigate to the MMS UA folder, and pick a file. It will process all the .dat files it can read.
Step 5: Enjoy all the .JPEG MMS files extracted off your phone =)
Hope it helps someone else! I donated a few bucks to the guy since he solved a problem for which there are plenty of Google search results, but no good tutorial for =).
Joey
A good option for backup of all email sms mms is SPB Backup.
Although for your particular needs the tool you found seems pefect.

[Q] can someone help me with making this app?

hi i subscribed to a site that gives premium access to many file hosting sites by setting up their dns and logging in their web page... this works flawlessly on the pc but on android well it consumes a little of ram to have many tabs open and you have to open it everytime you want to download something so the question is is there a way to make an app where you put your login data and the app automatically logs in the website everytime you connect to the internet? (wifi/3g)
if yes can someone help me making it or can someone (best option beacuse i don't know a single thing about programming ) make this app for me nad the rest of android users that would like this service on their phone? thanks in advice and sorry for my english

I can only suggest as I am not able to test an OpenVPN connection:
Have you tried OpenVPN Installer and OpenVPN Settings apps (both from Friedrich Schäuffelhut) from the Market?
Maybe that apps can help you to install and configure your OpenVPN connection correctly.
Good luck and report back !
Hi,
thanks for the advice, but those are the programs I am currently using. I installed it with the openvpn installer. And to connect I have to use the settings app.
After I am connected I can browse the internet. But still can't use any apps like mentioned above..
Not getting an idea what the problem could be. Those apps somehow don't get the permission to use the internet or something..

Try using CatLog from the market. After installation run your E-Mail client and check for new mail (that does not work as you said). Look at the saved log file from CatLog to get some more information about what's wrong.
Although you say browsing works it might be a problem with the default route or a DNS problem. If you are not used to the console you can install LanDroid from the market. It will allow you to ping and trace route any host. This again might give you (and us ) more information about what is going wrong.

hey there thanks for this very informative post! I tried to download catlog, but the market says it is incompatible with my device... I downloaded a similar app. Didn't have much time to test it, but what I could read out of it in brief amount of time was, that while connecting to facebook there is a kind of xmpp error or something and mostly timeouts. There must be a kind of blockage somewhere... I'll try it again tomorrow and give your further information. I'll try out the other app, which you recommended too and let you know!
thank you loads for the support!

[Q] Is something like this possible? Android auto-wipe, selfdestruction or similiar?

(first off sorry for my bad grammar)
Please read the whole post before answering!!
Do to recent events, and after many hours of searching without any useful result, I decided to try making a simple app which instantly deletes/wipes all the data (without any prompt or warning) on your phone (e.g. if your phone gets stolen or you get mugged and you had much sensitive data on it.), formats everything or even messes up the whole device (so the thief can't use it anymore).
But my question is, is something like this even possible?
1. Is it possible to initiate formatiing/wiping with the Android SDK or something else?
2. Is it possible to make an app which can't simply be deleted or still remains after flashing the device?
3.Is it possible to remotely "push" the app on your phone and execute it? (I'm thinking about installing it via the Google Play website and setting the trigger (?) for starting the app on every possible event to instantly delete everything??
4. I guess this needs at least Superuser-rights..?
5. Maybe "we" could start with just automatic and instant ext.-SD card fortmatting?
Another idea is to have two apps:
one which is installed and allowed by the superuser-thingy to execute the wipe
and another one which you can remotely download or "push" via web and doesn't need Superuser-rights, whichs triggers the first app to start wiping so the thief can't deny the superuser promt..
I think this would really help and would've helped me a lot because there are only a few apps like this but afaik they all need a SMS to be triggered but what if the thief takes out/swaps the SIM card?
In my opinion android would seriously need an app like this.
If ur device mfg is samsung Plz read about samsungdive ...i can remote lock .remote wipe .remote location of ur device ...... Search in google or xda samsungdive.com
Check ur setting >location and security .. Hare u find remote control
Sent from my GT-S6102 using Tapatalk 2
yea I know samsungdive but as far as I know it doesn't remain after flashing and I think you can't install if you have a custom rom.
A answer to one of those questions would be really cool (secret bump)
