recently i got a xda from my friend, and it was sim locked, then by using ur manipulater i unlocked, now it accepting my t-mobile sim, but i unable to make or receive calls from it, whats worng with this......., please help me

It is like that. If you were living in the US, i could have forseen problems, however, the XDA you have will have a 900/1800 radio, and so should work on any of the 4 networks we have here.
Sorry, i can't help you. Anyone else got any ideas?

HI I don't know whether this mystery has already been laid to rest but I am in Toronto with an o2 XDA. I've tried changing bands via bootloader but the thing comes up with no signal. i know there's plenty of signal as I also have an unlocked Motorola v66i which happily works. I am also using a local network GSM simcard (Microcell Fido). The XDA is unlocked... thanks to the geniuses that run this site. does the xda work on 1900 or is it just wishful thinking? I'm back in blighty at the weekend

I believe it. But to complete the test, make sure you open and close the SIM cover to completely 'super-reset' the phone part. If found this to be necessary sometimes, also when I switched bands and somehow couldn't get back to 900/1800.
Yes i always make sure I close the tab on the sim slot so the phone resets. I'll try again in a few minutes but I just keeps coming up no signal and doesnt appear to even try to search for a new network

Having tried the xda a few more times i am at a complete loss. It seems as if it won't even try looking for a signal, just no networks found whatever sim card (O2 UK or a local canadian network sim) is put in. Judging from the number of views and no light shed from anyone else that one must assume the XDA is not triband.
Just one question... is the band switch program mentioned in the all singing update different in design from the one you can do in boot loader?? or is it the same thing just easier to access?
I hate giving up but I guess we will have to start saving up for the XDA II. I certainly hope that it is as hackable its elderly relative.
Being a new member and XDA user I must express my thanks to you lot, the people who make this website so informative, there's so much info here, stuff i never thought you could do with the XDA and it's so satisfying when you can "modify" the settings which are not mentioned in the instruction manual.

My two questions are that will my Amaze work with just the voice and text plan (no data) and does the Amaze use the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 frequencies? Thank you

BTW: If you need to call US and have WiFi connection and use TMO SIM card, WiFi calling is free.

I use Viber to talk to my friend in China. It's a free wifi calling/texting app on the Market.
Give it a try.
Don't forget to call t-mobile
and get your sim unlock codes. They email it to you, and you can't enter it until you put the foreign sim in. I'd wait to get the sim until you get to where your going to, as you'll be surprised at the deals you can get once your there.
Get a different pay-as-you-go sim card in each country for the best deals.
Not much free wifi in Europe.. Don't rely on it.. In your hotel you should be ok though..

You can call FROM anywhere back to the US via wifi and it's free, not call from the us to anywhere.

Yep.
AFAIK, to request SIM unlock code for subsidized phone (from TMO), you need to be 90 days on contract at least.
Or if you don't have subsidized phone (i.e. you bought it yourself) - you need to be on active contract.
It's explained somewhere on TMO site.
Or s-off and use the free method in the general forum to sim unlock your device.
Thanks for all the help. Prior to the post, I already sim-unlocked my phone from the method in the general section. I also already bought the SIM card and it seems to work. I placed it in and typed in the pin and everything seemed to be fine, except for the fact that they don't have connection in the US. Hopefully all goes well on my trip.

No Mobile network in France
Hello, I've just receive an unlocked T-Mobile Amaze 4G phone from the US. The phone is not rooted and has a stock rom. Everything seems to be working fine but one thing:
NO MOBILE NETWORK (can't use mobile internet)
It looks like compatibility issue between the French operator (I'm not sure that it supports 4G format) and the phone radio. What should I do first:
- call my operator support service
- root and flash a custom rom
- update radio version
- ...
Would appreciate any help.

Check your Internet APN settings, I had tonnes of issues until I found the right ones. Even if your network doesn't support 4G it will still default to 3G so you can get Internet..
hey there! OK so I hope someone can help me... I bought this mini pro new of eBay. its supposed to be unlocked. when I insert my koodo SIM card I have no signal at all. when I try to search for networks only Rogers shows up. it said hspa was supported and that's the band koodo uses but they're not there. inserting the SIM did not prompt me for a code or tell me that it was the wrong SIM or anything like that. I just don't have any signal on koodo/telus. please help!
Check if it has unlocked bootloader. Sometimes unlock bootloader on wrong way brings no signal on x10 mini.

no way to check now as I've already unlocked the bl added cwm and mini cm9. see, I just assumed that I had no signal because they lied and it was indeed locked to Rogers. so I went ahead and did all that, figuring I would get it unlocked later .but now, the more I read the less convinced I am that it is locked. everyone seems to say that you will know it's locked the moment you put your SIM in. it will tell you invalid SIM card, or ask for a code or some other weird thing. I get none of that. just no signal. and like I said, only Rogers shows up in the carrier list when searching for a network. but for now, assuming the bootloader was not locked to begin with what else could it be? also assuming it WAS unlocked how can I fix it if that were the cause?
Ok, I have made SOME progress... it turns out that I have the U20i and since I live in Canada, I need something from the U20a for the correct baseband options. Can anyone help me step by step how to get the proper frequencies to work?

the frequencies is something related to hardware if I'm not mistake, so if you bought an U20i and you need U20a then, sorry to say this but it won't work in the 3G frequency.
Sorry but you said no signal and not to say there is no internet connection. The difference between u20i and u20a is only in 3g. Their GSM bands for calling are exactly the same...

My first problem was that it was not having data on off setting under Mobile network. Which in other Mobil I have. In case if no network connection I used to dial *#*#4636#*#* to see the data condition whether it is on or off .
Once I accidentally opened select radio and selected USA Band. Now I lost all network.what to do please I have searched the forum but not understand the answers or I fear it is not for my Mobile software version. I can not decide which solutions to use.
Important notes
I don't know whether it's at&t or other.

I can't help with your problem, but I do not believe your phone is an AT&T phone. I just purchased a replacement for my AT&T Atrix that broke, from Newegg here in the USA and it has the same build number. The other data in the about phone area indicates it as being an Asian region phone. Under system Version it says 45.31.0MB860.AsiaRetail.en.03

I have been using ATT service on this i777, now going to China and will be using their carrier for a long time. I learnt I have to go to either China Mobile or China Unicom if I'm to stick with this device. However both carrier's SIMs resulted in "SIM card not provisioned" notice and it's not working.
I am wondering if calling ATT helps, or I need a SIM unlock code, or I have to install a custom ROM to somehow bypass the SIM check? Or even more? I love this phone so I don't want to buy a new one here in China.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Your phone needs to be sim unlocked. If it is not unlocked already, then by far the easiest route is to call AT&T to get the unlock code.
oh I'm sorry, I think I already unlocked it (spent a few bucks and got the code on a website)
I put in China Mobile's SIM and entered the code in the prompt box. Do I still need an unlock code from ATT ?

If the phone is already sim unlocked, then you don't need to unlock it again.
I've never gone through the unlock process, or traveled over seas, so I'm not the best person to answer your questions. I think "not provisioned' indicates that the sim is not activated, or that the phone is not set up for the network, or something like that. You may need to input the correct apn for the network. Maybe you could go to the carrier's store and find someone who could help you?
Maybe someone with experience will jump in and help.
